[RECOVERY] TWRP Touch Recovery for BLU Studio G - Blu Studio 5

Made with MTK-TWRP tool by Teamwin developer Dees_Troy. I would normally give all credits to developers here but it is absurdly hard to find info on Teamwin (PLEASETeamwin devs feel free to contact me with the info you want posted.)
WARNING!!! You could brick your phone. I am not responsible if you brick it, chuck it at someone, or fling it off your balcony in frustration. That's on you!!!
What you need:
1. A rooted BLU Studio G (NO OTHER DEVICE WILL WORK!!!)
2. [ROOT] Rashr Flash-Tool installed on your phone. (get here on xda or the Play Store.)
3. A file archive utility on your PC (Windows, Linux, Apple).
Got all that? Let's get started.
STEP ONE - Install Rashr on your phone.
STEP TWO - Extract recovery.img from attached zipfile.
STEP THREE - Move recovery.img to root of your sdcard.
STEP FOUR - Open Rashr on your phone, select Recovery from Storage, navigate to recovery.img, and flash.
STEP FIVE - When Rashr is done power off your phone, boot into recovery (Press Power + Volume Up until white splash screen then release).
If it boots into TWRP your done, if not you missed or messed a step, so start over.

can i use this for studio g plus? thx in advance @rachelrgr

is this the way to install marshamallow 6.0 on blu studio 37??? im confused.

Going to try and port twrp for my studio g plus, s510q, with this mtk tool, my wife has it at work now, will attempt tonight, i cant hang with kingroot. So it's settled then, I'll port twrp, someone else can port cm. Let's make this phone happen. Also unlock bootloader, oem unlock in developer settings, then fastboot oem unlock
Update: returned the phone, this is overall a poor device designed for kids to break.
Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

Should it work for my Studio G "HD"?
UPDATE: Did not work (loop) jeje... luckily i have the original recovery.

This TWRP worked flawlessly for me, even after installing the Cyanogenmod Rom made my Nobreak1970, which gave me many problems (because noob) which i fixed with this TWRP by 'fixing permissions'.
This mod has saved my phone from bricking, and now i have LL 5.1.1 working too!
Thanks to all that made these apps!
VC

Well, It looks like this may not be for the D790Q version. I just get a gray screen on boot.

Hey tatoo, can you post what you did to make the twrp image for the blu studio G?, cuz I would like to make one for G HD.
Thanks in advance

Finally after bricking one phone, I successfully built twrp for blu studio G HD, but since xda won't allow me posting it in this section of development cuz spam issues, i won't upload it.

[Q] Huge Problem!!! Please help...

Hello everyone!!! I have a huge problem and i need help... I own a Nexus 4 and about 3-4 days ago I unlocked/rooted/intalled custom recovery using the nexus 4 toolkit... Everything was going well until today that I decided to flash the "touch" version of Clockworkmod Recovery but in the wrong way (as it prooved). So I downloaded the latest image file and decided to install it through the toolkit. I put the .img file in the "recovery folder of the toolkit (C:\Google Nexus 4 ToolKit\recovery) but the program didn't see it so i tried to put it here (C:\Google Nexus 4 ToolKit\put_img_files_to_flash_here) and make the toolkit steps for "Boot or flash .img files to device". I pluggeg my phone and followed these excact steps:
1. Boot or flash .img files to device
2.Wrote the excact name of the img.file as the toolkit asked me (the file was found by the toolkit
3.Asked me if i want to 1.boot or 2.flash. I selected 2.flash
4.Asked to which partition i wanted to flash the file and i selected 5.Recovery
After these steps and after the installation was succesfull i selected "recovery mode" from fastboot menu to see if it was installed and I'm stuck there with a black screen and the backlight on!
I'm really begging you don't try to make me feel worst by telling me what I should have done to do things right... Just try to help me in some way (If there is any) so i can make things right!!!
Thank you very much!

