A few people have had issues with the EFS getting corrupt or wiped on their OPO before they had a working backup. This guide has so far worked for 4 people to restore their EFS allowing them to access mobile data and bluetooth again.
Note: I really don't know why this works, I have contacted the dev of this rom to ask if he has any ideas but still waiting on a response.
1. Flash official TWRP
2. Flash this ColorOS rom using TWRP - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772627 (you can skip all the account setups if you want)
3. Factory reset
4. Boot and setup ColorOS (you should see a network connect now with your sim card inserted, you will need to toggle mobile data on to test that)
5. If you have data in ColorOS you are good to flash back to CM11S anyway you want (you will need to factor reset after flashing back)
6. Save yourself the headache in the future and backup your EFS
Please post if this fix works for you.:victory:
Edit: I've went ahead and downloaded the ROM and I will hold on to it incase the original mirrors go down for some reason. Please PM me if they do.
One of the ones who can confirm this works. Will post in the official thread.
Worked for me also.
Wholy moly ... I have a mobile data network !!
Still on ColorOS, but this is VERY promising !!!
IMEI is correct, it's the one on the box !
Still no WiFi nor Bluetooh mac addresses, though...
Will keep you posted, but this is a HUGE step forward !
Thanx a lot for sharing this !
BTW, serial number is still unchanged and correct.
JP.
EDIT:
Unfortunately it didn't fix my issue, back to CM11S I am greeted by an AudioFX FC... Device pretty much unusable, the FC pops up the milisecond you click OK ...
Will try a different ROM...
EDIT 2:
SlimKat, CM11 Nightly both boot to the welcome screen, then reboot about 1 second later.
Only ColorOS seems to actually run ?!
A bit disgusted right now

Official TWRP doesn't have EFS backup in it, you have the get the unofficial one http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-2-7-1-0-t2815247

Odd, maybe you could try using TWRP to delete everything again including system, then sideload and boot ColorOS.

To add to that you can just boot the unofficial recovery using "fastboot boot recovery.img" to do your efs backup if you would prefer to keep the official TWRP installed. That way it only boots that recovery to allow you to do the backup of your EFS partition and doesn't erase your current recovery. That's how I did it.

WOW thanks, i do it and and i tell you how did it go in a few minutes.
I see that the OP has been thanked and this thread has a few success stories so I am giving it a bump for others to view in case of the same issue.
I just flashed the factory image... I never had the problem again

Im having the same problem as you have Yank555. It started with the AudioFX FCs rendering the device useless.
Next i tried to reflash the standard CM11s 25R rom back to get my phone normal again, it didnt work.
Then i remember i have a nandroid from a few days ago. Not thinking to read up on known issues with the OPO EFS i tried a restore.
My EFS is gone and the phone will not work unless im on ColourOs120. Wifi doesnt work, just basic phone functions.
Still waiting for a miracle for this problem.
Any suggestion guys?

Did you open a service request ? Any response ? So far all I got 5 days later was a "please fastboot flash factory images, case closed." which quite obviously did not help, so case reopened, but again nothing from them in 4 days, now.
But I wonder if my first thought is still correct, flawed emmc as flashing seems to work ... might be a radio hardware issue ? Just don't quite get what the AudioFX has to do with that... cause simply rooting the device and installing apps and making a few nandroid backups is no way to brick anything.
But anyway, tbh, OnePlus is mostly dead to me as a company, worst invest ever so far, nice if your device works, but service is not even close to bad, it's pretty much non-existing ... and for a supposedly "best service ever" it's quite, let's say, "impressing"

Nope, i have not tried opening a ticket, mine is a grey import from China.
There is something terribly wrong somewhere hardware wise. The audiofx problem only happens if i flash the CM11s. After ColourOS i have tried flashing the CM11 M8.
Im also wondering if i should try to use this OPO made rom to see if it can help.

