Hello everyone.
I bought a phone off ebay recently. Phone is great and all but I cant get pass the Samsung account on the device. I tried the method in these two videos another member provided in another thread but neither worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/help-to-bypass-samsung-activation-lock-t3303479
Link 1 :
I cant get to the accessibility settings as when i turn on the phone it brings me straight to the choose wifi network screen.
Link 2:
I get to as far as where he mentions to tap the email, but it doesn't work whether I tap it or hold it down.
I have tried using an OTG cable and an apk to get into the settings but whenever I try to change anything like for instance turning off encryption lock it turns back the option on a second later. Because of this I cant even Flash the phone with Odin. I have tried everything to my knowledge to get it to work and nothing does.
Please Help:crying:

I tried Odin fails everytime. I read somewhere that the reactivation lock can stop you from flashing it, is this true?

Shouldn't fail, make sure you have the correct firmware and the latest version of Odin (3.10.7). Are you sure you're flashing it correctly? You need to flash the .tar.md5 file to the AP tab in Odin.
Yup I did all that
This is what I got.

Contact the seller to A.) Delete the associated Samsung account or B.) Give you the login information. I can't find any ways of bypassing it, I've found threads where people suggest stuff but nothing's clear cut as to what worked or not, deleting the Samsung account or logging in to it will surely work though.

No it doesn't - it stops you 'Reactivating' the phone... many people got stung with that Xtrestolite ROM having reactivation lock enabled as default, and no way to disable if you missed it during initial setup
Fix was to flash a stock KK ROM with ODIN, and log into all accounts > disable reactivation lock
@ OP - Have you tried flashing a stock KitKat ROM?

Not necessarily, the youtube videos I linked in the OPs link show how to bypass it without the original account - and I'm wondering if the reason it's not working for OP is because he's not running KK (I assume)
I know those video tutorials work, good few people have confirmed here on XDA

Sorry about the banned content mate i removed it now. Can you provide me a link to a stock KK rom other than Sam. I haven't tried them together cause the Flashing fails I have however tried both you tube videos and they fail. The phone doesnt allow me to change anything in the settings. If I get as far as adding a new Samsung account and I click the option absolutely nothing happens.

Ah, you're AT&T ?
They lock their bootloaders, that might be causing problems with downgrading to KK
I'm in the UK with a G900F, so don't have much know-how about tricks on downgrading your model S5
Vaguely remember people having success, you'll have to hunt through the forums and see if you can find any, but I do know people have taken them to AT&T and had them downgrade their S5s for them
Not sure what they'll say about it being locked though, maybe take proof of purchase
If I come across a downgrade method for your phone, I`ll post it back here

Hi guys and girls,
I'm new to this forum and new-ish to flashing roms and rooting my phone (SGS4 i9505 jfltexx i9505xxUBMGA), so I apologize If I've posted this in the wrong thread for starters.
I've been jumping between Samsung's stock ROM and Cyanogenmod 10.1/10.2 ROMs.
I can't remember exactly what I did wrong for my phone to be soft bricked, but I can list a few possibles and my device information to see if anyone can spot the problem;
CF-AUTO-ROOT jflte-jfltexx-gti9505
CM-10.2 Nighty Jfltexx
GAPPS
openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1
recovery-clockwork 6.0.4.4
PhilZ Touch 5.18.9-i9505
Now when I try boot my device I get told to boot recovery mode in samsung kies .. Which I've tried but it doesn't bring up any device in the list. I've tried it whilst my phone is in download mode, recovery mode and where it displays I've got a firmware issue.
I've tried flashing new recovery files and also I tried flashing "XSS-I9505XXUBMGA-20130924140120.home.tar" via Odin.. All seems to fail
I'm running out of ideas and options and I'm not the wisest guy so if any of you criticize me for my poor knowledge It'll be pointless as I wouldn't be here writing this in the first place If I didn't know that already.
I've never had a problem flashing custom ROMs and recoverys before, this is the first time. I've not selected no stupid options in Odin such as Re-Partition. I stick to the Auto Reboot and occasionally the F. Reset Time. Every guide I look at tells me different.
Below is a list of my devices original stock details:
kernal version
3.4.0-1081224
[email protected] #1
build number
JDQ39.I9505XXUBMGA

Any help, files, guides on how to solve this problem given to me would be VERY appreciated.
Also, I'm not sure if this is a kernal problem. But my battery has recently appeared to be draining rather quickly and It'll display "low battery" warnings at about 30% instead of the usual 14%. And It'll also shut down thinking its out of battery at about 16%, then I turn it back on and it says like 30%. Sometimes once its fully died, I place it on charge and after a matter of minutes it says its at 50%... I guess fully draining and leaving my battery on charge for 24 hours may fix that problem?
Please help!
EDIT: I think USB debugging is disabled, but I cannot get into my phone settings to enable it now?
My download mode screen says "Write protection: Enabled".
Just download stock firmware from sammobile and flash with Odin.