Install adb (platform-tools) and flash the recovery again in fastboot. Command: fastboot flash recovery namerecovery.img. To get into fastboot mode turn the phone off, then press volume down and power button.
Flash the recovery via fastboot.
If you don't have the required drivers/software on your cpu, install it. This is the best, easiest way to do it and it can save your ass in any number of ways to have the right stuff.
Pffff...
I actually did something and solve my "problem"...
I pushed & Hold the power button and the phone actually shut down...
So I turned it on again and installed clockworkmod from rom manager... :silly:
It seems that i was just too scared to do anything...
Anyway...Was that something that accidently happen or I used the wrong way to flash the recovery?
Thanks for the response & help! :good:

Not sure; I don't know the steps the toolkit takes. Might have been as simple as it not erasing cache after flashing the img.
Regardless, I highly recommend you install the Android SDK.

[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader without wiping data after CM11s 30O

This is what I have done this afternoon.
Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any data losing.
Environment: Oneplus One with stock CM11s XNPH30O
Steps:
1. Apply cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed.zip from stock recovery.
2. DO NOT BOOT TO OS when update is finished. After updated, press power button until screen off.
3. Boot to fastboot mode by holding 'Power' button & 'Vol UP(+)'.
4. In fastboot mode, boot to custom recovery by
Code:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/bacon
5. Make a nandroid backup for data partition. (Optional)
6. Sideload OnePlusOne-BootUnlocker.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54251992&postcount=1
7. Reboot to bootloader(fastboot mode)
8. Extract cm-11.0-XNPH30O-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip and execute 'flash-radio.sh' to update radio and other binaries.
9. Flash 30O system partition only by
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
(Don't flash userdata.img or userdata_64G.img or you'll lose all your data.)
10. Reboot. The Bootloader is unlocked.
Sorry for my bad english.
Sick man, gonna try this when i get home
I am running on 33R will this work ???
Or connect to PC.. Adb backup, root, then adb restore
Cool write-up! I re-wrote the guide for use over on the OnePlus forums: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ck-the-bootloader-without-losing-data.103642/

How would this be done by steps? I'm somewhat familiar with adb {I have the SDK installed and use it for fastboot) but coming from rooting and modding mostly Samsung devices I don't have experience with this method. Could you elaborate in another thread plz? Just the back up and restore part. I can manage the unlock and root.

i used the steps posted here. although they needed adapting for the one.
the bones of it is there though, so if you understand it, its easy to do.
Kind of went a different route but used this as a base and got it done. It was tricky but I'm unlocked, rooted, stock recovery and got most of my data back! Thanks for heads up philicibine and OP.

Yes. I was on 33R. Went to stock recovery and flashed 25R. Booted to fastboot and remotely ran twrp recovery and did a backup (in case) then flashed Bootloader unlock zip. While still in recovery, flashed 33R zip and SuperSU. I didn't extract any fastboot files, just used the flashable stock signed zip. All said and done, I had unlocked bootloader and root and back on 33R.
Now I was able to use Flashify app if I wanted a permanent custom recovery.

Hello ,
I am on 33 R and downloading the flash-able zip from the thread you gave. The rest of items i have already downloaded (Please see attachment). Request you to please confirm that once my 33R download is complete am i ready to proceed??? (I also have the Complete SDK Package with me)
Also can you please list me the procedure step by step. This is my very first time doing it this way as i am used to rooting my S2 and that is a totally different method using ODIN.
Hope to receive your positive reply.
Ok. Done. It worked flawlessly on 33R. Followed all the steps as mentioned by @ralphwiggum1 (Thanks a lot mate . Also Thanks to @ifg for making the basic post to be followed. See attached Rootchecker image for proof.
Please note that this procedure worked for me on a totally unrooted & never before tried rooting device with 33R. Also my device info showed Tampered bit as True & unlock bit as False. You can check it by following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-reset-unlock-tamper-bit-t2820912. Thanks to @Mnt-XDA.

