Don't hold your breath, it'll take a while to go through the carrier test process. Maybe by the end of February. ....Why not just release MM?

Today I've installed on my device (E6653 of course) mentioned above the Stagefright Detector app from playstore. The result of the scan you will see in the attached sreenshots I've made.
So I think we've to wait for Sony to fix that in a new firmware release, or is there already a fix to install?
This is the Mediaserver exploit which was fixed by Google with the April patch while Sony's firmware is still on February. Since Sony always stated they won't take part in the monthly fix program don't expect any fix soon.

When did Sony explicitly state they weren't participating in the monthly security updates for their firmware?

LOL, I don't think they even need to, they are stupidly slow to even releasing any updates, maybe expect it in 6 months time when they provide a new update to fix many of the issues we have

Aside: it's now end of May, the most recent patch level is February, 1st.
Don't expect a patch anytime soon, Sony will Sony...
The vulnerability is mitigated by ASLR.
Otherwise ASLR wouldn't play its role.
What are the chances that an actual system's Address Space Layout matches the layout for which the exploit code has been programmed?
Although I've lost track of when exactly they were pushed out by Lenovorola, I seem to recall my MotoX PE getting a November, then February, security patch and the "latest" May 2016 was pushed around July 20th... If that pattern (pushing out every 3rd Google release ~ 10 weeks later) holds true, might we see the August patch pushed later this month? Or will any more 6.0 patches be skipped in light of the future 7.x upgrade (whenever that may be)?
One of the reasons why I'm sticking with CM. they are on Oct. 5th security patch while the normal stock ROM is far behind

I hear you... One of the reasons I bought a Nexus 5X in June when the price dropped. But looking at my MotoX since then reminds me it's otherwise a better phone imho (VoLTE works fine for me on TMo).
Question: I assume you had to unlock your bootloader to root and run CM ? If so, can you relock in that state? I had to unroot and flash stock multiple times before I was finally able to relock... I could be completely wrong, but I would think the benefit of timely, monthly security updates is outweighed by an unlocked bootloader and root access?
According to a twitter reply from Moto Support, they ditched even the quarterly security update.
" We're implementing essential patches. As new security issues emerge, we will evaluate them and update your phone as needed.-Maya"
Evaluating, means they may or may not release security patches so do not hold your breath for an August updated. Yet, Moto Support on twitter was very quick to reply the first inquiry. I encourage everyone to contact them with questions @Moto_Support Let them know or demands!
The rumors are true! Android 8.0.0 will officially launch on August 21st along with the day of the solar eclipse.
Information regarding the countdown can be located on the official android site at : https://www.android.com/eclipse/
Yes, old news and just two threads down from yours

I like your thread title better though.
It has been confirm by evan blast that it will be OREO
Will this just be an announcement or does the official release date mean that we will get images and OTAs on the same day, or maybe on the September security patch day?

From what I know, the countdown is when they will reveal Android O and push the OTAs, although the OTAs may be delayed due to update delays and such.
Leaks suggest that August 20 2018 Google will release Official Android P.. name is still unclear but it will be the name of a dessert (treat) starting with P.
Last few Android major releases were all released at about this time in August, so this makes sense. Then we will get a .1 bump when Pixel 3 is released in November.

If I remember rightly Oreo was released on 21st so makes probably would call this leak legit
Seems about right. Google said it would be released in the 3rd quarter and last year Android O was released August 21st.
Official Android p is coming this month signs of release
Now I've been paying attention to Google I know every month on the 5th Google releases a security patch update well I believe that Augusts security patch will only be included in the official Android p update coming later this month on the 20th..
I know Nexus 6P won't receive Android P but I was wondering: will this mean a complete stop to security updates as soon as P is released or there's still some time with security updates guaranteed by Google?
Looks like the updates for the Nexus 6P will end with either the October or November monthly security updates. https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4457705?hl=en#nexus_devices
Are the Lineage builds available reasonably updated as far as security patches are concerned? Or would I be better off buying a new phone (something I'd avoid if possible, 6P is still doing all I bought it for)?
