Device rootable? Model: SM-T530X BN: KOT49H.T530XXXU1AND7_LLK - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I'm having a little trouble and would love a little insight.
My father purchased the tablet not so long ago, the problem is is that it's a show tablet, the one they have as a live demo in the store.
It comes with something called "Samsung Retail". I've tried a few things to remove it but I've had no luck.
All the possible root guides have different serial numbers to the one I have, I don't want to go ahead and try and root it and it becoming bricked.
They are as follows:
Model: SM-T530X
BN: KOT49H.T530XXXU1AND7_LLK
And help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

[Q] Help with rooting China Version Galaxy SM-N9006 N9006ZCUDMK2

Hey all!
So I finally rid myself of my Apple devices since their support bricked my iPad and refuses to fix it! I got myself a sweet Galaxy Note 3 and love it so far! My issue is that I'm currently living in China for work and my phone is the Chinese Version: SM-N9006 running Android 4.3 with build: J2215J.N9006ZCUDMK2. The AP/CP is N9006ZCUDMK2. I managed to get into the English Samsung app store via VPN and removing the sim card, however, I still cannot get any Google apps since I don't have Google Play installed.
The phone was purchased about a week ago and should be the most recent phone and software version.
Yes, I'm prolly by far the biggest noob in this forum and I'm pooping my pants to brick it somehow XD but well, there's a beginning for everything... I've been on Apple for very long and a bit overwhelmed with the Android platform. So far I've read a couple of sites, forums, discussions, etc. on the benefits of rooting the phone. I found a pretty good explanation on this site by michael1982t:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2495375&page=4
So I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate if someone would take the time and get back at me.
The instructions were writting in October 2013. How relevant are they? Are there any new versions or methods on how to root the Note 3?
Would you guys suggest that this is the way to do it?
In many forums I read about rooting the China Version Note 3 SM-N9006... however, it states that it is the N9006ZCUDMI2 or MI3 version... I have the -MK2 version. Is that a big deal? Will that cause me some kind of software conflict? I have no idea what this number stands for
I'm a bit worried about KNOX and not being able to get into the phone again. I have the activation service turned off and don't really care about the 1 year China-only warranty.
Once the phone is rooted, I then can install the US Platform on it that has all English Apps, Google Store, etc? So from what I understand I would format the phone and play the US platform on it? Or would I just tweak the apps, remove the unwanted Samsung bloatware and Chinese Apps? Would I need the official Android platform or are there any "better" platforms to use? I read something about flashed/roms or gingerbread OS that give much more flexibility and control as to using the phone and getting the most out of it.
I'm running Windows 7. Is Windows XP essential since it is described in the post? I wouldn't think so but I better ask.
From what I read, the only software I need to download to my pc are:
ODIN, CWM recovery and CF-AutoRoot - is that all? Or would someone recommend anything else.
Do I need Samsung Kies at all?
I hope perhaps someone has had the same phone and questions and got an answer or somehow figured it out. I greatly appreciate any help!
Cheers!!

[Q] Knox trip doesn't bother me. Advice on root and Rom

Hi all,
I am a Canadian currently in China. I went and bought the Chinese "international" Samsung Galaxy Note 3, SM-9008VZMUBNA2. I am here for an extended spring festival visit as my wife is from here. I will not be returning here until the same time next year, hence the not worried about tripping knox as the warranty will not be honoured back in Canada.
Let me start by saying that last year, I had a new N7100 that I successfully rooted and installed Paranoid Android on, thanks to XDA and chainfire i think who came up with the method I used, and am very happy with, but I just could not resist the awesomeness of the note 3 and had to have one.
I'm wondering if I can get some of your opinions on the some of the different ways to root this version. I have already seen both what looks to be really very easy (Kingo) and also what looks to be really difficult (Jedi Master). In the same vein, maybe some recommendations about what are solid, stable roms to use.
My version codes are:
AP: N9008VZMUBNA2
CP: N9008VZMUBNA2
CSC: N9008VCHBNA2
Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading your comments.

Well, my phone is rooted now, I used chainfires CP-Auto root, and my phone is very stock. Rooted, but very stock.
Now I need a recovery and a Rom. What I am after is to make my phone a regular note3 in the eyes of google play. Because my phone is a Chinese version, google play does not recognize it as a new device, so I cannot install any of my apps.
Help!
Thanks.

