Oneplus 2 random freezing and restarting - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my op2 randomly freezing and reboots itself.
I tried diffrent roms and I used even safe mod , again again I am taking random reboot,
Anyone know how can I solve this problem?

Do you get reboots when you've done a factory restore without restoring any of the installed apps or restoring app data using Titanium Backup or some other backup software? I've experienced reboots when I did a restore of some app data using Titanium and I solved it by doing factory restore and not restoring any data starting from scratch.

Yeah still happening.

I am on stock 2.2 but also have random freezing (not reboots).
After freeze there is no way to revive it other than reboot. Mostly happens in chrome.
Also some times phone didn't wake up looks like it goes in to deep sleep so i have to restart it. These things only starts happening after 2.2 update.

Same here, Sleep of death sort of stuff.
Or what looked like app lockups.
In any event I seemed to have resolved it by upping the min CPU 1 tick.
Where I was rebooting my phone several times a day for a short period now do it every other day or so preventativly.

Exactly the same here on the last Oxygen OS stock update. Also phone is laggy.

Now i notice that if i use my phone for a week without a restart then it gradually becomes slow and laggy(apps opening slowly, unlocking become slow) and randomly locks up for a few seconds. After that if i continue using then a time comes when phone completely froze and i hv to restart it.

This is exactly how my phone acts. Did you find a solution, or is it still just part of the OS update?

Nah didn't found any solution, its because of 2.2 update and still persist in 2.2.1, many other people also having this problem.
Waiting for android m update.
Hoping for good.?

Does it also occur on custom roms?

Non-rooted Vibrant random restart?

It seems to happen after the phone has been on for an extended amount of time. I don't have lag, and I'm not using the gps when it happens. In fact, it usually happens when I sleep. Has anyone else experienced this? My phone is not modified. I'm even running plain touch whiz. I'm considering returning if I can't resolve with a hard reset. No third party apps are running when this occurs. I routinely close processes before I stop using the phone. I love this phone, I'm just worried I have a bad unit.
i'm having a similar issue, but with a rooted vibrant. the problem has spanned across two different handsets. the first one i rooted almost out of the box. but after a few days it started locking up after sitting for a while and i would have to pull the battery to get it to come back on. so i returned it, got a new one and held off rooting it to see if this one would do the same thing. the non rooted one had no problems at all, so i bit the bullet and rooted this one too, and sure enough later that same day it started doing the same freezes when trying to unlock it.
as soon as i rooted the second phone i downloaded rom manager and made a nandroid backup. after the backup i proceeded to remove some of the bloat, like dual clock, the startup/shutdown sounds, and some of the other crap that the vibrant comes with. i also installed and started up setcpu. it seemed that after i did all of this is when the freezes started up again. so i did a restore to before i removed all that stuff and now the phone is fine again. what is it about my process that is making this phone lock up like this?
EDIT: nevermind...i found some other people with the same problem in a setcpu thread...seems setting the sleep profile too low will cause the phone to not wake up after sitting too long
Uh, I'm not getting any freezing, but I know there is an issue with SetCPU. A certain setting will causes problems on the Vibrant. My issue is just unexpected reboots after the phone has been on for approximately 170 hours.
I had many random restarts and general craziness from my non rooted stock vibrant. A factory restore fixed all problems.

Yeah, if it happens again I'm going to try a factory reset.

Droid X lockup / freeze

My wife has a completely stock Droid X and she always has the weirdest issues with her phone with it locking up, freezing or hanging up..
Sometimes the phone recovers, other times it needs to be rebooted manually.
Is this a known issue with this phone?? I have the HTC incredible and have no issues like this.
I havent had a problem or heard of this. Is she under warranty and get it swapped out? If not has she tried to do a wipe/factory reset? While off hold the power and menu key at the same time. A screen will come up. press the search button. Use the volume keys to scroll up and down. Go to wipe/factory reset and press the camera button.
My wife has a stock D2, and it sometimes likes to open up the voice search, or she will be typing a text message, and the g key will open the browser to google.com, or just randomly freeze up..... Maybe women have a different body chemistry that acts like a mini EMP that just destroys all electronics.... Everything electronic she has ever owned has major problems, yet mine last years........
Droid X freezing - having to battery pull.
I've been having similar issues with my Droid X. It will randomly, and often, lock up for a while, then come back to life usually. It's really annoying if your browsing the web and all the sudden the phone freezes for 20-30 seconds.
When it freezes completely, it will just freeze and the screen will remain on. I have to then pull off my protective cover and battery pull to reboot.
Battery pulls happen about once every 2-3 days. Freezes that recover are happening 5 or 6 times a day if not more.
The brief time I had the phone on stock, the issue was occuring. I ignored it and figured surely this won't happen after I root it. I'm now running latest Liberty ROM and it's still happening. Problem definately gets worse if I overclock. I'm wondering if the CPU can't even handle 1000 Mhz and needs to be underclocked just so this thing can run stable.
I'm going to test that out and see if the weird freezing and force closes go away. But it will suck loosing speed.
I unfortunately can't return my phone as I bought it used on Craigslist.

Its likely due to the fact that the stock Droid x firmware sucks a load of ass. The factory blur is perhaps the biggest waste of time I've ever seen. I've had both my dinc and fascinate and x since launch day and the only remedy I've found to stop the x from doing this is flash livery. Only way to fix it at all.

