I really dislike the default Samsung gallery app and I'm wondering if there's a way to specifically make it so Quickpic can be accessed through the stock camera app by pressing the preview button in the top left corner. Freezing/disabling the Gallery app does NOT prompt you to select a default gallery app when pressing the preview button.
Instead, it prompts this message:
(Because I can't post links to external images, see the first attachment.)
I should probably add that there are no permissions for gallery to open as the default gallery, so that's not the issue. (Quickpic is set as the default).
(Because I can't post links to external images, see the second attachment.)
Is there any possible way to get the stock camera app to use Quickpic as the default gallery? I'm rooted with no custom ROMs, just default TouchWiz.
Thanks in advance!
Nope

I'm sure he would've preferred that answer when the last reply in this thread was made.
Please don't revive old, dead threads.
I'm not posting this for the sake of OP, I'm posting it for anybody who asks the same question, gets directed to this topic by google, and gets disappointed by the NO answer - while in reality the answer is YES it's possible.
And by the way I've had the same question several years ago, when I had a Samsung Galaxy S, then again more than a year ago, when I got an S3. Didn't hear about Xposed then, so I just accepted "it's not possible" as an answer. So even a year later, the answer is still relevant and might be useful.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with my SGS3. From my understanding you should uninstall/freeze the default gallery app and next time you try to open the gallery from the Camera app, the phone should ask which app should be used to view the picture.

I tried freezing. It won"t work either. My problem is getting to albums from the Contacts app, when I need to add a picture to a contact. If I freeze the Gallery there will be no Image option in the Contact Photo window opened for selection of the photo source for a contact. It means I cannot get into my albums for photo selection. And since my contacts photo album is organized by name, I am having hard times when looking for a right photo for my contacts. QuickPic could solve this...
Don"t understand how this so basic and obvious feature is missing in such a complex and long time running on millions devices OS?

I feel your pain, I have similar idea. But maybe the blame is misdirected, the Contacts app comes from Samsung, doesn't it? They made some of their apps too tightly integrated with each other, not giving the user the flexibility to choose the gallery app. I'm planning to try another ROM (e.g. CyanogenMod) to get a look at the pure Android experience.

You too, cheers!
Hi, i was thrilled to use the Galaxy S5 as my daily especially when i used the camera quite often to do my work. But when i want to explore more of its camera mode and move to samsung app store it was a huge disappointment when it says "Your device or country is only available for limited service". It really is annoying and defeat the purpose of having "download" option when i can have none
So, my question is, is there anything i can do about it? i tried vpn but no success or i might do it wrong.
It would be better if anyone have the apk for it:
I'm looking for:
Surround shot mode
Sport shot mode
Sound & shot mode
Animated photo mode

The problem with a Chinese ui is that it's killing the background push service. If you open recent apps swipe down the specific app and it gets locked. I guess you should have neo safe. In that you can setup power behavior for each app. Ignore background process of WhatsApp and so on and keep it alive in the menu.

This can actually be done, but it is a bit weird:
go to: Settings --> Notification center --> application notification --> down to Whatsapp
Enable all of them (or leave some out as you wish)
Also, in the current app overview (long press red circle) swipe down Whatsapp so it has a lock next to it. This will prevent the system from killing the service.
I also disabled powersaver mode and power saving control in the battery settings (below "other system settings")
Then I went into the NeoSafe app --> Power --> right top settings icon --> Background protection whitelist --> add whatsapp
Also in the NeoSafe I added Whatsapp to autostart: Permission --> Power-on speedup --> Enable Whatsapp
It might be that some of it is not necessary, but this works for me. Now I'm getting all the notifications as they come in Whatsapp
consider upgrade to latest OS build# NX569H_ENCommon_V1.07 shall fix all these issue
To get my messaging and email apps to work I've had to root and push the apps to the system. No problems now.
Thanks for All your answers.
Joren90 - I haven't even noticed NeoSafe app . I did what you wrote and I think it works!
*Do you know guys how to root this phone? Last phone I rooted was HTC one V.
*Will it get an official nougat update?
I'm currently using NX569J_ENCommon_V1.33 ROM version. Looks little bit Chinese
* One more question: Is it possible to get the notification counter on application's icon? I mean when I get a message on Whatsapp could I also get a "1" attached to WhatsApp's icon? Only rooting and getting extra app is a solution I guess?
Thanks again and have a nice day!

Official nougat ROM comes out in august for the mini.
For root u need to get the twrp script then flash the latest super user zip. This can be found here:
http://bbs.nubia.cn/thread-910474-1-1.html
For the notification counter another launcher might work.
Thanks Mackay53!
Nice to hear that Nubia gets official Nougat update.
But since I have no "system update" option in my settings menu do I have to upgrade it myself via some app/pc software??
After almost one week using my Nubia with new settings I'm gonna share a little update with you:
*All the notifications (WhatsApp, email) are working fine and I have no problems whatsoever
*The quality of the phone, speed of the phone, quality of the photos and videos are great as for the price I bought it (250€).
Although I like this phone already I really want to... sell it. The lack of OIS is bothering me. In fact it doesn't have any image stabilization... At least it doesn't work for me at all. The quality of videos is great but all the "shakiness" is killing the nice feel of the video quality.

