Hi,
I am owning mate 8 dual sim mocha gold sine a week, i am also owing mate s, i like them both.
I am writing may Huawei listen for the thinks i missed on my mate 8 to improve it or to add it in next firmware release.
1. Knuckle wake up feature is missing in mate 8.
2. The is no time to set for the screen lock on smart cover, for example if i need to lock it after 2 minutes, I can't, if the cover closed the phone will look direct.
And the most important feature which is disappeared which is guest mode

I have used various mobililes ranging from sony ealier smart phones, htc windows phone (ealier versions) , from 2006 have been an avid iphone fan & used iphone 2 / 3g / 4 (bought 2 times), bb z10, but this is the best phone I ever used !!! its really fantastic in design / speed / excellent speakers & functionality (this is my 1st android), i feel apple has lost its mojo after s.jobs...
only wish a few things cud change...
1) a way to wake the phone from home button or volume or touching the screen in gesture... i find reaching the top button a pain everytime...
2) get the latest version of the operating system...
3) ummm well rest is perfection...

1)with custom kernel you have this possibility. but you have to unlock bootloader and root. there is also the volum wake features, you have to look in android developed thread.
2) soon will be released jb 4.2.2

Just use the Gravity Screen Off app available in the Google Store for free and never touch the top button again. Works beautifully especially with Better Wifi On/Off.

We all know it can be a bit of pain while on the Tube and you quickly want to unlock your phone and the Iris or face scanner don't work first time so you painfully need to look behind the phone to find the finger print scanner, but this is all about muscle memory.
I'm in the UK and just a few hours a go i got an update, i found myself having to register my Face again as it was not properly working. Also I'm either going crazy or completely missed it, i now find that under the Face unlock settings there is a "Faster recognition" setting that can be turned on. Not sure if this is new or it was there already. If in case you missed this i must say, make sure you turn this on, it changed the Face unlock feature completely for me, at least 90% of the time it works compared to 50/50 before the update. So make sure you look for updates if you just got your new S8 and turn the "Faster Recognition" setting on, as this might make a difference.
Another tip and this is my personal opinion, i found it better to actually register your face as close as possible. When registering your face, ignore the "20cm" it tells you to do, make sure you get close enough so that your face covers mostly the screen but not 100% of it, i found this to be better in normal day use (pulling your phone out of your pocket and looking down on it) instead of having to bring the phone up and close to your face. Another tip would be give your face a little wiggle, simply nod a tiny bit left and right while staring at the front camera, i found that this can help most of the times when the phone is taking more time than necessary to recognize your face.
If you have any other tips make sure to leave it below as this can help new users not having the best experience with this feature.
*I can tell some people do not have "Faster Recognition" option available. Just hold on , you should be getting an update soon.

i am due a upgrade i Am thinking of getting the huawei p10 but i am put off getting a new phone because of the finger print scanners that are featured on nearly all smartphones now.i know theres probably a setting on the phone where you can turn it off but i dont trust that it will be completly disabled.is there a way of completely disabling the fingerprint scanner or a easy way to cover it so it doesnt work

never enroll any finger print on it then...just use PIN or pattern for unlock
F.P Scanners are a choice not a necessity on any smart phone, just dont activate "Enroll" it during any devices first setup...
I dont use them either, never have, but the Hauwei FP scanners are so good,, that Im thinking of giving it a go
Is there a reason for not using the FP scanner?

Been wanting this phone since release difficulties getting it (I'm in the UK) and the price of it ruled it out for me at the time.
In hindsight I'm glad I've left it until now as obviously there were a few issues on release and as I understand it many of these have been ironed out with 8.1.
I just wondered if anyone could answer the below...
1. Does it yet have double tap to wake? I saw in some earlier posts it was due to come ?
2. Does it have, can it get face unlock. With us some months on now since its release many of the current phones have this and my current phone (honor 10 ) also. It's a feature I have to found to be really useful with not having double tap to wake.
3. Does the phone have Google now page to left of homescreen?
4. Being in the UK can anyone recommend the best charging plug to use as obviously this with come with a 2 pin plug.

2. Standard Google Smart Unlock has face unlock option. Finger print reader is much faster.
3. Yes.
4. You can use an adapter along with the supplied charger. Just Google us to uk power adapter. Or else buy any USB PD charger.
Hi there.
The fingerprint open time is sucks with G6. Is there anyway to improve it. ? Make it quicker.
Maybe disabling the animation will increase it.. or something like that.
yeah, disable system animations under developer settings its a better idea, other idea that i already did on mine and in other phone that i hae with fingerprint is: register only 2 fingers, the more used one make 3 times registering that and the other for emergency times (wen you damage the finger number one or something like that) register 2 times, since the device can save up to 5.
i can guarantee you make this little things will improve best your experience with the phone overall.
before registering the fingers make sure your fingers are clean, supa dupa clean i mean, and the fingerprint scanner too.
