(5.0) Galaxy Note 3 Verizon Rooooooooooooot - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everybody,,
I hope everybody is doing well.....
I need root for Galaxy note 3 Verizon, the version of the system is 5.0. And if the root was still not available i am ready to pay for it.
It's urgent

Search is your friend....

I heard someone was working on a 4.4.4 root

Then use that money to go buy a different phone because Verizon Note 3's with 5.0 on them can NOT be rooted.

Can you downgrade to KitKat and then root to Lollipop?
I rooted mine on KitKat awhile back and installed 5.0 stock and kept root. However, I ran into a problem when trying to flash TWRP because I couldn't access my previous custom recovery (I think I had SafeStrap?).
I used Odin to flash 5.0 stock but lost root.
Thanks

Nope. And you can do nothing to get root short of buying a new phone...or a used Verizon Note 3 that is on 4.4.2 or LOWER.

You can't ODIN to the original stock version and root from there? I'm curious on what would be different if you went back to 4.3 and rooted from there.

Nope...you can not use Odin to go back to lower than 4.4.4. There are hardware "fuses" that once "blown" can not be reset and the system reads those fuses and will not allow an earlier OS to be flashed.

no, wait for the 15th, when there MAY be a working root announced

yes it was rooted but unfortunately they didn't release it to the public. the proof it was rooted because they were able to install a custom rom consisting the Arabic language.

That video was not proof. They could easily have used a prior rooted Note 3 and maintained root when upgrading to 5.0. Perhaps they did gain root on 5.0, but that video doesn't prove anything. I'm anxious for March 15th to see if their claims pan out or if they're just blowing smoke like everyone before them.

The Yemen team finally released it!!forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/general/yemen-root-note-3-n900v-verizon-t3329389

Root for Verizon Note 3

Now that we have lollipop for note 3 is there a root method
NO
Don't expect one until the JasmineROM dev releases MultiSystem. For that we need to wait for Verizon/Samsung to release the firmware. Could be about a week from now at least, 2 at most.

Thanks for the info...waiting patiently...
No root is not possible after nc4 it may never be possible to root we will most likely get a pre rooted rom able to be loaded on the nc4 bootloader
So when should we expect root for the note 3 running lollipop? Now that lollipop is out for the Verizon note 3 I mean.
Ask the Note 4 people. They have been waiting for root on lollipop longer and nothing yet. Expect nothing but there is always hope.

Being able to boot from NC4 bootloader would be a plus! Then I can go back and forth between that and my trustworthy 4.4.2 ROM. Lolipop might not be able to load from an old bootloader though. We shall see.

That was a while ago when it was done. 4.4.4 can not boot from NC4 firmware so more than likely 5.0 wont be able to do it either.
From reading HSBADRs thread, its looking like NC4 would be replaced by whatever the newest version is. There is no going back once you take his Lolipop ROM. So no backing up your 4.4.2 ROM before moving on because it wont work anymore. Safestrap will be gone as well and you will only have stock recovery.
Once you make that move to Lolipop, there is no going back to any of the previous ROMS that were released. That is a big commitment.
So no root for a while yet?

is this guide to root lolipop legit?

I noticed the lollipop update is now available for the note 3. However I still want to keep root. I searched google and found this guide, but I'm not sure if its legit or works.

Pay close attention...that is for the N900 International N3 that does not have a locked bootloader.

It's not the international N3, as those are modeled "N900n" where n is a number. The N900 is a SIM unlocked US variant that works on GSM only carriers. (All US variants are N900(x) where x is a letter representing the carrier. No Carrier leaves x blank.)
*EDIT*
Just to reiterate, this won't work on the N900V
The point is it does not work for Verizon or Att with locked bootloaders.

If I understand correctly there is currently no way to install Janine ROM of you are already on lollipop right? I just bought a used note three but haven't gotten it yet to see which firmware is on it. In coming from a g2 where there were plenty of ways to root

If you're already on lollipop than you cannot root or flash any roms. You need to be on either 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 already rooted with safe strap installed to install the rooted stock rom
Oh so jasmine ROM is basically stock 5.0 with root? So basically I just need to flash his ROM and I'm good to go? I'm running 4.4.2 and have safestrap installed

As of right now, no. There IS however the possibility of returning to NK1 from 5.0, so if something gets released for NK1 and not 5.0, then that's an option.

