Hi everyone,
I picked up my GSIII yesterday (SGH-I747, Bell version from Canada). The phone is a champ, but so far I found fairly serious problem. My car has bluetooth phone functions built in. I paired the phone with it, and it pairs just fine. I can receive and make calls from the car just fine as well, but there is no incoming or outgoing audio. When connected to my car's bluetooth, there is no audio going through my car's speakers or through the phone. It is only when I grab the phone and unclick the "bluetooth headset" button that I can talk on the phone. If I turn "bluetooth headset" back on, there is no sound again. My car worked with my old Blackberry 8330, so the car is fine. It's a 2009 Mercedes-Benz B200, fully loaded, Canadian spec. It has the AUDIO 20 system built in.
My phone specs are as follows:
-stock ROM, not rooted or anything (do we have root yet?)
-Baseband: I747MVLLE8
-Build: IMM76D-I747MVLLE8
The GSII seemed to have the same problem when it came out and it was fixed with a firmware update (http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/5212-Speaker-and-mic-problem-when-calling-someone.)
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Did u by any chance turned down the volume on the phone?

Bluetooth worked fine in my car. Made a call. And they could hear me and I heard them. This with a Kenwood hdx6980

after pairing did you go into the bluetooth setting for the paired device (car) and check the "call audio" box?

Nope, I checked the volume and everything is turned up the way it's supposed to be.

Yep. It's checked. Moreover, if I uncheck it, the car doesn't connect to the phone.
I'll check my calling this morning, but yesterday I had streaming audio via bluetooth (audible playing a book). The only thing I noticed was that, unlike my old myTouch 4g running CM7, the book didn't stop playing when I turned the car off. That's something I'll have to work out.
EDIT - it's only audible that gives me a problem - looks like a specific app issue.
I'll l have to check if my calls work. All my music and podcast work good. They stop when the car turns off and starts up again when I start the car the next day.
Edit: Just tried it out and incoming and outgoing call sounds work great. No issues here.

I have absolutely no issues with incoming and outgoing calls through Bluetooth in my car. Also, I have no issues playing music through Bluetooth. Possibly try a factory reset on your phone and try again...
It sounds like all your cars support A2DP for playing music. Mine doesn't, it just acts as an old-school bluetooth headset. Can that make a difference?
Mine plays perfectly using Googles Play Music streaming service, also calls work fine, too. This is on my Dodge's U-Connect.
Update: I tried with an old jawbone headset to see if it's a general Bluetooth problem or just specific to my car. The jawbone works like a charm, so it's not a problem with Bluetooth versions or anything like that. But I did notice something interesting: in the Bluetooth options in the gs3 the jawbone comes up with a picture of a phone handset beside it whereas the car has a picture of headphones. I think that's the problem: the phone recognized the wrong Bluetooth profile. I can't seem to delete th car off the list of Bluetooth devices. This is rreally irritating. Any suggestions (short of a total reset)? Thanks!
You might see if there's an update for your car's Bluetooth... if so that might fix your issue.

No go so far. I'll have to try a reset, otherwise wait for an update or some custom ROMs.
Update: I still haven't done the reset, but I went to the Mercedes dealer today. They told me (after almost a day of investigating) that Germany said that the GSIII is forever incompatible with the B200. I think that's pretty dumb because the problem is clearly software, but the dealer seems to be washing its hands of this matter.
I haven't been able to get either of my Bluetooth headsets to work with my N7. But before anyone asks, yes, I have searched the forum for answers but there doesn't seem to be any consensus on how to solve the problems.
I have the stock 4.2.2 ROM, unlocked and rooted. Bluetooth sees and connects with both of my headsets, each of which work with my Mint 14 desktop, but the only sound I get is an occasional clicking noise. Pretty much as if all of the audio is being clipped. Also, once a headset connects, I do lose sound from the internal speakers, as expected. But disconnecting the Bluetooth doesn't get it back. I have to reboot to get sound back.
My question is this: Is my problem due to the N7 having compatibility problems with some headsets or is this a universal problem. IOW, does anyone have a Bluetooth headset connected where both the mic and earphone work? And with all or most apps? I'm primarily concerned with having something to work with MagicJack.
I use my bluetooth headphones to listen to music. I just tried using Google Now with it (I put my finger on the normal mic so I would know which mic it was using) and It seems to work okay. Idk if it is the headphone or the connection but it took me two tried to get it to play music.

I just oredered a new headset off eBay that claims to work with the N7. We shall see.:fingers-crossed:
I'd like to know which Bluetooth headsets are known to work and on what models of N7 (grouper or tilapia).
If I understand correctly, an N7 wifi-only (grouper), will only respond to Bluetooth headset button presses and voice input if you modify the bool.xml file in framework-res.apk? Can anyone confirm that any Bluetooth headset will work (button presses and voice input) on grouper without that mod?
I've used my Bluetooth headset with my tablet without any tinkering, i didn't do much with it but it easily played/paused and changed tracks in Google Music. I've got Kinivo BTH220 headphones (yes they're cheap and are probably knockoffs. These had more details than the Artics or any other lookalikes and they work well enough for my needs) and a rooted stock N7. Oh and if your headsets giving you trouble check the pairing type under bluetooth settings. My phone has a habit of sometimes only pairing phone audio not media audio.

