One morning when I woke up my N9005 was stuck in the boot animation. I waited a while but I had to hold the power button in to force a power off. Since then I have had no 4G at all. 4G was working before this. Can anyone suggest anything that might re-enable 4G?

It's nothing to do with my operator. I have tried two different SIMs from two different operators that both worked with 4G before. I own the phone, it came from eBay but as I said it was doing 4G before.

I'm not sure why "Available CSC Codes" is blank.
Could that be part of the problem?

I already did that. At least I think I did it right. Afterwards it started up exactly as usual. There was no extra optimising apps like after an upgrade. I used Odin. Do you think I did it right? I also tried a factory reset. Still no 4G.

I can't help anyhow but what I do if I loose LTE connection I force it back with 4G Switcher app. You choose LTE only and it should connect (though I can't call or receive calls in LTE only mode) so what I do is when LTE conects I swap mode to LTE/Gsm auto and LTE stays as long as I'm on LTE area (until I somehow loose LTE again in area where LTE is available). Try that out maybe it will drive you to some new conclusions what the issue may be.

Do you mean this one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tapbase.LTEswitcher
It says it's incompatible with my device!
Also it sounds like you had the situation where you lose the ability to select "LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" and can only select "WCDMS/GSM (auto connect)". I have not lost the ability to select "LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)".

1- Yes, that's the one
2- It works on my Note 3
3- As to your assumption...well I'm not sure what you talk about. I'll explain my issue. Sometimes when I'm on LTE available area my phone connects to HDSPA+. Then I do what I described (I choose LTE on this app to force connect via LTE). I don't know do I loose "ability to select "LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" as you said. To be specific what are you reffering with it to? To phone settings or to this app setiings? All I can choose on phone settings is 2g,3g and 4g. There's no X/Y auto connect. This option is in apps settings though and I don't really care what I loose there as long as it works when I want to force LTE with it. I'm courius why it's not compatible with your device. What phone do you have?
All in all in the end use of this app won't solve your issue permanently but with it you could make sure LTE receiver and LTE drivers on your phone system works. Then you could dig down further. You would just know that LTE works at all on your phone.

"LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" is a setting on my phone. See my Screenshot_A.png above. It tells the phone to automatically switch between LTE (4G), WCDMA (3G) and GSM (2G). The other choices don't include 4G. I reach it by Settings / Connections / More networks / Mobile networks / Network mode.
Is you phone rooted? Mine isn't. Could that be why the app doesn't like my phone?
Further info: apparently the phone was originally Portuguese but has been flashed with UK BTU firmware. However as I said before it definitely did do 4G when I first got it. Samsung tried to tell me there was some kind of update that might has disabled 4G in the UK for this device. Sounds like a made up excuse to me.

I think so. Isn't the info in my screenshots of Samsung Phone Info Plus (in a post a further up the thread) enough to confirm?
If not could you guide me how I can check. Thanks.
I compared it to uk firmware on sammobile.com and it seems to match. Maybe you need to flash the entire uk firmware again in Odin?
Still same. I've taken it to a Samsung service centre now.

It's back, and it's working fine now. And, nice surprise, it was apparently just inside it's guarantee period so I didn't have to pay.
I'm not sure what they did but it's back on Portuguese firmware, which doesn't seem to matter, I just select English (UK) after factory reset and all is well.
Oddly the WiFi adapter has a new MAC address but the magnetic field sensor must be the original one since it's calibration is way off exactly as it was originally. (You have to calibrate it after every reboot by rotating the device in three axis if you want compass functions to work).

