LED notification light for charging? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, quick question. I've had my 6p for a while and running cataclysm since day 1 so I don't remember about this. But, does the LED light stay lit when charging on a stock 6p? My brother just got his in today and it's dark so I'm just curious if it's an issue or that's just how it is stock. If it's normal I'm gonna have him use lightflow to activate so that's not a problem.

Nope, the notification LED does not light while charging. It only lights for notifications.

As sildar stated, by default it won't light up but you can use app's like lightflow to do so, should you want it to light up

You can also use Daydream. I like seeing the analog clock while the device is charging. I know, doesn't resolve your LED question but perhaps a useful alternative.

Notification light issue

Hello everyone,
Got a Bell Atrix 4G, unlocked it and I am using on Rogers network. So far, it is working well.
I am having a problem setting Notification Light. I tried the built in notification light under Settings and a few different notification light apps from market. I used to get a green light for email before but I don't get it anymore after playing with other free apps. I just can't figure this out. I put my phone on vibration mode at work so I would love to have notification lights working.
What I need is different lights for Missed calls, Email, SMS. Has anyone dealt with this issue?
Any help will be much appreciated and thank you!
I use the app light flow for that. Gives me total control over the LED. I have different colors flash for different notifications.
I use Light Flow https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
and it handles a ton of apps and uses a TON of color combinations.
Worth the $1.
haha, i was going to start this topic today. I use blue for my Trillian notifications, Purple for yahoo mails.
will try the light app suggested above.
Thanks!
Thank you guys! Yes, "Light Flow" makes it work. Please ensure you turn on "Setting > Display > Notification LED".
Light Flow does not work correctly on the ATRIX AT ALL. I had low battery warnings going off when the battery was fully charged, no charge LED ON option, no charging LED, only discharging WTF?

[Q] Is it possible to use the green charging light by the USB for notifications?

Hi all.
When you charge your Flipout, a green light stays on by the MicroUSB port letting you know the phone is charging.
Is there a way to make this green light the notification light?
The default white notification lights on the front of the phone are kind of difficult to see.
I find myself sometimes squinting at the phone trying to determine if it's blinking or not. Obviously if you're in a dark room or something this won't be an issue but in a normal lit environment is where I spend most of my time.
If there is no way to make the green light act as a notification light, perhaps you can have the screen itself light up a few times.
Is anything like this possible or am I out of luck?
Thanks.

Green LED light staying on... can't figure out why

I (of course) do not have root, but I am running light flow. It seems to be working fine, the LEDs that should go on are working and in the proper colors.
I have unchecked all the LED notifications under settings.
However, when I turn my phone off, the green LED light goes on immediately. It is not plugged in, and it's down to around 92% battery or so.
I even tried disabling all charging/battery related LEDs but still the green LED is on.
Anyone else having this? Any thoughts?
Light Flow is known to cause problems on the S3.

And I was wanting to download and use that.
Yes, I see after further testing that uninstalling light flow fixes the issue. Dangit, it appears light flow is far and away the best LED app. I put a note in feedback about it, hopefully the dev will be able to solve it. I'll try it again once we have root for the US version.
Any know if the light flow creator is working on this?
It's listed in the known issues on the developer's site, so I assume they are working on it:
hxxp://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/1931
it has something to do with interactions with the built in notifications.. if you disable them then light flo doesnt work.. if you turn them on then whenever the phone goes to sleep a green light comes on.. bummer
i used the LED color tester app and all the LEDs colors are off from what the previous commands were, i guess... so its going to be a while until the led programs work properly

[Q] Note 3 LED Notification

Hi there,
I have SM-N900. I just installed Light Flow LED for the LED notifications.
Q: Is it harmful to set the app to blink the LED in the fastest mode with 100% LED brightness ???
Q: How much battery will be drained for this settings?
Thanks
but what is this application if the notification LED 'already in the system?
I don't like third party apps, but the major problem I have is the non customizable blinkers. I want the LED light to blink fast for the notifications
I installed light flow as it has a feature to blink led when the screen is on but that didn't worked. @asus_boy it does effects the battery life.

There is no harm in letting the LED work. I've been using Light Manager ever since it supported Note 3 and nothing have happened and won't. A LED is a pretty solid kind of hardware, it really takes a lot for it to break. The only thing I can imagine to break it is if you make it even brighter than it's supposed to be, and you can't do that with Light Manager. So, as long as you don't crank up the voltage you're fine.
Hope it answered your question.

A: Same as any light source, Increasing the Brightness and Increasing the time it is on, Will wear out the LED, Will you see the effects, Possibly not! LED has about 10 years life span (EASY) with around 30,000 - 100,000 hour depending on the LED type.
So to answer your question in Short - Yes it will cause harm in the long run, But nothing you may ever notice in the period you have the phone.
Q: How much battery will be drained for this settings?
A: I could honestly not tell you, Depending on the number of notifications, the time the LED is on for etc.
Will all add the possible lifespan of the battery before a charge.
I use the same application, and i have done since day 1 owing , I can easily get a full day out of my device, Heavy usage. Lots of notifications, Lots of game play, Display time and heavy CPU Usage.
Personally i think you will be okay
Thank you very much for your kind replies.
Thanks
LED color ?
i set the LED color to yellow with Light Flow LED, but the light is not as bright as when it was on red or green. does anyone experience the same thing? (sorry for my bad english)
I think it's LED color mixture wrong try pink and purple they look same

Any way to dim the notification LED?

Via software?
I've changed mine to green while charging and red when charged as red is the least annoying in the dark but I'd prefer a better dim-able solution if one exists?

if you like you can think about purchasing the full version
Cheers, I'll give that a shot and see if it works
Nope, doesn't work. The App has a setting for adjusting the LED brightness but it has no effect on the one in my phone. Tried rooted mode and unrooted.