As for the debugging mode? Is there a way to enable USB debugging from recovery or download mode?
Also, can I only get xxumbga for my device? xxuemj7 and xxudmh8 are also being show in that link you sent me. Would they not work?

Seems like my bootloader isn't knoxd yet, which i guess makes easier for me to resolve my softbrick problem.
Damn hotfile downloading at 200kb/s. Hopefully I'll have my phone fixed before tomorrow, kinda waiting on a phone call for a job interview lol.
I'm flashing the stock version to my phone now, and it appears to be stuck at the BOOT part.
It is a 2.4GB file though so I'll leave it doing it overnight I guess.

Appears to be my only remaining method of fixing my phone....
Even tried PIT file and re-partitioning now and STILL fail..
I know I shouldn't try things unless I'm 100% sure, but that's the best help I'm getting right now.
The internet has no answers for my problem, and it appears neither does the community of this forum.

Odin troubleshooting: If Odin accidentally gives you "fail" try the following:
- Repeat procedure.
- Make sure that all actions of Kies are disabled from task manager.
- Change usb port.
- Try another usb cable (make sure it is the original).
- Try another Odin version.
- Uninstall and re-install driver.
- Use pit file.
- Try another computer.
if not, flash a pre-rooted firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824

Tried all of those steps many times over.
Is there a point in trying to root my rom when my phone doesn't even get to the bootloader?
Soon as i turn it on i get told theres a firmware issue encountered. I can still get to download mode, but not recovery mode.
EDIT: I dont even know what ROM is on it right now, everything is a mystery to me now, I'm relying purely on the XDA communities help now. As far as I'm aware, I've got a brick.
Sorry I'm giving up trying to find an answer myself now.
If anyone out there actually knows how to fix it, please enlighten me as I haven't the foggiest.
I'll try include as much details as I can ..
Recovery mode doesn't work
Download mode does work
Soon as i turn the device on I get the "Encountered firmware issue" problem
I've tried using many different versions of Odin
I've tried using different USB ports
I've tried using a different USB cable
I've tried using a different PC
I've tried flashing all sorts of recoveries such as TWRP, CWM, PhilZ.
I've tried flashing all sorts of custom and STOCK ROMs
I've tried re-partitioning using a PIT file

I've tried EVERYTHING I can possibly think of..
The problem appears to be that my phone WONT let ANYTHING write to it.
Thus making it impossible to flash ANYTHING therefore leaving me stuck with a waste of metal and plastic.
I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE i9505 Jfltexx .. Not sure what ROM is on it, not sure what Kernal, not sure what firmware .. I haven't a clue
Just help me dear god please.

If it helps, I couldn't care less about the warranty?
I'd just like my phone to work again, I don't care on what ROM whether it be custom or stock.
So my Girlfriend wanted a free hotspot on her phone, so i rooted her phone without issue and looked up how to get a free hotspot, i followed this video to the T (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYTis-i7HA4)
Unfortunately the phone stopped working, and double unfortunately i was being stupid as hell and didnt bother to backup the rom before installation. so i figured to fix the problem i would just flash a custom ROM on their, one that included hotspot. i THOUGHT her phone was an i9505 model s4. i ended up flashing an i9505 rom to her phone and it SEMI work (she cn sms and call but she doesnt get data and a lot of the apps dont work correctly) i tried flashing the stock rom back onto her phone using odin but it immediately fails everytime, i also tried to flash it using CWM but that also immediately fails. i really need to get her phone working and i will be checking this thread every 5 minutes or so, so if there is any more information you need from me, please ask and i will respond ASAP, i really need the phone fixed by tonight, also, if someone is willing to skype me and walk me through everything so i cna get it done ASAP, if you succesfully fix my phone ill shoot you 25 bucks (yo uwould send me an invoice from payapl or something and id pay the invoice with a credit card)
Thanks in advance guys! I definitely learned my lesson on backing things up! lol

Well, first you need to make sure what phone you are using. You said you thought you had a i9505 but you tried to flash the tar file for the Sprint GS4 (SPH-L720) which is the L720VPUFNG2 (NG2) file you refer to in the Odin readout above. Finally, in your edit, in Odin Mode you are showing the product name SPH-L720T. The 720T is the triband version of the Sprint Galaxy S4. I believe the tar file for the 720T is the NG5. I am not sure what trying to Odin a NG2 tar will do to a 720T phone but it would seem you may. On the Q&A page about two threads below your thread are threads for ROMs tested on the 720T as well as an everything you need to know about the 720T thread. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621862). I would look at those two threads to see if you can find a ROM or tar that works on your version. I am almost positive you will find both. To be safe, if you phone is a 720T, I would probably odin back to stock with the proper tar, regroup and start over with new root and the correct ROM. (read read read read and read again before you start flashing) If it is the 9505, there is another forum for that phone. If it is actually the L720, then you have bigger problems. Start by deleting and reinstalling drivers, download the tar file again, make sure you are using a good USB cord and try again. I am still relatively new but if I can help further, let me know.

