Advanced power menu crashing - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
using French device DS with build 23.118-10. Lollipop 5.1.1. Rooted with SuperSU 2.46 and using latest v79 xposed.
This bugs me:
I like to have an advanced power menu with reboot, recovery and bootloader. I noticed that regardless of the implementation (APM+, Gravity Box of other third party app) this isn't stable. After a couple of hours or days the phone will generate a bug report and the advanced power menu is reduced to "reboot" only.
Any ideas?
I have three bug reports but not sure how to read them. As I understand it xposed hooks into the execution so that might complicate things.

Recent Frequent Crashes (Stock 6.0, rooted, xposed)

I'm on stock, non-systemless root, with xposed installed. Worked without a hiccup for several weeks then recently I've been getting notifications that a bug report has been captured. I'm not sure how to interpret it, so can someone help me out? I know it's gravity box that's crashing because when I reboot I lose the option from the power menu and do it through flashify.

Read each and every step mentioned in this post carefully and then start working on Root.
If you've any fear about the root. Please stop it here and close the window

[*]I'm not responsible for damage to your mobile or loss of warranty!
Things that may not work:
No official OTA updates (Of-course)
All Knox Based Apps (Samsung Pass, Secure Folder, Samsung Pay, S Health)
But you can get the above working - We have some ways to make them work even after root. Please Check that after the root process below
Here are the instructions to root your Nougat:
Instructions are similar to Marshmallow. Main thing to note here is - Use the latest supersu build.
Prerequisite:
Samsung Drivers
ODIN
SR2-SuperSU-v2.79 and above versions.
twrp-3.0.2-4
Instructions:
Enable OEM unlock & Debugging Mode in the Developer Options
Reboot your device into Download mode. To do this, hold the [Volume Down] + [Home] buttons for a while.
Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot and disable Auto-Reboot and click on "Start" by connecting your phone.
When its done flashing, Hold [Volume Down] + [Home] + [Power] to get out of Download mode and immediately swap to [Volume Up] when the screen blanks.
If you don't see TWRP boot splash, try again.
At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
By swiping right, you will trigger dm-verity, and if you don't follow the next step you will be unable to boot!
If you are going to root your device and follow the rest of these steps, then it is safe to swipe right and enable modifications.
If you want to use Systemless DevBase, then do not swipe. Keep it as read only.
Go to Wipe and click on format data. Type "yes" and it will format.
Now go back to home and click on "Reboot" then click on "Recovery" Option.
Now Transfer the above downloaded filed into your Phone or Memory Card or OTG Pendrive.
Now again click on Install and flash the Super SU. Only the latest Super SU is working fine with no issues. Do not use the old versions.
You can now click on reboot > system
It will take about 5 Min and boot. Done. You've got the Nougat rooted.
After the fresh boot, you will setup everything. Once you are in, you can observe a notification.
This is a security notification - unauthorised actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorised changes
Disable the notification permissions in settings and restart your device by using power button.
Do not restart it by using the option mentioned in that window!
Now go into supersu app. A popup will open to disable the Knox. click on OK. It will take some time to disable it. If its taking more than 5 min and failed to disable, then restart the mobile again and do the same step. it will work now.
Note: You can ignore the last step, If you want to use KNOX - do not disable it.
How to Disable the notification permissions:
Slightly move the notification to the right. You can see a 'settings icon'. Click on that and you'll be taken to notification permissions.
If you see "Allo notifications", disable it.
or
Go to Settings > Applications > Click on 3 dot menu on the right corner and select "Show system Apps". Find "SecurityLogAgent" and open it.
If you dont see that option to disable the notifications:
Go to settings > device maintainance > Device Security > Click on scan device once and close the settings.
Open the supersu app and you may see the popup to disable KNOX. click on OK. (If you've already done this, just restart your mobile)
Restart the device. Done.
If you the see the notification again, install titanium Backup app and Disable/Freeze - SecurityLogAgent & SharedDeviceKeyguard.
Restart your mobile.

Special Note:
Please do not use the old versions of supersu on Nougat. You'll have some problems with the root. You may get the root but some of the things may not work well.
Camera doesnt work, flash light doesnt work, wifi problem, delay in response, keyboard doesn't work properly, App closure etc etc.
So, use SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521 and above versions for better results.
Phsuperuser and magisk will also work but, you may have to use custom kernels.
Did you brick your device ?
Then flash the official firmware using ODIN. Download the official stock firmware from sammobile.com or by using this tool

or
Go to Settings > Applications > Click on 3 dot menu and select "Show system Apps". Find "SecurityLogAgent" and open it.
Some of the members are unable to see this option. Members who have upgraded directly from Marshmallow to Nougat are having this issue. You cannot change the notification permissions for system Apps. And for those who have upgraded from Beta, they have the option to disable. not sure why.
If you dont see that option to disable the notifications:
Go to settings > device maintainance > Device Security > Click on scan device once and close the settings.
Open the supersu app and you may see the popup to disable KNOX. click on OK. (If you've already done this, just restart your mobile)

We have some MODs available to remove knox and bloatware for Marshmallow and Beta Nougat. I did not test any mods on this official Nougat.
May be after sometime this procedure will get easy.
Hope that helps :good:

Read on TWRP thread that the latest super su does not require flashing of no verify zip file as it does the job? Is that true?
But now I can't log in on Snapchat

I think it's your first time to root your phone.
Snapchat will not work on Rooted devices. Its blocking the user to login on rooted devices.
But, we have many threads in XDA on how to use snapchat despite the root. You should takeout some time to search on google
Here is a thread by @TheGejr - Snapchat on rooted devices without Xposed (Nougat)
Another Thread : Snapchat and Root
Or you can use the following steps:
unroot your phone and Restart : Open Supersu > go into settings > go to 'Clenaup' Category > click on "Full unroot". It will remove the root.
Login to your snapchat.
Root the phone by super su again.
You can use the snapchat again.
Hope that helps

