New to s5, recommend rom? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm an HTC guy have been for years and always use android revolution HD by mike, but am looking at rooting my girlfriends s5 for a stable marshmallow, any suggestions?

CM13 is a nice MM ROM

We personally don't recommend roms or which one is the best or not,
it's a try out and find the one you wan't to settle with, but from time to time i like to change system
i agree ARHD rom creater is a great guy/team used it on ASUS TF101 D;

The point of checking everyone is to see which one suits you, Ashani recommends ARHD whilst i recommend Hydr0G3nMOD and personally would stick with a CM7 based ROM, but the only way you can be really sure is to try them out until you find one that fits your likes.

Anyone know the best and stablest rom

i am just wanting to know if anyone knows a really good rom for my htc hd2(tmobile) i have tried quite a lot of them but still not to impressed by them? please helpa
Avoid asking about the best if you can. As for a ROM you may like try AmeriCanAndroid. It's a CM7 port that Copenhagen and I work on. I'm a TMo person too btw.

If you are looking for the most stable and fast rom, try tytung Gingerbread v2.9. Many will tell you that it is simply the best andriod rom out there.

This is kinda like asking what do you prefer crunchy or creamy peanut butter...your bound to get many different responces. lol.
Check out this site. It lists almost all the nand android ROMs found here on XDA in a place thats much easier to find it.
AmeriCanAndroid is a great ROM and its updated often so thats always a good starting point. if your one that prefers HTC sense then maybe try out RAFDROID HD. i've personally found this ROM very fast and stable. If you like more of a iphone type feel then try a miui ROM out. i would suggest LADY MIUI or D4RK MIUI.
There really is no one best ROM, i think anyway. This is because everyone has their phone set up slightly different and also want different things on their cell. just try out a few ROMs intill you find something you want to stick with for a little bit of time and see how it goes. It took me several months to settle on a ROM because i always wanted to flash every new ROM that came out. lol.
I tried Miui, Sense and cynogen based roms; Miui has the best home applications like the camera app, phone app, etc. The fastest (real difference), with lots of tweaks and the best baterry for me is Dorimanx High end rom, although some of his builds are not stable because he is always updating his rom. Im using dorimanx rom right now, although im waiting to see if Hyperdroid is updated wich is another excellent rom.
Hello,
I tried BoyPPC ROMs and it's quite fast, stable and regularly updated so it seems well followed.

But I agree with previous comments that it depends on your configuration and your needs. each one has pros and cons and you should just test the one that best fits to your needs.
Since Feb I'm using AmeriCanAndroid (well, cope's sd rom at that time, before he and warrenb started together AmeriCanAndroid). Haven't changed to anything else since then. Have switched to the nand version since 2-3 weeks and I'm happy with it.
Pyramid
I tested many Roms.
Because I like that HTC stuff, I searched a long time for a stable Sense 3 ROM.
This ROM is amazing and works verry well and smooth:
Pyramid HTC WWE 1.35.401.1 - Real 3D [V2.2][RAF 1.9GB]
Iv been trying to get that one for awhile but is not working

Just be careful, flashing too many rom and too often may lead to bad blocks on your phone. Have fun and good luck.

Hey. Actually if you want stable and fully working and also customized rom its definatly the CoreDroid, but look only for froyo rom couse GB have graphic glithes and camcorder lag, hope devs will fix it soon! This rom is the very fast and fully customized! Im using ext4 1Gb partition and its very smooth. Try it)

I just got mines yesterday and I cant really recommend one as its your personal choice. I tried a few of the "tablet" ones and I think I'm going back to stock later or a kang, if I can modify my nav buttons/colors etc.

There's no such thing as "the best ROM". Everybody wants something different. Take your time and try things out. You'll soon find out what matters to you. It took me about 6 months of playing around with lots of different ROMs to finally settled on what works best for me.

BAMF paradigm is a really nice combination of custom settings options (like customizable nav buttons, ability to make them any color, built in battery skin chooser, theme chooser, and more) and stability and in my opinion just makes a really nice well rounded daily driver.

Hey, I think that the standard rom that the phone is born with is cool enough )
Haven't felt the "no-need to root my phone" feeling before... it's weird, but I honestly feel that it's good enoug , the way it is...
Bobo
The stock rom is pretty much perfect on all levels, on all my previous android phones I felt the desprate need to instantly change into a customized ROM, but on the note I feel that if i ever do install a costume rom it will be worse not better
Everyone has their own definition of cool. Me, I can't stand most of the color ans font themes I see packaged. You're going to have to know what you're wanting for specific advice, or try and try til you find what you love. So far this is the first rom I've had no want to swap out, and I'm running stock.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

The Note 2 is my first device where i don't have the need of a Custom ROM. Stock is a very perfect ROM. I use Android Devices since the HTC Magic.
All depends your own preferences, so make your choice and see if it makes you happy.

