CM13 - Can't update apps !!! - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello community,
I installed CyanogenMod 13 with Marshmallow on my Nexus 4, but it seems my apps are outdated and I can't update them.
I thought this is a problem only with Google apps, because I flashed the "nano" package, but it isn't.
For example, when I search Google Play for Google Maps, the last version of it appears to be from December 8, 2015. But if I search it from my PC, it is from January 11, now.
The same problem with Facebook and other apps.
I wish somebody to tells me what could cause this. I'm new into custom roms.
Thank you!

Actually just ran into this issue, updated to nightly cm, as i do monthly, and it upgraded to cm13, which is great and all.
Problem:
Cant flash ANY gapps version, no matter the size.
I have formatted system, data, etc, then fresh install cm13, same issue.
I attempted to revert to cm12 but most of the links from dec arent working so tried stable snapshot, ran into same exact issue with cm13.
So currently, running cm13, without google apps so I can at least have a phone which works.
Not sure the solution. I have flashed multiple recoveries to confirm wasnt any issue with not being supported, etc, no avail. Tried cm13's default recovery, the issue is insufficient space when installing gapps, again, even with formating /system and /data.
Any solutions to do would be greatful. I have searched forums and found other people with other devices with same issues, but no solution worked.

Fix found, dont use the crappy ogapps, use: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/gapps-gapps-6-0-1-minimal-t3276606
Flashed without issues and works great. Stupid CM for supporting opengapps.

No bluetooth sound on S4, even back to stock ROM
Hello. S4 with 10/21 nightly. Everything ok, except for bluetooth sound (tested with 2 Samsung BT headsets and car). BT gets discovered, and the call is transmitted to the BT device (it tells me "call terminated" as I finish the call). Notification and multimedia sound works perfectly through bluetooth. It fails only for the call sound, including ring tone and voice.
I've tried everything I imagined, including M releases, stock ROMS, etc., with the same result. Every test done with full wipe, format data, system,sd, cache... 10/21 nightly works perfect, except for this. But now after trying the official sammobile rom without success it looks like the problem is not with the nightly rom.
I guess some file (in a place not updated by the ROM) could be altered, and now whatever ROM I install it lacks bluetooth sound.
Any ideas? Thank you...
[Edit]: firmware version missing, so here it goes:
Cm version: 11-20141021-NIGHTLY-jflte
Baseband: I9505XXUGNG8
Kernel: 3.4.104-cyanogenmod-g52b4b50
Thanks...
Logcat
This is the logcat I get when I connect the bluetooth device, it gets recognized and activated, I make a call and supposedly get the ring tone (but no sound on BT device) and finally I interrupt the call.
Hope it helps.

Open Settings - Personal - Privacy - Filter Notifications (manage ignored and filters.) and now press the top right icon. Wtf is this?
I have lost service notification for sklavex's call recorder, and instead I get the wrong one.. But never mind this. That is how I 'discovered' that option. Call recorder was on the list of filtered notifications. I have removed it from there, but that didn't help with my issue at all.
What really buffels me is the long list of notifications I see when u press that icon... All that notifications have usually appeared in notification panel, and now I don't see them there, but instead they appear in that strange mystical list... I haven't add anything to that list..
Not really related to my question here, but since I mentioned the issue in previous post... My Call Recorder notification came back after I flashed GoogyMax kernel, which I run for a few days, just before my issue started (it actually maybe started just after I flashed the stock CM with the ROM.). I really don't like this. Custom kernel which messes with things like that. Maybe custom 1.22.2 busybox which comes with the kernel has something to do with it?
I also upgraded to the latest SuperSU, which is also quite sad, considering I like open source, but Koush's Superuser is not so well supported and some apps do not even work with it...

No sound during call bug? That's a bad one.
Since I have no idea about what gave you done until now, how did you upgrade, which software have you installed etc, I can only recommend clean (format data, cache, system is anyway formated when you flash CM.) install of the latest nightly.

