Managed to get cwm and root with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...vo-a3500-h-t2879208/post55491817#post55491817
Modified the guide for Lenovo A3500-FL!
EDIT: Also some users have reported that this guide doesn't do the trick or is out-dated, so copypasted the guide from this post here.
Guide
1. Download attachment cwmRecovery.zip and download latest Flash_tool (version 5.1352.0) can be downloaded from here)
1.1. Enable USB-debugging. (How to do this)
2. Manually install the drivers from the attachment a7_40_drivers.zip for the LenovoTablet before plugin it to computer (win7 dirvers work for win8 too).
2.1. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 7: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/3914-windows-7-how-to-install-unsigned-drivers
2.2. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 8: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
2.3. After you have disabled the driver signature verification, you can install the drivers like this: Right click My computer, Manage, Device Manager, right click your computer at the top, Add Legacy hardware, next, Install plapla manually, next, Show all Devices, Have a Disk.., Browse to the driver folder where you unzip them, choose example windows7 and the 64 version (win7 drivers work for win8.x too), install every device. Then follow the guide.
(Note: Otherwise Windows only installs the normal automatic drivers and its more difficult to install the other drivers.)
2.4. Plug your device to PC.
3. Download the latest supersu zip file (version 2.46) from attachments or from https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
3.1. Move the zip.-file to the Sdcard.
4. Turn off your device.
5. Unpack cwmRecovery.zip
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights.
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder).
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2. Press Download.
7.3. Connect your device.
7.4. Wait few seconds.
8. Have CWM on your device .
9. Unplug your device.
10. . Boot to cmw recovery by turning off your device. Then press and hold VOL DOWN + VOL UP and then also press and hold POWER for about 7 seconds.
10.1. Choose " Install zip from sdcard." (To confrim always use the Power Button)
10.2. Choose "zip from sdcard".
10.3. Select SuperSU-v2.46.zip from sdcard and apply.
10.4. Have a rooted tablet.
It might be necessary to always flash the CWM with the Flashtool directly before you startup the device. Otherwise it will start the original AndroidRecovery again.
It might also be necessary to use different drivers from here.
If the supersu zip doesn't install, try toggling the signature verification to disabled from cwm->install zip from sdcard->toggle signature verification.
Tested and working on Levono A7-40 3500-FL with kitkat update, build number A3500FL_A442_01_25_140823_SE, from ota. Attached screenshot for proof. Also other people have reported that this works for later updates too, for example A3500FL_A442_01_27_141127_SE.
You can update to the latest OTA firmware by first going back to stock recovery. See the second post for the guide.

How to go back to stock rom/recovery and update to latest Lenovo OTA firmware update
So, it's pretty simple, you take the stock_recovery.zip from the first post, extract it, and replace recovery.img in the recovery folder with the stock one.
Then :
Quote:
4. Turn off your device.
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder)
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2.. Press Download
7.3. Connect your device
7.4. Wait few seconds.
And that's it !
On a side note, if it seems stuck on a black screen with a loading circle after factory reset, you have to put the tablet in landscape mode and restart (the shutdown menu appears without any problem) - this issue doesn't seem related to recovery, but a bug within lenovo firmware and the first configuration screen.
Side note 2: The first boot after flashing new update might take 15mins.
Side note 3: After updating to the latest OTA you can go back to cwm recovery with the guide from the first post.

I got the same tablet and I also am looking for a root. :/
Another waiting for rooting lenovo owner.
Same here, i was looking for a root guide and i couldn't find anything.
Does anyone else has a problem with long charging times?
Well it charges long and the charge stays long, so no issue here.
Seems that not that many lenovos root easily, but of course this is a pretty new device(?).

