Help pls - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After installing cm12.1 i got two problems
1. My camera doesn't work
2. Can't access root
Help please? I hope this can be fixed without a PC, thanks!
Sent from my GT-I9301I using Tapatalk

1. Rox has a camerafix because some devices have a different sensor. Did you try flashing that in twrp or cwm?
2. In case you didn't know; in cm you need to turn on root acces, you can find this in the developer options (tap 7 times on the build number in about phone.)

I have the sam problem too ... I cannot root my phone ...and I cannot install the KALO rom
I have something for you, who need to root u8800 pro or ANY phones you want to root. It's easy. Go to google, search "root android phone by runme.bat", you will see what you need. Try and ask anything if i can help you.
P/s: i had 3 minutes to root my phone by runme.bat (super1click is not support my phone's adb driver, so i find out runme.bat and use it). Good luck!

[NOOB FRIENDLY] GENERAL GUIDES for members

NOOB FRIENDLY!
Introduction:
I am not a full-time/professional developer, but i do make roms and apps for my personal use, so do not make any rom or app request! I decided to create this thread because i would like to help members of XDA forum who may not fully understands how somethings work. I have seen many people posting their question in some developers thread and the question is just left there unanswered for months, and that is pretty normal! The developers are very busy making all those roms and kernel for you guys! I personally feel that those problems should be fixed, so i decided to create this thread, just to answer you questions! Too lazy to type now... The end
Common question:
What is "rooting"?
- Well i know most of you might have came across this word before: "rooting." Rooting is actually the process of giving your lovely smartphones, tablets, the ability to gain "privileged control or root access." By giving the device root access users can freely write/replace the system application, and also control the cpu clock rate [OC/UC]. GUIDE OF HOW TO ROOT GALAXY NOTE 2 (N7100): coming soon
What is CWM [clockworkmod recovery]?
-CWM is a custom recovery for android smartphones and tablet. It allows you to do things that are not possible to do in the stock recovery. CWM allows you to do things such as flashing custom kernels and roms, it will also allow you to make a NANDROID backup which can be used to restore if you encounter any problem after flashing new roms or kernel. If you would like to know more about CWM try research in the internet you will find loads of information about it.
What are "custom roms"?
Custom roms are roms that are made by other developers that is not the manufacturer of the device, the roms are customized in the way the developers wants. Some of the famous custom roms are: Cyanogenmod, Miui, etc. Custom roms can be based on the device stock rom, or it can be based on the AOSP [android open source project] source, just like the Cyanogenmod. GUIDE OF HOW TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS: coming soon
What are GB/HC/ICS/JB?
These are the version of the Android OS:
GB: Gingerbread v. 2.3-2.3.7
HC: Honey Comb v. 3.1-3.2
ICS: Ice cream sandwich v. 4.0.x
JB: Jelly Bean v. 4.1.x-4.2.x

What should i do after rooting the device?
1. Stay with the boring stock rom that was made by your manufacturer.
or
2. Flash a custom rom and enjoy the smoothness and customization of the rom
Guide on how to flash a custom roms:
1. Download the rom you like: i would now like to breifly explain the difference between Aosp based custom rom and stock based custom rom.
Aosp [android open source project] rom:
-This type of rom are commonly known as "pure google roms" there will be no Touchwiz or SenseUI. The most famous Aosp based rom is the cyanogenmod rom. Aosp roms is most oftenly the lightest rom, but this does not mean that there is less customization. This type of rom will often gives better/faster performance than the stock rom, but however it can be less stable.
Stock based custom rom:
-Stock rom are roms that is made by your manufacturer, it is made specifically for your device. Developer will use this rom as a base and add some customization to the rom. Developer may also take out some things they do not like out of the rom, these are often known as "bloatwares." By using stock based custom roms, user will benefit from its stability, and some of the function made specifically for their device, e.g. S-pen functions.
Some link to the custom roms:

***There are more in the development section***
Aosp based roms:
Cm 10 and 10.1: http://get.cm/?device=n7100 *** if you are a beginner do not use 10.1 for now its still not stable ***
Jellybam: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996038
Paranoid Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970335
***There are more in the development section*** ALWAYS DO A MD5 SUM CHECK before flashing!!!
2. The rom you have downloaded should be in a .zip file ready for you to flash. DO NOT extract the file!
3. Connect your device to the PC (you do not need to turn it into download mode)
4. Copy the zip file into your INTERNAL sdcard (your phone storage), place it some where you can access it easily.
5. At this point make sure that your battery level is higher than 30% (i would recommend that it is fully charged or at least higher than half).
6. Reboot into CWM recovery [How? HOLD POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME]
7. If you are coming from stock rom or any other rom that is not the one that you will be flashing, you will need to make a full wipe!
8. DO A NANDROID BACKUP!=> go to backup and restore=>backup
9. Do a factory reset/data wipe
10. Wipe cache partition
11. advanced->wipe dalvik cache
12. Now it's time to flash the rom, to do this just select "install zip from sdcard" and then choose the .zip (your rom that you have downloaded) from you internal sdcard. ***Your rom that you have downloaded might use the aroma installer, just follow what it says and select what you would like to be installed.
13. DONE! *** first boot might take around 3-5 minutes, if you get a bootloop, try booting into recovery and do a full wipe and reflash the rom, if it still does not boot, go into recovery and restore from your NANDROID backup
14. Hit the "thanks" button!!!!!!!!

Q: If I root my device, will it add to the counter? I know it won't but just trying to make sure. From what I know, only flashing ROMs will add to the binary counter.
Also, how to do a MD5 SUM CHECK?
Lastly, I think you forgot to mention to flash GAPPS as well.
I suggest changing the thread title to 'newb friendly'. .lol
Noob is a guy who doesn't want to learn
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
You can grab some free md5 generators from the net, some of them can compare two files and tell you weather they are identical or not.
In your case, you need to compare the md5 of the downloaded file to the md5 of the original one on the server.
What's the point of comparing md5, just to make sure that you have EXACTLY the same file on your hard drive, because flashing corrupted files may damage your phone.

Using a Samsung N7100
Hi,
I bought a new Samsung galaxy note 2 GT-N7100.
I want to be able to remove the unecessary applications (such as Flipboard, Talk etc...)
People in XDA recommend me to root my phone but I think that I understood something: rooting a phone will just allow me to flash a CF on my phone (but will not allow me to remove apps that I dont want) am I right?
If I'm right, then it is impossible for me to keep the manufactured Rom and to be able to remove apps that i dont want.
Then, I should install CWM, root the phone AND install a CF for being able to remove what i want.
But the I want to keep the manufactured Rom on my phone and being able to remove what i want but it seems that is impossible.
I 'm...very confused and certain threat in the fora give me contradictory infos. I need to be sure.
You can root the stock rom and use titanium backup (or similar) to uninstall the aps you dont want. This is what I have done. No need to put a custom firmware on your phone. You dont even need CWM.

Rooting your phone is the first step for everything else.
Flashing CF will root your phone.(Some version of CF include a CWM some dont)
So you can, only root or root AND install a recovery(CWM)
To flash custom ROM or mods you need CWM but you don't need CWM if you just want to remove bloatware(unwanted apps).
Once your phone is Rooted you need an app to remove bloatware(Titanium backup is one of them)
Hope it helps
That is a great guide. Thank you.
Now that I have directions for rooting it using my mac, I'm going to try it.
What I want to do more than anything with root is to be able to make in app purchases. I don't understand why they have to make buying from outside the US so hard.
Anyway, I pray all the directions are there and are right as bricking the Note 2 would not be good.

[Q] How to get root for Omnirom when no recovery mode is available?

Hi there,
I am searching for hours for a solution to my Problem and could not find the trick. Hopefully someone can help me here...
I am trying to get root on my Car Navi which uses Omnirom (4.4.2) issued by its manufacturer. I've read that one simply should flash supersu.zip in recovery mode. The problem is that there is no documentation on how to enter the recovery mode on the device. When flashing new firmware/android, one simply insert a sd card with the new firmware and the flashing process starts automatically on reboot.
Is there another way to get root access for Omnirom kitkat? I've tried Framaroot without luck.
Thanks for any help.

Um, Omni does not currently ship preinstalled on any device, and as a result, it's impossible to be running Omni without access to a custom recovery, since you need a custom recovery to install Omni in the first place.
Whatever your navigation system is running, it is NOT Omni, and as a result, this is not the correct place to be posting about issues with your device.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I just went to omnirom.org and there was a link to this forum.
This is a little bit weird: Omni was not preinstalled but the update(Omni) came directly from the manurfacturer (sntron.com).
In my case no recovery mode is accessible. As I've written in the 1st post, I copied the update on a sd-card and booted from it so that the updated installs automatically.
Attached is a picture of what is installed.
Thanks for any info.
wtf...
This is weird. That would make this device an unofficial kang that not a single member of the Omni team was aware of until now...