I clean flashed CM11 M10. At this point everything was ok. I had the bug the first time after upgrading via OTA from M10 to M11 (dirty flash). Now i am running 1025 nightly (dirty flash as well) because i wanted to check if the bug appears on this version as well. So is there any other option than reinstall and clean flash?

So bug persist even now after you flashed yesterday's nightly?
You started pretty bad, because M10 is maybe the worst build ever, at elastic for this device.
You would have to look for so ****ed up build, and if you find one which is worse, it would be around that period between 10th or bit later August (few builds after M9 things started to go backwards quite badly.) and few builds after M10 (few builds after M10 things started to fix them self, but slowly. Last nightlies are best you can get for this device (except M9, and nightlies around that period.) IMO.
so, because you started with M10 I would suggest doing a clean install. In case if even that fails, than stock or Samsung based ROM with odin, and afterwards recent nightly.
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 PM ----------
Of course, my suggestions could be a bit extreme, so feel free to experiment, or wait for another recommendations...
Apparently fixed with 10.25

Hi. I just flashed 10/25 nightly and after a few trials, including a call with no answering but with a couple of minutes ringing, it suddely got fixed. Bluetooth started working in the iddle of that call, and it works from then on. Will report if it fails again.
Thanks for your coding and support.

Which is latest nightly
Hi there. I'm trying to update to latest nightly. Of what I see in the post they are now the same for the 19500 model and the 19505 one(the one I have) so I downloaded the latest one. When I try to install it with clocworks recovery it tells me that the phone model is different that the one required by the rom. Is there any way to solve this that doesnot require formatting my phone again? My current rom build date is 20140217. Thanks in advance for answering. Im sorry if this is not the right place to post.

You probably have to update your recovery. Flash the latest cwm and try again. Also it is i9505 AFAIK, not 19505.

lg magna linage 14.1
I installed linage 14.1 (nougat 7.1.2) on my lg magna everything is fine but one thing when I go to YouTube I get this green red transpernt boxes during video it feels like graphics corruption but after some time it fixes itself. And by the way I heard that ota updates are available for lg magna I would like to download but the link for ota update.zip was removed for some reason
I flashed it on my H502f and I got some bugs (maybe unsupported):
- [Stock] Browser stops by force all the time
- Spotify always stops by force
- FM Radio said "Currently unavailable" and being fully unusable.
- I can't book rides on Uber
- GPS sensors don't work at all
- LED Lights fully unusable
- Great amount of battery drainage
- Wi-Fi scans slowly
- Helium (app by ClockWorkMod) is not working both on ADB mode and root mode
- Ampere (app) always show value 0.
- Always boot when charging when the phone is turned off
What mods that I have installed?
I uses:
- SELinux Permissive by the Dev Options (flashed ZIP)
- Google Assistant for LineageOS (flashed ZIP)
What should I do? I really need those bugged features for my daily use.
UPDATE 2017-05-25:
- I can use my GPS now, though it loads slowly.
- I can book my Uber rides, with Google Maps

The ROM is not intended for H502y. It will break your device if you flashed it.
Wesley, do you still have the cm13 link?
Can you tell me the bugs of the new version lineage 14.1? And if its better from the stock rom
I have a h502y (dual sim). Can I install this ROM on it? Will it still have dual sim support? If not, what ROM would you recommend?
Dear OP,
Well, you should change the thread title as the ROM now uses Android 7.1.2
And why don't you upload download links to the thread. It's not 4PDA's, its Yandex.Disk link.

Root issue
I have installed 7.1.2 Resurrection Remix on my LG H502F recently and it's fantastic. Only problem is that i can't root, atleast not properly. The only rooting option that works for me is Kingoroot. The pc version. Not the other one.. And even then the root access is fishy and temporary. It works randomly. And when i reboot, it's gone. I've tried all kinds of methods but nothing seems to work. One thing i noticed was that when i tried to flash SuperSu thru twrp, it said failed to unpack boot.img under the boot.img patcher . Please anyone in the knowhow.

