Honor 7 FLAC Support native ... posible ... - Honor 7 General

Hi ..
With native Music aplication i can play FLAC format , but this sound it is downsampled .. etc etc ... to play later ? I see a reduction in quality compared with MP3 conversion of the same file ...
I have tried poweramp player and others , but sound it is better with stock EMUI Music Player ( with DTS disabled) .
It's there out there a player with supports natively the FLAC format without conversion ? Maybe Honor 7 does not support it ... ;(
Any suggestions ...
Thanks a lot ..

did you try the blackplayer? <-link!
you should do it!

Try PlayerPro with DSP pack. Very good quality of sound.

when you say native, do you mean 'decoded in hardware'?
I've played some 24bit FLAC in the bundled player and poweramp (with no EQ) through sennheiser hd25's and there is very little difference

oh, and the Honor 7 certainly isn't the best sounding phone i've ever heard. without good eq it's really rather flat, it also seems to struggle with deep punchy bass. however, it doesn't sound "washed out" like a bad mp3

Audio Quality

hey i want to buy the blackstone but i am worried abt the music quality as i will be using it as my main music player. Can any1 give me comments on the music quality. Also is there any audio enhancement programs that work on the HD that you guys can recommend?
Thanks!
i find it better than my Sony S639 mp3 player, stronger, clearer and sharper sound :/
here are some numbers that don't tell me much, but you might make some sense of it
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_touch_hd-review-300p6.php
I honestly recommend using SRS WOW HD (look it up, its free and its here on XDA). With it listening to music on blackstone is real pleasure.

5.1 surround amazing

anyone watch a movie on the stock player??
I love the stock player since its got 5.1 surround. It makes a night and difference watching movies...even without headphones...I wish there was a way to implement that into other players such as mobo, vplayer, and rockplayer etc.
I'm sure with touchwiz UI their gonna really boost the multimedia aspect of this thing.
Can you post the specs (using something like MediaInfo) of the movie? My impression was that HC's stock player can't play 5.1 audio currently.
Will be trying it out on Sunday for my flight back East, looking forward to hearing it on my new Audio-Technica ATH M50's!

if you start to play any movie in the stock player there's a button on the bottom left that says 5.1 srs click it and you'll hear the difference. I was playing a divx version of a movie called "girl who kicked the hornet's nest"
here are the info directly from vlc player
codec: MPEG audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 128 kb/s
I don't believe this is completely stock player. Samsung is always about good media and always trying to implement 5.1 into everything. My brother's Samsung vibrant has the same features on his stock audio and video players provided by samsung. the phone only has one speaker so when you press that button on his phone it says this mode only works with headphones. But for the Galaxy tab 10.1 we've got two great speakers on the right and left perfect for 5.1. Although its not true 5.1 it makes a huge difference. I've tried it even on things I recorded with my galaxy tab 10.1. I think it's a software modification of some sort done by samsung to make it sound very realistic.
Give it a try...let me know what you guys think.

Its a Samsung future that you can chose to have the tab make mono/stereo audio sound like its sorround.
Its like fake 5.1 from stereo speakers
-Creates an accurate 5.1 virtual surround sound experience over any stereo headphones
-Utilizes SRS Circle Surround decoder to generate the highest quality surround sound - placing left, right, center, surround left and surround right speakers accurately around the listener's head
-SRS Dialog Clarity boosts the frequency range of the human voice in a way that lifts the dialog above the audio effects, so you can clearly hear every word that's being spoken
-Improves overall bass response of the headphones
-SRS WOW HDimproves the dynamic audio performance of both compressed and uncompressed audio, by expanding the size of the audio image
Yup. I hate how they confuse people with that "5.1" button when it's really "Fake5.1"

you have to admit that it sounds pretty realistic when you turn it on...no tablet can do that right now...the xooms speakers are horrible way in the back and sound is muffled...and only high end laptops are able to only replicate a 5.1 surround, I wouldn't complain unless you want them to put a sub-woofer in there and two more speakers lol....

By far the best sound mod!

I've tried everything to improve the horrible sound on the Galaxy s II (poweramp,equilizer,etc.)...nothing beats the combination of Cyanogen Music Player and DSP Manager...just installed both on my S2 and its FINALLY sounding like a decent music player! Download and install from here:

same here with stock player
+1 stock music player user. I'm kinda ignorant about this too. Maybe its because the SGS2 audio quality is already far better than my nexus one, therefore I'm quite satisfied with my upgrade.

Likewise same as last two post . But with an enormousness variation in hearing and music played its only to be expected that some need adjustments .
Crap music is crap music no matter how you try to improve the sound .
Worth a look/try anyway .

Combined with Poweramp equalization and an AKG K319 my stock SGS2 with 2.3.3 sounds quite good ... no need for further hassle.
PS: It might be worth mentioning, that I only play Ogg in 224 Kbit ... MP3 is junk even at 320 Kbit
I for one thank you sir for posting this. I actually despise the sound of music on this device without an EQ as when you turn up the bass the preamp maxes out and the sound distorts. DSP manager does a MUCH better job (had it on my HTC Hero with CM7) at managing that and I had no idea it could be installed as an APK. I thought it was integrated into CyanogenMod. YIPPEE!