Glad to hear you got her phone fixed. Doesn't mean you are out of the doghouse but at least you will not be in it as long.
well I was going to flash a custom ROM for her after we got the stock one in, but all the ROMS for her model are lame as hell and are ugly as heck. and they are all google based.

If all you originally wanted was free hotspot, take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621862
Use CF-AutoRoot to root, and then use either Galaxy Tools app or telephony.db edit to get free hotspot. This is a tried and true hotspot solution for the 720T. There are links/instructions for both in OP of the above thread. I can personally vouch for these. I used them to root and get free hotspot and all has been golden. No issues whatsoever.
Compared to what you've already been through with this phone, these mods should be a piece of cake.
Pro Tip: Once you've added native hotspot, add a toggle to the notification bar. There are links in the above thread to do it manually. But the easiest way to do it is with the Galaxy Tools app. There's an option in it that says "Add all Notification Toggles" that will add every imaginable toggle to the notification bar - including of course the hotspot toggle.
:crying::crying::crying: I can`t flash my S4 SGH-M919V with odin, i try to flash any firmware lollipop 5.0.1 of GT-I9505 that is the same thing and others firmwares of 4.4.4 of the same model but always send me FAIL abort the operation.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile is where you need to go for issues with your device, as that forum has far more people familiar with your S4. This is the international S4 forum.
Now, regarding Odin, you should be using a recent version of Odin (current is 3.10), the original cable connected directly to the computer, not using a hub, and not have Kies running. You may also need Samsung's drivers if you haven't installed Kies or downloaded them from Samsung, so if you haven't already downloaded them, do so. That said, attempting to flash an I9505 ROM to your device is automatically going to fail. Odin verifies the model number and other parameters in the S4 before it allows a flash to proceed. Naturally, the model numbers don't match and thus flashing the ROM will not work.
Write protection and MMC bursts modes are supposed to be enabled, so you can eliminate that as a concern.

Seriously? After telling you that you cannot install an I9505 ROM on your device and explaining why you can't, you're still trying?
YOU CANNOT INSTALL AN I9505 ROM ON A T-MOBILE S4! All attempts to do so will automatically fail. The only stock ROMs that will work on your device are T-Mobile ROMs.
What part of the above do you not understand? Tell me now so I can dumb things down.

You may want to try a different computer completely. Odin is sometimes weird like that. It could also be that the ROM you're currently using may require some steps to get the correct version of Android back on the device, especially if going down from Android 5.x to Android 4.4.4.

You gave him a version for the T-mobile variant. He has a different variant. He has the SGH-M919V. It's really confusing al those different models.
Try to flash the latest version from here.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-M919V/#firmware
if it fails, try different usb port and different usb cable.
Try using the latest version of Odin (v3.10.6) and see if you can flash the correct firmware for your rom.

Try using a different USB port if its failing again and make sure your USB drivers are up to date

If you're trying to flash the official Lollipop update for the S4, use the Canadian version. I tried using the Rogers version (as Videotron uses Rogers' network) from SamMobile and it worked perfectly well. I was even able to change my CSC to Rogers and get the update through Kies.
Disclaimer: If you choose to try this, it is at your own risks. I cannot be held responsible if your phone gets damaged in any way nor can I guarantee the results.
No need for this anymore! The SGHM919V has gotten the Lollipop update this morning.

Ok, I've found a Stock ROM with the same baseband, but its a US Sprint based ROM, and I have a UK based phone....Will this be ok ?
No. Odin does version checking to confirm that the firmware actually is for the device it is being flashed upon and will fail on a mismatch.
It sounds to me however that you might possibly have a Frankenphone, since you should not be able to install a Sprint bootloader on an international device. Would you please enter Download Mode and read off the model number posted on the screen? This is just to confirm that you really do have an I9505, and not another device masquerading as one.

Thanks for the reply..... I had already attempted to install the stock ROM I mentioned above, and It actually worked...
I just went into the Download mode, and checked the product number which now says SPH-L720T.. I also checked this in the "about device" section on the phone, which now gives the same info..... But I'm almost certain it said I9505 last time..
Is this going to be a problem, or should the phone just carry on as normal now ?
Thanks again

The "about device" info can be changed very easily. You could make it show that your device is a S7 and is running iOS.
Download mode info is hard-coded.
So your device always was, and will be, a SPH-L720T
And since it's a Sprint phone, there is one major thing to keep in mind. In the UK and on the European continent, that phone will not get LTE service. The radio in the phone expects to see American channels and won't pick up the European ones. This is like my S4, but only in reverse. In my case, my S4 expects European channels as it's an I9505 and doesn't see American channels.
The only exception to the above is if the original owner managed to rewrite the Qualcomm chip to enable European bands.