My Sony DR-BT22 headset has always worked great with the Nexus 7 providing I do not use the Wi-Fi at the same time. I am using a custom ROM but they worked fine with the std one.
All the headset controls work as well, pause. volume, rewind, skip etc.
But I have never needed to use the mic.
There is an issue when using both BT and Wi-Fi together. Either popping and stuttering BT or greatly reduced Wi-Fi speeds and erratic connection.
I posted about it here, but got no response....

I'm using a set of Motorola s10 Bluetooth headphones on my nexus 7.
I'm currently on the paranoid android Rom.
They work great out of the box.
All buttons work, I haven't tried voice commands though.
One thing to look for is some headsets will only pair to one device at a time.
In order to pair them with another device you have to factory reset them.
My particular headphones allow you to pair with one device for phone calls and a second device for music only.
But beyond that they require a factory reset to pair with anything else.
So if you already have them paired to your desktop you may need to reset them before pairing to your nexus.

I have the same and they work. There was an issue with WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time. Try disabling WiFi and see if you have any better luck.
If you do, the only way I've found that corrects this is to go back to stock 4.1, relock, update to 4.2 normally, then unlock, flash cwm, and go back to your 4.2 custom rom. Nothing else worked.
I had troubles with Bluetooth headphones and controllers when using WiFi yet they paired and worked perfectly on my sons stock 4.2 N7.
After going back to stock and reflashing the same rom/kernel combo, it magically started working. Try that.

So my OnePlus Two works pretty great I just have one issue. When listening to Bluetooth audio in the car I don't have any song info on the screen of my car, also the I have no control over skipping or selecting songs through the head unit. Is anyone else having this issue?
Can someone help me as well. I purchased a sound bar today and when I play music through it I start to have Internet connection problems both wifi and mobile data.

well for me it makes to car system to crash, even worse !! I had to desactivate this to be able to use bluetooth
Thats strange that yours works, this is also an issue on the oneplus forums.

Swift 2 Plus - Same Issue
I know this is a dead-ish thread. I have the same issue on my Swift 2 Plus. It is running Cyanogen, which is a varient of the Android OS. Did anyone find a fix/workaround at all?
I've been using the LG G6 for nearly a week now, and everything worked well. I have 4 different Bluetooth devices paired with the phone, a couple headphones, a UE Speaker, my Moto 360. When I paired the phone with my 2016 Acura RDX, the bluetooth app crashes on the phone, and the phone then goes into a bluetooth crashing loop. So every few seconds after the phone restarts the BT, it crashes again and again. I have had no such issues with any other Android phone (Pixel XL, S6, Nexus, Note 7). I tried unpairing the phone with the car and pairing again. I removed all other phones from my cars BT device list. I tried clearing the BT App cache. Rebooting the phone. Nothing worked so far. What is even stranger about it, is that when I go to the G6 settings, and turn off "Media Audio" and use just the "Call Audio", it works just phone. As soon as I turn back on "Media Audio", it immediately crashes and starts the cycle again. I use Google Music for my service. Not sure what I can do to fix this issue.
I have the same problem but only in youtube..when i watch something and then dissmis it blutooth crashes and then it reconects again but no force closes after that..until next video and so on..even when i hear music and stop it crashes for one time and thats it..really strange i hope lg will fix that soon
Could be something going on with the hardware. I'd exchange the phone.
Having the same issue with a 2015 MDX. Haven't found a solution yet.
When playing music to a BT speaker, it seems to require a skip of tracks before the music starts playing. After that, it see fine. The MDX, though, it all cuts out - both phone and music.

Very odd. I've streamed for over 5 hours on two different days to a UE Boom and Oontz Angle and haven't experienced any issue. I know this is drastic, but have you tried a factory reset?

Yes, as well as deleting the connections and repairing them. The G6 seems to have evened out with other BT speakers - works without issue it seems - but continues to struggle with the Acura system.

I drove a 2013 Civic for awhile and had issues with the blue tooth in that car. I wonder if it's a Honda thing. Volkswagon's blue tooth sucks as well, that and their overhead dome light assemblies squeak and rattle - that drove me nuts. Toyota's blue tooth just works.

Tested the G6's bluetooth on a 2015 Acura TLX and it has the same issue as the OP. Shows BT connected, turn on Google Music, start a song and Bluetooth crashes. Bluetooth eventually restarts and song plays for a second and crashes again. No solution found.
There was another user on Reddit that stated he had the same issue and restarted his phone a bunch of times and it fixed the issue. This however did not work for me.
For reference, I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu, and while I haven't experienced the same issue with bluetooth crashing, I do not get a steady stream through the car's audio. It seems to be isolated to LG; I had the exact same issue with my G5, and it's been no different with the G6. I also have a Samsung GS7 and it streams through bluetooth just fine. Based on what I've seen here and in other threads, I believe this is a software issue that LG can fix.