Installed everything and tried vroot once again (I have tried it before).
Still not rooted. And btw that vroot at least tries to install bunch of bloatware crap on the pc.
Edit:
I would suggest for anyone who installed Vroot to your pc to scan the whole pc after you uninstall the vroot.
Here are the scanning tools:
Malwarebytes
adwcleaner
superantispyware
hitmanpro

I got a successful root by flashing Recovery.rar from lenovo-forums.ru, (it's easy to google, I'm not allowed to post links) with the included SPFlash Tool and afterwards flashing the needed SU binaryies and apk. However, this will mess up the OTA updates, and I can't find the stock recovery again.
Therefore, I really beg anyone having the stock recovery to post it, enabling us to switch between them, whenever we want to apply any OTAs.
Thanks a lot!

Well I very highly doubt that there will be any more updates for a device with this price range. And since the next android version is the L version, which requires more work than before.
Edit2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-lenovo-a3500-h-t2879208 found this. Tested and it works. Will edit it to the first post.
The same as me

I dont know what you two are trying to do but this thread is about rooting the lenovo A3500-FL not about lenovo stock rom.
Rooting..
Yes indeed, that's what I'm trying to do. Rooting the A3500-FL. According to the instructions you need to install the SuperSU from a zip on your SD card. When I try do that it gets interrupted every time. Installing recovery went well. So I'm not getting what I do wrong? Any ideas?

http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip and y ou mean this when you talk about update.zip?
And I hope you are using the install zip from sdcard option and the choose zip from sdcard option?
Boot to cmw.
Install zip from sdcard.
Choose zip from sdcard.
browse to your supersu zip and apply.
Now I also update the first post's guide, so you can check that out too.
Thanks for the help so far. But now I'm starting to doubt that the CWM install went successfully. Let me show you a picture of my screen after a failed install of the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip -file. (ht_tps://ww_w.dropb_ox.com/s/1wrnatzjk2gn42h/2014-10-09%2008.50.40.png?dl=0) (slightly modified link because of forum rules, just take out the _) I'm using the "apply update from sdcard" option, then I browse to the SuperSU.zip -file and apply it. Then it starts installation, but aborts it in a few seconds. So am I booting to just a normal recovery mode and not CWM? (Sorry if all this seems totally ignorant, I have only flashed roms before, never rooted a new device)

Yup.. This is the problem. The recovery runs fine from Flash Tool and claims it installs it. (Download ok) But I still don't seem to have CWM on the device. It's just normal recovery mode. So any ideas about the CWM-installation? What could possibly go wrong? I get no error messages. Cheers.