SM-G530W root effort

Hi I'm new have pity on me,
I have a phone that is new and doesn't appear on the list of devices on this forum. I would like to contribute to the effort to gain root on my phone. I would be willing to test anything that anyone writes for this device or alternatively if someone can give me some help getting started I would be happy to try writing my own.
My phone is a SAMSUNG GALAXY GRAND PRIME SM-G530W. [Contact me for link if you can't find one as I can't post links yet]
Android: 5.1.1
Kernel: 3.10.x
This is not supported by any of the models listed on CF-Auto-Root @ [Contact me for link] nor apparently anywhere else on the internet. This is a different model and should not be confused with the SM-G530H or SM-G5306W or anything else.
I have the original firmware acquired from [Contact me for link] and can restore as necessary. I don't care about warranty, I've probably already voided it. As I am a beginner if there is some kind of safety that I might trip and completely wreck my phone please tell me .
I am happy to provide any and all additional info.
Thanks

Hi, your particular variant, the G530W is of interest to the community due to 5.1.1. Okay, for us to help you out we need hardware specs and all. So go to play store and download this app called Samsung Phone Info and open it. Post screenshots of all the information pages shown there, especially Hardware. Once we know your hardware the community can suggest root solutions to you.
To take a screenshot you can hold power and home key at once.
Thank you and awaiting the screenshots.

OK. I'll follow that thread too and see if I can apply anything from it. I think I have an original firmware already though. Don't know if it is the same thing they are trying to get for the G530T though ... it's and .md5 file for odin.

I am using Eastlink (in Canada). So if it is Sprint or Verizon ... I can neither confirm nor deny The firmware page does list about 10 different providers. Don't know which it would have come from first though.

The other one is also serious.
You should stop blaming. Cause diplicating or posting similar threads without event searching is against forum rules.

Hi Nonta. My apologies for the misunderstanding. I realize that these two threads must be similar because you know more than me and you have stated that they are similar. I simply have no idea how they are similar and would like to know if you have the time to enlighten me. I understand that this may be like trying to explain the colour blue to a blind man but I hope that you will take the time. I did search to find similar threads but I didn't find anything that made sense as similar to me.
Thanks,
Marlen

No problem,
The fact that makes both threads similar is that both are talking about "Rooting a model of Grand Prime on Lollipop".
Neither SM-G530T nor SM-G530W are supported by CF-Root.
I'm working on this since long time, but I don't have the device and that slows down my development on the phone.
Take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/verizon-att-samsung-note-5-knox-root-t3183641 the Note 5 and S6 Edge + have Lollipop 5.1.1 and it looks like rooting the Verizon and AT&T versions on them is likely impossible (at least right now).
Keep an eye on this thread, if they come with a workaround, you probably can root yours using this same workaround.
Cool! I didn't realize that rooting was Android version specific. I though it had more to do with the hardware. I'll follow the link you mentioned. If you have anything you would like to try I am happy to test out for you.
Keep us Posted!
As I am looking for the solution to this device, Galaxy Grand Prime Sm-G530W CAD version.
I am sure others are watching this post, I've been watching and I've been watching the added linked post's with no really understanding of how the other post's relate to this one besides of course figuring out Lollipop 5.1.1.
I have the understanding that rooting these systems entails bypassing KNOX and the Bootloader. Now considering the OS version is as important as the Knox, without figuring out how to root these there won't be a solution to this device. With this device, it is important to have the proper version for the SM-G530W or the phone can be Bricked.
Please keep us up-to-date with this forum, as I'm sure others are searching for the same solution on how to root these phones. It's horrible having this as my new phone and not able to access my root features.
Hey y'all,
kernel-root-root-sm-g530t-5-1-1-t3203476
This did root my SM-G530W but I am not certain if there are any security concerns etc. Is the code safe, compromised, sending data to ISIS ?
Maybe someone out there can dissect etc and confirm the safety of this kernel mod?
But it certainly DID root the SM-G530W and yes that is a W
P.S. Sorry ShinySide for expressing my uncertainty over the security of your kernel mod. I spoke before I realized that you are a senior member and have contributed greatly to the cause. I encourage others to Donate so ShinySide can continue helping us with these things. :fingers-crossed:
I tried it and it worked. I did have to do an extra battery take out restart.
You can successfully root SM-G530W with kingroot. THIS WILL NOT TRIP KNOX!!!!!
Only downside is that you can not use SuperSu. You are forced to use their Kingroot program.
I happened to root with kingroot and when I rebooted my phone, KNOX/bootloader detected the su binaries and refused to boot, so I had to re-image my phone. use with extreme caution. using Bell Canada version of Samsung G530W