You can install the update by downloading the ROM from the chinese Nubia support pages or the EU version from the nubia India support pages. You then need to enter recovery mode when phone is off by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power Button at the same time.
If you install twrp and root you can install a couple nougat custom roms (mokee + reserection remix) instead of waiting till august for official ROM. Phone becomes a lot more smoother and faster.

We were talking about Z17 Mini. But I guess they're both almost the same when it comes to OS.
I get the notification counter ? No rooting needed. I've installed Nova launcher and TeslaUnread plugin . But then you have to allow both apps (Nova+ Tesla plugin) in your NeoSafe app.
Btw. How is your EIS working? Anybody?
neosafe enable
how to enable neosage in the 2.04 global rom?, since the same e is inactive

hi guys,
to allow notifications do the following:
joren90 suggestion:
go to: Settings --> Notification center --> application notification --> down to Whatsapp
Enable all of them (or leave some out as you wish)
Also, in the current app overview (long press red circle) swipe down Whatsapp so it has a lock next to it. This will prevent the system from killing the service.
then go to settings --> Apps and in the top right corner there are three vertical dots
touch it and choose auto-start management
allow Whatsapp or app you need and it should work even when the power save management is on
works on build v2.10

I could not get it to work and looks like in all MIUI roms it's crippled. There is a Bluetooth unlock in lockscreen menu but it's only available with whitelisted Xiaomi gear it seams. Kinda confirmed on other MIUI forums basically they replaced it with their version and only for their devices. The prompt shows only the first time you pair a new device and you can add it but it does nothing and no way to get back in. I tried to trigger all activities from google service framework but could not get back in, only with new BT device will and i ran out of devices to try. No location trigger works

Ok, installed, granted root access, defined my home as trusted place
Locked the screen - it still asks me for pin, cannot unlock without
(I know how to use it, it works perfectly for me on Huawei Mate 9 but here cannot get it to skip entering my pin when I am at home and want to unlock the screen)

Do you really have Xiaomi Mi 9T with stock ROM (and which) and did you really make Smart (un)lock to work for your (home) place, and how?

Unfortunately, true. I was surprised when
@Tizio.Qualunque claimed a 'solution'?!
I've seen many threads for Mi 9T and other Xiaomi phones but never seen anybody claiming that he/she set it up to to really unlock without a pin (or how to do it).
Btw, before I installed this Smart Lock app as he suggested, I got pop-ups by Google Smart lock several time, asking me if I want to set up my (home) location for smart (un)locking (now, during Corona I'm almost all the time at home and unlock the phone by pin tens of time during the day, because unfortunately FOD is very unreliable). So I always confirmed that I want, but still it never worked for unlocking
I can only hope that Xiaomi maybe fix it for MIUI 12, but frankly I don't believe.

Yes. A huge minus.
Use face unlock. Use Mi band or some kind of Mi watch (bluetooth unlock is limited to only one device... ). It's stuipid - I know. But this is only think you may do if you want your phone to be unloceked when you are near.
Eventually you may try Tasker.
I've been dealing with this since miui 6.
As others have said, MIUI has removed all access to smart lock. The only reason you get the notification is because it's served by Google Play services. They can't touch it.
Even if you access the menu by root, it still won't work because MIUI uses its own lock screen, not the stock lockscreen.
They keep kneecapping the Android features, and later introduce them as "new". The only people who actually like MIUI are people who've never used stock Android
More examples from my experience in MIUI 6 :
1. They didn't have face unlock or bluetooth unlock. But Android had it since the previous 2 versions. They added it in the next MIUI as a flagship feature. And it's still bad. It unlocked for my brother's face.
2. Split screen. One generation late.
3. Picture in picture mode. Dunno if it's available even now

select widget so hard, no app drawer, lots of bugs, lags (frame drop) anywhere. MIUI good for peoples come from iOS to android. (Animation, Animation, Animation. Not smooth ux, not easy to use ROM)
I bye Xiaomi phone for good hardware and great price.
Don't forget we are in android. For any feature we can find a nice third-party app.