hey guys i found custom ROM for d858hk version which is here
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7892224-1-1.html
can be translated through Google but we need someone to explain to us in details.
I might able to help, I can read Chinese
let me know if you want any explanations.
it's based on lollipop 20d
- v1.0 LED not working, and this v2.0 fixed the problem
- rooted, superSU v2.46
- once you flashed the ROM, no need to flash the ROOT again
- busybox is in the system and no app not there
- works on D857 858 and 858HK
- it's a LIGHT version, there are functions that are deleted, like weather widget for example
- including deleted app inside the ROM, and could recover yourself
- app can write data to external SD card
- split view works for 3rd party app
- smart cover function removed, user can download the "deleted app" and put back into the system to get it working
deleted apps
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mg86X6o
HOW TO FLASH
FOR D858HK
1. ROOT
2. install TWRP 2.8.1.0
3 Reboot to TWRP 2.8.1.0 and upgrade it to 2.8.5.1
4. Flash ROM using this newest TWRP
D857 and D858
1. ROOT
2. download build.prop.zip, extract, using ES explorer to replace the one in "system" folder
3 flash D858HK 's TOT (http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7502599-1-1.html)
4.install TWRP 2.8.1.0
5. Reboot to TWRP 2.8.1.0 and upgrade it to 2.8.5.1
6. Flash ROM using this newest TWRP
Do "double wipe" after flashing the ROM, otherwise might have FC messages
Thanks alot i think this will help ...will try it now
but can we install twrp when in lollipop as i am now on lollipop
any ideas?
maybe these
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7677473-1-1.html
one click Recovery installation
need to be rooted
1. extract files to computer
2 connect phone
3 turn on usb debugging
4. run Recovery.bat
---------------------------------------
old temp way, didn't say if it works on L or only KK
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7727191-1-1.html
So...can any of you fluent Chinese speakers/readers help with the actual downloading of the ROM? It seems the rom is available at http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mg86X6o, but I get a little overloaded and can't figure out how to download from there. It seems to want me to log in, but I can't figure out if there's a non-login download ability lurking somewhere?
Do you have some screenshoots ?
Two things. First, I had the wrong link before. Correct one is: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sjoKe4l. Second, I realized the reason is that the zip file is over 1GB and they force you to a "download butler". So the login thing is related to copying that file into your (QQ, for example) account and then you could download the file from there.
If anyone with a D858HK is interested, I was able to install this custom rom on my phone without any problems. I followed steps elsewhere to root (the one click version) and install TWRP. The rom is basically a slim version of the standard lollipop rom. If you end up deciding to install this, be aware that the Google Contact Sync app is not included within the rom and you'll need to also download the "deleted apps" zip file mentioned in the same post (link in OP). In the "deleted apps" zip, you'll want to grab the Gooogle Contact Sync apk and install that ... otherwise you can't get your contacts copied to the new rom. There were a bunch of other apks, but this one the only one so far that seemed like it shouldn't have been removed from the rom.
FYI, here are the version details of the rom:
Android version: 5.0.1
Baseband version: MPSS.DI.3.0.c6.2-00011-M8974AAAAANAZM-1
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build number: (some chinese)1121561(more chinese)
Software version: D858HK20d-HKG-XX
So in total its not worth installing it? But anyway, thanks for your report!

I guess that depends on how easy it is to remove LG's bloatware and whether or not you need all/any of it. I personally didn't care for it anyway. But yeah, other than that, nothing special about the rom.

i believe there's a thread somewhere in this forum (http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-1508-type-10913.html) regarding d858 MIUI, could someone confirm? Thanks
Edit

has anyone successfully flashed TWRP from an MM rom i tried it and i got bricked and i cant seem to find one for MM only for LP

