[Q] Different device types?

Was looking at the unified rom section to see if it's worth to go ahead and root my phone as I've held off. Got really lost quickly with all these abbreviations. kltexx, kltelra, kltetmo, kltecan, klteatt, klteub, klte acg, kltedcm, klte. So many. I know mine is kltetmo as I have a TMO S5. Does that limit my rom choices to ONLY kltetmo or would i be able to flash a klte build? I know i wouldn't want to flash a klteatt and such but what about just klte?
thanks!
the same as that question. How can everyone help me?
How can i distinguish kltexx,kltelra,kltetmo,kltecan,klteatt,klteub,klte acg,kltedcm,klte?????
You can use klte ROMs on your T-mobile which is international LTE (900F) since both are GSM.
Can anyone help me with my model s5(SM-G900R7) are there any roms out that I can flash I'm kinda new to this

Install clean (non-carrier) rom on SGS5

Hello,
I want to install a clean (non-carrier) ROM on my girlfriend's SGS5 (SM-G900W8). This is a canadian Fido phone. The reason I want to install the clean ROM is that they removed some parts of the ROM to scam people. For example, they removed a Data Toggle from the Notification Panel. Also, I want this SGS5 to receive updates as soon as they are out, not when FIdo decides to update it.
So I searched on SamMobile and found that there are just other carriers firmwares and 2 uknowns.
So my questions are:
1. What should I do in order to get a clean SGS5 rom on SM-G900W8?
2. What are those unknowns?
3. Is the phone going to work properly on Fido if I install other / non-carrier firmware?
Sorry if these are some stupid question. I am a Nexus user and never had these issues before...
The W8 version will definitely work with any of the T-Mobile roms and most of the other roms. If you're looking for stock roms, all the canadian carrier firmwares are cross flashable, meaning you can flash the firmwares from Bell, Rogers, Telus, Wind, etc.

Thanks for a quick reply.
Would you recommend any specific firmware? Without any issues and with the least amount (or absence) of bloatware?
I recommend the pure note 5 rom available in the developement section. It's very fast, stable and awesome battery life (I get 5 hours of screen time). I suggest waiting a few days since V6.5 is coming out soon though.

Oh, I thought that It's only OK to install ROMs for SM-G900W8 only. Can you please explain what kind of ROMs I can install on her SGS5 (SM-G900W8)?
I checked the N5 Port - looks awesome. I think I will install that one.
You can install most roms that are developed for the snapdragon variant. I installed the rom on my T-mobile S5 (G900T) and it works flawlessly.

Confused About Available ROM's

Hello,
I just bought the S7 Edge last week. I live in Canada and I have the SM-G935W8 model.
I see no references to this model in the available ROM's, only support for the F or FD models. I'm new to Samsung phones, but not Android. I'd like to start to tinker with this device, specifically to root it and install AdAway and to be able to uninstall all the bloatware it came with. My device was bought outright so it's not locked to any specific carrier.
The W8 is Exynos based, just like the F and FD models are. Does this mean I can use any ROM created for those models?
Thanks in advance!

Here is an excellent rom which is fully compatible with the canadian S7 Edge W8 model:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/vr-560-tekxnesis-hybrid-s7e-urv1-00-00-t3357561
The developer of the rom has been developing custom roms for android for close 6 years.
His rom is a full featured custom rom and it's truly outstanding. It's a multi-variant G935 rom.
Check it out, and be sure you create a nandroid backup before flashing, just in case you
want to revert back to your existing rom.

Yes it is, I know that...
But the GOOD thing is that the download link is still there and it even WORKS. (The rom works perfectly for me)
The developers here in the S7 Edge thread have a lot of catching up to do before their custom roms have all the user options
and additional rom features like the TEKXnesis HYBRID S7E URv4.5 5/3/16 935F/FD/W8 930F/FD/W8 UNIVERSAL rom has.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I guess I'm just more curious and confused about the compatibility of the W8 model. Will the F or FD roms work on it? That's all there seems to be available.

The F and FD most likely will work on an W8 but I am almost certain you will
loose call audio and perhaps even data unless you can find a fix-audio twrp
flashable zip file to flash after flashing the rom.

I noticed that there are not any Roms avalible in the Roms section

What is halting development/word of Roms coming to the verizon s7? From my experience from what I remember is that if the variant cannot be unlocked, therefore no custom recovery, therefore no point/way to develop for that device.
Locked bootloader-> no recovery = no roms
The Verizon s7 edge has three roms in their rom section.
Roms can be flashed thru flash fire but they are every limited on how much customization can be done.

Clarity on what root is required for

Hi,
I've done fairly extensive flashing (and bricking and modding on my LG g2 but gather things have changed a bit and am a little unsure if root actually required to flash a ROM like superman etc that is based on Samsung stock?
Or is root only required to install recovery, xposed and non stick ROMs?
Any ROM that has been modified in the least bit will be a custom rom.
Superman has some of the base Samsung stock programming, but very little.
Also, Superman, again like most other roms, will be rooted from the start. It gives not only the developers, but the end user much more flexibility and control over the entire OS.
You do not need to be rooted before loading a custom ROM. But, you will need to have the Bootloader unlocked, the proper custom rom ready to go.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge
That should get you pointed in the right direction.
But, before you start loading, make sure that the firmware you're installing is for YOUR exact s7 edge, hardware and model specific.
There are two distinct hardware versions, the Snapdragon and the Exynos.
https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-model-numbers-differences/
The link above will help you identify what brand and hardware version your edge is.
The same is true for official Samsung ROMs. Hardware and model are a huge factor in what ROM is compatible, but carrier is another factor that now comes into play.
The letter (or letter/number) that comes after the model number is a carrier specific phone.
Sm-935T is an S7 Edge, T-mobile carrier. Sm-935v is an s7 edge, Verizon carrier.
Each carrier specific model has different programs and cell network embedded in the ROM.
If you have a 935v, but have T-mobile as your current carrier, you can load the 935t rom on your 935v, unrooted.
But, Before you do that stuff, make sure to look through the XDA forums to get all the info prior to starting.
Having this information before you begin could mean the difference between a working phone or a shiny paper weight.
Tapatalk for Android - Works awesome on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
