Hi i have a lg d801 running kit kat. Im getting 4.5 hours of screen on time. I dont play any games or listen to music. Im just watching youtube videos and on social networking. I was wondering if this is the average screen on time.
I use mine in between classes for about 20 minutes at a time. Then for an hour at lunch and until about 7:00pm. At that point, I have MAYBE 3h screen on time and I'm down to 20% when I go to plug it in.
I think it's normal.
Re
I usually get about 5 hours of Screen-on time using stock ROM w/ root.

i think it's ok...
since you mostly use internet connection (wifi or mobile) - that in combination with screen on drains the most out of the battery... (i.e. facebook itself is one of the biggest drainers on my device after screen)
also - video playing drains the battery too... so it's ok i guess...
i also don't play games and get around 5, 5 1/2 hrs SOT (i read articles mostly + social networking + youtube here and there)

Sounds about right to me. No need to worry.
7 am 100% charged. Used 1.5 hours at school. Then used the whole day. 9 hours screen on time
I think these LI-PO batterys wear out a bit faster than LI-ion, after 6 months my screen on time with my usual usage started to decrease, in the past I had about 5,5 h of screen on time within a period of 48 h, now I barely get 4,5. I've tried a few rom+kernel combinations but I always get the same result, i think I will try my old stock non rooted rom for a week just for the fun of it to see what happens.
Did anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?
On stock roms i get 4,5 on average too. On aosp/cm ~7.
4-5 hours sot here as well. However I do sometimes manage to get maximum 6 hrs sot when i have light-moderate use.
any changes or still the same?
im getting arround 3:15 ,3:15 hours and its so awefull , how much do you get and what to do ?
You'll find that SOT will be a wide range without at least some defined criteria to follow. While usage (games and videos will simply murder battery) and cell coverage will play a huge role in the disparity, you'll also find a difference based on other factors like ROM (stock vs. AOSP/CM), kernel, time off the charger, phone's % awake time, etc. With all that said, 3-4 hrs seems to be the avg for many users who run AOSP/CM, have bad cell coverage, or otherwise poorly optimized phones. Those who do some optimizing (Greenify, Amplify, custom kernel, etc.) will find 4-5 hrs on avg. Those who do some heavy optimizing with their phone may find 5-6 hrs.

Thank you for replying , do you have any tips on optimization , im on stock 6.0.1 rooted , no kernel (i tried to install franken but couldnt make the wifi work)
I managed to get 7hs, but once. It really depends on your usage. My Pure is pretty much modified (lowered resolution, underclocked, limited cores, using mods and apps).
well, might be 12-16 hour for normal use
stock Rom, with root
stock kernel with 5core offline during screen off

Never hit 3 hours and I am not a power user by any means I gave up trying to fix it months ago. I am completely stock as well.

I am looking for MXPE too as it has Unlockable bootloader but after reading its bad reviews about its battery life makes me no go for MXPE.
PS: Currently Owned LG G2 gaving me about 4-5 avg SOT, 7 hours SOT With Extreme Mods(Cust.kernel, greenify, servicely etc).

I have my Moto X Style since a month now. I use Greenify to shut down apps when the phone is about to rest for a few hours while I'm working. I'm not rooted, so completely stock.
I don't have a screen on time, but think the battery is far to be so bad. Coming from an Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 5.5, the Moto X Style (or Pure Edition) battery is better. And the fact that with a power charger it charges so quickly (70 minutes or so), battery is not an issue at all for me so far.
Phone is quick and great and I think the camera does a killer job, better than I thought it would. Screen is awesome as well.

4-5 hours on stock MM
Best I've ever gotten, the phone shutdown less than a minute after this screenshot... Just over 10 hours of use, including about an hour and a half of airplane mode, and nearly 4.5 hours screen on time. This took keeping brightness way down and I was lucky not to have poor signal during the entire time.
Sad part is this seems impressive for this device... I came from a Moto G 2015 and it would go 18 hours of use with 6-7 hours of SOT easily, or a more typical day of 3.5-4 hours SOT over 16 hours of use and around 50% battery remaining. I never really worried about battery life on that device like I do now.
Seriously debating on going back, selling my MXPE well it still has decent value, and either grabbing a G4 or waiting for the new Nexus devices.

I have rooted my phone yesterday and has since then installed Amplify, Greenify, Servicely, Coolify, and Titanium backup to disable all that is considered as "bloatware" by Package Disabled Pro (which the app itself does not function on rooted devices). I can't say for sure my SOTs yet, but battery seems to be draining pretty fast for me and it heats up faster than normal when on stock. And I also did flash the fix zip for all the bugs after root.
How are all of you all phones after root and what other adjustments have any of you done?
Just an update for leaving my fully charged phone unplugged overnight, I lost 4% at a rate of 0.7% an hour over nearly 6 hours. Checked Gsam stats and I saw phone signal was using 80 something percent of the power.