My LG-D858HK phone hard bricked:
What happened/how I hard bricked the phone. I'd already rooted the phone with Marshmallow and then tried to flash phone TWRP by (mistakenly) using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecd858hk when it hard bricked the phone. Now, the phone screen is black/blank and blue/red LED light flashing.
In addition, my PC doesn't recognise phone when plugged into USB port/s. Pop-up on PC screen says; “The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and windows do not recognize it.” And in Device Manager, I see a ‘yellow triangle’ next to LGE Platform Android Composite USB Device Driver.
I tried different methods to go into download mode and I’m not sure if any worked. Because, obviously, I can’t see anything on the phone screen to carry out procedures to fix phone in download mode. Moreover, I’m not even sure if the phone goes into download mode apart from a sound made from PC and the pop-up straight after.
PC always recognised phone when plugged into USB port/s before it was hard bricked.
Hello, guys this is my first post but i am quite sure that my methods work.If there any problems then u can surely ask in the section below. This thread will be a GUIDE TO ROOT AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY FOR MOTO G 1st Gen users.
Some prerequisites are:
1. Motorola drives (https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481)
2.Fastboot and recovery files (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9jf2va51ffg0pzq/AAAxDT-ETf7AESIcHGnfEgv7a?dl=0)
[ Let these files be downloaded and kept in Cdrive of ur pc and and place them on the desktop.. Please name this folder MOTO FILES]
3. SuperSu files https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/ and[/url] paste it in ur phones internal memory and please do this after unlocking the bootloader cause bootloader unlocking will delete everything so its better to do it after unlocking bootloader
Download these files and ur done... Now lets continue to the fun part
This process involves three very simple steps :
1. Unlocking the Bootloader:-
This process is infact very easy to do. There are several guides on the internet regarding this process but the one that i suggest is by High On Android/ Max Lee . Follow his method and u can very easily unlock ur bootlader. Copy this url and see it for urself fellow guys...http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-motorola-android-smartphone
2. Erasing ur previous recovery and installing a new one and rooting ur phone all in one process
Some users have been reporting that even after installing custom recovery , whenever they go into recovery they enter into stock recovery. The actual problem is that the stock rom of the Moto G rewrites over the new custom recovery installed.
So we have to install the recovery actually twice but it only takes a few minutes
i) Firstly be sure to have lots of juice in your phone
ii) Boot ur phone into the bootloader by power offing ur device and then pressing the volume down and power button together for 10 seconds and then leaving both of them together.
iii) Now connect ur device to ur pc/laptop
iv) Now open a cmd and enter the following commands(press enter after every command)
- cd Desktop
-cd MOTO FILES
-fastboot flash recovery Recovery2.img
-fastboot reboot-bootloader
[MAKE SURE NOT TO REBOOT UR DEVICE ]
v) Now ur phone has custom recovery installed in it and u shud now enter into recovery mode by choosing the option from the bootloader, by pressing volume down and then volume up while in bootloader mode.
vi) This will open the Philz recovery that i have provided with. I prefer the philz recovery over the cwm one. Now go on and install the SuperSu update zip file. And BOOM ur Device is now rooted !!!!.
vii) Now reboot ur phone and u must install
-ROOT CHECKER (to check root)
- and most importantly ROOT EXPLORER
viii) After following step (vii), now if u try to go into recovery, u will be booted to stock recovery. So to prevent that use the ROOT EXPLORER app and go to the root \system\etc and delete the file named install-recovery.sh .
ix) After deleting the file u will once again have to follow step (iv) and install custom recovery this will ensure u having custom recovery even after rebooting ur device and u will have ROOT access as well
On which android version , were you on before rooting . 5.01 or 5.1 .
This method works for both 5.1 and 5.01

If you just upgraded to android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!
Plz help me on this....
if i check with root checker,
Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device
Works but could be simplified
Thanks for this useful post. I've just followed the instructions to root my XT1032 Stock Lollipop 5.1, and they work. However, I have a few comments:
[1] I had already installed Motorola Device Manager on my (Windows 7) PC, plus 'Minimal ADB and Fastboot'. This was sufficient – I didn't need to download the files in your prerequisite 2.
[2] You can use any compatible recovery image. I prefer TWRP, so downloaded openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-xt1032.img.
[3] The SuperSu zip file you've linked to is out of date. The current one is version 2.46 (for Lollipop).
[4] After flashing SuperSu it's advisable to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache.
[5] Root Checker showed that BusyBox wasn't installed, so I downloaded Stephen Erickson's BusyBox installer from the Play Store. This is an essential step, as most programs requiring root won't work without BusyBox. Perhaps it could be added to the OP?
[6] You don't need to use Root Explorer – any root-compatible file manager will do. I prefer Total Commander.
[7] Having deleted (or in my case renamed) install-recovery.sh and then rebooted, I didn't need to go back to step iv and reinstall the custom recovery; in my case TWRP was still there. I think your step ix is unnecessary; at least it's worth checking which recovery you have.
I hope these points are useful and not too nit-picking!

Reinstallation of custom recovery is not must its just for safety precautions and I have finally updated the SuperSu link. As far as Busybox u will have to install it customly only.