Good job!
"As every guide is written with a Foreword so is this. Please try at your own risk. I am not responsible."
Next this is neither my guide nor my work. I went through all the threads as mentioned in the various links given below. All I did was follow procedure from whichever thread / post was related with my condition. Once I even got confused with too much information but then again as they if we don’t try we never know whether we would have failed or succeeded. 
So I was able to do this only due the works of other people. All the credit & Thanks goes to them. I have tried and remembered and mentioned all the names. In case I have missed anyone please forgive me and point me the name and I will thank them too.
My Step by step procedure to root the device without wipe for devices who have never tried rooting their Oneplus One and are currently on 33R using the method mentioned in this thread,
Download the Recovery flashable zips of the complete ROMz - XNPH25R, XNPH33R
Follow the ADB & Fastboot Installation Procedure listed HERE(Also if you can then do read the complete post as it is very informative for Noobs like me )
Download the Oneplusone-bootunlocker.zip from HERE (Again if possible please read this complete thread too as it is also very informative)
Download the Supersu file from HERE
Download the custom recovery file from HERE
Copy both the Flashable zips, Bootunlocker, supersu files to your device
Switch off your device. And Then boot into STOCK RECOVERY by pressing the VOL DOWN & POWER key
Apply update – XNPH25R and then keep the power key pressed until the screen turns off. DO NOT REBOOT
Now boot to fastboot mode by holding the POWER button & VOL UP Key. Connect it to the PC and let it install all the drivers
Go to the SDK Installation in your PC, and within that go to the folder PLATFORM-TOOLS. Copy the “openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-bacon.img” or latest file which you must have downloaded from the TWRP site
Within the directory Press the Shift Key and right click and you will get an option “Open command Prompt here” – Do it. Type in the command
Code:
Fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-bacon.img
. Wait for 30 Seconds your device will enter into TWRP Custom recovery
Make a Nandroid backup (Optional)
Go to the install option within the recovery and select the Bootunlocker.zip. make sure the signature verification check box in unchecked. Apply the zip.
Now once again go into install option and select the XNPH33R zip and apply
I rebooted the device after Step 14 as I forgot to apply the supersu
Once again followed the same procedure to enter fastboot mode (Step 9) and loaded the custom recovery as mentioned in Step 11 and then applied the supersu zip as mentioned in Step 13. Again rebooted and device was successfully rooted with SuperSU
Next I wanted to flash Franco’s latest Kernel (franco.Kernel-nightly-r20.zip). Downloaded from HERE
Again put device in Fastboot mode (Step 9) and loaded Custom recovery (Step 11) and installed zip file using same procedure as Step 13
Wiped Cache & Dalvik Cache & Rebooted the device. No Issues. Franco Kernel was installed
Credits - I would like to thank everyone for helping me out. Full Thanks & Credits to @ifg (Guide for XNPH300), @Mnt-XDA (Bootunlocker.zip & a great thread about Reset Unlocker & Tamper Bit), @MICa.fighter (CM11S official & untouched image collection), @franciscofranco (Kernel for Oneplus One), Chromium (From Oneplus One Forum for a great guide on Everything Rooting for Oneplus One), @Chainfire (SuperSU), @ralphwiggum1 (for already trying it and clearing my doubts and giving me confidence to proceed)
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Yeah, I really wish I found this post before I wiped my OPO, and lost another day reinstalling and configuring apps.