[Q] Little help for Un-rooting & returning to stock 4.4.2

I'm looking for some help to return to stock on my Note 3. I'm a very casual rooter and don't flash any ROM's. The only reason I rooted in the past was to get free WiFi tether but we now have that for free on our account (family plan.) My wife also has the Note 3, completely stock, and has gotten several updates and is now on lollipop.
I rooted about a year ago, maybe 14 months. I used a method that at the time was very popular here... safestrap and Odin. Easy to follow. I've rooted every phone I've had going back to the original Droid but I've never gone this long without returning to stock so I'm a little worried about the process. Everything is backed up and ready to go on the device.
I would like to return to stock and then take the OTA's up to Lollipop.
This is my current setup:
Safestrap 3.72 (TWRP v2.7.0.0)
"Stock" boot option
4 Empty ROM slots
SM-N900V
Phone 4.4.2
Baseband: N900VVRUCNC2
Kernel: 3.4.0
Build: KOT49H.N900VVRUCNC2
Hardware:N900V.07
SuperSU v2.46
As a side note, what's the current thoughts about lollipop, if I take the OTA's up to it am I hosed if I were to want to root? (Not my plan but just in case) Are there benefits over 4.4.2, should I just stay where I am?
Thanks!

Unrooting will make your phone as it was before (loose root access) and you'll be able to update your phone through OTA's.
If you love rooting then you can reroot your device after update.

Ok, going to try this tonight.. sorry for the long delay in responding. I'm going to be trying the Super Su method, according to Hitman-XDA it will work for me. My last question is will this also unlock my phone along with unrooting? Currently I am unlocked and rooted.. I mainly want to return to stock to nab OTA's that I've missed out on. Also my VM is broken and I'm fairly positive that will fix it.
Ok, I did not use the SuperSU unroot feature, I read quite a bit more and from what I came to understand it would not work.
I used ODIN to flash a stock version of 4.4.2, that worked great and fully unrooted me. It did not re-lock my bootloader but 4.4.4 OTA was waiting and it locked the bootloader in the process of updating. Then I got 3 or 4 updates taking me all the way to 5.0 with no issues.
Heads up, from what I could find there is only 1 place to download a stock 4.4.2 firmware, rapidgator... it sucks and was really slow to DL. I let it go overnight. When done unzip it, use ODIN and G2G.
Can you upload the firmware file to mega.co.nz ? and share the link?

Downgrading Lollipop?

I was wondering how to go about downgrading my N900v - I downloaded the Stock Kitkat Firmware and tried to flash with odin, keep getting a SW REV CHECK FAIL - [aboot] Fused 4 > Binary 1 error. Not sure what this means or what I am doing wrong. I want to go back to root, install a custom recovery, and then put a rooted Lollipop rom on. PLEASE HELP! I used the search function and no answer is clear cut. Now, I used Odin and all I am getting upon boot is: Your device didn't update successfully, use the verzon software repar assistant. Sorry for posting twice, posted in generic Note 3 thread and didn't know how to delete. Thanks in advance!

This is more locked down than an iPhone 6s Plus! (just jailbroke my wife's). I can't believe that no one has figured out how to root this phone in 5.0. I'd really like to start taking advantage of some of the great features on a rooted Note 3, and I don't care if it trips the Knox. I don't care about the warranty. Does anyone have any ideas about rooting this stock device that is on 5.0?

I'd really like to start taking advantage of some of the great features on a rooted Note 3, and I don't care if it trips the Knox. I don't care about the warranty. Does anyone have any ideas about rooting this stock device that is on 5.0?

Of course tons of really smart people have tried rooting 4.4.4 and above. With or without tripping Knox. No one has been able to break the locked bootloader by any method. For all intents and purposes...it can't be done.