I experienced the same, higher battery consumption, slower phone and it heats up pretty quickly even just being in one app for longer than 5 mins. I tried the interactive kernel and still the same. Also I had greenify, forcedoze, naptime, Amplify you name it and the phone would not enter that "doze" mode it was supposed to, something in the background was not letting the phone sleep. Also something that bothered me a lot was the lag. I haven't been able to get at least 3 hrs SOT, before root with greenify I was able to do 4.5-5 hrs SOT with normal usage. I am seriously thinking to reverting back to stock.

Aha, that sounds about right. I'm at 51% right now and it's only 2 hours of SOT. Although that's mostly because of a lot of overheating here in Orlando and playing Pokemon Go, I still see pretty fast drainage from just using any one app too.
I just flashed and 935 U and rooted the night before last,so I haven't had much time on it yet, but mine has been much better. I was about to send my phone in to have the battery replaced because I could hardly get 2 or 3hrs of sot on stock. Yesterday I used it very heavy, redownloading all my Gear VR apps and games and playing Minecraft VR for almost an hour. I did a lot of other work and downloading apps and at the end I had 4hrs of sot and still had 20% left, though I don't remember my total time on battery.
I did more adjusting today, I turned on all the Xposed options in Greenify, and greenifyed a ton of apps following the Guide for flashing U firmware, and so far I have 84% with 6hrs on time and about and hour of sot time.
I though I heard it takes a couple of days for Greenify and Amplify to learn and make adjustments. Maybe give it a few days. I am not sure if you did or not, but I have always found that it is a good idea to do a factory reset when doing major system adjustments like rooting, or major updates.

Whoops.... My bad. I'd still like to know accurate battery stats and see what's his setup is though. I think I realized that my phone may be heating up too quickly because I altered the governor when I don't think I needed to after flashing @psouza4 's fix+debloat zip for my phone.
That puts in debate though, will the 935U make a huge difference in battery life?

Honest mistake, I have no comment on the other things you've mentioned unfortunately as I've decided to wait it out until things get a little more stable with the rooted firmware. First smart phone I've owned where I haven't rooted immediately after an exploit was found. I just need everything to work right now with little intervention on my part lol... smh... it's a sad sad day for me

I am at work and don't have time at the moment to go over everything at the moment, but when I will write it out and get some screenshots. I ended up with 4hrs 27mins sot last night and had 13% left. I should mention that I leave the brightness on auto, because I imagine that make's a big difference and a lot of people like their screens at max brightness.
I ended up being busy so I don't have time to mention everything tonight but here is some picture proof. It wasn't as good today, I think because I work in the basement of a hospital where the service is bad and I am constantly switching between wifi antenna's. I also realized that Amplify doesn't come pre-setup, so it wasn't doing much of anything. Tonight I set it up so I am anxious to see if it helps. I also bought better battery stats today so I can get some more detailed info. Wednesday I am off and might be able to test it better.
I will also say I have way less lag after switching to U firmware and rooting. Mine was getting pretty bad on stock. I like having more control over what I can freeze again.
My battery drain is about the same before and after root, which is 2 or 3% an hour in standby with AOD on and BT connected to Gear S2. Wifi off unless charging, nearby device scanning off, Android backup off, all of psouza4's tweaks, brightness on auto, etc. Screen-on time generally close to 5 hours if I'm indoors, which I usually am, though I never use it that long without charging it. I looked just now and with 51% charge I have 2h24m SOT and 7h30m powered on. Most of that was light use reading news and stuff.
I might try the U firmware just for fun, not to try and get better battery life.
Overall, basically no change in battery life for me according to the discharge rates (%/hr).