First off I've tried searching for a similar topic and couldn't find anything.
So here's my issue. I updated my SGS which I bought from a local O2 store here. Checked that is was indeed unlocked and went ahead to follow the instructions that can be seen here in the forums.
After installation, the language was set to an Eastern European locale, which conveniently was easy to change back to English.
I could not connect to any network, so did all the app installations via WiFi. It wasn't until early this morning when going to work that I noticed that I didn't have any DATA going through.
Checking on the settings, I now have the option to connect to CDMA networks, instead of the option to disable 3G (Only connect to 2G networks).
What do I do to get that option back?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
You need to manually install your phone network details or AP (Access Point) details.
Firstly check you have any details entered.
Settings > Wireles and network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
If you don't have any details in here then you need to find the information and put them manually in.
Other then this you can check your Network Mode the next entry below Access Point Names and select the mode you wish.
Mine is GSM/WCDMA auto.
Wish you luck with it.
That's the thing, there are APN's on there and all. It's just that the setting for 3G had now changed to CDMA. Is there a way to just flash the specific CSC and not affect the PDA & PHONE?

PDA must always be flashed. THe other two you can add if required.
WCDMA is the same thing just make the selection you want. No need to flash a different CSC. I'm using JM1 at present and it's WCDMA as it's from Europe but it doesn't effect the phones capability. It's just a name.
Thanks for the reply. So what you're saying is, even if it is saying WCDMA, it WILL connect to HSDPA? Flashing my phone now back to JM5. All other FW's I've tried just show WCDMA instead of 3G.
Eventually settled for JFF and 2G option is back. Now I have the problem of the APN's working. Off to weed through these forums again.
Different question, same problem unresolved. So my original problem is that I seem to have lost all data connectivity (apart from WiFi) after the very first FLASH. OH well. Thanks for your assistance Ancient_One.
WCDMA is not CDMA. It might be confusing a bit, but it's actually two different things. WCDMA is basically just another name for 3G.
(Well, it's a bit more complicated than that, but for the sake of simplicity, let's just leave it at that.)
Yes, WCDMA is 3G. It's not CDMA as used by Verizon and Sprint in the US (they just share some of the radio-level technology).
Thanks for clarifying the bits regarding WCDMA. My how things have changed. Anyway, I'm going back to JM5 and am hoping to get internet up and running. It is so annoying to not have everything working as they should, even after the APN's been added and all.
Much appreciated guys.

So you have LTE mode selected in settings, but it still doesn't go past H+, and you're sure you're in a 4G area?
Firmwares and secret codes aren't going to solve this.
Your provider likely uses a different frequency than the phone supports.
You could simply look up your provider frequencies and check them against the phone specs. If they don't match, game over.

The LTE frequencies for the N9005 are 800/850/900/1800/2100/2600.
T-Mobile US uses 700/1700/1900/(2100)
The 2100 overlaps, but unfortunately T-Mobile US only uses it as a support network. Meaning it's not active by default. 1900Mhz is the main network.

Wait a moment is your SIM is LTE/4G supported?
Some providers only allow you to connect to the 4G, if you have such contract. For example, I am customer of Tele2 in Estonia and I can not use 4G either, because I currently have such contract, which only permits me to use speeds upto HSPA+.

Hi,
did anyone using Umi Super have any problems with using 4G at 800MHz? Im on giffgaff and even though Umi Super is supposed to work at 4G under 800MHz (thats what the specification states) i cant manage to make it work. I have perfect 4G coverage, 4G sim, 4G tariff, even gave my sim to a friend with S7 edge and it worked on his phone. Maybe new update will fix that? I tried with different sim from different operator (LYCA) and it works but 4G in LYCA is at 2100MHz so I didnt really check the 800. I tried everything and still nothing. Did anyone have similar problem?
I actually bought 2 phones of the same model so I decided to check if 4G worked on the other one and as I put the sim card in I just remembered something and realized same thing happened with my phone. When I put the SIM card in for the first time it DID automatically go to 4G, ok, when I looked for available networks it found O2 4G, granted BUT!!! when i got to "preferred network type" there is only 3G to pick, and THE MOMENT I PICK IT there is not possible to go back. Every network I find from that moment is only 2G or 3G. Now i reckon that a software problem right? See attachments
It is a software bug and I think I sort it out after flashing the phone. For now I sorted out the problem using Networks app by Philipp Mangalov and switching network to LTE/GSM auto
Well it seems the data part of the UMI SUPER is not so super, is it? I face a similar problem but worse. The 4G band of 800 doesn't work(despite being advertized by UMI as supported) but luckily the band of 2100 works without any issues. The problem comes when I'm out of 2100 band coverage and phone must switch to 3G - then I lose all data connectivity completely. So basically whenever I'm out of 4G 2100 coverage(which is often) I am without any connectivity! Anyone facing the same? Solution?