Possibly why my music is not a problem Encoded as AAC+ at 192 KBps and no need to distort my music by ramping up the bass .
Noticeable that many who complain are looking at false bass sounds .

Actually to my ears it isn't just music on this phone that sounds bad. When I play Gun Bros and things explode, the explosions distort as well.
I suppose I also use the expression of sounding "bad" as a relative term. Music doesn't sound "bad" I guess but I prefer mine to have much more bass and clarity, and I just don't get that with straight up stock. I do with DSP Manager however.
IMHO, Cyanogen Music Player has much better output than stock. The sound is also much clearer. Power Amp is a very good music player and the equalizer is top notch, but it just doesn't provide the punch I like in my music, I find myself playing with pre-amp a lot, but it tends to distort the sound to a high degree. For now, DSP Manager combined with Cyanogen Music player has been the solution to my problem. Sound is clear, punchier than stock player and PowerAmp, and gives a fuller/bolder music experience. Any one try it out??
I will give it a try. I had been using poweramp on my HTC Hero, with no EQ, just tone, plus DSP Manager with EQ. Sounded perfect for me, but I will give CM player a try and see if I like it as much as you do.
I got excited when I saw DSP Manager and got too lazy to try the music player too right away.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.

With the xiaomi camera app you can only record 1080p with 30fps but you can make slowmotion videos with 240fps. I just downloaded open camera and set the fps to 60fps but it still recorded with 30fps. I saw a video from a guy who recorded with 60fps but I can't find it on youtube anymore... he was walking through a shopping mall or something. If you find it just tell me and I can check the app/settings he used.
Edit: Found it. But he was talking about 4k... However, I was not able to get 4k with 60fps with open camera app too
thank u for reply . really appreciate : ) Im trying to contract that video uploader

Having a pixel 2 xl as well, I think that videos from mi mix 2s are horrible, especially in 4k. 60 fps is missing and stabilization is horrible, videos are shaking as taken with parkinson
Pros:
- 1080p Videos have incredible stabilization (30fps or 120fps)
- Slow Motion is buttery smooth
Cons:
- 4k is shaky as hell and no 60fps
- No Manual Options for Videos
- Audio Quality is horrendous
- Third party support is bad (Filmic Pro and Open Camera only run at 30fps, no other modes)
- No variable FPS, 1080p is only available at 30fps or 120fps (slow mo)
I love the design of the 2s, MIUI and the quality of the final video output but as a videography nerd it's just not enough for me.
Yeah, stability in 1080p is fantastic, but low light quality is pretty bad. Audio was actually ok imo, normally bass in a club makes it a complete mess, and this video was me stood right next to a speaker.

ok, there is a lot of things which can be discussed about picture quality, but one thing is alarming... audio bitrate of videos... it is so low, that it sounds like songs from first mp3 era... my guess is audio bitrate is below 128kbps, sounds like 96kbps to me and this is unacceptable for any recording device... the low bitrate would be ok if .ogg or .aac used, but not mp3 as it lacks sound quality at this bitrate so much

Thanks nice info.
I want to buy this phone. but Im worried it doesnt support Hi-res output.
Hi. A question. What about headphone jack? Is it proper? Mine seems to be a bit bigger. My earphones' jack fits in loosely. I have ANT earphones and Mi Basic as well.
Asus enabled Hi Res output on M1 with the last OTA update. Hope they do the same for M2 soon.

Normally the difference cannot be easily made out... But it offers better quality audio... Audiophiles can probably make out the difference...
This technology seems to be only supported by Poweramp... It most probably will not work in other music players... Unless the music player developer has especially made use of Hi-Res Api

Thank you for the answer. As Asus does not provide a default music player (ignoring Play music ?) for the device, this feature would be unknown/useless to many.
However I still have one doubt; does this work on mp3s, or only onFLACs?
It should work on all
To listen the real Hi-Res
Asus Zenfone max pro m2 have Hi-Res support which is amazing and it sounds amazing only if u use a good pair of headphones and download original Hi-Res Audio files flac and wave

Hi-res only works on Hi-Res Audio files like flac and wav
And the actual meaning of Hi-Res is 24bit of depth rate
All mp3 are 16bit
And flac/wav has 16bit and 24bit
Flac/wav 16bit is lossless Audio
Flac/wav 24bit is Hi-Res Audio
Download the Hi-Res flac/wav for Hi-Res if u play mp3 and hoping u get Hi-Res u r wrong mp3 is lossy and sounds ****

It's not Hi-Res certified and it does not goes way up to 40khz for true Hi-Res,, it's frequency response is 22khz,, but for sure u will get the Hi-Res equivalent quality thanks to it's awesome single dynamic driver , 42ohms impedence and 112 db of sensitivity.
U r all set to enjoy Hi-Res Audio with this earphones .
It has amazing lows, superb mids and clear vocals just a bit ok/ok at highs in frequency ranges where it struggles near 18-20khz freq
If I'm wrong in any aspect feel free to correct me
-Thank You
so is the earphone audio quality still good enough without this?