Yeah Right. Its not needed (as per the comments in that thread).
I have observed the same in MM as well.
In most of the rooting method threads, everyone recommended to flash the no-verify zip. So, I did the same.
Will see if it works that way with the new supersu.
May be you can try that when you get the nougat update

In the new official Nougat, S Health app is checking the KNOX flags due to updated security policy. If your knox tripped, then it wont work.
I've tried removing the knox, Removed S Health app and installed it as user app. Nothing worked.
This is working in custom ROMs. Anyway you want to root the official stock, so using custom roms is almost the same. Try them instead of this

I didn't try it myself but maybe it will work:
Just delete S Health completely from system/app and get an older version (e.g. 4.8) from apkmirror. Install that apk as a regular user app and let it update. Some people claim that this method worked for them.
Root dont work
Hi i have s7 with nougat official and I root the phone is ok I have root all good but the root apps don't work properly they ask for permission every 10 sec or crash or they tell my i don't have root the root futures of apps don't work properly
(Lucky Packer crash . Game killer after premison don't work or they tell my my phone isn't root .app2sd error on root)
just install the TWRP another kernel for example, TGP Kernel then lucky works

[PROTIP] How to fix bootloop caused by xposed modules and get them to run!

Hey there,
I've had a problem with my fire TV gen 2 with FireOS 5.0.5 (rooted) that sometimes this b*tch would not boot with xposed modules enabled that I'd really love to have.
Now I finally seem to found an answer to my problems. One Xposed module that has been causing alot of problems but which I REALLY wanted to use was the "Holo Themer" modules which allows you to change the UI of apps. This one is really cool because it allows you to open Supersu, Xposed App Settings etc - you just have to set the ui to "Material Dark". Otherwise that apps dont open or FC.
What I found out is that they seem to be running fine for one boot, JUST AFTER ENABLING. I'm still investigating on how to make them permanently run even after reboot but now I wanna explain how to get em running at all.
So heres what you should try:
1. Download and install all the xposed modules you wanna use and also activate them.
2. Reboot by just unplugging and replugging the power cord.
3. If the firetv still boots, youre fin.
3b. If you end up in a bootloops:
4. Reboot to recovery and delete the following file: (through file explorer in TWRP): /data/data/de.rovo.xposedinstaller/conf/modules.list (dunno if i spelled the name of the app correctly but you get the point if youre a pro or advanced user)..
5. Reboot the device
6. Go to xposed installer after full bootup and re-enable all the modules. (because u deleted the modules.list the firetv did boot without ANY xposed modules activated).
7. Unplug and replug power. This time the b*tch should boot up with all the modules enabled. Mysteriously though, when you reboot again, you might end up in a bootloop again.. So this might just work for one boot....
---
Incase you still end up in a bootloop:
Delete the dalvik cache in the recovery, delete the modules.list as explained above. Reboot.
This usually means that your xposed module (version) is not running well with the firetv. So try to find out which module is causing the problem and try another version.
For the Holo Themer for example I found out that the latest version just isnt workijg for the firetv.. even with that "lil trick" .. so downgrade to 3.0 (in that case) and then rinse repeat.
-----
Enjoy
P.S. This is meant for pros or advanced users who really want to use certain xposed modules that seem to cause bootloops, not gonna answer any questions, esp. if theyre noob questions.. if you dont get what im sayin here just dont bother pls and keep on learning.

8.1 Xposed install, the how-to and pros and cons

Xposed on 8.1 How-to:
Required: Rooted with Magisk and Xposed installer 3.1.5 is needed for this to work.
I followed how some say to get it installed on here and just couldn't get it to install correctly. The way I got it to work on the first try is:
1) Download and install Xposed 3.15 from the link below,
2) open up the Xposed installer app and accept root,
3) in the Xposed app, click on the cloud next to the first option to install/update to 90 beta 3
4) reboot and profit.
The other methods work after numerously flashing from Magisk or twrp. But doing it once suits me fine.
The pros:
As Oreo becomes more developed by the awesome people here on XDA, more and more modules are available. So the best Pro there is, is that a lot of the modules work, too big of a list to go through, but gravity box, flat status bar, and neo power menu works definitely. Play around there is a lot working.
The cons:.
Okay so the biggest concern there is, it's the lag. I'm talking longer reboots, lag when waking device, switching from app to app, just feels like a sluggish phone after. Even the touch screen seems unresponsive at times. But if you don't care, by all means go for it.
Just thought I'd share this with everyone. Have a nice day.

Debloat, audio mod, advanced power menu, adviced script and magisk modules

Hi guys, I've got this smartphone just by two days and I've upgraded it to Oreo (G935FXXU3ERHC) and rooted with Magisk. So this are my questions, the first thing is debloating. Is there any aroma debloater so that I can choose what to debloat? Alternativetly could you suggest me a good debloater? For now I'm disabling services and app with Titanium Backup but if there's a safe way to debloat is better so that I can free space
Second question is about soundmod. On my previous S6 I had DivineBeats V10 and for me was the best soundmod. Do you advice me other mod or I should stick with the DivineBeats?
Is there anyway to get the advanced power menu so I can reboot to recovery/download mode or soft reboot without using the buttons?
Then I've seen some script that states to improve battery and performance, which should I install?
And finally, there'are magisk module that can never miss with S7E?
I'm sorry for all this questions but I haven't much free time in this period and I can't test by myself or do appropriate research, thanks you all!
