I just found out about it, the dev community seems very small and even the users are few, how come? The phone seems great, specs and price are great especially for Europe where phones generally cost a lot more than in the US.
because it's fresh mint brand, there is still no image
because it's using so little adv budget , and marketing technique not great
and in my country, it also have a goverment pass problem while still in preorder time (it is using fake authorisation id from other phone, and get spread all over the country by media)

Bad marketing, not much hype around this phone if u compare to 1+1 when they launch

It uses the generic google USB driver.
For an adb connection though you have to download the USB 3 compatible version of adb from my Androidfilehost hardware folder.

They do provide it but only on the Chinese developer website...
I got no idea why the international branch doesn't provide any information or tools, but that is why I mirrored the tools.

Roebeet at slatedroid has a step by step for using the Xoom usb port for host mode: http://www.slatedroid.com/index.php...le-usb-host-mode-ie-thumb-drives-on-the-xoom/
and it is on days like today that I love my Xoom that much more. By the time the devs are done designing things for this tablet, it is going to be a whole new experience. I feel sorry for people that returned theirs after not even giving it real time to grow.
so this enables host mode, but can you switch back and forth between host and client?
I guess his new boot.img that enables the USB host will be a moot point with regard to the new update coming from Moto tonight. This sucks.

Regardless of the update, we will still be able to run this great mod. There has been little work done on the kernel as seen on aosp. so all the kernels floating around will still work just fine. In fact, the only kernel work committed from upstream has primarily been bcm4329 work for the wifi only models.
Will this allow me to plug in my external hard drive?

Yes, if your drive is AC powered. And u get the cable. I will release this in my next kernel release with due credits given in my OP.
how hard would it be
To have the OC and USB host lines in the boot/root img?
I would love to have this and OC at the same time!

how about portable external HD's that draw power through the usb cable. theese will also be supported too, correct?
The actual change is very minor from stock - a few extra lines in the init.rc and then the /etc/vold.fstab change.

Going on my GTAB experience, it should work. But, there might be a size restriction -- 128GB, I believe (?) and of course FAT32. Again, going on memory here from the GTAB forums.
My external HDD's are all EXT3/4 so I usually don't test them against an OTG cable.

Yeah I think this might be needed, since it seems that the boot.img for USB host conflicts with the boot.img for OC, rendering your tablet wifi-less. Hope we can get a workaround for this

Most of the vendors, unfortunately, because they can't hammer out a long-term solution they all can agree on. FAT32 is still used on flash-based devices because of this problem. And it is a problem.
MS, in its infinite wisdom, created exFAT to replace FAT32. But of course its proprietary and has to be licensed. Why couldn't they just open source it and allow it to used for free? That would be too easy, so they can't do that. NTFS is also proprietary, so getting OS's like Android and iOS requires reverse engineering. And HFS+ is, again, proprietary.
What would be best for consumers is that all the major vendors agree on an open-source standard (like EXT4?), and create drivers for their various OS's to support that standard. Then, we could migrate all new devices to that new standard and be done with this problem. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
(gets off soapbox)
Non zoom owner here, potiential in the future. I guess this mean flash drives not camera and phone etc or is it all the same? Wont different drivers b required?

Sold out and all the other ones on ebay will take weeks to arrive.
Anyone find a US site that we can buy one of these cables on?
Did anyone have the problem with WiFi breaking after flashing the boot.img? The only way I could get WiFi back was to boot a previous image.

Would someone please tell me what is supposed to be included in the Elocity 7 box when purchased?
Is it supposed to include a USB to USB cable? If not, how is it supposed to be connected to our computer (if necessary)?
I saw the following and wonder if if is correct (it doesn't mention a USB cable):
What is in the box:
eLocity™ 7-Inch Internet, Tablet with 4GB internal memory, rechargeable lithium polymer battery, user manual and safety guide, warranty card and AC adaptor with power cord.
Thank you.
Bobby
That's all folks!!!
Yup, that was all that was in the box. I actually had a screen protector in my box, but it got ruined when I tried to remove the tape from it. It was taped to the A7 to hold it.
I bought 5 bluetooth dongles from eBay - only 2 bucks each - and plugged them into my computers. I can easily transfer files now between all computers and the A7 - and my phones now - and each other.
Really there was nothing else in there.
I did buy a case....the USAGear neoprene black one. Bought it on Amazon. On sale now for about 13 bucks. Fits almost perfect. It could be just a touch longer, but looks good.
Make sure you do the upgrade to latest firmware from website, then Dexters mod 1.41 - makes it a great machine!