I don't have this issue at all. My UMi Super connects perfectly to my 4g network under 800MHz without an issue here in Uganda. You can install the MTK Engineering app from the play store and check the band compatibility on ur device and you can also set the mode using the same app under android settings.
You could also try updating to the latest OTA which is 20160810 or the one before it by downloading the files from forum post here and saving them to ur phone and updating manually if you don't have the current OTA

All that's needed is GiffGaff settings inputing manually. Very easy to do. O2 settings that the phone recognises when a GiffGaff sim is used WILL NOT WORK. The Network is O2 but the APN settings for GiffGaff are totally different.
All you guys that think you know what you're doing obviously don't.
No need to Root or use GravityBox or any other App.

Well said. I just shake my head in despair when I see how totally clueless people try to be teachers and Internet gurus with very limited knowledge about the task at hand. These comments should come with warning stickers.
For those who want to be able to switch between 3G/4G and LTE only, use this nifty little APK that I've attached below. It will allow you to enter engineer mode without using the dial code.
Hi
This is a bug implemented in Android 7.0.
I had the same.
1 Just force in your parameters 2G/3G networks
2 wait for network authentification (no more excalamtion mark)
3 go back to 4G
Every thing will be OK to next switch off or plane mode.
Rgds,
LTE band 7 (2600) not working
I recently received my new Umi Super and updated to the last firmware V7.01_20170413, everything works fine except for the 4G. I live in an area where band 7 (2600) is available but the phone can't connect to it. Of course, my preferred network type is set to 4G/3G/2G (auto).
I read a lot about the issue on the internet but I can't find a solution.
I checked the BandMode on the phone by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*, band 7 is included and checked. However, when I tried to remove the other LTE bands and keep only band 7, I got a message explaining that the list can't be empty ("Failed. The band is changed from not null to null, it is illegal"), though the list was not completely empty because band 7 was still selected.
Also, I tried to change the radio band by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, but process com.android.phone stopped working when I pressed "select radio band", even after I cleared cache in phone and sim apps.
Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem and get connected to 4G.
BTW, Network by Philipp Mangelow is not available anymore. Switching between 3G/2G and 4G/3G/2G settings doesn't fix the issue. I tried the giffgaff settings, but the APN gets deleted as soon as I try to save it.
Thanks

You may try to force 3G and then try to force 4G
You may try to user another IMEI number from a UMI device with 2600 support (of course backup/write down the original one before just in case)
http://www.ucc.co.ug/data/imei/2
After the update to Nougat 7.x how long does it take to do a full recharge?
Do you still have fast charge feature (< 1 hour) or do you lost it like all users reported so far?
What about your GPS? Do you have a fast fix after cleaning history and is it reliable (not losing signal often?).

Is it safe to change the IMEI number? and where can I find another number for a UMI device?
GPS is working fine, it fixes pretty fast, but I'm not sure about interruption in the signal because I haven't used it enough yet
I'm new in this forum, but I recently bought a Moto X Pure edition and everything is great except for the simple task of recive calls, I have tried everything that comes to my mind eaven make a hard reset, but I can't get the cel take a call, are sended right to the voicemail the only "solution" is work with 3G but the internet speed is too slow.
There is a way to fix it or should I think about change the phone?

Check your APN settings and ensure they Match to what your provider says.

APN has nothing to do with voice calls, or SMS...
@RodoRock1 What carrier/SIM, model, and region?

