I have been a long time nexus user but switched to Huawei after seeing rave reviews of the phone. Largely, I am enjoying the experience but one thing I am sorely missing is that the incoming calls disrupt any activity that I am doing on the phone.
Is there any way of getting a heads-up notification for incoming call without disrupting the ongoing activity as in vanilla android? Is there any setting in emui for this? If someone can help me it will be great. Thanks!
maybe it is possible to try the "don’t disturb me" function in setup
there you can disable "calls" from major disruptions. This should help.
I didn’t try it by myself, so it is a suggestion only!
perhaps you have to change the notification options too
if somebody calls during 3 minutes again, it rings, (because it should be urgent)
In the notification manager the 'phone' app itself is not present. So I guess no changes are possible in notifications. Huawei does have such a setting in other apps listed in the notification manager called as 'banner' (which I guess is same as heads up notification display). I was so used to taking calls from the heads up card that I now find it abnormal if the full incoming call screen appears and I am in the middle of something else. Really wish emui had this.
Completely agree, it is quite disruptive when a call comes in while you are using the device at present.
Emui looses one point!

i tried the "do not disturb" function:
i have switched "immediately" to on
i have switched "Events and reminders" to on
i have switched "Messages" to on
I have switched "Calls" to off
after doing this:
if i get a incoming call, i can hear the sound and get a head up notification only!! Nothing else happens! Screen is unchanged!!! No flashing caller screen appears!
@up
The constant notification though...

Everytime I get called, I recieve a heads-up notification. Not my whole screen is covered. But maybe this is, because I'm on Emui 4.0?
So we have to wait for emui 4?

Hello
I'm running Android 4.2.2 and my phone is rooted. I'm currently using full!screen+ (paid version). Whenever I receive a phone call, a window pops-down from the notification bar (see screenshot attachment). Ignore the big red mark that I accidentally made in QuickNote when capturing screenshot.
Regardless of whether I answer or decline the call, the notification window stays there and does not go away. In fact, it sits on top of any window/app I open so I can't see anything behind it.
This notification window comes up only when I'm receiving a call while another app is open (eg Gmail). If I'm on my home screen, the regular phone dialer window comes up instead of the notification window. I'm thinking it might be because of fullscreen app, but I haven't had a chance to test it after uninstalling the app yet.
Anyone else have this issue?
Try disabling incoming call pop-up in phone settings.

Awesome. Thanks!
I'm using the native messaging app and cant figure out how to turn on the message notification during a call. Is this not a feature of Marshmallow?

I have the same issue. It's annoying the piss out of me. I'm coming from an HTC7 so maybe that just spoiled me?
Any of the custom Roms have this option?

go into your settings>sounds and notification >interruptions. Here you can edit what notification will interrupt you while being on a call. (Copied from a thread on XDA )
OR
Use tasker. Make a profile that makes a short vibration upon receiving a notification. You could use a sound instead of vibrate.
Unless im overlooking it, there is no interruptions option under settings > sounds and notification.
From what I can tell "interruptions" was replaced with "Do Not Disturb".
I'll have a look at tasker.

While in call, the only way you can go about doing this is by going to homescreen(press the home button while on call)>settings>change the settings specifically. Or, you can change the phone mode to silent from the notification panel and then revert back.
it's strange that it vibrate in call,it's in all the 6.0.1?

Well yes, if you don't want notifications at all while you are on a call alone, you can change the settings from the phone application. Go to your dialer, then open settings and unselect the notify during calls options.
well i don't find the specific setting in call..where is it exactly at the nexus?

Anyone find a solution to this? Do I really have to use tasker to get this done?
Same issue here... there is no option in settings that I can find to turn it off. Its gone from annoying to infuriating... maybe its fixed in preview 5.... if the stupid OTA would ever get here
Drives me nuts, vibration should be off by default while in a call.
vibrate during call bug fixed
Looks like bug has been fixed and will be available in "future build"
I can't post url yet, google: Issue 220951: 7.0 Nougat vibration during call problem
I'm using a Huawei Mate 8 and have also run into this issue, on Android 7.0.
Using Light Flow (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite&hl=en) will allow you to work around this issue.
For each notification type (within Light Flow) there is an option to toggle "Vibrate in call".
Bought a T-Mobile 6T earlier this week and noticed something odd about it's behavior. When you get calls they only show up as a blue flashing phone next to the notch. Unlike my Oneplus 5 which gives you the caller ID info and answer decline. This adds an extra step to answering a call. More it's just annoying not to see who's calling. I checked my daughter's Pixel 1 with Android 9 and it doesn't do this. So I contacted Oneplus support this morning. First it was through their chat who told me it was because of the inscreen fingerprint reader. Which is pretty funny. I'm a help desk manager and I love it when first levels have a tidbit of information they refuse to let go of and he wouldn't let go of. He ended with "I'll give this information to the ROM team". Next I called support and we went most of the steps I had done and one I hadn't, clearing cache, to see if it helped. Nothing helped . So it's being escalated.
So my questions are simply - Has anyone else with a 6T seen this?
If you have is there a way to get it to show the proper called ID screen like it should have?
Yes noticed same on my 6t from oneplus. Need full screen view and more detailed caller ID.
I downloaded the Google dialer and it fixed that issue. Just check out the Google dialer thread.

So now I'm dealing with Oneplus level 2 on this issue. When the phone is locked there is no info on the screen. What I also found is that if the notification screen is up on the lockscreen it won't show that a call is coming in either.
It's good to hear it's not just my wife's phone doing this.
Found the solution on the Oneplus forums and this works! This solved both the lockscreen issue and the blue notification icon behavior.
Go to Phone > App info > Notifications > Incoming Calls [Tick and tap to open detailed options > Behaviour -> Change it to Make sound and pop up on screen.
It solved this issue for me.
Also make sure you set ongoing call notification - Behaviour - Show silently to avoid additional popup on call screen. After this it will only be available if you scroll it from status-bar.
Just setting up an S10+ and have a notification at boot (from off or restart)
Icon on the lock screen looks like a P and nothing shows up in the notification history. So I have no idea what it's for.
I noticed this to, if I remember correctly it was just a notification to say phone restarted.
you could also download Nice Catch from galaxy store. I do find it odd though regardless.
Using Nice Catch, in pic below you will see logo with 'P' saying system UI, possibly to do with that as well. as looks very similar.

It's been discussed here. When you unlock your phone it will state "Android is starting"
I think I was able to make this go away by going into
Settings -> Biometrics and security -> Other security settings
And disabling "Strong protection"
On the other hand, it is normal and expected. Just don't have what happened to me happen to you. I had my phone set to automatically restart at 1AM on Wednesday's. Typically that's fine but I use a 3rd party app for my alarm clock. Needless to say it never went off because my phone never fully "started". Lucky I still woke up on time and disabled my phone automatically restarting.
I think it might be P for pin not phone
I use dual SIM and I have to use a work profile as a condition of using my own phone , the profile forces a pin lock

If I remember well on Oreo it was "O".
Now on Pie it is "P".

Thanks for the suggestions. The image MatTechGuy posted helped me find it
These steps seem to have sorted it

See All
Menu dots (three vertical top right)
Show System Apps
System UI
fbe_channel_name
Notification style
Silent and minimised

Thanks, just set up my S10 and this was annoying the crap out of me.
Well I am late here, but it's a P for Pie as in Android Pie. Not sure why it pops up on screen after a reboot though. It does it on both my S10 and S10+