What firmware update are you referring to?
I already have PBJ8000.2.0.0133.
(I'm personally not too 'fond' of the updates because they keep replacing apps I previous removed. And I understand every future update will do the same.)
The A7 need a dedicated dev to work on it, thanks Dexter but your legion is to motorola, was using Dexter mod but went back to the stock rom, have less issue with stock than with Dexter mod..don't have to reinsert SD or USB and It show the correct SD card size ..
Firmware update
I believe the latest firmware update is 2.2
It was out in February - i think the 24th, but not sure.
Anyway, i did install the latest firmware, then in order to get the Market place app, I "upgraded" to Dexters mod 1.41 so I could install almost any app from marketplace.

i never seen sdcard (external) reported in stock rom reported correctly or even found? i know it mounts it at /storage/sdcard-disk0 but thats it, for previous releases.. can you tell me how you see it better or do you actually mean internal storage, because "correct sdcard size" is fine here too?
btw(little OT),
for those using stock and want all the new gameloft HD games running, you cannot use stock, as /storage is not supported, it reports "no free space".
if you want to use the usb cable, you still need to be able to switch between host/device, which is not working in our firmware...
you can manually switch but the OS do not acknowledge it correctly.

the only items in the box now are tablet with battery, power cord screen protector
and the paper work.

checked it already and its not complete, for compile.. and no details on how to actually making it compile..
tried to copy it on top of 2.6.36.3 but some scripts were missing, so its nice, but not really useful.
anyways A7 has different hardware, and is similar to the Harmony board (called naz10) where Asus the much newer Whistler board for their kit, which has more video mem and some other functions on the board we dont have here..
similar but not quite the same when you get technical.

Alicez, you are right about the firmware. I was mistaken on that one. Looks like you have the latest.
By now you are probably trying to find a case to put it in? I found a great one that just barely fits at amazon.com. It is made by USAgear - neoprene black.
If You go to accessory link on official Galaxy S II website under "USB CONNECTOR" it says "MR version only". It may be one of things that Samsung recently do. I mean advertising something and not letting it out to all like NFC!!
I really like having a USB connector on my device to connect flash rams and card readers but it seems that only MR versions will have it. What is this MR version????

I never said it was
there is simply more info at that thread regarding the change log and user's inputs.
you could think of it as a collaboration... why does it have to be taken/view as a negative ?
I'm still baffled when it comes to Acer's updates.... such a mess... can't tell what's head or tails anymore...
I'm in Canada... originally I was OTA updated to Acer_A500_1.139.05_COM_GEN1 after I bought the tablet for a week. ( I'm assuming Canada is along with USA as North America region )
and yet... here, in this thread it said those in option A are supposed to be for (UK/France/Italy/Spain) ??
and USA are in option B ??
and now today... there are new reports out that reads like this for USA....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175139
freaking Acer... how the heck does anyone keep on track anymore ??
I think they started out as a mess and it snowballed from there and they couldn't get it together (organized )... I don't think the day will comes when we just have 3 updates that covered the whole World like the PDF indicated... ( Option A, B, C )... yeah right... what a joke !
I don't even bother with it... there's always latest available posted at our XDA anyway... Acer can't be rely on
<rants over>
I would just be happy knowing whether the 4.010.08_COM_GEN2 is newer or older than the update I received today, 4.010.38_COM_GEN1. I can understand the higher numbers being newer, but what about the GEN1/GEN2 stuff? For the record, I'm in the U.S.

Other have found you to be a flamer too! Just so you know before you feel too confident.
I received an onlive microconsole free from PAX solely for the reason of hacking (as did about 5000 others). My primary goal is to be able to put Google TV on it as it has very similar specs to some existing set top boxes. (Nixeus fusion xs, which also has sources available)
The source code for the consoles OS can be found here
http://opensource.onlive.com/
I poked around inside the zips and certainly contains all the drivers for generic linux. The interesting thing is they included the SoCs build folder giving instructions for android.
The kicker is, I have no idea how to build an OS from source and modify it nor do I know about getting it on to the machine. I took it apart and it has a block of 12 pins, which I presume are for nand reading and writing. I've glitched /jtagged a few 360s so I am familiar with the process of nand modifications, I just have no clue how to find out which pins to use on this board. The microconsole is keyboard and mouse compatible but I have not found a way to enter a terminal or bootloader.
The easiest thing to do is look for serial ports because with a serial connection you can most of the flash fw and stuff...
would help if you'd post some specs and pics

Has any more progress been made on this? I loved the OL service in it's prime and it'd be a shame to throw the microconsole away if there's any legitimate use for it.