Finally, a TWRP custom recovery for ZE500CL! Found on pda4.ru, ported by users named Skyrimus and CHuvaCK21. Thank you guys, if you ever see this thread
Original link: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=658859&st=3920#entry46023904
Thanks to @RusLion__ for finding it!
I packaged everything into a zip file so it's flashing would be noob-friendly. You can get the it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/k3d0hm34issmkz6/Flash_TWRP_Asus_Zenfone_2_Z00D.zip
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for bricking your phone. Follow these instructions at your own risk.
Edit: For anyone using ZenFone 2E (AT&T) model, you can try unlocking your bootloader using the method in this post (thanks, @saltii): http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/zenfone-2e-root-rom-t3174135/post64716579#post64716579
If it works, your splash screen will change as described in the instructions below.
Instructions:
1. Install drivers for your phone and ADB/fastboot (this might work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118)
2. Download and extract the zip from the link above
3. Unlock the bootloader using the official ASUS Unlock Tool: https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE500CL/HelpDesk/ - you can find it in Driver & Tools > OS: Android > Utilities
If you unlocked it successfully, your splash screen will turn from black to white, like this: https://cdn-images.xda-developers.com/direct/3/4/6/3/6/0/0/zenfone_2_splash_screens.jpg
4. Turn off your phone and connect it to your PC via USB
5. Boot into bootloader (press and hold power+volume up buttons until the phone vibrates, and then release ONLY the power button while still holding the volume up button until you see the fastboot screen)
6. Go into the previously extracted folder and run the "FlashTWRP.bat" file
7. Then press volume down 2 times until "Reboot recovery" shows up and press power 1 time to boot into recovery
It works thanks

Thanks to @RusLion__ for finding it!
I packaged everything into a zip file so it's flashing would be noob-friendly. You can get the it from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/k3d0hm34issmkz6/Flash_TWRP_Asus_Zenfone_2_Z00D.zip
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for bricking your phone. Follow these instructions at your own risk.
Important note: For anyone using ZenFone 2E (AT&T) model, there is currently no method of successfully unlocking your bootloader. I highly recommend NOT attempting to flash this recovery until a viable method is found.

Root lg k8 k350xx and k10 k430xx (MTK)

This thread is out of date since there is my new thread with an easier method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/friendly-root-method-lg-k8-k10-t3531223
However i keep this one for troubleshooting and deeper understanding...
This description was originally made for the k8, however it seems to work on k10 k430 devices
LG K8:
OS Android v6.0 (Marshmallow)
Chipset Mediatek MT6735
CPU Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53
GPU Mali-T720
1.5GB of RAM
8GB ROM
LG K10 K430...:
quite similar to k8
Rooting the k8 (and the k10) is rather difficult since it's using "lz4" compression for the partition images not the usual "gzip" method.
Systemless supersu is still unable to patch lz4 boot images so we need to have a little trick. Not to mention porting a working TWRP is also a pian in the ass...
Before posting any questions/errors please read the troubleshooting guide and also read back in the thread!
Steps:
0.
Remove the back panel of the phone because you'll have to be able to reach your sd card, watch out for your battery - must not fall out!
If your TWRP supports mtp connection under "mount" you can skip this part and you don't have to put your sd card in and out - maybe you have to fix the driver in windows!
1.
Unlock your bootloader (all your data will be lost!!!) via ADB then boot up normally
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/unlock-bootloader-lg-k10-mtk-devices-t3486302
if there is no warnning message during boot up after unlocking your bootloader read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/rid-shutting-device-corrupt-message-t3517879
2.
Boot to TWRP (you have to stay in TWRP during the whole process!!!) via ADB and fastboot
3.
Mount sd card
Backup your boot image (find boot.emmc.win in TWRP folder on your sdcard - rename it on PC to bootlz4_0.img)
or use your boot image taken from your kdz as it is written in the end of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/rid-shutting-device-corrupt-message-t3517879
4. Tweak bootlz4_0.img with Carliv Image Kitchen (Carliv download: http://viid.me/qe7BDp)
-Unpack it, open "boot.img-ramdisk-compress" file with a text editor (notepad++) and change the first (and only) line from "lz4" to "gz"
-Repack image - rename the repacked image to bootgz_0
5. Flash bootgz_0.img in TWRP
6. Install SuperSU (and xposed if you wish or you can istall xposed later) - do not quit TWRP from now until last step - that would brick your device
7. Backup boot image again - you need to remove sd card (unmount first) and put it in PC - it means you have to remove the usb cable from the phone and remove back panel - maybe before getting into TWRP!
- or enable mtp in TWRP and copy/paste the boot image from sd card.
8. Tweak boot image in Carliv
-Unpack it, open "boot.img-ramdisk-compress" file and change the first line from "gz" to "lz4"
-Repack image
9. Flash boot image in TWRP
10. Restart (this will take a bit longer and also expect bootloop a few times)
you can find a rather detailed description here:
http://viid.me/qe7Zoh - don't forget that you can use mtp connection instead of taking in and out the sd card if your TWRP supports it.
If you prefer using adb/fastboot commands instead removing your sdcard all the time you can use salaigeethan666's guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69415205&postcount=34
but some reported problems with flashing the boot image and getting back to TWRP this way.
If you have problems booting up after installing supersu maybe you can force boot described by cpatrick3000:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/root-lg-k10-mtk-chipset-95-method-t3498166
or the problem might be:

If you ever lose root and try again consider Darkos333's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69713043&postcount=99
or use lg up to get back to full stock:

TWRP of the k8:

As for the k10 TWRP 3.0.0 you should use http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/development/teamwinrecoveryproject-3-0-0-0-lg-k10-t3404434 by berkantkz.
or TWRP 3.0.2 by Singular777: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69381986&postcount=126
In case of k10 430dsy try 123xdagsm's recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69706581&postcount=154
Please, before you proceed read and practice the methods of each steps! A few hours of preparation (google + xda + tests) might save your device getting hard bricket and it's also better for you to know what you're doing! Look for fastboot commands, systemless supersu, TWRP usage, Carliv image kitchen, ... (google + xda)! You better not leave TWRP during the whole process! Keep in mind that after the supersu is installed you must be able to recompress your boot image to "lz4" otherwise you get soft bricked and you need to use lg up to refirbish...!!!
Read each steps twice and follow them stricktly!
Also keep in mind that if you want to uninstall supersu/remove root you have to reflash stock firmware with lg bridge + hard reset or lg up.
Troubleshooting
"your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly"
- this message is normal when you have an opened bootloader
- phone shuts down right after this message: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/rid-shutting-device-corrupt-message-t3517879
no ADB connection (command: "adb devices" - your device is not in the output list):
- turn-on USB Debugging (settings - developer opions)
- install drivers
no fastboot connection (command: "fastboot devices" - your device is not in the output list):
- install drivers
- check device manager
- you may try to install android SDK if the connection is not working
unable to unlock bootloader (command "fastboot oem unlock"):
- allow oem unlock (settings - developer opions)
device is not booting into TWRP:
- unlock bootloader
- the TWRP is not compatible with your device (there is a list of TWRPs for different devices, if you cant find yours you can try the next guide: http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...752-MT6753-MT6795-MT6797-TWRP-MT67xx-tutorial)
unable to unpack boot image in carliv
- your TWRP is not compatible with your device (at least it didn't backup your boot image properly)
unable to repack boot image in carliv
- check the unpacked boot image "ramdisk" folder, if there are all the necessary files and folders, find a list attached at posts #107 and #124: (doesn't have to be the exact same since k8 and k10 migth differ - there is no "boot" folder in case of the k8 and also before installing supersu the su folders are not to be there - normally 5+ folders and 20+ files)
- see if "boot.img-ramdisk-compress" file exists
- maybe you messed up something in carliv
supersu failed to patch the ramdisk (even if it sais installed succesfully)
- you can try just unpack and repack your stock boot image install/flash it and see if it boots up - so you can be sure you are a "master" of carliv and TWRP
- your boot image is not gzip compressed - open "boot.img-ramdisk-compress" as text. It should only have one line: "gz"
supersu failed to install
- you can try just unpack and repack your stock boot image install/flash it and see if it boots up - so you can be sure you are a "master" of carliv and TWRP
- your TWRP is not compatible with your device (or you need a newer version)
device is not booting up after the final step (boot loops for more then 2 minutes)
- use Berkantkz guide to flash back the original firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/guide-unbricking-flashing-firmware-due-t3380529
- after getting back to stock you can try just unpack and repack your stock boot image install/flash it and see if it boots up - so you can be sure you are a "master" of carliv and TWRP
- duble check your final boot image (uncompress and compare files and folders to the one attached in posts #107 and #124 - has to be reasonably/more or less the same)
- consider step 6 in Darkos333 guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69713043&postcount=99
- also consider cpatrick3000's force boot guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/root-lg-k10-mtk-chipset-95-method-t3498166
if none of these helps make a recovery log (in TWRP under advanced menu) before final restart and post it or send it to me
This method works for the LG K10 k430Y as well. Thanks very much brah, so far I have changed a couple of thing in the build.prop like activating the multi window setting and so far it is functioning properly besides the annoying 'device is corrupt' message everything seems to be fine thanks a lot bro :good: :good:

Can i ask whitch TWRP you used? Did you maybe tried it with the one i ported for the k8 or is this the one by berkantkz?
I used the twrp made by berkantkz, do you think it would be safe if I flashed it on my k10.

Actually the recovery partitions size is approx. 16Mb. Berkantkz's TWRP is almost 17Mb so there is little chance you can flash it. There is no problem if you try it would give you an error message if the size is too big and nothing's gonna change. I recompressed berkantkz's TWRP to gzip (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwyMOazoSp8TdnhBbWpobEk0V0E) so it is smaller, you can try to flash that but you have to try it before. I mean just boot into it (fastboot boot ...) don't flash it first.
Keep me updated please!
About the multiwindow, did you use "ro.build.type" -> userdebug or "persist.splitwindow.support_all" -> true ?
I flashed back to stock with lg bridge and also did factory format with hard buttons. There is no way to root again and boot up succesfully. Somehow lg bridge and also factory format leaves some partions untouched that still have something from supersu. So i erased all partitions in fastboot...
I shouldn't have cause now my phone can't connect at all. Not even in download mode.
I suggest if anyone tried any method to root unsuccesfully that should not try this method. It will not boot up...:S
Thats all for now. I'll try to exchange my phone and then start again...
I can't make lg up to work with the k8. There is no lgup...dll.msi to install. Any ideas?
Maybe the boot image is not turned back to stock not by factory format nor by lg bridge... this migth cause the mess with Supersu install after turnig back to stock... With lg up we could reflash the full stock system and try rooting again...
If anyone plans to root save your stock boot image first, might come handy later...

439? Are you sure? I guess it must be 430... however i belive the only method is the above described one. If you ever attempted rooting the device i suggest not to do that unless you can flash it back to fully stock.
Theese might help for unsuccesful root attempts... i wish i found this before erasing all my partitions...:S

I'm afraid until SuperSU is not "lz4" compatible there is no easier method. I't not so difficult anyways as long as you can make a fastboot connection. There is always download mode and lg bridge if anything goes wrong...
PS. if you ever attempted to root this device before then most likely it's not gonna work... unless you can make LgUP see your k430 and reflash the whole firmware.

The principle of obtaining root.
Install SuperSU via TWPR.
We have the boot ramdisk
compression in lz4,it is not
supported so first comes the
installation boot with
compression gz,then install SuperSU,
and boot back lz4

[GUIDE] LG G Pad 8.3 [v500] Unlock, Root, Flash Official TWRP & Official Lineage OS