Most stable rom for V410 AT&T?

hello everyone
i need best stable rom for lg gpad 7 v410
i have 4.4.2 stock. i rooted it and than unroot again but never give me OTA update
i need stable best rom for v410
can anyone help me?
I've just started going through the motions of rooting, flashing a custom recovery, and finding a ROM for my daughter's (4 year old) v410 LG G Pad 7 too. I started with the stock Android Kit Kat ROM 4.4.2 on the device of course and then updated to 5.0.2 when it was available. The device (with only 1 gb RAM) slowed to a crawl and she's been complaining about the device's speed for over a year. There is a custom build of Lineage OS 14.1 but it's been universally acclaimed as too slow. Seems there are several versions of CandyROM Five and Six floating around which are Android Marshmallow 6 and Nougat 7.1 based. I'm going to try the latest Candy Six ROM, the latest I can find from December 2016 and see how that goes. Honestly, the most stable is probably the original stock 4.4.2 though I'd take the occasional crash to get this device more up to date to it would be useful for a couple of more years.
---------- Post added at 11:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 AM ----------
Oh, and be sure you read this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787067&postcount=699 to get a one-stop-fix to flash if you return the device to stock Kit Kat. The attached .zip fix there will let you avoid a lot of headache in adb trying to repartition after you flash the beta recovery image .kdz file.
________________________________________
I couldn't get any of the Nougat 7.1. Candy ROMS I'd found to load without corruption so I'm going to run the LineageOS 14.1 image for a few days. So far, it's a bit slow but no more than I'd expect with a device with only 1 gb RAM and a Snapdragon 400. If nothing changes, I'll stick with this ROM until it's badly out of date since there doesn't seem to be anything newer available.
CrDroid is by far the best and most stable rom for this device. For some reason I never see it even mentioned. It's based on Lineage and Android 7.1.2, and has a massive amount of built in customization. It was also released at the end of 2018, making it the newest Rom available to my knowledge. Go to androidfilehost.com and download it from there.

I hadn't tried CrDroid on the v410 as I pretty much excluded anything that wasn't newer than 2018 in my recent searches. I've had wifi connectivity issues with the v410 on every ROM, but the one I've been using (or at least my daughter) has been unable to automatically connected to wifi. It always has to be toggled manually. Rather annoying and bad for my data plan.
Speaking of the LG v410 though, there's a new ROM for the v410 that I just discovered and wanted to post it so others can take a look. I don't have time at the minute to check it out, but it's seemingly based on Android 7 Nougat and might be better than what we've got at the moment: https://tmp.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=299916 I'll post something about it as soon as I have time to test it out.
That's the new "Googleless" e/ operating system created by one of the founding developers of Lineage OS. It's supposed to revolutionize Android in a sense from my understanding, and possibly be the next big operating system. You can actually purchase refurbished phones Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy s8 and more pre-installed with this OS on it. Is very quick and it works extremely well on The V410 from my experience, but it takes a lot of getting used to. It's pre-installed with gmscore to get around Google, and contains a lot of security and privacy features. The launcher itself is extremely different, and goes by the name of Bliss launcher. It's extremely lightweight and I see huge potential in it, but it could be potentially frustrating for your daughter if she is used to relying on Google. It's based off of 7.1.2, and I would suggest trying it out just to experience it and see what you think for a bit, as it's a very quick flash and throwing magisk on it is a breeze. I know exactly what you're talking about with the Wi-Fi issues. It seems to plague every ROM for this tablet except for the lollipop ROMs like Tesla. As for this new OS, I've had no wi-fi issues whatsoever. The interface is actually perfect for a tablet! Of course you can still run Google apps on it if you choose, which I am in the process of trying out currently. I flashed this rom a couple weeks ago and it was a huge and very pleasant surprise when the boot screen appeared, but I couldn't help but take a shot at flashing the stock 4.4.2 pre-rooted ROM back to my g pad 4 a short while because I found myself in a scenario where I needed to use the infrared remote.. if you haven't heard of it already, look up E/ OS and take a look at what it has to offer! I desperately been searching for a lineage 15 ROM with no luck.

