So I managed to brick my phone, with luck I was able to bring it back to life.
Big problem is the WiFi won't turn on. I've done plenty searches, but can't find a definitive solution. (I've tried removing battery, factory reset, etc.)
I'm rooted, on stock rom, and have philz recovery. Freedompop is my carrier.
Here are the phone details:
Software Version: L720TVPUBNC6
Hardware version: L720T.03
Model Number: SPH-L720T
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband version L720TVPUBNC6
Kernel version: 4.5.0-2345871
[email protected] #1
Build number: KOT49H.L720TVPUBNG5
I'm not averse to flashing a new ROM as long as 3G and LTE are working as well. But would primarily would like a fix for the WiFi Problem.
If I need to update software version, I don't know which one to update to and using what method (Odin? Philz Recovery?)
Thanks in advance for the help!

Worked Perfectly
Soooo many thanks! That worked perfectly!
It seems like a completely different phone with this update. I had it rooted for so long and didn't update it that I'm having to learn the phone all over again.

You can root your phone, download an app called Titanium Backup from the playstore and remove the chinese apps. No need to flash another version of the firmware.

Check first if your "made in China" isn't a fake because I9500 MDK firmware is one year old (and buggy at this time)
-Install CPU-Z application to get the true
I may be wrong and hope it is the case
Problem S.O.S
I was trying to do the root I have all the application that I need for this procedure but I have a huge problem. When I am pressing the 3 bottoms I getting everything in Chinese. I would like to speak and to read in Chinese to understand what I have to press .
Guys please any help
Sounds like you're trying to get your phone into the downloading mode for ODIN.

That's the text that comes up, it's the same on your phone but only in chinese language. Do what it says on the english one and you'll have the phone in downloading mode. Then you can do the next steps with ODIN.
Hi everyone. The more i read i'm even more confused.
I bought used phone from China. It is Samsung S4 Sprint SPH-L720T.
It is unlocked ( i suppose because i dont use sprint sim - i am from Serbia/Europa) and it's rooted.
When i go to Settings/More/AboutAbout Device it says:
Model number: GT-I9500
Baseband Version: I9500XXUFNE4
Build Number: DONGCHAO.527
From Phone Info app:
General info:
Phone model: GT-I9500
Device type: jflterefreshspr
Product name: jfltezc
CSC info:
Everything is CHN except CSC Country: USA and Product code: Not active
Firmware info:
Bootloader and baseband version: L720TVPUBNC6
PDA Version: I9500XXUFNE4
CSC version: L720TSPTBNC6
OS info:
Build number: KOT49H.I9500XXUFNE4(I9500XXUFNE4)
Now which sofware do i have on my phone?
And because this is probably chinese version and not come with google play service preinstall, i want to flash some other rom (international, indian).
I take a little research but i dont know which to choose:
1. http://nasirtech.blogspot.com/2014/04/l720tvpubnc6-android-442-kitkat.html (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/28778/L720TVPUBNC6_L720TSPTBNC6_SPR.zip)

By the way this is my first Samsung phone, and i'm not android expert
PS: I dont know how i have PDA Version: I9500XXUFNE4, when it has to be for Exynos phones.
Any suggestion?
For which device i have to download stock rom (I9500 or I9505)?

apologies for invoking such a old thread but its still better than creating a new thread. Did you found any luck in flashing a another firmware ? my friend also recently bought a GT-19500 device with the same firmware (DONGCHAO).
He now wants to re-install a another firmware.
This is not the I9500 forum. This forum is for the Sprint S4, go to the correct forum to find the correct information.

That's because it's referred to just by OA3. Why does he need a modem?

Here are the stock ROMs- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59310363
I would try www.sammobile.com for the firmware. I downloaded it from there before I had to return mine.
I have a few concerns to address. I recently bought the Galaxy i9505 (or in my case, the Sprint SPH-L720T version). The device comes unlocked with stock firmware/software, Lollipop 5.0.1 baseband OH2.
Now I will try to make this as clear as possible. We don't have the Sprint network here, I'm on Vodafone. I just flashed an official ROM from Sammobile with a different baseband version (this one) because I can't find the version that my phone came pre-installed with. I upgraded to address the StageFright and widgets app draw issue that was on the stock ROM.
Now my question is: by flashing a different baseband version, will I lose the ability to have an unlocked device and incur roaming charges on my network, or is the unlocked to work on multiple networks feature on a firmware level so I don't have to worry about it?
Thanks.

You will lose your domestic/international unlock of you upgrade the Baseband unless it was actually unlocked by Sprint.

Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the case. Good thing I made a backup.
I suppose you wouldn't know where I can get a StageFright Patch for the OH2 version by any chance?
How do you check to see what version bootloader you have? I have unlocked my bootloader on my Note 3 and am running OF1/5.0. Ready to install TWRP and new ROM. But, not sure if I have a 4.3 or 4.4 bootloader and can't seem to find a simple answer and how to confirm.

This is what you'll get... In my case.. NC4 bootloader (unlocked) and OF1 based OS (Jasmine ROM)

Thank you for the recommendation. I dig the app, though I still don't know which bootloader I have going by the 4.3/4.4 scale. I'm assuming by now I have the most current one, which ever one that is, because I installed the latest TWRP and am running CM13 with no issues thus far.

The last 3 digits represent the OS/bootloader/firmware versions. In my case, bootloader is NC4 which is 4.4.2, my baseband (modem) is NK1 which is 4.4.4 and the ROM base is OF1 which is 5.0
