I just bought a used Z5 and I want to make sure that it wasn't tampered with, i. .e that the bootload was unlocked (and possibly restored).
Is there any surefire way of checking the status of the DRM keys on the phone I just bought?
Thanks for your help!
Try Playstation movies, if I recall SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) didn't work with unlocked bootloaders on the Xperia Z1.
Dial *#*#SERVICE#*#* in the dialer and go to Service test > Security
The first 3 lines should read KEY OK if the device has never been unlocked before.
Perfect! Thank you very much!

I don't know what to thank you more for:
- learning about the KEY OK security check
- learning that the 7378423 sequence, which was impossible to remember, actually spells out SERVICE
I think I'll thank you for 7378423; this is awesome and freaking obvious
I bought a used z5 and wanted to check that too.
The first 3 lines says KEY OK. so, it is for sure that has never been unlocked?
However, the phone has an Androidplus kernel, and twrp recovery... what does that mean? have these two been installed without unlocking bootloader and without rooting?

Your device is 100% sure that was unlocked.
Yeah mine showed Okay but my bootloader is unlocked and rooted also.
but... I read that if you unlock the bootloader, it also affect to some functions like the camera.... does that mean that I cant get those good functions back?

Actually no, tobias is the legend of Xperia, his drm hack is awesome and I believe that his mod will work for a long time as long as he doesn't open source.

An exploit has been discovered on the Sony Xperia Z that allows users to root the phone even if their bootloader is locked. Most phones bought directly from some carriers such as O2 and Three in the UK will have locked phones, which means they won’t get to dabble with custom ROMs. However, this exploit means that they can at least enjoy a rooted phone.

Yes someone reading this forum posted that I guess.
Info is in the root with bootloader thread.
But hold on while we make it simpler for everyone.
(not hard now, but it can be easier)

Awesome news
Quick question before I head off this page, does this now mean you don't lose Bravia etc now when rooting?
Very nice. I will wait a short time before rooting. I have downloaded all necessary stuff but I read some reports about bugs on the Japanese blogpost. (not booting and NFC problem, as far as I understand)
I have done it it is working
so what you do
http://www.mediafire.com/?p232ynmsgw0xk6s
http://blog.huhka.com/2013/03/root-...howComment=1363013017781#c5659112052654514515
it is very easy follow instruction
make sure it you disabled a firewall
run the .bat
is running adb,
then press enter
in the second step watch out for the screen so you can restore data
then enter
then it will open for a service got to service -> display keep it in a white color

does it work with C6602 ? do encounter any problem after rooting ? such as not booting after restart or NFC problem ?!
After the service test menu and the "white screen" nothing happens! :/
please post all queries related to the Rooting toolkit of goroh_kun in the following thread:

You didn't lose Bravia engine before with rooting it was bootloader unlocking that did it.

We both have the same version. I believe that is the asian version of g3 (im also thinking it is the Singaporean version because of the SEA suffix, but i might be wrong)
Purpledrake root method worked for me, so you might want to give a shot. Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
When i try using purpledrake on windows this comes up..

Managed to solve the problem and rooted my phone successfully, thanks!
Has anyone successfully unlocked the SPH-L720 from Sprint with this newest firmware? I found instructions on another thread for unlocking the L720, but they are for Android 4.2.2 and do not work with 4.4.2. When I attempted to downgrade the modem, it bricked the phone. I've managed to get the correct firmware re-installed and un-brick the phone, but now I'm back to square one.
The phone is rooted, I just need to carrier unlock it from Sprint and remove the CDMA lock so that I can use a GSM sim (attempting to use the phone with NET10 which uses T-Mobile/AT&T compatible sims).
I'm having the same issue here. Let me know if you got through. I want to use my Galaxy s4 outside the USA on a GSM network.
same issue
I need to know also my contract is about over will sprint really unlock it for me I am rooted or can I go to a MDC baseband version and do the unlock codes....... please help ty

no problem this told me what to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415587 soon as I get away from my contract I will be trying thx
Bumping this to see if anyone has figured this out?
I've got a GoogleFi data only card and would love to get my S4 back online but it seems I'm SOL since I'm on L720VPUFNG2.
Someone on reddit said they figured it out but hadn't provided the details (nor replied to PMs), I don't want to brick my phone as it's still an excellent backup.
Is unlocking an L720 on NG2 possible?
Please I need this too
Have you guys tried the unlocking thread in the General section?

But look at bottom of that page, why here's "HTC"?
Flashtool does it as well without wiping data. You just have to be ready with key

I'm unlocked and don't get that message past the initial unlock. My gut says you didn't enable the "Settings-Developers Options->OEM Unlock" toggle before unlocking. I followed the instructions in the "OnePlus 5: Unlock Bootloader | Flash TWRP | Root | Nandroid & EFS Backup & More !!" and it worked without the issue your mentioning.
I get the same message on my OP5 I could have sworn I turned on OEM unlock when I unlocked the bootloader. Hmm I am curious how I can get rid of the message at startup without bricking my phone lol will wait a bit until a tutorial posts up

I was dead wrong as I get that screen also. It seems that everyone that unlocked the bootloader gets such a screen at boot time. I read a post that said it was forced by Google on Nougat so that an altered (unlocked bootloader) phone was seen by the phone's user. I also read that it also happened on the OP 3T but they eventually found a way around it.
Sorry for my misleading post but when I rebooted before I must have been looking away so had not seen it.