You can bypass the welcome screen by tapping each corner of the display clockwise until it Skips the initial setup, then go back and enter in any info necessary. You don't have to do it very quickly but sometimes it takes a little while and some patience to get it to work.
---------- Post added at 06:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:04 AM ----------
Side note.. I found that using magisk and flashing FDE.AI , along with the low ram enabler module which you have to search for because it is no longer in the magisk repo " AKA Android go Edition enabler" solves most of the lag issues if not all of them on this tablet.
I've come to realize after flashing every ROM I can find multiple times on my v410, that the newer android builds are just too slow for this tablet no matter what. After a fresh install, they're mostly all quick, but it doesn't take much to slow them down. Ground Zero Roms are very well built even though there are no newer builds. Tesla High Voltage is very quick and stable with no WiFi issues. Tipsy is a slimmed down version and works well but I like the features of Tesla much more. Validus is awesome but there's a couple bugs I haven't figured out yet. It comes with both Trebuchet and Nova launcher preinstalled, has a really nice dark theme and very badass boot and shutdown animations, a keyboard that adapts in color and transparency based on the page loaded, and various visual options. Using Omniswitch for recents will cause a crash sometimes which I haven't figured out, but the regular navbar can be changed in height, and various buttons can be added and icons changed. I prefer to turn the navbar off and the Pie navigation on. Systemless Xposed causes settings to crash on Validus, and so does Lucky Patcher. If I can get these things figured out, this would be my preferred daily use ROM, but out of the box I think Tesla holds up in the long run compared to everything I've tried. It just needs a few updates due to the older android version, the only necessary one in my experience is the browser and webview. Although they are larger in size, Bromite browser and webview are the quickest and most stable. The difference is so large that it is impossible to go unnoticed. I can not get Bromite webview to flash through Magisk however, but the apk installs with no hiccups. Kernel Auditor comes built in as well.
Thanks for the info and link to the unofficial E/OS. I thought it was just another boot-looping dead end when I flashed it via TWRP but I went back into TWRP and wiped the dalvik cache...viola, it booted right into a first time script.
Pros: this is fast. the tablet is so much more usable now. It has some good built in apps and the app store seems to connect directly into the google play store, so I was installing regular android apps right away. The built in maps is surprisingly useful. It has a good navigation feature that is like a streamlined google maps nav. I like the privacy aspects. While I was tempted to link to my google account, I might prefer to leave it unlinked. with a 4g sim card, this would be a great device for traveling abroad and I'd be less paranoid connecting to unfamiliar wifi or cell networks. With a couple of movies and ebooks loaded on a 200gig microSD card, it would make a great offline device as well.
Cons: I still have the same wifi issues that the lineage OS and Cyanogen mod builds had. I have to reconnect to wifi every time the tablet wakes up. Considering the privacy in traveling use case, though, this could be considered an advantage.
Now I regret canceling the extra Tmobile line that the gpad used to be on. Maybe I'll catch another add a line free promo.
WiFi is important to me. Is there anything other than stock that works?

It may not matter. I literally want this device to do one thing only -- act as a Sonos front end -- and it appears I can only choose to either have broken wifi or too-old an android version.

Best root process?

I’m going to wait a little bit before doing my root. I had a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 recently die on me. I tried replacing the charging port and the battery but the thing was still dead. So I ordered an S5e. It should be arriving tomorrow. I’m just curious what everyone is doing with it now. I did a quick search and it looks like root is available now. But the instructions I found are outdated saying a recovery method (TWRP) wasn’t available but there was a news announcement saying it now was. So I’m kind of lost.
Like I said, I want to play around with it unmodded for a while before I root it. Just looking for a clear cut “best” way to go about doing it and seeing what the most recommended options are.
On my s10 I remember having TWRP as the recovery and Cyanogen was the OS.
Thanks!

