2 months after I got my phone, the screen stopped registering taps in a certain section of the screen.
As it is shown in the image, there is a row of pixels that doesn't recognize anything. This issue is rather sudden and is highly inconvenient since most apps have important events in that space itself (Whatsapp messages, Inbox Compose, Dialer numpad, and others)
Is this a hardware fault and has anybody else encountered such a problem? Thanks.

Did a search, but not coming up with anything....
Are there any known problems with the messaging program and other apps? Of all of the programs on my MDA/Wizard, that one gives me the most problems. It:
- looses settings
- freezes up
- has intermittant problems sending email
- wont launch from the Today Screen, the Start menu OR the designated hardkey.
I have to soft reset my device atleast 2x a day when the msging craps out and wont respond.
Any ideas?
thats odd, do you have any 3rd party apps related to do with messaging installed? the only messaging problem i've encountered is sending a message to a group.
Hi Thx for responding!
No, other than Agile, I have nothing else and my set up is not fancy - I'm only pulling my Yahoo pop3 to the device.
It's just so weird - no other program is giving me these problems. :x
what bugs me with messaging is that you can't move between the To: field and the Message body itself with tappin on the screen pressing TAB or the down keys just scrolls down the display but doesn't move you to the field very counter intuitive IMO. Hampers stylus free operation.
I have had some problems getting it to launch from the today screen or the hardware button.
I have the same problem with my t-mobile MDA> I called tech support and they said that it was a known problem that they are hoping to fix it withan upcoming ROM update but they didn't have a date. So, they are sending me another handset. -I don't know why as I'm sure that it's going to have the same problem.
Also, I have a qtek9100 as well and it has never had this problem.
That's something to note - that it is rom related. I wonder if flashing to a newer rom would stop it from happening all together.

I had this problem too. I found that it was caused when I enabled IE smooth scrolling in the registry.
Has anyone else experienced this? Notice the Title Bar and lower Menu Bar display as it should when I'm in SMS/MMS/POP3 folders but content is missing (no messages, list). The Today Screen is the background; looks like a write to display issue. This happens too often, I'd love a fix. I noticed this only after loading Summiter's newest ROM, but even after loading Cingular's most recent it still occurs. Advice?
Known issue when launching messaging using the hardware button. Currently no known fix. I've just stopped using the hardware button for this.
If I am in the text messaging screen in landscape mode, and close the phone into portrait mode, the screen does not completely rotate.
The top portion of the screen switches, and the bottom menu bar switches, but there is a section about 1/3 the size of the screen that remains in landscape mode until I close the text message program.
It only does it in texting, no other programs cause this problem with the screen, and it has only started doing it since I hard reset the phone.
Any help??
Yeah, texting does some strange stuff for me too. Sometimes when I push the button to select the contact i want to text it takes quite awhile for it to bring up the texting screen. And yes, same as you on the switching from landscape.
hmm.... That's wierd. I cant seem to find anything else relating to this problem
i am having the same problem also.. but recently it stopped.. idk wuts going on?
well, i figured out what the problem was with mine. It was doing it because I hacked the registry for the SIP to completely kill the pop-up keyboard. After re-enabling it, no more screen issue.
Hey guys, I've searched around for some answers to this but couldn't find any
Problem 1:
I can't send texts larger than 1 message (160 characters). Well, I can send them, but nobody receives them. I even tried sending them to myself but they never came through. I can receive them however? It's really annoying having to copy and paste parts of the message into separate messages. Any idea on a fix?
Problem 2: If I open out the keyboard, the display will shift horizontally (as it should), with the bottom menu (Apps-Phone-Personalize) bar shifting along with it. However, when I close the keyboard, everything shifts back vertically, except for the Apps-Phone-Personalize bar. It just stays on the side and gets in the way of things. Strange.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, my phone keeps randomly turning off for no reason. Even if the batts charged. Could this be because of the rom?

these problems are common.
1) use RMK's RIL matcher, it worked for me
2) this is becuase its for DHD and they dont have native rotating. you can try search for the rotating rosie, but you may lose the theming.
Hi,
I have observed in a few apps a certain problem: Some apps don't support the NST side buttons, so I scroll by swiping my finger over the screen. In most apps this works.
But there are a few where it does not work properly: Somehow these apps seem to have a problem interpreting my swipe correctly. Sometimes they correctly interpret it as attempt to scroll down, but very often they will also interpret it as an attempt to scroll up, even though I am making the same movement. This way reading a long article is really annoying because you always get sent back to the top of the article.
Apps in which I have observed this: Wapedia, International Herald Tribune, Read It Later (this last one does not exist anymore, as it has been replaced by "Pocket" which does not work on Android 2.1).
All of these apps seem to show exactly the same problem, so I suspect a common cause.
Did anyone make similar observations or maybe even has an idea for a fix?
Thanks!
I have the same problem for some apps. If I do long swipe up most of the screen there is no problem.
But it is annoying when I forget.