Give it a go, not much to lose. Didn't work for me, though.
JP.
Sent from my Nexus 5 running stock rooted AOSP on Yank555.lu v1.0-alpha5 kernel.
This worked for me! I'm back in business! Thanks guys for getting this figured out, I thought my phone was done.
I hate to bring this back up.
I have a Nandroid of my stock CM11S on my phone. I used it for the update to 300 to get firmware, then made a backup of it and went back to the custom Rom I had been on.
Today, I went and restored the backup of CM11S to sideload the newest update. Weirdly, after restoring I have an unknown baseband. But if I go back to the custom Rom backup I still have a baseband.
I wonder if TWRP just didn't backup the correct partitions? I am on the offficial TWRP. But I do have a backup that contains my EFS backup from the other TWRP that has that option.
I think I know what corrupted my efs....I used the official twrp 2.7.1.1 which for some reason saves modemst1. I remember restoring st1 when I corrupted it the first time with the official 2.7.1.1. Well I did it again trying to restore a nandroid with the official twrp 2.7.1.1. Do not restore the saved modemst1 from the official twrp 2.7.1.1. You will encounter problems.
So, this same thing happened to me...i happily using 30O and not really any issues and getting good battery life~17 hrs w/moderate use. And no other bugs.
Found the 33R update here on the forums and downloaded it and flashed through TWRP.
Thats when trouble found me, lost network and wifi stuck trying to turn on but never finds wifi. Then reading through xda someone suggested to check IMEI and it was gone. I had NOT done any prior back ups other than Nandroid prior to flashing update.
Restore still didn't fix it.
I tried this (flash ColorOS and CM11) but still didnt fix it. I was bummed as my OPO is very new and I had been happy with it.
CM11 or by restore, windows will not detect it even with drivers loaded. Flashing colorOS would allow windows XP to recognize internal and allow me to send files so i tried custom ROMs and CM stock and Mahdi but none worked. Luckily my TWRP still works and i am able to boot and get into fasboot.
I finally got mine fixed with rooted stock 33R from here on xda!
Now my OPO is back in business!!!
Save st1 and st2 with vonnegut's method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54623075.. Put it in a safe place for later. I uploaded them to google drive and onedrive . It saved me today.
For those of you that were able to recover, did you lose your entire EFS folder? Mine is completely gone and I don't think this ColorOS trick works either. I've tried it all last night and I fell asleep at my desk
Hello! I have a note 4 sm n910f build number n910fxxuanj4.
Recently, I have rooted it, installed twrp and flashed the infamous rom. It does not recognize my Italian sim card, so I decided to restore the phone with twrp from the backup I had previously done ( with twrp) . Then, I tried flashing cm12 with twrp, but it gave me an error, saying that my device was different from the one that should've been used, so it stopped before even trying. I went back to touch wiz after that, and now, I have the following issues: I can't download images / videos or audios from whatsapp , telegram , dropbox or facebook ( they are the only ones I have tried) I can't even send any of those in fact. Also, I can't save any python script with the app
"Qpython" as it either sais that the place where I want to save it is unwritable, or that he can't save it in the temp file ( no idea what the second means...). I though that there was some problem with my sd card...I fact there is: I went to do an sd card data a wipe with twrp, but it would always fail. I then tried to format the sd card from the phone's settings, and that worked, but I still have the same problems I had before. I tried restoring again with my twrp backup, but I every time, the problems remain. I am starting to get a little worried and scared...I don't mind losing all the data, or having to format the entire phone or things like that....I just want to get it working like before... will flashing the stock firmware with odin do any good? Or would that risk bricking the phone ( maybe it tries to wipe the sd and it fails...I don't know)? Is there any other way? Someone please help me! Thanks a lot!
Alright, I have a Virgin Mobile S4. I rooted it a year ago with towelroot and installed clockwork mod on it to install cyanogenmod. I tried it, didn't like it so I restored my backup of the stock rom using CWM.
Fast forward to now. I tried to update my S4 OTA for Lollipop, but it would give me an error. I figured it was because I had changed the recovery software. So I went and downloaded the virgin mobile lollipop stock rom from sammobile. ( I337MVLUGOC4_I337MOYAGOC4_VMC ).
I tried to flash it onto my S4 using Odin 3.09. To no avail, it always failed at the system4.img.ext or something. From there I tried to make it work by using 3.10. Still failed. I googled for a fix or workaround and found something about reinstalling clockwork mod. I also tried reinstalling the PIT file for I337M. It was still not working. So I tried to flash back to my stock backup.
1st time I flashed, I kept having program that didn't want to start errors. I wiped dalvik, I wiped cache, I factory reset. Still bugged. So as a last resort I restored the backup again after having done all this. It worked! But...
Well, I'm at a lost now, I can't update using OTA, I can't update with Odin, I can't update with Kies. Now what? Is there a way to go back to the stock recovery and let the OTA or Kies update go through unhindered?
BTW, I had a problem when trying to use EFS professional to backup my EFS before the procedure. No matter which port I used ( front port or back motherboard port ), I could never make the backup, it said something about the phone currently being offline or something.
Anyway, I'd prefer to be able to switch back to the stock recovery and let the OTA or Kies do its thing. Any clues?
EDIT UPDATE: After fiddling some more around, I changed usb port again and reflashed using a more up to date version of Odin and I finally have Lollipop on my device, only problem is that I have no 3g or 4g connectivity even tho the IMEI, baseband and SMS as well as calls work just fine, what's wrong?
See first post edit^^