[GUIDE] LG G Pad 8.3 [v500] Unlock, Root, Flash Official TWRP & Official Lineage OS
I'm mainly writing this as a step by step reference for myself, but thought others may find this useful as there are some confusing older posts here. A massive thank-you to fefifofum for all his hard work, and he should feel free to correct me if I made a mistake here somewhere. The pad I used this method for was running Android 4.4 KitKat before beginning, so I did not need to downgrade the bootloader as described in this fefifofum post.
1) Acquire an LG G Pad 8.3 V500, charge it to full before beginning, have a PC with a USB (Micro) cable to connect to your pad
2) If necessary, reset the pad to factory defaults with the following hard key combination:
Hold Power + Vol Down > Wait until LG Logo pops up and release from both buttons > quickly hold Power + Vol Up + Vol Down again
Hit Power 3 times to confirm reset
3) On your PC, download the following files to a folder:
-Latest TWRP App (the APK)
-Latest TWRP Recovery for the v500
-Stump Root
-Latest Official LineageOS build for the v500
4) Boot the pad
5) Connect the pad to your PC
6) On the pad select "MTP" to transfer files
7) On the pad go to Settings -> Security -> Allow Installation of Apps from Unknown Sources
8) Copy the 4 files downloaded to your PC to a temporary folder on the pad (you may use the "Download" folder for example)
9) Disconnect the pad from your PC
10) Go to Apps -> File Manager
11) Browse to "All Apps" Internal Storage -> [Folder you saved files to]
12) Select Stump, Install it, Open It
13) Listen to the groovy music as desired
14) Tell it to brute force, and wait until it asks you to reboot
15) Reboot
16) Browse using the File Manager again to the same folder
17) Select TWRP App (not the recovery image), install it, open it
18) In the TWRP App, check all the boxes including use root access
19) In the TWRP App, Go to flash recovery from file, and select the latest TWRP.img file you downloaded (not the APK)
20) Flash that sucker
21) Reboot to Recovery (I use ADB Reboot Recovery, you could also use the hard button method in step 2 above)
22) Marvel at the beauty of Team Win's legendary creation
23) Go to Wipe -> Factory Reset, wait for it to finish, then go back to main TWRP menu
24) Go to Install -> Browse to your file folder from above -> Select the LineageOS build (a .zip file) you downloaded above
25) Install that sucker
26) Optionally, after installation, you may go to Wipe -> Format Data -> yes to clean all the LG crap off your device (this will wipe your downloaded files too FYI)
27) Reboot into Lineage OS, the best Phone&Tablet OS in town
28) Do a little dance
Hope this is helpful to me later, and to others possibly.
UPDATE: Thanks; I answered my own question, to clarify for other noobs; you need to transfer the zip file in its entirety, and twrp will unzip it upon installing!
Hi, for total noobs, the lineage os file is a zip file, does the entire zip file get transferred? or do you un zip first? If so, exactly which file do you install in step 24?
Thanks in advance.
Update:
I got to step 24, I picked some sort of "img" file to update. I have now been staring at the static LG logo for 10 minutes. How long should I wait to figure out if I did something wrong?

You need to install the Lineage OS build at step 24 in TWRP - that will be the .zip file you should have downloaded here:
https://download.lineageos.org/v500
It should look something like:
"lineage-14.1-20180409-nightly-v500-signed.zip"
Hope that helps.
My V500 is on 4.4, totally stock, and has a 'dead' spot on touch in the center of the screen. Happened after the software upgrade to 4.4.
Will flashing Lineage OS fix this issue? It is a software issue, the hardware works properly when tested.

I'm not sure, but I know that flashing Lineage OS will give you way more current and updated software than the old 4.4 build by LG. It probably is worth trying, assuming you back up all your files etc.
By "dead spot" do you mean that the tablet does not register your touches in one area of the screen, or that there is a problem with the display?
Can the files be on the SD card instead of internal memory?

XXXXX - NVM, I went ahead and chose Grind, it then asked if I wanted to Brute Force. All is well. Thanks.... XXXXNeed a little help, please. Step 14 says to tell Stump to use Brute Force, but the app only has a button that says "GRIND". Is Grind the same as Brute Force and shouldn't the instructions mention Grind? Thanks in advance for the step by step instructions. NVM
Let's say I got as far as step 26 and then now every time I reboot (either to System or Recovery) it goes back to the TWRP boot menu. Any idea which step I screwed up?
One thing that I'm somewhat concerned with is that when I try to install lineage-14.1-20180422-nightly-v500-signed.zip or the 0429 file, the Zip signature verification fails for either. So I tried them both, disabling the zip signature verification, so it would complete.
Thanks for the write up, and sorry for what is likely a noob mistake.

