Since the latest update I have been unable to receive LED notifications. Before the update I had:
1. Blue LED flashing for Touchdown Exchange messages
2. Yellow for incoming SMS
3. Green for pushed pop or gmail
4. Red for missed call
These seemed default as I didn't set these up specifically. I liked this arrangement. I should note that I use GoSMS Pro as my SMS client.
To remedy my new lack of LED notifications, I've attempted a few applications from the market, specifically called Light Flow, even trying the "test mode" to cause dancing LEDs. It did not fix this problem. I've also tried a dancing LED/disco LED apps from the market, with no blinking LEDs.
The only LED I get now is when I plug in to charge, a green LED.
Has anyone seen this or have any ideas on how to remedy this issue? I really liked being able to see what was flashing and get an idea on the source of the beep, it would help me decide if I should ignore it without even unlocking the phone.

I haven't had this happen at all. Mine still give the correct LED notifications that it always has.
If you are on stock firmware, have you considered a factory reset? It's the only thing I can think of and might narrow down the problem. If you do the reset and it continues to persist than it isn't an issue with the OS but instead either the hardware or an app.
Thank you for your reply.
I have been extremely hesitant to do a factory reset. I use my phone primarily for work purposes (although it is rooted), it's loaded down with QuickOffice files and Touchdown is all configured the way I like it. A reset really has to be a last resort.
I do remember I had installed youmail and this notification thing happened shortly after. I have uninstalled that application but the LED notifications haven't returned.
Strange issue.

Strange indeed. I wish I could say something else that would help, but I can't. If you end up doing a factory reset, get titanium backup and backup all the files, use SMS backup+ to backup all the messages to your gmail account, and then just copy all the files over to the PC or a new SD card.
The factory reset should only take an hour at most to recover from if you take precautions and back up everything prior to it.
If you want to root and enable sideloading after the reset, you will need to use Gingerbreak. If you do this, make certain your external card is not in when this happens and that you have no data stored on the internal card as it will erase the internal card.
Hi Darrell,
I have purchased Titanium Backup Pro, I have used it in the past to freeze and unfreeze applications. I have never been successful however in backing up and restoring program data. I'll scour the net some more looking for a solution before/if I do a reset. If I find anything I will post it in this thread.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I have some issues with my phone behaving strangely and forgetting settings after long power-up times without reboot.
I am on rooted Adam kernel 1.6 knox-free with stock 4.2.2 rom XXUDMH5. I only flashed Adam kernel because whatever i tried, I lost Wifi with stock kernel after I tried CF-Auto-Root (got no clue why, but I am not the only one). Phone normally works quite fine, and after greenifying some apps and disabling some bloatware I normally get battery times of four days+ with moderate use (I am not a power-phoner).
However, after some days of power-on time, the phone starts behaving strangely. I got issues with screen auto brightness not working (screen staying on lowest brightness level all the time), touch screen not reacting properly, apps not starting etc. Two times the phone got hot while charging, apparently something running on heavy duty, with the result that after hours of charging battery power increased only little, if at all. Normally those issues went away after re-booting the phone.
Today, after charging over night, I found the phone with screen on, and looking into power history I found that it had been on for six hours. Apart from the hardware damage this might bring (screen burn-in), the other issue is that after the re-boot, I lost almost all settings. I had to enter passwords again for Samsung account etc., and I had to re-configure everything from keyboard settings, vibration feedback, screen turn-off delay, and remote access features.
When I tried to login to Tomtom live services, I had to enter the password again, too, and then the app told me that my account was already associated with another phone (which it was not, of course). Fortunatelly it allowed me to transfer to my "new" phone.
My questions are: Are those settings (screen turn-off delay, keyboard, remote access etc.) kernel or rom related? Does anybody know where those are stored (some xml file perhaps)? Can I make a backup (I have titanium backup) and restore only those settings if need be?
Many thanks in advance!
One addition: When I started Titanium backup, it notified me that the Android ID has changed and if I want to keep the new one or restore the previous one from a backup. Also, the lockscreen personalization (I replaced that "Live Companion" text) was lost.
So, after being on for more than four or five days the phone is forgetting all settings. Am I really the only one?
Hey Guys,
I just recently got my Nexus 4, and began to do some work on it. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed PhilZ Touch recovery, rooted, and got Xposed framework, all on stock ROM and Kernel. I began to restore all my apps, data, files, etc.. and just finished. But I noticed something that I cant remember if it happened right out of the box: when I proceed to expand my notifications, my device vibrates a short but noticeable vibrate. I have full control over vibration, sound, etc.. elsewhere, except in the notification shade with these expanding notifications. I have gone through ROM settings, Kernel Settings, Gravity Box, etc and cant see if this is something I did or if this is how its always been, and if so, how to disable it. Thanks in advance guys.
Update
Hey Guys,
I tried booting into safe mode and checking, and it seemed that it still happened, although all my Xposed tweaks were still visibly there. This means it isnt an app, but could possibly be GravityBox, Xuimod or tweakbox. I will start disabling these modules to see if it fixes the problems.
Update on Notification Expand/Collapse Vibration
Alright. I made a nandroid to preserve my device in its current state, and proceeded to disable all xposed modules and rebooted. My device continued to vibrate when notifications were expanded/collapsed, and so with all modules disabled, I booted into safe mode to disable all user apps, essentially making my device pure stock. This did not change anything, and I still receive vibrations. Although I did notice that it only happens when I expand/collapse with one finger. When two are used, there is no vibration. I am at a loss of idea's now for trying to fix the one finger expand/collapse vibration. Is this a stock thing? Is it supposed to be like this? Thanks.
Upon further investigation, I can safely conclude that it is a stock "feature". Thanks again everybody.
You know I can't say I ever noticed the vibrate. It's that insignificant why did you go through all that.