I've not had this issue with my Bluetooth on my mazda cx5. Or my audio receiver at home. Interesting. Mayne update your cars infotainment system to the latest version?
I've used mine with 2014 eXcelon and 2006 Alpine with kca-100BT adapter and neither has had issues.
Bluetooth is a highly inconsistent technology. Even when devices supposedly support the same profiles, sometimes their Bluetooth stacks or hardware just don't work well together.
Hopefully future updates will fix this issue for you, or, as lg3FTW mentioned, maybe there's a firmware update for your stereo.

I think it is. I just got the LG G6 and I'm having the same issues. I did some research and it seems the problem is mostly occurring on the Honda/Acura cars.
This is incredibly frustrating. Hoping someone found a fix or an update comes soon to solve the problem. Not being able to use the hands free bluetooth is a dealbreaker for me.
I got the new update today (H87310d) and it did not fix the issue. In the meantime I have signed up for Spotify as I cannot use the Google music app in my car.
I have found one odd way to get to it work. If I leave the phone far away from the car where it is still able to connect. The connection will be fuzzy but I found the app will not crash.
I think it's most likely an issue of BT4.2 trying to connect with older BT versions... Honda probably uses the old 3 or 2 even on their devices.
I've had similar issues with other phones and with other stereos as well, my old S4 had this issue with a 2009 JVC head unit with BT2.0, streaming would just not work properly, if I switched to my other car with a 2014 Kenwood HU with BT 3.0 I had no issues.
Having same issue with my Pioneer head unit. I have two of them in 2 different vehicles and the same issue happens. For some reason with Google music it's worse than others. I can play music fine but if I switch to another station of track the BT crashes and reconnects than keeps playing again. Same happened with Spotify but less frequently. I called LG and they were no help. With my Lgg4 I had some BT issues in the past with some firmware Versions but not this bad. With the latest version it was working fine With these head units. I really like LG phones but hate the bugs they sometimes have. Hopefully they will fix soon. Wish they could just get a log and figure out the issue.

Or, I dunno, let us unlock the bootloader and the community here could fix it once we had root
Isn't there a way to contact LG regarding this? This IS a defect. Surely there has to be a way to record/log this for them to fix.
I just recently purchased a LG G6 and I am also having connection problems with Bluetooth. I drive a 13 Honda Accord and while playing music the app shuts off then back on and repeats this process.
FYI I was having the same crashing problem streaming via Play Music with my G6 to my 2105 TLX. However if I stream using DoubleTwist bluetooth works great. So my problem seems to be isolated to the Google Play app. Odd.

any app will do it Audible amazon music the default music app Play music all of them crash the bluetooth

like someone said above if I skip to the next song sometimes the music comes back .. very annoying indeed.
O and my phones less than a week old
When I connect the smartphone with the car via Bluetooth, the music is just intermittent suonds. How do I fix this?
I would like to know this too, anyone?
I started having this same issue after the last/first Tmobile update, before it was fine.
Same thing here. The music would either play through the phone's earpiece or sound like a call playing through the Bluetooth speaker. I read YouMail was a cause so I uninstalled and it still happened I force closed the phone app and it worked normally after that. The issue may definitely be from the T-Mobile update tho.
Yeah been having an issue with volume fading after initial connection, drives me nuts since I use the phone for GPS and music streaming. so I use the v30 for bt music and OnePlus for gps
I'm having an issue with the phone trying to automatically connect to a second Bluetooth device and begin playing music on it. This happened tonight while following behind my wife's car.
Every time we stopped at a light it would connect and I would loose audio in my vehicle and play in hers. No way to stop it connecting other than forget the device or turn off all the functions in that device settings.

Bluetooth nightmare
I've been having the same issue since I bought my T-Mobile 6T last year and am pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to fix it. I have a "GTA Car Kit" Bluetooth module installed in my '06 Mazda 3 and I use Android Auto with my phone docked in a CD slot mount to give me hands-free text messaging, navigation and music / audiobooks. My phone is also always connected to my android wear watch, so it's technically connected to two Bluetooth devices at once when I use it.
The problem is that audio playback via Pandora, Google Music and my audiobook app that plays on-device mp3's intermittently stutters or skips. It happens immediately sometimes, other times it will work perfectly for half of my commute and then start stuttering every few seconds until I finally just turn off the music/audiobook completely.
I've tried:
Turning bluetooth on and off
Turning my car radio on and off
Changing the developer mode settings for Bluetooth AVRCP Version, Codec, Sample Rate, Playback quality etc.
Clearing storage/cache for Bluetooth
Switching to the international version ROM for the device
Once I got the Oxygen OS v10 update I really though the problem was fixed, but after a few days of working fine it started skipping again.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this or other things I can try?
[EDIT] I found one more new thing to try on the OnePlus 6T forums https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/bluetooth-stuttering-solved.1076196/
I'll give this a try and report back