Not fixed in MIUI 12 / Android 10.
Makes it impossible to do hands-free calling in the car., since you can't make calls anymore with the screen locked.
Only ways I can see around it is:
1. Keep your phone unlocked,
2. Have face unlock set and place your phone where it can "see you" at all times.
3. Get a cheap Mi band or some other MI product, add it as a trusted device, and keep it charged in your car.
This is utter nonsense from Xiaomi.
With MIUI 12, Android 10 and by using Root Smart Lock app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rachel030219.smartlocklauncher
I can setup my trusted place and it remembers, but still it doesn't keep the phone unlocked at my home (I must use the fingerprint or pin)
I was thinking if some permissions are missing
I tried it on MI11 with MIUI 12.5 and with the app mentioned, but still not working :-(
Hello to everyone,
I hope someone could help me, i need to record any phone call that i make/receive, the phone should record the call without messages to the caller about the phone call is recorded.
Did someone can tell me how can i do this? i have seen that one option is to root the device but if someone have other suggestion is better for me than root the device.
I have also tried this app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cord-phone-calls-from-the-phone-line.1441643/ but use the microphone so sometimes there are very noise.

Yes. I am in the same situation. The only things I can think of are, 1. A call recorder app. or, 2. Using a different dialer, say from a Oneplus phone. But I'm still looking into it. I have been using a call recorder app that seems to work somewhat okay but not that great.
I Hope Simeone could help US..
I have also seen that changing the phone app Is not the solution because some apps uses CSC

That's good to know because I was going to try it. The thing is, depending on what version you have, call recording is built in. So that tells me that all variants could have it built in maybe ? Not sure but I am continuing to do research when I have the time.
Yes, I think that every android phone have this functionality, the problem is that phone app use CSC to enable o not, this is what I have understand

I know that on some newer OnePlus phones you can change the dialer to get call recording. I would think that the Nothing Phone would be similar but at this point I'm totally unsure.

I also read that you can root the phone and use a magisk mod. But I'm not ready to root the phone just yet because it's still under warranty.

Same for me, i don't want to root my phone just for the call recording... but yes, there is this mod that seems really simple....
GitHub - jacopotediosi/GAppsMod: Tweak Google apps (e.g., Phone and Messages) to unlock hidden features (e.g., available only in some countries or on certain devices). Root is required.

In India you can legally record calls. I wonder if the dialer from those ROMS would world on the global versions.
@rogerrulez, i don't know if the dialer of the indian phone it's unlocked or if check also the CSC of the phone....
We could try this:
Enable Native Call Recording + OP Stock Dialer on OnePlus 10 Pro
Hi guys, Just upgraded from OP7T to OP10 Pro as a European user. Call recording functionality does not come with the device here. Had native call recording enabled on my OP7T through jOnePlus Tools and the likes. Jtools Oneplus does not install...

I tried to install it already but it won't install. Says phone needs to be rooted. But now that I'm thinking about it, I did install that app on a non rooted oneplus 7t before. Just have to give it permission via ADB. I think i might try it again and see if I can get it to install..
Correction. I tried to install just the joneplustools. This one is different.

Yeah, the joneplus tools says: can't install on this device. This app says: "something went wrong. Can't install app".
@rogerrulez
Damn... so i think the last chance is to root the device, but for now i don't want and i still to use the SKVALEX app...
Please keep me updated if you find a way to do this :-D

Not really. I do have two apps installed that are recording calls pretty good ! One of them I installed from Google play called Call recorder. And the other one is one that I came across in one of the posts for the Nothing phone. I have both running at the same time and both are recording calls pretty good. However, I would rather have the inbuilt option.
I'm from Italy and have Nothing Phone for a couple of weeks now so I may be missing something.
I've tried ACR, a well thought app for call recording, but unfortunately it doesn't record bluetooth calls (earphone or car's) so as a couple of other apps. I guess it's a problem that every third party app is having, given Google policy.
So, I'm using the Google phone app call recording utility (upper right corder three dots > settings > call recording). This option has popped out the first time I put in the sim card. I suppose everyone can access this option but with Google you never know...
This makes available a button on the phone screen, a switch between call recording and not recording. Actually, it's only manageable when the call is started and it's available switching in the second screen of the app.
Overall it works pretty well, even on Bluetooth calls. The calls are accessible via the call log history and can de saved. The only drawdown is that you have to put a meaningful name to the file when saving it.
What drives me CRAZY is that it doesn't have the option to ALWAYS record the calls. Apparently, it's an available option (Google has a help page dedicated: https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/9803950?hl=en) but not for the Italian version. Or at least for my version
Does anyone know if and how I can make it a permanent choice? I don't want to manually switch it every time...
Any help is very appreciated

You could use MacroCroid. It can press the button for you and fill in the name for you too. You need a fair amount of time to set it up but it would work good.

Thanks for the tip! I thought the same and tried something similar yesterday (Tasker and another app, forgot the name) but gave up for the amount of time needed!
Going to try MacroCroid anyway, hopefully it's a little bit less complicate
Thanks again

You might like to share the macro you build here and change the title to [Solved] enable auto phone call recording
I love to help, have fun!