Yeah man sounds like you have a bad device. If a data wipe/reset wont do it you must have a have bad device . Go back where you got it and ask for an exchange

Before reading all of this....note that this is just me providing a POTENTIAL explanation of why some people's phones seem to reboot more than others... this is not a generalization for all... It may not apply to you...
I think that random reboots (especially often) are related to potentially bad hardware, not being on the 2.3.34 OTA update...or user error (don't get mad, please let me explain this part!). I found that after moving off of 2.3.15 OTA that my phone was much more stable.
I notice from back when I first had my Droid X that I went crazy loading up lots of apps, and throwing widgets all over my home screens... I had custom themes flashed and lots of other stuff. While yes, blur does suck up more system resources than custom ROM's without it... you can run a phone with Blur without constant reboots.
The more apps that you have on the phone (even if not running) eat up resources. Along with that, the more widgets or notifications you have on your homescreens, the more resources that the phone is chewing through... With that said, you can SEEM to not be running anything on the phone, but the widgets in the background process' can be using up precious memory that cause the phone to lag or reboot.
Like I said at the beginning, if you don't have a lot of extra widgets and programs loaded, then yes, I would say that really sucks that your phone reboots. Moto's way of handling a resource issue (in most cases RAM)... is to reboot the phone to clear memory.
If you happen to have a lot loaded on your phone...try not to use a lot of widgets, and cut back on some un-needed apps... See if the phone reboots as often. Again, this is not me blaming anyone for their phone rebooting, simply my understanding of technology from personal experience.

[Q] Nexus 4 Freezing frequently

I have been using my phone for more than 4 months now.
Till now everything was fine, but 2 days I noticed my battery was draining very quickly and yesterday suddenly my phone started freezing while using it. The only way to reboot is by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. I also noticed that it never happens when the phone is charging. I phone is running stock rom. I tried reseting it but still it is freezing. So I wiped the entire phone memory and flashed the stock OS again. But the problem is still there.
Somebody please help me. :crying:

Funny I'm also in the same situation. Recently restored from a backup ( from 301k nexus 4 to my current 303k nexus 4) and lately ive been getting a load of lockscreen sleep and my phone constantly restarting or I'd have to hold power for a few seconds.
Just wondering if maybe i should reflash rom as a whole? ( i already reflashed kernel if anything.)

You could reflash the factory image but first make sure this isn`t caused by a runaway app/widget. Most of these problems are caused by user apps most of the time. Install BetterBatteryStatts and cpu spy for app behaviour and cpu deep sleep.

Earlier when I used to restart my phone, the battery app used to show a huge drop in charge, but now the battery app resets itself and shows that the device was on battery only since the restart.
I am getting frustrated, now whenever my phone is inactive for 10 mins, the phone wont unlock and it crashes

ROM Ver : 4.2.2
Baseband Version : M9615A - CEFWMAZM - 2.0.1700.48
I hope this is what you asked
Another thing I noticed is that the phone works perfectly when it is plugged in and when on battery, it wont hang till battery level reaches 91%-93%, but after that as the battery level drops the crash interval becomes less. When it is around 25-30% the phone sometimes freezes even during restart. Will it be a battery problem?

Random reboots with multitasking

Hi guys,
I've had a super weird issue with my phone for the past few months (although I don't remember exactly when the issue started happening). Basically, my phone randomly reboots when there is a chathead/bubble/etc on the screen. This problem happens when I use Facebook Messenger chatheads, bubbles by LinkBubble, and chatheads by YAATA. I don't think it's a program-specific issue, nor does my phone reboot every time I use those apps. It's very inconsistent and hard to predict.
Have any of you encountered this problem? Any ideas for what is causing it and/or how to fix it? It's really annoying to have my phone randomly reboot itself multiple times each day. I know I could just uninstall the three apps that seem to trigger the reboots, but I really like those apps and want to find a way to keep them around.

No. The problems initially started when I was on stock, unrooted. I'm now on CM12.1 and rooted, but the random reboots are still happening.

Random reboots

Anyone here had experienced random reboots? It constantly happening to me different days, with no reason. I do not know what could be wrong.

Using this device for 3 weeks and I've been experiencing this since last week. It hasn't happened during the day yet but at night it does. When I wake up my phone is either at the 'unlock sim card' screen when it's connected to my charger or just off and I have to boot it up. The latter is very annoying as my alarm doesnt work then.
I fear it's a hardware (battery or mobo) issue but hope it's a software one as it's happening only during the night so far. I'm in the process of unlocking my bootloader as of an hour ago and hope a clean install / flashing an older version of miui or flashing miui.eu may fix this.
I have low hopes for Banggood customer service where I ordered the phone...
Edit: please do chime in if others have experienced this or have advice on troubleshooting like logging the crashes or smth, I'm a big noob in this regard.
It happens to me randomly. No specific time of the day, but not always, its been getting frequent though. Before its like every 2 to 3 weeks, now i'am having it every week. There are also times that the phone becomes hot, not very but noticeably hot, then it freezes so I have to force reboot it. If someone out there knows whats going on please enlighten us.

Okay it seems I was pretty dumb and had the auto-schedule turned on under Security -> battery -> settings -> schedule on/off. Had it set at turn on at 00:00 and off at 07:15. However, I thought this settings was to turn on and off the battery saver mode lol. I turned the whole thing off and hope I won't find my phone rebooting at night now.
Did you find a solution? It has been happening to me too. When I am playing a game, or doing skype calls, or just randomly, It happened a few times also when I tried to use google photos, it is more and more often.

Yeah, see my comment above. For me I actually accidentally set it up to reboot. Random reboots often point to a faulty battery, possibly loose connectors.