This is what I don't understand....As I said, I am almost certain, that this used to say GT I9505, and was definitely an LTE version. I have used this phone on 4G networks. The phone was purchased in the UK direct from EE as a network upgrade. Could something I have done have messed this up ? and anyway to restore it ?

I highly doubt it did.
I don't think the info displayed in download mode can be modified. Even if it can, I doubt it is an easy process to do. And flashing different ROMs is 100% not going to change it.
Download mode is similar to the bios of a PC, as I believe it's installed on the phone's motherboard itself, just like a PC's bios.

I seem to be stuck in a pickle, and at this rate this phone is seeing a swift throw to the curb by my friend who had given me this phone after getting his new one.
So, he had given me the phone and I was glad to finally move on from my issue-ridden HTC One M8, which was essentially on it's last legs. Even this low quality phone was more usable than the piece of junk I have. I got to work, and I installed the RebornROM, and I had went ahead to delete some of the bloatware.
However, it seems that my dumb self removed a Samsung app, and it seems to have triggered the FRP lock. I didn't think it was a big deal, seeing as how reverting back to stock was apparently most people's fix. I saw the Realterm fix, however I have 0 access to the home at all, and no SIM card. I downloaded the firmware, and I started up Odin to flash the stock firmware on. I was met with an error that I can only find scarce info on, and on YouTube it seems to be from Indian tech channels who are telling me to buy z3x-tools, and I'm not here to go ahead and try to do that.
To be more specific, my particular error is: SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2. BINARY: 1. I could not find info on this error from xda, and I'm confused really. What's going on here?
As per promise to my friend, if I fail to find anything on this issue by tomorrow, the phone meets it's doom by the curb. After all, I'd really like to not use this janky phone anymore, as I'm quite tired of being unable to do nothing (to be more specific, it's using an older version of Cyanogen because I can't afford to use Sunshine to upgrade my bootloader and S-OFF, and everything on the phone is slowly stopping to work, in particular my camera app crashes instantly, flashlight does not work, a good chunk of the left side of my touch screen has stopped responding and I've had to use one-handed mode to text, along with flipping the screen, and it is a gigantic mess of issues.)
Please help out, xda. I've got nothing else I can really do for this phone, and here I was figuring this would just be an easy night of fixing the damn thing.
After some fiddling, I have now gotten an error on startup that isn't even the FRP lock anymore; it's a notice telling me to use the Smart Switch app's emergency backup. Attempted to install it, and after jumping through multiple hoops and several fixes, I am stumped at "Error 1152: Temporary files failed to copy" upon attempting to open it's installer.
Pushing on, I have received a new error. I instead am just attempting to install the AP file, and I now receive another error: KERNEL REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE:1, BINARY:0. Even more fun, because there's even less information on this one. In fact, I have only found others crying for help as I am. Regardless, I am now trying the other 3 files. BL outright fails to download, CP has replaced the screen I saw originally, instead putting the kernel error up top instead of the old FRP lock error I'd get. CSC seems to have put the FRP lock error back though. Afterward, I had a feeling that maybe BL will work now? I simply got my usual old SW REV error I mentioned already.
From here, I learned of an issue here. I think I need a different AP file. My phone is the MetroPCS version. The only reason I say this is because I realized the AP file caused the Smart Switch error, then CP -> CSC brought me back to the failure. The KERNEL REV issue occurs when trying to use my AP, with these logs:

I ran into the same issue on another on5 when I had unlocked it for a friend, rooted it, then stupidly took off oem unlock and and rebooted to give back to him. I had to Odin the exact firmware I was running in order for it to work and fix the phone. I was running a t mobile older version ( an APF1) while trying to flash an (APL1) which wouldn't allow me to flash the AP partition in Odin. Once I flashed the full APF1 firmware with a factory reset, it booted normally, but unrooted, of course. Finding the correct firmware should hopefully fix your problem if your circumstances were like mine.
Check out these links. There are also other links and other threads to check out as well. Also check out sammobile.com as they have the the stock firmware for this phone.

Unfortunately, all of these are not the solutions to my issues. I require the AP, CP, CSC, etc. versions of the firmware that can be sent through Odin. I have no access to my recovery or OS due to the lock already being on.
All the links I sent you were to the odin flashable .tar files which is all the files needed to get your phone up and going again. Most of the links will show the download as a zip file which you would extract after downloading then use odin to flash the extracted files to your phone