There are various ways to do root and various ways to disable it and remove it.
You must write how you did root, because no one will want to answer your question clearly.
You have a long internship in this forum and you should know about XDA rules, especially 1 and 3.
Dear sarahlegs,
Thank you so much for this procedure... Easy, clear, efficient... It took only 30mn to me to proceed and to give a "second youth" to my lovely Lg Pad... !
Here are my (little) feedbacks for noobz, according to my experience :
Step 2 :
After power in your tab by pressing VOL DOWN + POWER, when the LG appears, yes, you'll have to press VOL DOWN + VOL UP + POWER (all together) until the Factory Hard Reset page appears (it's not usual to press VOL UP and DOWN in the same time).
Also you will only have to press POWER two times (not three as indicated in the procedure) to confirm the reset (just follow what is indicated on the screen).
Step 21 :
Boot exactly like step 2. You will be invited to proceed to "Factory Hard Reset" exactly like in step 2. Proceed by pressing 2x times the POWER button and AFTER that the new TRWP menu will appear (don't be afraid to perform the factory reset ! the TRWP only appears after this step... and you'll be able to go on with the procedure).
Also, I may introduce an optional "26.1" step :
If you reboot your tablet now, it will work perfectly, but as a noob you won't find any "Google Play" icon, which can be a little bit disapointing for you (or any "classic" Google tools, like Maps, Gmail, etc..).
Don't worry.
To install all (or some) standard Google applications like Google Play, you need to install the "OpenGapps" package. And you HAVE to install it NOW, before the first reboot (as indicated in the OpenGapps procedure : "If you reboot into LineageOS before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes.").
Procedure and download links are explained here.
For your LG GPad 8.3 (assuming that you installed the Lineage version indicated in this procedure), select "Lineage 14.1 (Android 7.1)" then on next page, download your package from "ARM" as "Platform" and "7.1" as "Android" (then it's up to you to choose, Nano, Pico, Full etc... I personnaly choosed the "Mini")
Once done, enjoy your renewed Gpad, and thanks again sarahlegs for the great job he did writing this step-by-step procedure (and all people who worked on this lineage realease for Gpad 8.3) !
I have a LG tablet. I really like it, until it started giving me trouble. It has Trouble sometimes restarting etc. It just buzzes instead of coming on. If I shut the screen off, it takes several tries Before it comes back on. Someone said it might need to be flashed again. Do you think it would help it? Please give me some advice. thanks
doesn´t work on mine. Stump says unsupported device.
I have lineage installed and that doesn´t work...

Thanks for the guide. My G pad 8.3 was already rooted with towelroot so i skipped the rooting step.
Once i've flashed LineageOS it just boots back into TWRP, even if i select reboot>system it still just boots into recovery. Anyone know where i'm going wrong or can help fix the issue?
EDIT: I've fixed the issue, i had to run a couple of commands from the terminal that i found in another thread.
Thanks

I'm currently typing and dancing.
This was actually a very nice explanation.
Usually these things are too technical and you have to do research for years, but I know have LineageOS on my GPad8.3 V500 and I'm happy, happy, happy!
Anyone know if this will work on a VK810 4G model?
Can I just say a big thanks to this post and other comments - my tablet has gone from being an old and increasingly unloved device running Android 4, to become a slick clean interfaced smooth running Nougat machine. It is so good I have just bought another V500 off eBay. The OS maintainer is doing a fantastic job ( I just hope Lineage 15 will be here soon )
I've got a stock V500 running Lollipop, that I force upgraded back in the day. I'm told I have to downgrade this back to Kitkat in order to start playing with ROMs, is that true? And if so, is there a guide to do so - the link in the OP doesn't work anymore. Any advice would be appreciated!
Mark