[GUIDE] Official OP3T Stock Reset to OOS 4.0.3 [STOCK|RESET|UNBRICK]

OFFICIAL ONEPLUS 3T STOCK RESET
SOURCE : OnePlus L2 Support Team
VERSION : OxygenOS 4.0.3
REQUIRES 64 BIT WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM
DOWNLOADS
The Downloaded Package Contains:
1. OnePlus3T Stock Reset Oxygen 4.0.3 [Folder Name: OnePlus3T_28_A.041_170208]
2. Qualcomm Drivers (x64 Only) [Folder Name: 64-20160925T230624Z]
Google Drive | MediaFire
INSTRUCTIONS
You are doing this on your own responsibility. I take no responsibility whatsoever.
(THIS WILL WIPE YOUR ONEPLUS 3T INCLUDING INTERNAL SD [Read Section X to avoid Wiping UserData Partition] AND WILL ALSO LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER; COMPLETE STOCK. ALSO THIS WILL WORK ONLY ON WINDOWS x64. TESTED ON WINDOWS 10 PRO)
Extract the Downloaded Archive (WinRAR, WinZIP, 7ZIP etc). You should have 2 folders: "OnePlus3T_28_A.041_170208" and "64-20160925T230624Z"
A. Install the Qualcomm driver.
Turn off your phone and disconnect the USB cable from the phone.
Hold vol-up and plug in the USB (Do not press Power button). The screen will stay black but you will hear a sound from windows that a device is attached.
Open Device Manager (Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager)
Expand "Other Device". Under "Other Devices" you should find "QHSUSB_BULK". Right Click "Update Driver", search up the "64-20160925T230624Z" folder and press OK. The driver should now install.
B. Flashing Process
Open the OnePlus3T_28_A.041_170208 folder and open "MsmDownloadTool V3.0" as Administrator (Right Click -> Run As Administrator)
Look if your phone is detected in the list; one of the row would show the device type as "COM N". If not, recheck if driver is detected in Device Manager (Go back to Step A).
First click the right square "Verify" button. This will perform an integrity check on the downloaded files by verifying the MD5 hash values. The system will seem to hang for a bit but should give you a pop up with the results of the above verification. Confirm everything is ok. (If something is not ok, you will have to re-download the images.)
Press the "Start" button and let the progress finish.
When it's done. Disconnect the USB cable and turn on the device.
X. Flashing without Data Wipe
This Section is not personally tested. Hence before attempting to follow through, ensure you know what you are doing. Issues may occur if your current OS version is different.
Download the custom XML Files at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byn304jb_hlqZ29XM1oxUUZwbzg/view
Overwrite the Extracted Stock Reset's rawprogramX.xml files with these custom files.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will this work with OnePlus 3?
This is meant for OnePlus 3T ONLY. Failure to comply will lead to a bricked device which may be beyond repair.
I am using X Operating System. Will this work?
This must work with all Windows x64 based Operating System ONLY. It has been tested on Windows 10 Pro x64.
Oxygen OS X.X.X is released. Why hasn't this stock reset been updated yet?
This is what OnePlus L2 Team uses to flash your phone in an event of a soft brick or OS related issues. OnePlus has no reason to update this as this isn't supposed to be available to general public. If OnePlus releases a new one, rest assured you will eventually find it in another thread within this forum.
This is useless. It does nothing.
# Disable your AntiVirus and Firewall and try again. POST 8 BY @RY4N75
# Restart your computer with Driver Signature Verification disabled and try the entire process again.

As my First Post and Thread Title states, this is Official Stock Reset for 4.0.3 which is used by OnePlus L2 Team in an event of OS Issues (failed update, soft bricks etc) on your phone.
OnePlus usually does not create stock reset for every OS iteration. Hence do not expect new versions / updates of this. If I manage to get my hands on the new ones, it will surely be posted in a new thread in the Guides section in XDA.

If you use the recovery for 3t on your 3, you will end up with a unbootable phone due to wrong firmwares for the devices, so the answer is no. But of course you can just download the disaster recovery for the 3 which will work on that phone and f*** up the 3t instead ?

Thanks for this guide. I don't need it now but good to have it handy. I've downloaded, installed the Qualcomm driver, checked and verified. I just have to remember that without an SD card anything needed after the restore needs backing up first.

But before the update it boots?
Does it show your imei in settings, about phone, status SIM? Looks like your EFS got damaged, I hope you did the recommended EFS update once in the past...
Are you sure that it's a 3T and not 3?
Maybe try to factory reset before updating? You could also use fastboot to format userdata, cache, then apply update from within stock recovery or adb sideload (apply update from adb -> stock recovery)
There's also a newer version of the MSM-download-tool which resets the device to nougat somewhere buried in this thread, I think it's this one...