Did you check the APN settings? Make sure you have the right one for your carrier.
Hi to everyone,
I have some problems with my SM-N9005 I will explain everything from beginning what I did so you can have a clear picture. I had stock 4.4.2 rom when I bought my phone but I am a app freak so I had to do root actually my friend did it using odin because I am not so good with android knowledge. That was almost 2 years ago and with 4.4.2 I had no problems. Using camera, recording, wifi everything worked great. I have fastest class San Disk 64 GB memory card and I set camera video to save directly on it and it worked without any problems. This past month my phone started to be slow because of 2 years junk and using so I decided to put latest custom rom (I think 5.1.x something) but my friend was afraid if we dont put good rom that we will brick my phone so he told me to do a reset factory defaults and the phone will be unrooted and then go to software update option and update it to 5.0. I couldn't do that because it reported error phone changed or something like it was rooted but it was not. Lucky for me before root we did cwm backup of my phone so my friend restored backup and then we tried again software update again but still same error phone is changed (I was hundred precent sure that phone is unrooted but still no luck). Then we decided to install Kies and do firmware upgrade from options tab and it worked. It was 1.3 Gb update and kies showed that it is 5.0 and last firmware version for note 3. So I am using phone for few days now but I noticed few problems. Everytime I restart phone it forgets all wifi passwords and also when I come home I meen when I change ruter same story. Today I wanted to talk a picture and when I took a picture and go to gallery to see it (from camera up left corner see last image) phone restarted and when I wanted to record a video it said recording failed and then it restarts every time.Everything else is working great, phone is fast, maybe battery drains faster than on 4.4.2 but it is not a big problem for me. Sorry for my english if I have some mistakes. Can you help me please with these 2 issues?
??
Anyone please?
Did you try with a factory reset ?https://www.androidpit.com/factory-reset-note-3
You could possibly try flashing the stock android 5.0 with odin, that should be the best way of making sure everything is installed properly unless anyone thinks that would be a bad idea.
Chris
I tried factory reset and same story, ok I will try with odin I will go to see my friend in few days and then I will post results
So I solved it by:
Using Odin 3.11.1
I have already tried Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flashed the latest stock Lolipop or older lollipop with ODin and nothing solved the problem.
So I tried to flash the latest stock lolipop with Odin and marking checked (Auto Reboot , F. Reset Time , Phone EFS clear, Phone Bootloader update).
I suspect that the Phone EFS clear did the trick. It's function is related to the modem and radio of the phone. And clearly the modem has a problem here.
I hope this will help anybody out there having this issue.
This problem happened after trying to flash lollipop using FlashFire app to reserve the root that I had in my previos Android KK 4.4.2.

I have a Samsung s8 snapdragon 950U, T-mobile, running android 7.0, baseband - G950USQU2BQK5, build - nrd90m.G950USQS2BQL1. A couple weeks ago the mic stopped working so that I could not use speech-to-text which I rely on heavily. Nothing fixed it until I reflashed the phone with the same firmware. Before that I performed a ROM backup using clockworkmod and moved the backup files to my computer. I also used Titanium to backup system data like sms messages. After that, just as I was going to restore data, I get TMobile message that I’ve never seen before about a firmware update. I figured if it’s Oreo the update would fail because I have a custom ROM. Stupidly I chose to update and the next thing I know I have Android 8 – NOT rooted. That prevented me from using Titanium to restore settings.
Stupidly again, I decided to go back to the android 7 firmware and proceeded to root and flash the phone as I did before. This time it failed. I tried the SAMPWN and SAMFAIL methods repeatedly without success. Now I have bricked phone that just loops through a screen that says “Installing system update” followed immediately by another blue screen with a defunct android that says “no command.” I can get to download mode which Odin sees, but not to recovery, or anything that Smart Switch(which isn’t so smart) sees.
I have been downloading the Oreo firmware G950USQU4CRE9_G950UOYN4CRE9 for the past 4 hours hoping that I can maybe flash that. HELP! Can I somehow restore the nandroid backup using my computer? What should I do. I just need a working phone or I’m in big trouble.

update: i was able to flash the oreo firmware basically puts me back at step 2. becasue i backed up when rooted my backups now cannot be restored, or can they, at least in part? Is there any way i can restore some of the data in either the nandroid or titanium backups to my nonrooted oreo s8?