Yeah, something isn't cutting out for me being on root. I had much better battery life before easily achieving 1 hour of SOT by 88-90% and 3 hours of SOT by 50%. Something is really draining my phone faster than usual despite all the battery mods I did even on the U firmware.
If only I could be on the U firmware and keep the Advanced Calling and Visual Voicemail. >__>
battery life and performance issues are why I am back to stock after flashing all roms that are out there and still not worth being rooted.. I have been waiting for the better roms to come forward, but not to much support for the Verizon s7 due to the locked bootloader
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Battery doesn't drain that much, but I've only tested it for a day so far so I may update this in the future
Manage all apps automatically & smart display
5:48 @ 04% ~ 3.63 minutes to drain 1%
4:08 @ 18% ~ 3.02
2:19 @ 53% ~ 2.96
3:51 @ 29% ~ 3.25
4:29 @ 17% ~ 3.24
Same as above then towards the end of the day switched to 720p & auto manage apps off
5:11 @ 21% ~ 3.93
720p & auto manage apps off
7:14 @ 11% ~ 4.88
I think this is more because of the aggressive ram management when manage all apps is on, and what seems to be a bug with smart display. Restarting apps so many times must drain battery. I will try tomorrow at QHD+ and see the SOT
Also worth noting I do not game, I listen to a lot of music (most of the working day) and stream YouTube to and from work I have over 100 installed apps and 6 messaging apps which I switch to frequently. I have news apps that refresh every hour on data or mobile.
standby drain seems a lot over night about 2x the mah than the OnePlus 6 that I have
Barely need to look for a charger thru out the day
Amazing .
Is yours a Boe or LG screen?
QUOTE=Darkat70;78334851]Amazing .[/QUOTE]
Mine is a BOE screen, 18B02.
Pretty awesome to get that SOT, with 43% battery left. I used my GPS for 30 minutes, watched about 20 minutes of YouTube, 30 minutes of Slotomania game.
On standby I lose about 5% battery in 7 hours or so.
Agreed. I am absolutely loving the battery life on this thing, it insane how much heavy usage 1 Charge cycle can take.
I average around 7-8hours SOT, sometimes 9hours and that's with the screen set to 60% Brightness. Absolutely insane, and it just keeps chugging along.
Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
SOT on LG panel. Truly amazing at more than 6 hours with 40% juice left.
How you get like 8h-9h sot? Usually i have 5.30
i have 3h... how is possible? xD
Hi I get about 6 hours ost is that good.? I have brightness on about 90% and WiFi on at all times I have seen ppl get 7-8 hours ost should I keep manage apps automatically on or turn it off any advice appreciated guys
This bad boy is killing all phones when it comes to battery life..
Here are my stats.
Today was a heavy use day so I only got just over a day of use. I usually get about 2 days before needing to charge. So either one day at 9h SoT or two days at 7h30 SoT, I guess it depends which apps I use too. I try to charge above 5% and stop at 95%.
WQHD+, auto manage apps on, dark theme everywhere I can, never have both wifi and 4G on at the same time and am in Airplane mode during the night to limit battery drain (very effective, I never lose more than 3-5%).
I do a lot of web browsing, a bit of gaming and YouTube, and Facebook/Messenger are probably running in the background and are used a lot.
I rarely have brightness above 50%, except for videos. I mostly stay between 15 and 50%.
System update .153
I noticed that my battery life isn't as good as it was with ly first mate 20 pro that was equipped with an LG display. Since i got my replacement using a BOE screen, battery drains faster. I still manage to get 6/7h of SOT so i'm not complaining but it was better before
BOE screen here, power save mode, 1080p forced resolution gives me 12+ hrs SOT.
Same settings on S7Edge got me 8 hrs...but then again, that battery is 3 years old, therefore around 82% capacity.
Happy camper so far.
The stats i gave were achieved with the exact same settings as i used with the LG equipped one. I used to have 1/2h more of SOT
Battery life is just too good and with the new update 152 makes it even better S

Considering A OP5 right now and battery life is very important for me.
I'm pretty sure that the 3300mah battery mated to the sd835 are allright for normal use but how much drain do you get when playing pubg? and at wich settings?
Thanks yall
I've only played it a few times but I didn't notice any any terrible battery drain. However I'm not a big gamer and didn't play for longer than maybe 40 minutes.

I do a fair bit of gaming and played PUBG for a while. I can say the battery life on the OP5 is pretty damn good. I generally get about 3.5 to 4.5 hours of SOT gaming but this is while playing various games not just 1 in one sitting so I can say for certain about how much you will get on PUBG on max settings.
I have been playing Ragnarok M for the past 2.5 hours and I started when my battery was 100%. After 2.5 hours of SOT, I am at 60% right now. Ragnarok M runs at 720p so not as intensive as PUBG.
Update: 4 hours and 40 minutes on Ragnarok M and 18% battery left.

I am using 9.0.3 with xXx Magisk rom 4.3. I use Affinity kernel with L Speed set to the battery profile. I have no issues with lag in gaming with this setup.
I play PUBGM for close to 5 hours on Graphics as 'Smooth' and FPS as 'Extreme' with anti-aliasing turned off along with auto adjust(?) of graphics. I am left with 15 to 20% battery at the end. I am using the OB26 with the stock kernel and no changes to the system apart from bloatware removal. It's also worth noting that I only have ~30 apps installed on my phone and ~10 of them have the permission to stay active in the background.

Will you give a link to OB26? OB24 is on the official website
With stock settings and a good brightness level say about 60% with settings as Smooth and Extreme you can get a 25% per hour drain at the maximum. Mostly it averages between 20 and 25 per hour. So expect a sot of 4 to 4 and half hours.
Also do consider your battery degradation also to account. My phone is almost 2 years old so it has lost some capacity.