facing problem after unlock bootloader mood for moto g 1st gen
Thanks a lot for your information...:good:
Bro!! I have already unlock bootloader mood.. Before rooting is it necessary to clear all data & app...??
Hi guys.
First of all, Please understand although I'm not good at English.
I have rooted wifi version m3. (BTV-W09C233B030)
I use TWRP and installed SuperSU.
I used erecovery to erase and install TWRP.
and now. I want rollback rooting and upgrade to nougat.
To do that, I heard that the stock firmware was needed, and I downloaded the full version of the file(full version BTV-W09C233B029) using the firmware finder.
Can you tell me in detail from here?
Thanks : )
First of all, I would like to let you know that :
- I've successfully installed Nougat BTV-DL09-C100-B302 but... I was unable to root it with "twrp_BTV-DL09_5_greatslon.img" + "TWEP-SuperSU-v2.79.zip".
- I've then done a rollback thanks to the "C900B300 - ROLLBACK from 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to 6.0 EMUI 4.1 6.0" package from the Huawei website.
- Then, successfully re-installed BTV-DL09-C100-B009
(1) By putting update.app inside "dload" folder (to be created or to be emptied) on the external sdcard
(2) Switched off the mediapad.
(3) Switch on pressing Volume up+down+power button and install will start.
- Successfully upgraded to BTV-DL09-C100-B010 -> BTV-DL09-C100-B301 with "Firmware finder 4.2" downloaded the from Google Store.
Unfortunately, again, I was unable to root it and I've identified this error while flashing "TWEP-SuperSU-v2.79.zip" with "twrp_BTV-DL09_5_greatslon" : "Boot image patching" process fails to patch "sepolicy" and give the error "--- failure, aborting" ; basically, the SU binary is not installed in the System. It's a kernel issue and I guess TWRP has to be patched for these new ROMS or the concerned file must be patched differently, with another tool (BTV-XX09-XXX-B301/B302). Or I'm doing something wrong if someone else has managed to root its mediapad running these updates.
If you don't need your mediapad to be rooted or if you know how to root it , installing Nougat is quite simple :
1) First replace TWRP with the stock recovery image. To do so, extract recovery.img from BTV-W09C233B029 with "HuaweiUpdateExtractor" for Windows.
Considering that you have the ADB drivers correctly installed, reboot in fastboot mode with the command : "adb reboot-bootloader" (or adb reboot bootloader). Then type : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and then "fastboot reboot". I'm doing all that under parallel destop (Windows 10) on a macbook pro.
2) Then, install you stock rom BTV-W09C233B029 :
(1) Put the file "update.app" inside a dload" folder (to be created or to be emptied) on the external sdcard.
(2) Switched off the mediapad.
(3) Switch it on while pressing volume up+down+power buttons. Install will start.
3) Download Firmware finder 4.2 from the google store and install the required Nougat OTA file for your mediapad thanks to the proxy method (localhost / port:8080 ; you will be proposed to download a Firmware Finder ADD-ON from the Google Store. It helps to push the local file to the official system updater in Settings). Not that you don't have to download the OTA file with the Firmware Finder ; you can just use Firmware Finder to trick the local update installation and then manually put the update.zip file on the internal sdcard in this directory : HWFF/null/update.zip. (Firmware Finder servers are very slow at times so you better download the OTA file yourself on the site mentioned in other xda threads).
Good luck.
Thank you
thank you very much!
It's a really easy way. I learned a lot thanks to this.
Unroot was completed without any problems.
Thanks again
My pleasure, glad you've been able to sort this out. :good:
You can try a factory reset. Used to happen to mine also when running BTV-DL09-C100-B006. Not occurred on B009 and Nougat. Can be caused by many things when unlocked / rooted / xposed framework and so on installed. If stock, I would do a backup and try a factory reset. I also remember having tried to activate both navigation menu + fingerprint sensor for navigation than removed the navigation menu and it had solved the issue if I remember well. Maybe a coincidence though... don't know.
Hey there,
I need help, hope you have some for me . I want to use the 6.0.1. OpenKirin OmniROM on my phone and struggle even figuring out a way to get there.