I spent the whole weekend in my new s5e wifi edition, the truth as follows:
There are 4 ROMs for this tablet:
Original (shipped with Samsung ROM, Android 9) - Everything works fine, antutu v8 183k, but full of crapware from Samsung, suspicious apps and services, don't waste your time doing root on this ROM
LineageOS 16 (Android 9) - So far the best ROM at this moment, antutu v8 183k too, stable and HDMI issues too, but there is a workaround, (look my other HDMI problem thread)
LineageOS 17 (Android 10) - Trebuchet launcher crashing constantly, HDMI issues so I didn't test antutu because felt too unstable, so I gave up too
LuisROM - antutu v8 170k and HDMI issues too, so I gave up
I installed all the ROMs using TWRP, the root just works with magisk, the official LOS16 root su zip doesn't work. Once you have the TWRP installed you can just install the magisk .zip the same way you do with the ROMs, then the magisk manager will appear installed automatically where you can check the root status. Good luck!

Why not root the original rom and delete as much crapware as possible after root? That was my plan when my tab S5e will arrive.
You speak about TWRP but in this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-root-t3947806 and that is the only decent one I could find, they explain that TWRP does not work on the Tab S5e because of changes Samsung made. Are yu saying that TWRP works?

Those posts are a reference, dont follow their procedures hoping that will work as they described... yes I AM using TWRP it works, get from their website "twrp-3.3.1-4-gts4lvwifi.img.tar" and "vbmeta.tar" then via ODIN, flash them, one each time, rebooting after the process. Once you have the TWRP installed, you can play around with any ROM and do the root as I explained before. I don't trust in a ROM full of crapware, its my point of view, cleaning based on tests you can never be sure if there is nothing left stealing your data or forcing updates or whatever samsung decides... so LOS is the way, clean, open-source, nothing to hide.

that is amazing news....I would love to try this out with my device and downloaded the files you suggested. I also found "PGP Signature vbmeta.tar.asc", do I need that too?
I have to admit that I have not much experiencing rooting...I only installed TWRP on my Samsung J5 phone years ago and after that I loaded another rom (I think lineage) on it. a stripped down version that offered more intern memory and that is still running smooth on my phone today.
So would it be possible to give me some more advice? Is it correct that I have to connect the S5e with Odin by booting it in download mode? And can you tell me where I have to load the files in Odin? Is it in the AP section?
And are there options I have to enable in Odin? (I heard something about a reboot option you have to enable or disable).
I hope you can help me with those questions. What model of tab are you using btw? Is it a 720 ?
Thanx in advance,
Jan

I found this guide, if you can confirm you did it this way, I will give it a try:

exactly, you got it!

This part is up to you, In later tries I did all at once, but be careful and flash one image per time until you feel confident

SM-T720 the wifi only version
Thanx in advance,
you are welcome!

New Lineageos 17.1 battery always at 0%

Hi guys,
Am I the only one getting battery indicator always at 0% (even while charging) on the new lineageos 17.1 for the mi note 2?
Twrp shows the battery % correctly, but the OS doesn't. I've tried to clear all cache and did a fresh install, still the same.
Good night!
The same thing happened to me.
But it looks like it's already being fixed.

In the next update it must be fixed.
I'm having the same bug. Let's hope they fix it soon.
https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/2112
Lineage 17.1 updated today.
What's your considerations about this rom, guys?
Someone could tell me if google pay works?
Installed the last build with gapps stock: everything works fine, gcam, Google pay, and so on.
Only a little problem with the Google backup.
It was impossible to restore, because the continuous crash of the app.
New weekly today. Battery seems improved!?
