Anyone use these? Does it help the speed of handoff for hangouts calls? Does it drain battery?
Curious if anyone has tried it. If not I'll try it and report back.

It improves the switch to lte when I leave my house and lose wifi. Does not speed up the switch when moving to lte during a hangouts call. No impact on battery or doze as far as I can tell.

I would imagine that the "Cellular data always active" would only speed the switching process when your internet APN is not your default APN that is activated during the LTE attach procedure. In this case, it would eliminate the delay encountered for the PDN Connectivity Request procedure and the Activate Default EPS Bearer Context procedure (typically, less than 1 second).

This is more of a work around to the problem of not having a compatible software app for the SGS to easily Switch between the different data modes to either save battery or prevent unnecessary 3G data on limited data plans
(I tried all the 2G/3G switchers and other alikes, but none were compatible with our SGS)
There's a simple way to Turn Off G/2G/3G/H without going into Air Plane mode is by simply creating a null or empty APN setting profile like this:

}
using the same method you can create an APN profile that is only for MMS, this way you can still get SMS/MMS and Phone calls, without incurring extra data or wasting power on GPRS/EDGE/3G/3.5G
I used APN on/off fro Market....works great.

ahh... great suggestion, this one actually works!
APN on-off Widget
all the other ones i've tested previously didn't do what it's supposed to do, all of them only takes you to the APN page with was kinda useless
added to my list of good apps

I don't know but in Miami I think AT&T sucks everyone I know drops so many calls, bad call quality, and average data. AT&T sucked for me on net10 and now they have a data cap 1.5gb. Now T-Mobile is much better for calls but data is weird just doesn't work sometimes it just freezes and I have to turn mobile data off and on.
Now for the past month have not been able to send MMS on nexus 4 called many times waited hours on hold nothing but check online as my answer. Anyway had to mix and match settings from their own site.
The highlighted is what I entered in for everything to work, try it out if you have the T-Mobile sim you can just switch everyday if you want. Didn't try the unlocked sim maybe it can do both I don't know.

I just created the same thread lol. I already tried this, didn't work for me
One troubleshooting step I would take is removing the other APN setting, but you can't... well I can't I'm not sure if there is a mod available that can do it
Browsing through all the new kit kat goodies on my Nexus4 and i found the option for internet calling.
I'm assuming its similar to T-Mobile's wifi calling, so that bounty thread may go bye bye!
So I was wondering if anyone has used the Internet Calling "For all calls when data network is available" setting as a daily driver, and if so how has your experience been in terms of call quality and dropped calls?
Also found the google support thread that has basic directions: Here
TY! :good:
** oh and i did a search in a few forums before posting but only found tmo threads
Here's a screenshot

This was on 4.3 as well.
Interesting. Because of poor signal reception on my N5, I was considering using talkatone and GV. I'll try this. Never needed it on my N4--same service; same location.
Hmmm. Don't know if AT&T gophone offers internet calling.
EDIT: Talkatone doesn't seem to work with Hangouts.

I can't figure how to turn up this feature in the note 4. In my nexus 10 it's very easy to turn it on. But i don't have the possibility to choose frequency band with my note. Can someone confirm if they were able to make it work? Am beginning to think it's not included in my model. Below is some screenshot of what I see...

Yo people, i was hoping to get some info from you guys about the 5GHz Wi-Fi on the note4?
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
its on by default. you cant switch it off.
For dual band router, I have a different ssid name for each band, I can choose one or the other on Note4, 2.4 and 5 work well for me.
Yeah, its just on, and I havn't seen an option to turn it off. As soon as i powered on the note for the first time, it detected my 5g and normal wifi straight away

Thanks both of you. I'll try to change the SSID for the 5GHz band.

Hi - could someone please tell me what this 2 semi-circle symbol is (between the bluetooth and wireless symbols). Never seen it before and can't get rid of it!
Thanks

Hi. I am yes using as s8 port. Have always been rooted and never had this symbol. Can I remove it!?
I had that symbol on a custom ROM. It disappeared after a day, no idea what it was though, sorry!
Ok thanks. Hopefully it'll go then!!
That icon is lte connection its your mobile data at a much faster pace then 4g
Ok. If i turn off wifi the ymbol disappears but I have no data. So I have a problem with this rom maybe as only wifi works it would seem.
Ignore that last post. So this symbol is here whether I'm on wifi or 4g. It's huge. Don't like it! It's on as well as saying 4g.
Its the IMS logo. You can delete anything relating to IMS using titanium or any other program to remove it.
IMS?
Its more like your connected to a much higher quality reception

For VOLTE connectivity.