I have to agree that many of the roms have themes that aren't to my taste. However as im a flashaholic ive resorted to android revolution,
It's pretty rare on xda to get this many replies favouring stock!
I simply can't find a good reason to flash when everything works perfectly on stock after a little debloating. Perhaps the l only thing I don't like is the touchwiz notification drawer and the toggles. But I'm getting used to it.

For customization it's pretty cool ParanoidAndroid Rom, i use it and i find it awesome, if u don't need customization Stock Samsung + Root it's the Best.

BETA Testing now complete....
ROM will be available in the Development section soon.

Hi all,
I am the developer of SentinelROM, which is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and HTC One X.
SentinelROM is compiled by me with modified CyanogenMod 10.1 code (additional tweaks for performance and battery life, as well as some theming). So far the ROM has been very successful.
I've decided to release the ROM for Samsung Galaxy SIII (i9300) also, but I need your help as I don't own a SGSIII to test with.
I am reaching out to anyone who would be willing to flash my test ROM and test a few things for me.
If you're interested, please PM me either here, or via the SentinelROM facebook page. I will reply with a download link and instructions.
I only need a few people for testing, so please don't be offended if I don't get back to you with a download link.
This ROM is for i9300 only at this stage, so please do not reply if you own an i9305 as the ROM will not work on your device.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You know I want to, but as you said on FB, probably not a good idea to do it on my wife's everyday phone
Everyone, this guy turns out a great ROM. I have Sentinel ROM on my Nexus 4 and it's very, VERY nice. I highly recommend it.
Thanks for the plug mate.
OP updated with a download link so you can get up and running right away.
Looking forward to some feedback so I can launch this ROM
Well i am installing this now will let you know how it goes..
Thanks heaps!
how did you go?
I wish I cud try it too. Any chance for us I9305 users to get this? Maybe later when it gets a good rep on i9300? I know you asked us users to not to reply but I cudnt resist asking

Well everything is working as normal. I played about with the rom it is pretty stable. Everything works, and when i fell asleep unlike cm the battery never drained maybe about 3 percent drain overnight which is great. So the battery life on this rom is excellent. You're good to go with your rom. Sorry for the late reply i installed this around midnight. Used the rom and till about 2am and fell asleep. I am still using it. I must say overall it is a great rom. Thank you very much. I've not yet found a fault but maybe i might find one but that would be cm related.
For a beta rom this is really stable. Onlything maybe it isn't a big problem now but in the ota updater lol it doesn't recognize the device as MO.
Beautiful!!!
I'll credit you in the OP. Thankyou very much!

sentinel rom v 4.5 for gt-i9300
Hello, Sentinel.
First of all I'd like to thank you for this truly amazing rom, there's so many things I can do with my phone and change almost everything I want to within it. I only found 1 issue which may not be an issue at all, I might still be a bit inexperienced with all this modding stuff, but I haven't found a way to overclock or undervolt my phone using your kernel, but I took a risk of using siyah kernel 1.9.1 which is said not to be compatible with 4.2.2 JB and basically all new roms that are out now, but the funny thing is IT DOES WORK! And I think that siyah 1.9.1 kernel and your custom sentinel rom is the best combo ever for my galaxy s3. The battery works great even when I overclock it, it's really stable and never glitching. I can say I'm a heavy consumer, wifi constantly on, and I'm playing psone games with and emulator alot and it still does a pretty decent job. On my next payday I'm definitely donating, buddy. And in a months time when s3 stock 4.2.2 JB will come out, I'd like to see what you can do with that one aswell.
Keep up the great work, best regards, Lietus.

Hi Lietus. I assume you posted this here because you can't post in the ROM thread, so I'll answer you here
My official position on over/underclocking and UV/OV is discussed on my website. Have a browse.
Sorry but it's not something I support in my ROMs. People are alwsys welcome to use other Kernels to unlock these features if they want them.
Looking forward to payday
Hey, this is my first post, you did a really good job with this rom!
Is there any way to disable the fullscreen keyboard feature?
I understand where you're coming from and I totally agree with you if we users want we can make it ourselves using different kernels especially when your ROM is that great and it accepts different types of kernels. And I've got 5 different types of android machines which could use some improvement so if you're interested and have the time to expand your ROMs through those it would be just awesome. Because your ROM is actually the first custom one I've tried, and after a lot of research I can't seem to trust myself with someone else's
