G900V on T-Mobile / MetroPCS - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
A few days ago I got a Galaxy S5 Verizon (G900V).
The phone is GSM and unlocked.
I went to MetroPCS and had them activate it. Of course, they
gave me the BS about it being a Verizon phone, but the activation still worked.
Calls and texts work fine.
However, the 4GLTE signal is always very low, and sometimes drops to 3G where the 3G icon is greyed out basically saying I have no data access.
The online time I have good signal is when I mess with the Network modes and ServIceMode options enough to turn the 4GLTE/3G icon info an "E" (for EDGE data), but that is extremely slow.
Is there a way to fix this?
I have root access.
Thanks

I'd also like to mention that I wouldn't mind having HSPA+ if that's all I can get. I just need a stable signal.

Please someone help.

Anyone?

How did they switch it for you? I have a s5 through Verizon and I have service through metro pcs. But I can't get it to switch over to my s5. Can you help me? I'm like 300 miles away from the closest metro pcs so I am doing all of this on my own. I'm a noobie

[Q]Data and MMS help for Tmobile on unlocked i337

Hello, I have an unlocked i337 and i am currently using it with Tmobile. Almost everything seems to be working fine with it except a few hiccups and I was hoping someone could help me figure out what is wrong.
1. After I unlocked it using the service method I was getting 4G (HSPA+) speeds most of the time and sometimes 4G LTE speeds. The data speeds were great and I was receiving incoming and outgoing text messages fine. But while I was able to make calls just fine I was unable to receive any calls. Anyone who dial my number would go straight to voicemail. After messing around a bit with the phone my solution was to us *#2263# and select "WCDMA and GSM only". Once I did that I lost the LTE speeds but I was able to still maintain HSPA+ and receive phone calls.
Any solution to this without sacrificing LTE?
2. While I can can receive MMS messages fine it takes a really, really long time to send one(hours) and sometimes it doesn't send at all. My data is HSPA+ and pretty fast and I have excellent service in my area so I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I have been using Viber and tango to get around it.
Any idea what I can do?
3. I have to make frequent trips to a hospital for my son who has a congenital heart defect(so we are there for 6-7 hours at a time). In the hospital, the service is very poor but they offer free wifi. My previous phone was a tmobile Note 2 and it had wifi calling so I was able to get service while there.
Can I flash a tmobile S4 ROM to get wifi calling to work? Will I lose my unlock or brick my phone if I flash it? Should I use the MOD that enables
all AWS bands first?
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

AT&T S7 Edge signal issue

I have the S7 Edge from AT&T (SM-G935A) and I get terrible reception at work. I have to turn airplane mode on and off 3-5 times during my lunch break just to send a few texts. I also have an older unlocked Note 5 (SM-N920C) which will struggle a bit but will still send and receive every text after a few seconds (20-30) of spinning its little wheel. So the question is why would an unlocked non carrier specific phone lock onto the AT&T signal better than an AT&T phone? I've been into the AT&T store and nthey seem to have no idea. The S7 Edge works great anywhere that I have a couple bars of LTE but when it's struggling with 1 bar of LTE or just plain 4G it's not so great. Any suggestions?
That type of subtle difference in coverage can be caused by the little differences in design. Phones today mostly use the frame for the antenna, so Samsung has to make adjustments for the edge, and the Note 5 simply has more room for the antenna. I haven't pulled the edge apart, but that's my guess based on years in the industry.
The other possibility is that it's struggling to keep an LTE 'enhanced' connection for HD Voice and video calling, which of course an int'l Note doesn't have. Try turning off enhanced LTE in mobile data settings & see if it makes a difference. Or maybe try switching to the HSPA+ 'wap' apn and maybe if it isn't always looking for LTE it'll hold the connection longer
Motorola phone for u bro they have the best signal of any phone I've ever used. Also some believe the way you hold it matters. And cases may effect signal strength. Some buildings affect signal strength as well maybe try a different location.? The note gets better signal because of the size.

Thanks for the suggestions. I switched to the unlocked S7 Edge (935F) and it works even better than the Note 5 did. It makes no sense at all.

FYI, the code you show is incorrect, it should be *#*#4636#*#*. I get an invalid code error message if I use your code.

