What Kind of fail? Error message?
if you have updated to "coj5" or newer builds of 5.1.1 then you can not go back to kitkat or even previous builds of 5.1.1 or 5.0.1. thats why you get "failed" error in odin. unfortunately there is no way to downgrade as of now because coj5 locks the bootloader.

Damn I just downgraded a few days ago with exactly the COJ5 version. I've also heard that some people can't downgrade but it seems like I never had a problem with this.
Maybe if i had such a problem I would try to install a custom ROM / other bootloader with Odin first to see if works with a stock kitkat rom after.

Sometimes it is possible to downgrade, but for sure my friend, then u won't have wifi and/or sound
tapatalked by an Echoenian on old b/l without knox
What if he installs a custom 4.3 rom?
Would that work? can he install the custom rom in recovery? or that would brick the phone because of the new bootloader?

downgrade always possible but there are problems
example
sound, calls
can be fixed using a custom kernel, mods, etc.
but this did not benefit
why necessary ? 4.4.2 is better
question is downgrade and reset Knox
it is
everything else is nothing

Only wifi but fixed by flashing a custom kernel. But every time i rebooted, i had to re-connect to my router again.
I will try to be as short as possible and any help or feedback, would be higly appreciated
After 3 weeks of trying leaked lollipop on my SM-9005 ( flashed everything from odin including pit ) i decided to go back to stock 4.4.2 where i was on the 1st place...till official release of 5.0
The result?I read every single thread on xda and similar forums, after succesfully flashing stock roms supposingly that would fit my phone, even pit file and aswell rooting it and trying custom roms...i ended up with baseband unknown and imei null and ofcourse most of you know what that means,no need to explain.
Finally the only thing that revived my phone was ,after 4 hours of a dead device, meaning no reception and imei, flashing back the leaked lollipop...at least i have a phone now...
My baseband is N9005XXEGBNL8 which is not on samsung firmware stock section and even if i searched and searched i couldnt find it...
Should i stay then on leaked lollipop to be safe that i 'll have a working phone?Anyone can tell me where can i find my baseband and i should flash it normally or with pit from odin again just in case im lucky?
thank you in advance

I have the G900F and have successfully flashed the new MM BL, then back to the old LP BL and then back up to MM again, so yes as long as your bootloader is unlocked in the first place, shouldn't have a problem
Also flashed from LP to KK and back to LP again
Hello Guys,
I'm a little bit disappointed with 6.0.1, because a huge battery drain and want to back on old 4.4.4. Indeed it is old, but work really fast and battery life is much better.
Unfortunately bootloader is locked and couldn't successfully flash via Odin KK 4.4.4 firmware.
Do anybody have idea is there a chance to do that?

you can not downgrade your phone to 5.0.1 and 4.4.4 ,samsung has put bootloader lock during COJ5
You can't go back to 4.4.4. You can only downgrade to 5.1.1 coj5.

still there is a possible JTAG solution , search it and you might find the methods