Does it show your imei in settings, about phone, status SIM? Looks like your EFS got damaged, I hope you did the recommended EFS update once in the past...
Are you sure that it's a 3T and not 3?

Yes. it boots before update and does show IMEI for both SIM's. its 3T.
I have not done any EFS update in the past. I tried running "su" command using terminal emulator however it gives command not found error.
I will try with new MSM-download tool.

Are you sure it's a 3t not a 3?
Does Wi-Fi and BT work right after reset or is it only after update broken?

Question Android 12 for Cricket Dream 5G?

Anyone have the Android 12 firmware that Cricket released from this Reddit thread? There is one custom rom developed in this XDA thread but not sure how stable it is.
Hey dude, I'm currently using the a teams custom ROM From here.
I've used all three attached, only issues I found in them are as followed
Android 12 rom's Bluetooth will connect but won't send audio, to fix this go to settings/phh settings/misc/ there you'll find a bunch of options, Im using Android 11 rn so I can't tell u which one needs to be enabled ATM
Android 11 one doesn't have this issue, and all three won't allow lock screen or fingerprint, I couldn't find a fix for this)

Thanks for the reply.
I'm a little confused with the aio toolkit requirement.
1. Is the aio toolkit is to help install TWRP and Magisk?
2. Where is the download link to aio toolkit?
3. How do you install the aio toolkit?
I couldn’t tell you on that, I never played around with it. Over on that thread you get 3 downloads, 2 android 12 gsm, and 1 android 11 gsm.
I
They all come with magisk pre installed, all you need is TWRP.

Ok. That's what I have in mind too. Normally you need to unlock bootloader and then install TWRP before you can flash the custom rom.
I thought the aio toolkit include the TWRP and Magisk. So you install it then boot to the stock recovery to flash the rom.
Yeah. Theres another post here for getting just twrp and magisk. I'm to lazy to quote it lol, but that's how I got it originally, I then flashed these ROM's without a issue.

I finally installed the custom GSI roms. There is one major issue is that the phone don't ring for incoming calls. After 5 rings, it goes to the voicemail. I can make calls.
Did you have this problem? Which rom are you using?
I installed TWRP using AIO Toolkit. Not sure how you install your TWRP.
I wonder if the modified boot.img from Magisk might be the cause to the phone ring issue since my stock ROM is updated to Android 11 2023 February. The developer created the custom GSI roms and TWRP and Pre-patched using an older Android 11 in May 2022.

1. AiO Toolkit
Sure. In case you don't have a copy of the full AIO Toolkit that includes unbrick roms and rooted stuff. I upload a lite of the AIO Toolkit that includes only the rooted stuff, not full rom. It's only 360MB.

You will have to use Linux in order. I recommend Ubabutu v22 instead v23. I couldn't get it work in Windows.
Follow the direction in the readdme.md to install MTKClient and requirements: https://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient
After completing the installation, make sure you enable USB debugging and run `adb devices` and confirm to enable "Allow to use usb debugging" in the phone.
Run the AIO Toolkit CLI script: Main_Menu.sh. The simplest way to run this Main_Menu.sh is open the File Manager and right click on it and select Run. It will give you instruction what to do after you select the menu choice.
In the main meanu, select the bootloader menu item for unlocking the bootloader and select recovery menu item installing TWRP and Magisk.
If it ask to enter brom mode, just power off the phone, hold the volume up and down buttons for 2 seconds and connect the USB cable to PC. It should automatically recognize and do it stuff.
2. Bluetooth Fix
Also there is a fix for bluetooth by enabling this settings in any of the custom rom you use.
Go Settings > Phh Settings > Misc Features. Under Other section, check "Force disable A2DP Offline"
3. Phone call ring
Can you do a quick call test for me if you don't mind? Just have someone call your Dream 5G phone. If it rings, it means it works. If it works, can you list baseband version and custom rom you are using?
I really wanted to use Android 12 if I can fix the phone call ringg issue.
4. TWRP v3.7 update?
What version of TWRP are you using? is 3.6.x? Have you upgrade to v3.7x that is fully Android 12 compatiable?
I was going to do the manual process but there was only threads about it and not sure how relaible. So I use the AIO Toolkit.
However if you able to upgrade to v3.7, please share the steps.
Let me know if you need to help.