I just bought a used ALE-L21 DualSIM phone with the B602 Build and EMUI 4.0.3 installed. The device is not rooted, nor has its bootloader been unlocked. The EMUI update service does not offer me any patches.
Could someone please line out to me which steps I have to take in order to root my ALE-L21 and get this ROM to work?
Disclaimer: No, I'm not just a lazy moron who does not want to read other topics on this forum - I'm a mere user with less-than-average knowledge of Android development or stuff like that. And I just can't make complete sense of the various posts I've found, since English is not my mother tongue and there seems to be a whole bunch of ways to do certain things with a phone. Well, since obviously I don't want to brick my new phone, I'm not too sure how to best puzzle together the pieces this Forum offers me. It would be insanely helpful if I could get a list that reads out something like:
1. Action - Source (for needed files, e.g.) - Result, on to step 2
2. Action - Source (for needed files, e.g.) - Result, on to step 3
3. ... and so on...
Okay, just so you see that I'm not entirely lost, I'm gonna show you the picture which is currently in my mind.
From what I understand so far, there's the following steps to get there (please rectify or rearrange steps as far as needed):
1. Update the device to Vanilla EMUI 4.1, Build B895 or B896 (I am currently downloading the B896 Build from this forum - which one is recommended? My phone is DualSIM)
2. Unlock Bootloader (What's the best way to do it? Huawei CS? Heard it's not even sure you get an answer. DCUnlocker? Wants money... Please help me clarify)
3. get TWRP 3.1.1.0 (I already have the IMG file, how do I get it to run on my phone?)
4. Root the device (I'd like to go with MAGISK, does anyone have a link for a MAGISK build confirmedly working on ALE-L21?)
5. Do some magic with TWRP (Which steps exactly?)
6. Flash the ROM Zip file via TWRP
7. Flash Gapps via TWRP
Is that about it?
As I said, please feel free to add to/adjust my list!
Thanks in advance,
Pako
If you haven't already install minimal adb tools on computer (windows) found here :
http://bit.ly/2jxX4ya
You then need to unlock bootloader using minimal adb tools and the unlock code
Unlock Code:
http://bit.ly/2z9EFhV
Unlock Bootloader Method in this thread here:
http://bit.ly/2oIASBs
After you are done unlocking the bootloader
Install twrp find that here :
http://bit.ly/2ok9BTi
There was a tool that was here somewhere to install twrp but I will link to my copy here
http://bit.ly/2ATBgRP
What you do is put the twrp image file in data folder
then change the name of the twrp file to TWRP_3.1.1-0_ALICE.img or
edit the install.bat file line data\fastboot.exe flash recovery data\TWRP_3.1.1-0_ALICE.img to the name of your twrp file
Once twrp is installed then you can pick which rom you want
The 6.0 roms arent going to be supported anymore so i suggest going for 7.0 ROM
I'm on AOSPA which is the cleanest and has good battery life
To install 7.0 rom you need B895 or B896 found here on the first post:
http://bit.ly/2jypIij
this is installed through twrp (which is accessed when Phone is off by holding volume up + power then let go once it vibrates or connect the phone to the computer and then type adb devices then adb reboot recovery in minimal adb tool)
once in twrp you need to install the B895.zip or B896.zip file then reboot your phone will boot into emui
you need to install twrp again as B895 or B896 wipes it
After installing twrp you can then install any custom rom of your choice
let the rom boot and then go back into twrp and install gapps found here: "http://bit.ly/1JOWjUqi recommend nano or even pico pick am64 7.1
I would also recommend installing Galactic forced deepsleep http://bit.ly/2ANVdbS
Hey there,
thank you very, very much for your comprehensive walkthrough! (Almost*) everything worked to perfection and I am now a happy user of OpenKirin's OmniROM 6.0.3. mod! Yeah, no 7.x... but I'd prefer to wait with that until the "issues" section of AOSPA does not contain any relevant things anymore. OmniROM seems to have no issues anymore, so I'm content with my choice. I will now follow your last advice and flash the Deep Sleep Mod to improve my device's battery life, and then I'm just happy.
* = The only issue I encountered was when having flashed TWRP, the device booted to the crappy EMUI eRecovery instead of TWRP. I solved this issue using this advice from another thread.
So, once again, thank you! All you xdaDevs, keep on developing ways to improve people's lives with their android devices!
Cheers,
Pako