That is the correct behavior... if you dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to Phone info and scroll down, is your "Set preferred network type" set to "LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)"?

Reboot into Safe Mode and try it... Press the power button until the Power Offn button appears, then long press the Power Off button and in the "Reboot to safe mode" screen, select OK. Once it is rebooted into safe mode, test again.
Are you stock, rooted, or running a custom rom?

Hmm... Odd... I haven't heard of this issue on the X. Any chance of trying with another SIM, say borrow one from a friend long enough to test, or getting a replacement?
Otherwise, factory reset and test again.

I already done that the factory reset do not work, and if I change the sim to my old celphone (moto X 1) works perfecto, when I use a sim fom Telcel ( another service provider) the phone works normal, its weird because should be the same Ting, the only diference that I see is that the signal bar change from LTE to 4G (I touthg that was the same) with the Telcel provider.

The Style will show 4G instead of LTE... It's normal I believe. You can verify with LTE Discovery or Network Signal Info app, but I don't think it's relevant. Sorry, but I'm running out of ideas.
What version Android, firmware, and radios (Build number and baseband info)?

I think that there is all the information that you ask if not, let me know. And thank you So much for your time
I ran into a problem where I couldn't connect to the voice network but data worked, and I discovered that I had accidentally flashed the US modem firmware when I changed ROMs. This probably isn't the case here, as its fully stock, but I think it's worth mentioning. Go to Settings->About Phone->Status->SIM Status and make sure that both voice and data are labeled "In Service".
Ok might need expansion of problem explanation, but here's the deal.....
If getting LTE on and off call, that's true LTE your carrier is supporting.
If getting LTE when not on call and H+ while on a call, then your carrier does not have VoLTE enabled and this is normal. H+ should be plenty fast.
However, if you are getting LTE while not on call but 3G/UMTS/CDMA1900/EVDO/edge/etc(2-3g), then the same rule as above applies, only difference this time is the tower you're connected to does not support H+ or your phone does not support your carrier's H+ frequency.
Who is your carrier?
Hi All,
I bought this LG G6 (G600K) from HK a month ago. It was working perfectly until few days ago when the LTE stopped working. In the notification bar I can see LTE, but there is no data going through. E.g.: messenger shows "Connecting...". Basically no 4G internet any more. So I did my research and these are my findings:
If there is no LTE coverage, the phone switches to 3g and it works - so the problem is only with LTE, but LTE is everywhere nowdays
In this Korea Telecom ROM there is no way to configure to only use 3g (CDMA only), not even in hidden menu - this could be a remedy, but would not solve the issue
Wifi also works
I did Factory Reset twice (also Network settings reset), did not help
I waited for an update from KT, maybe contains a fix, but did not help
I went to my operator (TELENOR Hungary), and they have checked my subscription, and they said everything is ok, but they can see that my phone does not connect to the LTE system.
I tried my SIM in an other phone, and LTE works perfectly
So based on these facts, I can't think of other than the phone has a hardware issue. Do you have any idea how can I investigate further?
Thanks for any suggestion.

Have you made sure data roaming is turned on as you have Korean model, I had to enable data roaming to get mobile data as the device thinks that's exactly what it's doing.

Did you fix the problem yet?? I also have same situation like you.........
Hi, sorry to hear. I could not solve yet. I went to the 3rd line support of the operator, but they say everything is fine from their side. So I'm waiting for a custom ROM, or I will change my operator. If you can, send back your phone.

Well i just found temporary fix for grayed out data roaming..this method worked to me
download quickshortcutmaker from playstore open app and switch to normal search find roaming click on roaming - global roaming - create... you can enable data roaming from there..
And for manual network switch LTE /3G : quickshortcutmaker - normal view - network -networksettings global
Hope that helps
Sorry for my bad English..
Wow, thanks. This is working as a remedy. You are the hero of the day

Google Search : how to fix 3g/4g high on android
