Has anyone had success importing photos to the Nexus 6P directly from a DSLR camera?
I have a Nikon D7000, OTG Type-C USB cable and a standard USB mini cable.
Everything physically connects fine, and when I power-on the Nikon, the Google Photos app starts immediately with a "Camera Importer" title bar at the top of the screen. Then within a few seconds, it crashes with a "Unfortunately Photos has stopped" message.
Should this work? It seems like it is close.
I did very briefly once see a message about "MTP" but it flashed so quickly, I couldn't see all of it. I believe that is referring to the Media Transfer Protocol.
Any help would be appreciated.
So the camera is the host of the files inside the memory card? Have you tried putting the files in a card reader and connecting via OTG? I've only connected once via OTG and plugged in a flash drive, but didn't actually browse any of the files.

Hey!
I have an USB motion sensor that I am trying to connect with my phone. I have made an simple APP that connects and enumerates USB devices, but for some reason I cant get this sensor connected. If I connect USB keyboards, mice, headsets, flash drives... everything else shows up perfectly, just not this sensor.
Im on a HTC One. I have an OTG cable, an powered usb hub, external power for the sensor and have even rooted my phone.
With an app called "USB Device Info" (../store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.usbDeviceEnumerator&hl=en), which shows connected devices under 2 tabs, "Android" and "Linux" (under Linux tab there are devices parsed from /sys/bus/usb/devices/), the sensor shows up. Under "Android", nothing.
But I have no idea what to do next. I need to be able to send commands to the sensor and read the answers. Need help
i just ordered a OTG able with usb power (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXAC1ZW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). is it possible to connect my dslr to one, portable drive to the other plug and use my nexus 7 to transfer files from the camera to the drive or would i have to copy them from the camera to the nexus and then the drive. if it works for the camera, woul dit work for a camcorder where the files are significantly larger?
6P via OTG cable "sees" my Sony nex-6 and GoPro cameras, but not the files on the mem
Traveling abroad at the moment and I unfortunately forgot my travel router at home which I use for backing up photos from the camera SD cards to an external drive.
I have a USB OTG cable with me for my 6p (and 2013 N7) and when I plug in my GoPro or Sony nex-6 via USB to the OTG cable, I am prompted for what I want to do with the connected device on my screen. When selecting photo importer or ES file explorer, the device thinks for a moment and then "sees" the storage of the cameras SD card, but when clicking on the card it fails and does not see any of the files. Any thoughts or something I am missing in this process? The phone (or tablet) can see the card(s) but nothing on them.

I am wondering whether anyone has connected a USB 3.0 hub to the Axon 7.
The reason I ask is that I am going on a trip soon and want to back up my camera SD card each day to a USB stick. I don't want to take a laptop. What I'd like to do is connect a USB card reader / hub to the phone to copy files from the SD card to the USB stick at USB 3 speeds. Devices like the Ravpower wd03 only do usb 2, which will take ages per file.
Will this work? Will I need a USB 3 otg?

Update - USB Hub Works - but.....
OK, so I took the plunge and bought an Aukey USB C to USB 3 adaptor and a USB hub - one of these. I did it that was as I don't have other USB C devices.
The USB hub works fine with USB memory sticks. Each time i insert it registers a new USB OTG drive and I can happily copy to and from it (and more than one
But every time I insert an SD card into the SD reader, the Axon 7 gives me an error "Unsupported USB Drive: This device doesn't support thus USB drive. Touch to set up in a supported format". When I try to format the card, it fails.
Any ideas?
Update 2
I should add that:
1. The same problem occurs even if I use the MicroSD card I use in the phone - so it is not a formatting issue.
2. I also have a Note 5. If I connect the USB hub to that via a USB OTG, the Note 5 can happily read the SD Card.
3. The SD slot USB Hub works fine when when plugged into a PC.
Do I need an additional USB OTG? Will that conflict with the phone?
Update 3!!!
This is getting ridiculous but I want it to work.
So I tried plugging a SD Card reader into the USB hub. Lo and behold it works!!!! I wonder whether the issue is just that the SD card reader in the hub is missing something which allows the Axon to read the SD card.
That was only USB 2 - I am going to invest in a USB 3 SD card reader (my camera produces large files!) So I am going to invest in a small USB card reader and will report back.
Update 4
So the card reader has arrived as has my USB 3 stick. Now I can copy all the files from the SD Card to the USB Stick.
The only issue is that Dropbox scans the cards and starts trying to upload them as Camera uploads so I've had to kill the process.
The other issue is that my file manager (File Manager HD) doesn;t allow copying and I have to use the System file Manager, which is awful. Am going to work on that process over the weekend. Any suggestions gratefully received on that front!!!
Rubbish. Rubbish. Rubbish
The connection just isn't stable enough. The phone keeps saying that the card(s) keeping g being disconnected / removed. There is nothing wrong with the hub or either the USB stick or the sync card / card reader.
Last chance - I will add a power supply to the USB hub. If that doesn't work I'm afraid my views will be confirmed - this is a great phone with a great DAC but other than that it is just a bit rubbish and cheap for a reason, with a manufacturer which doesn't want to develop for it. I'm the EU least.

I have a LG G6 H873 and I'm trying to use an OTG adapter to read an SD card (Kodlix Type-C Reader) and I'm not getting any prompts for a USB device being detected (and the LED doesn't light up on the adapter).
I've tried the same adapter on my wife's LG G5 and it works fine (both os are at the same revision). I've also tried the "OTG Troubleshooter" app which seems to detect that a OTG device is plugged in. Plugging a USB cable from my PC to this device works fine and I can browse the files on my phone from the PC.
Any ideas?
Same here. OTG worked fine. Then one day stopped working.
My phone recognizes all my files in file folder but stock gallery and music app showes no pics or songs. When i flashed oreo update my sd card worked fine.on boot up it would show media scanning and then show a little sd card icon in the notifications but after 2 days my phone does not scan anymore. Is this related to your problem?
I have a G6 h870ds. After loads of mucking about I have discovered that my OTG only works with full USB3 OTG adapters and USB3 memory sticks.
I cant use USB2 wired OTG adapters or USB2 memory sticks. Initial connection of the USB2 OTG adapter is recognized but no connected devices are detected. I have a USB2 memory stick with an LED on it. When it is first connected to the OTG cable it flashes in a way that leads me to think it is trying to reply to the USB bus interrogation but something (probably software) fails. The phone connects to my usb2 PC port just fine so I don't think the hardware is at fault. I've reset the phone but alas that didn't help!
No issues whatsoever if I plug in the OTG adapter first, then the drive. No matter if USB 1, 2 or 3 memory stick.
