Hi. I just flashed my L720 (Sprint, using Ting) to software/baseband version L720VPUGOH1. I am pretty good at what I am good at as far as these phones go - no expert by any means. I just want to make sure I have everything in proper order and am running the right kernel, etc. to go along with the firmware. I tried CM12.1 and other roms, but just never got data, messaging, and other things to work just right. Now I am back to "stock", rooted, Philz recovery, Greenify, and App Quarantine.
My other info is below. Does it look ok, or should I be running something different kernel wise? Just looking for a smooth performance with decent battery. I don't leave my data or wifi on all the time - just when I want to use it.
I am not asking which kernel or tool is the best. I just want to make sure I am using things that match up and work well together.
Kernel version is 3.4.0-4745659

All this tells me it's that you're running stock OH1, I'm not sure what could be wrong but I don't see anything. The only Kernel that I know of that you could use is the Aurora Kernel I ported for Wicked X.

Thank you. I'm not saying anything is wrong. I have noticed the battery drains faster than the previous version of stock (OD2), but I was mainly concerned that flashing back and forth from rom to rom I may have not put things back in proper order. I don't know - I guess I worry too much. Thanks for the info - I may check out that kernel to see if battery life improves.

I only went back to stock because I couldn't work out finding a rom that had proper working data and mms for my service. I use Ting.

Thank you very much faux, nice to see you here on the Find5 forums, you are one of the best hands down! I have used your kernels in just about every device I own, and have purchased your apps, they are great.
Any plans in the future to do a 4.2.x kernel for us users who use custom roms?
5 stars for faux!!!
Edit Flashed Kernel - Everything is working fine on my device, no issues at all. Just to remind some people that may not know this kernel will not show the best synthetic benchmarks results but its a performer! It will perform just as good as any kernel that benches really high in benchmarking, so if your scores are not crazy high, don't worry, go read about why this is. Faux has a complete read up on why this is, the main thing is that your device will run smooth all around and you will get better battery life along with great performance. Just because you don't get 25000 when running an antutu or any other benchmarking test does not mean anything when it comes to this kernel, from my experience, its all about user performance with faux's kernel. Thats my experience anyways.
Thanks again faux!!!

For some reason it wont let me rate this thread, I don't understand why? But it deserves 5 stars I really like your kernels faux, I use them on my devices that you support and bought all your apps. I just hope that someday I will get to fully use your kernel on my Find5 with Custom Roms :fingers-crossed:

Coming very soon, to the Nexus 6 original development threads(a day or two). Theres a version for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7(2012). And now, its here for the Nexus 6 as well. Rastapop..
edit.. rom up!
ok, i need testers!
if you are on stock, wipe data. if you are on an aosp rom, you can try dirty flashing. do not wipe internal storage. if you boot without a radio, reflash. i get a fc st bootup even stops right after boot, and when i open settings it theres a fc, then stops.

The way AOSP is set up, it uses the same alphabet order when there are incremental builds. O comes before V, etc. V being the latest I believe.

Duh, I had a brain fart. Built from aosp. Was thinking my Samsung ways and taking a ROM and hacking it apart, not building from source.
Thanks guys

It's a shame OnePlus and Cyanogen part ways, although Cyanogen seems to be the bad guy.. These guy originated from the custom rom community didn't they? When money enters the game...
The proposed Lollipop rom seems mostly vanilla 5.0 (and not 5.0.2), let's hope it's stable and OnePlus doesn't go the Oppo way...
nobody needs cm anyway.
Any new radio or firmware?
I'm sure some will dissect to find out.
To anyone thinking about flashing it
I flashed it and get no data and wont connect to wifi. Also the fastboot has been changed and is chinese now. So for me at least I am unable to use it at all on the 64gb international. Think im gonna push my recovery back onto the phone and go back to CM11s.
Edit: Manually put in APN's for ATT LTE and getting 4g icon but no LTE icon, didnt get GApps installed so dont have speedtest installed to verify speed. Still unable to get Wifi to work. however though which is a must for me.
Gigantic piece of crap ROM. You guys say no one needs CM but ask those lame developers from Oneplus where they got their build tree. They are building Cyanogen almost stock stripping out many features, and worst, the crappy rom messes up twrp and fastboot.
If Cyanogen stops providing support for the OPO the device will turn into crap.

This appears to be a pure aosp build using caf code.
The features aren't stripped out, it's aosp. Is how it comes, bear boned to be built upon.

Hey,
I've got rom stock on my s3.
The phone is slow and very short battery life.
Should i install cyanogenmod 12 - as shown here: http://www.naldotech.com/cyanogenmod-12-rom-5-0-lollipop-for-samsung-galaxy-s3/
or stable cyanogenmod ?
or just stay with the rom version i've got on my phone.
Pls advice
tnx
anyone?
Samsung based ROMs have better:
+Camera
+Stability
+Battery
AOSP based ROMs have better:
-Customization
-Performance
I recommend ArchiDroid ROMs
but in s3 samsung rom is only 4.3 with CyanogenMod i can get 5.0

Install CM12 weekly as suggested previously. Customize the governor and undervolt for great performance and battery life. Install CameraFV-5 and Cinema FV-5 for awesome camera quality. Much better than the samsung rooms.:good:
I too recommend custom ROM with android 5.0.2, its much better then stock ROM in almost everything
hello,
i haven't flashed my s3 since 4.3 .. which means ages ago. since 4.4.4 came out i wanted to flash it again, but there were no stable working running roms yet.
now after a while it seems that there's even 5.05 for my s3?
if so, where can i get infos and which rom should i get?? .. or should i stick to 4.4.4 kitkat?
oh and, if i flash a new rom, will it wipe everything? i forgot all that.
will i lose whatsapp database and all that?

You're on a forum with dozens of threads for dozens of roms. What more do you want???! ;/
Mind
I think stock is obsoleted and running slow. Thus I use Cyanogenmod 12. My s3 run smooth and customized. Combo with Boeffla kernel for optimized performance and daily use.
Good day,
It's just that I am new to rooting - I just successfully rooted my phone a while ago, and I was wondering, if I installed Custom ROMS, will I somewhat lose some functionality of the S3?
I have this "turn off when the phone is put on the ear while calling" feature, Smart Stay, Turn upside down to turn off sounds, etc.
If I install the S5 Sensation ROM, will I get to use these features? If I install AOSP ROMS, will these ROMs have the exact equivalent?
Thank you very much!
If your don't like Stock 4.3 ROMs, you can install CM11 stable, it's fast and stable.
I use Cyanogenmod 12.1 by JustArchi and Moster2. It is excellent, fast, reliable. The only problem I couldn't solve yet is that MMS don't work (send and receive).

How about you state the parts that you don't understand rather than asking someone to write a step by step guide. The instructions aren't that complicated, and I'm sure if I can explain the parts that are confusing you, you can figure the rest out.

Ok, fair enough. The first thing I saw in the instructions was to make sure I was to make sure I was 100% stock and boot. I don't think I am but don't know how to tell.
But even before that, I saw that: "Older Samsung devices generally (6.0+): sepolicy issues, should be fixed in v7"
So I think I'll wait until v7 is out before I try anything.

Make a nandroid backup (because you should always have a recent one when modifying your phone) then Odin stock tar from www.sammobile.com, then you are 100% stock... easy peasy.
I think I can do that.
But since the Magisk instructions says, "Older Samsung devices generally (6.0+): sepolicy issues, should be fixed in v7" will this even work with a Galaxy S4?