I guess its because I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did wrong or anything like that. It's my OCD
It started as a weird feeling. I thought that I had just forgotten that I had changed a setting or two. But now I am certain that the phone changes some settings by itself.
Knock on keeps turning off by itself . I did also enable led notifications a couple of hours ago only to find them turned off now , after I plugged in my device (I didn't see the red light when I locked the screen). I am completely stock . I haven't received the latest OTA update though. Do I need to see a shrink or something strange is going on with the phone's software ?

I suggest you get an exorcist for your phone immediately, anyways all joking aside did this just begin or has it been happening for a while now, have you installed any weird apps/modules(if rooted), as a last resort you can backup apps(via carbon if not rooted or titanium backup if you are rooted) and music/videos/pictures to your pc and factory resetting to see if the issue persist

Thank you once again for you answers. I have the phone 3-4 days as I wrote to you in the other thread ! It has been happening from day one. I am completely stock , no root , no nothing. I don't want to hard reset but it may be obligatory in this case.
Yes, I have seen the LGG2 reset settings as well

I am so glad to see someone else posting about this. This happens to me so often and is so frustrating.
I see several different changes happening fairly frequently:
1. Date/time settings get changed (auto date time gets disabled, auto time zone gets disabled, use24 hour gets enabled, various combinations of these 3 settings change)
2. Knock on/off gets turned off
Less frequently:
1. Auto rotate turns off
2. Home Screen Background resets and/or theme changes
3. Allow Home screen looping gets disabled
I have Verizon LGG2, rooted,
Android 4.4.2
Baseband version: VS98024A-M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046
Kernel Version 3.4.0-perf-gdf89a11
Build Number: KOT491,VS98024A
have been unsuccessful updating to the latest OTA - figured it was because of root, after uninstalling root still had the error.
Not sure if that is related.
Both the reset issue and the lack of OTA update are annoying, but not so problematic that I want to reset my phone.
If anyone has seen this issue and/or has suggestions (including reset, I suppose), I'd appreciate it.
Thanks i n advance.
Dave

Was wondering if anyone has run into this problem?
The phone was fine, rooted and everything, for a month give or take. Then all of a sudden, today, it started acting weird.
It was fine in the morning and everything, was able to use wifi, check emails, and stuff.
Then BAM, I tried to make a call, it didn't go through for the first 20 seconds or so. Then connected and a message kept popping up saying Phone is stopped or something during and after the call.
So, I restarted the phone. It restarted fine and everything, got past the 2 Samsung screens. Then hit the T-Mobile screen. and has been stuck on the T-Mobile screen for ~30 minutes now and just keeps vibrating.
It's getting quite hot, both front and back.
Any advice? Stupid Samsung making this a closed system so can't pull out the battery.
Can't even turn the phone off, only able to get to Download screen.
Weird problem.
Is there any way to pull the data and stuff off the phone at this point?
I'm thinking of going the factory reset route and do that to see what happens and see if it will fix the problem. It would probably not retain root am I correct and I would have to re-root again?
I could get into download mode and recovery fine.
I have had this issue on both at&t and t-mobile firmwares, but only while rooted.
Best thing to do is to re-flash the stock firmware again(or go to a different firmware if you'd like) but this is the reason I'm currently avoiding root. It soft bricks about a month in and is an easy fix but its annoying.
Was wondering about that too (flashing the stock firmware). But, will it wipe everything I had on there? Will any of my txt msg's and photo's or summat be lost to the ether?
Stupid question, I know, but had to be asked.
Thinking about flashing stock firmware and rooting agin for the sake of being able to do it again lol.
Well, if you flash stock, it does factory reset. That's why I have backups lol all I have to do is log into my Google account and everything is there.

Did you have security log or security update disabled as that updates and causes weird after affects.

These two threads describe exactly your issue and solution - http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/help/g930t-updates-unroots-overnight-t3426636 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/rooted-weeks-rebooted-stuck-t-mobile-t3425814
I had the same problem, twice I had a rooted device totally lock up and had to re-do everything. But after disabling the security updates as advised, I'm currently going on two months without a problem.
Hope this helps!