How to upgrade rooted Note 3 from 4.4.2 to current (Newbie here)

TL;DR Help a newbie with upgrading my rooted Note 3 from 4.4.2 to a more current version please. I'm old and dumb and really tried to find an answer before embarrassing myself on a forum of experts. Knowing me, the answer is probably right under my nose. Go easy on me <3
Hey guys,
I used the search function on this site and on google but was unable to find what I'm looking for.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with T-Mobile. I have Android aversion 4.4.2 and my model number is SM-N900T.
I rooted my phone using a guide I found on youtube to get superuser for the purpose of being able to play emulators on my phone, such as Snes9x EX+, Nostalgia.NES Lite, ePSXe, etc. They all work great. I am not using a custom ROM.
The problem I'm facing is that I don't understand if I need to unroot (correct term?) my phone and just get the auto updates, or to download and install them manually, but I'm unable to receive auto updates over the air as I'm sure you guys would know since this is your hobby and are versed in this sort of thing. I don't even know how to do either really properly but am not afraid to try.
The reason I'm wanting to upgrade now (which might be completely unrelated) is that I haven't been receiving text messages from either my sister or my roommate, whom both of their last messages were received by me on Aug. 5th. I tried contacting my carrier and they said they didn't detect a problem. Both of their carriers said the same thing (one being T-Mobile as well). I guess this is just another step in troubleshooting but I would like to believe this is a network issue.
Any advice would help and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I have questions about Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3 Virgin Mobile

I have a few questions for anyone familiar with the Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3. I have virgin mobile, and after a long time suffering with their HTC Desire 510, I want to upgrade, and not wanting to spend $400 on a galaxy S5 , the J3 seems the next best phone to get. However, as I've grown used to having a rooted phone and customizing my phone as much as I want, etc, I want to make sure my next phone can be rooted, and has support for custom ROM's, etc.
The main thing that could help me with my decision would be some guidance as to whether other versions, the J2, J5, J7, etc, that are present here would be potentially compatible with the J3, or if I'm out of luck and should consider other options if rooting is a necessity for me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Anyone?
I'm sure you can root it.
I'm using j5 and it took me like 15 minutes of reading and about an hour /including downloading and setting up all the things /for the root.
I just want to say that you would need to be prepared to wait until someone make a custom Rom for it.

Thats what I was thinking. I figure that rooting it (hopefully) is similar to the other J series. As long as its rooted, wouldn't I be able to (even w/o custom rom) debloat/customize/etc it with various root tools, apps2sd, etc? Or are those dependent on having a custom rom? On the only phone I've rooted so far (htc desire 510) I didn't really spend any time with stock rom when I rooted, instead immediately flashing Nonsense rom, so I'm not sure what limitations keeping stock rom comes with when rooted.
Thank you for the reply! It gives me a bit of hope at least.
I'm not really familiar with the device. As I said before I have a j5. According to the applications that you mentioned I think that it would be possible to get and install them. But rooting isn't quantum mechanics. There are some apps that you could easily install on almost any device and get the root privileges. For example kingroot I am sure you can find others. I usually root my devices trough pc.I recommend you to take some time before jumping on the first option that comes up as a possible solution.
According to changing the stock Rom. I don't known how developed is that treat so.. Again read here and there about it.
GL!
Let me know if I helped by hitting the thumb up
I dont think permanent root is going to be possible until a working twrp is made so that you can flash supersu. I know that sux, I wanted to get one for my wife because she broke the screen on her vm s3. But without root and the ability to get unlimited hotspot... nope. I asked a dev ( lrs121) if he would port twrp to it. He said he would try if I had the phone and could get him the necessary files from it. Look in the sprint s3 section under twrp for virgin and boost s3. He is a great dev.
Actually far as I can say there are 2 twrp options. you just have to read more

I am by no means a noob, and when I answer someone, I generally throw in a link.
But thanks for letting me know it exists.
Is it another phones twrp that works? Any hints at all?

Sorry i was on the phone while traveling. I`ve mistaken that it was about the j5 ( like mine device) and for that especially i had tried 2 working options up to now for twrp. but i`m pretty sure you can find tutorials or you can even simply DL the twrp /for example/ 3 install it as an apk and than you if it stuck just would need to DL odin for your PC and than strictly follow the steps / install /unzip odin, connect device , go into DL mode and flash it with the stock ROM which you can find in sammobile /.com i guess/ ?
GL and hit thanks if i helped!