Guide to get 4G LTE Total Wireless ( Verizon ) with 3G issue

First you need to make sure your APN settings are correct.
With my service I had to change that APN to tracphone.vzwentp and that got my 3G service.
After that Dial *#*#4636#*#* for phone testing
Go into * Phone information *
Then down to * Set preferred network type * and set it to * LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) *
This helped give me 4G LTE
And or you need to change the preferred network under cellular network settings to LTE/CDMA
First post so let me know if I need to change anything thanks
So apparently when I changed the band over to USA Band it gave me LTE. The calling worked for around two days and then just stopped working but I still had LTE.
Once I changed the Band back over to Cellular it gave me calling and txt back. I can switch it back and forth to get either 3G or 4G.
I'm hoping that with the new Nougat update it will fix this issue but for now if your calling and LTE work for you on USA Band more power too you.
If the Nougat update doesn't fix this issue I'm going back to Straight Talk AT&T where I had 4G LTE, Talk, and TXT

What 4g speeds are you getting? Hear Verizon mvno are capped at 5mbps

I only get 5.4mbps down and 2.3mbps up so far.
I'm headed to California in two weeks where I wanted to test it.
Before when I was a Verizon customer I got 65mbps down so I'll see if it's different there too.
It's possible it is throttled. I have Net10 and using the CDMA option because Verizon has awesome signal where I live compared to att. Att did have higher speed rates on LTE but 5mpbs is more than enough for what I need and what anyone should need.
All Verizon MVNOs are throttled to ~5Mbps down, ~2Mbps up. Only Verizon Prepaid proper and Verizon Postpaid are unthrottled.
Hi there, your guide helped me get on LTE. Thank you!
United States band option is located in the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner.
So why in the world is it that these MVNOs recognize this phone straight away using the verizon network, but through VZW I can only get 3G? This is infuriating! I set up several of these for friends on prepaid networks and they all worked straight away with 4G. Finally added our son to our VZW plan so he could use his phone as an actual phone and it's stuck in 3G hell.
I'm on an MNVO using Verizon's network and it defaulted to 3G. I had to do this to get on 4G. I've lost the ability to make phone calls though, so I'm using hangouts for that function.
I can confirm that regular calling does not function on 4G LTE so like the OP, I am having to switch back and forth on Automatic and United States which is aggrivating.
I hope this helps someone:
I have LineageOS 14 nightly installed on this phone. I was going to return it because I was tired of dealing with the switch to make calls.
I figured out that my baseband wasn't the latest, so I figured one final nuclear option of flashing the stock back on to the device would potentially help this.
After a long bout with a soft bricked phone, I managed to get the phone to flash back to stock Amazon adz and then take an OTA. My baseband changed from x45R to x62R.
I then reflashed TWRP and LineageOS 14. It still didn't work but I played around with the settings and managed to get it working. You have to set the Radio Band to Automatic and then you'll get LTE data and CDMA voice. Preferred network type in Mobile network settings is LTE / CDMA. FYI The settings may reset after a reboot.

Note 4 910c Stuck on Edge... Tried Different Tricks Out There...

Hi! I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-910c. The handset is running Android v.6.0.1.
Getting straight to the point, I have an unlimited 4G LTE data plan which I would like to utilise. My device, however, has no 'LTE Only' or '4G Only' option under Mobile Networks settings.
If I select Edge/WCDMA/LTE, the device would always prefer Edge despite LTE reception in the area albeit not as good as Edge. I, however, would really like to use 4G LTE even if it means using it on 2-3 bars.
I have tried using *#INFO#, *#*#INFO#*#*, another code, and a few apps such as Elixir 2, 4G LTE Only but to no use. The codes that I have mentioned earlier don't work on my device.
Do you guys have anything in mind that would help me out? I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!
try this app for only lte mode but not as efficent as toggle network=> (needs root) and you need to know in only lte mode you are not able to calling someone and anyone cannot call you.

[Q] What is needed for voice over WiFi (WiFi calling) on Verizon?

Hey all so I just got the 6t and I use Verizon and noticed that there is no option for WiFi calling. I guess after searching around Verizon needs to enable it? But I'm just confused as to what needs to be done to allow users to use it.
It's a big deal for me because the reception in my house is bad. I have thick walls (wooden log cabin). On past phones my phone's would drop lte to 3g then back a lot and only way around this was to use wifi calling.
To hold me over I just dumped 200 bucks on a lte externder from Verizon (femto cell) but I thought I would ask what needs to happen for Verizon users to get wifi calling and if it would ever come down the road
I would love to know the same info for AT&T
I tried all the modules and tricks to get it working and never could. I had all settings enabled in the hidden menus and by all appearances it should have worked but it never did. I ended up returning the phone because I don't have a good LTE signal at work or my house. Loved the phone otherwise but not getting texts and phone calls was a no go.
