Okay so this is kind of an idea/request I guess. I wish that someone would make some type of root that would make the Fingerprint sensor on the galaxy s5 function like the one on the Galaxy s6. Anyone else agree? If so reply or if there is already one please reply as well.
i dont agree. but thats mostly because i understand how hardware works.
its like asking for a file that makes a hdd into an ssd
its not the way it works

It's not the best way to start your xda career...
I think the s5 fingerprint sensor isn't capable of performing like that, I could be wrong.
Well I don't know, it could be done. New to this whole forum thing.
I think we can't do anything else than the swipe, but lockr or hi locker wich supports fingerprint is more easy.... Perhaps less secure, but it's easiest to unlock!!
I just thought that there could be a way to change it works. Eh, sorry I'm not good at this kind of stuff.

Hardware limitations basically limit how much software can do. Not much you can do if the fingerprint scanner itself works differently to the S6 one.
Correct me if I am wrong but with the right knowledge if you are able to alter the hardware application layer of the touch input for the finger print swipe you would be able to register the touches. I'm not 100% sure how to do it but there might be some sort of hardwares software help somewhere in wilderness

there are 2 point regarding your topic ...
but first there is NO WAY the sensor can behave like s6 ... let me tell you how both works :
the galaxy s5 has a like motion-detection based sensor it gets input when you wipe not just press or touch thats number 1
number 2 all what you can do about it is limit the number of inputs the sensor records this may ease up the detection process
like in fingersecurity its a bit faster but you will have to swipe anyway the the system's but it has its drawbacks since the input signals are lower the effeciency of the sensor is becoming lower and by that i mean it might mix up and work with an anonymous person trying to unlock
i hope you got my point
Well I did say correct me cheers for the input haha.

Does it work for S-pen writing some memos as well? It would be serious improvement if that's the case.

mmmm.. WIll have to test that out.
S-pen doesn't have that problem
And the patch doesn't work in the note.
Are there others who are experiencing this problem on their Note?

No. I've been doing pinch-zoom's in Gallery (which was where I noticed it from the SGS2) and don't notice any delays in finger recognition.

Alright that's good to hear. The problem might not affect all handsets.
Confirm the problem is there and even the app doesn't solve this, but I didn't really notice. S-pen in SMemo doesn't seem to be affected, but reducing to 0 the hyst still gives the "sticky" behaviour, which maye, or may not, be a con depending on the various uses.
so the way to confirm the problem if i understand correctly is to install the mentioned app and test for jumps in coordinates ?
Gnote
I have had my Gnote for 25 days, my device is way to sensative in certain areas of the screen with the S-pen only. i can hold my S-pen 10mm away from the screen and it will activate the apps or words. it gets annoying when im on a rush taking notes, it sometimes quadruple clicks on apps, i stop using my S-pen and get my screen dirty with natural oil smudges. Kinda Lame. Any way i am going to AT&T today to test a different S-Pen, or switch Devices.... Does anyone like the White GNote Vs. Black/ or blue?
Hi, I am now having a Note with S-Pen inaccuracy that makes me difficult to draw anything precise.
I wanna ask, did anyone having this problem tried to use the customized ROMS ? Does the problem solved? like Thunderbolt ?
Thanks
hi, same problem here, but my note is laggy too :/ . I will go exchange it
Can you elaborate? How bad is it?

Are you sure you're using it right?
hold the pen at 20-40 degree angle.
At first, don't have the pen flat on a table, hold it so the gyros know what direction the note is held.
And make sure the handedness is set correctly in settings

Hi there guys, made a small jump from the HTC One to the Galaxy S4 Snapdragon Model as im in the UK. In short Samsung needs to work on its software, as in real life and not benchmarks the S4 seems to be much slower! Anyway, I just had some questions that I would like to ask
1] Is there any way to make the default keyboard correct spelling mistakes? Im not keen on downloading keyboards and im beggining to get used to this one, however one major change between this and the HTC is that on speed typing my words wont be corrected. Its very annoying as sometimes I have to go back and correct things, and from what I can see it doesnt insert punctuation either. If it doesnt have these features, I would be shocked, as in 2014 having a spell checker seems like the basic fundamentals for a keyboard on a smartphone.
2] What is the magic behind the way I am able to interact with the lockscreen without touching it? Holding my finger a cm away creates a really cool effect. Just wondering what magic hardware enables this, at first I thought a thermal sensor but obviously not.
3] Is it normal for white lines to stutter during scrolling? To replicate this, go to settings and scroll down on any page.
I think thats about it from now. The only thing I miss is smoothness and those dual speakers thanks in advance!

This is a super cool feature that's exclusive to the Note 5 for no good reason... I'd love to be able to take scrolling screen shots on my edge+ but I'm not aware of a way to do that.
Does anyone know if there's a way to port this apk or something? Thanks everyone!

It is already on your phone as Screen Write and all the libs are there too, but you need a pen to activate it which you can't since s pen doesn't work with your device

Oh that sucks... Thanks for letting me know!!
Hello everyone!
I just had a look at the new A5 2017 because I want to buy one for my mother and a feature that was very nice and useful was the active fingerprint reader. Just rest the finger on the home button and the device wakes right from the Always on Display.
I am running android N with the new Grace UX on my S7 Edge and i was wondering if there is a setting somewhere i can enable to be able to use this feature.
I know some people will think is useless, so is no need to comment for no reason.
A5 with new hardware... soooo nope. We dont have that on s7 edge.

That is sad. I was really liking the feature ,hope somneone will figure out how to add it later.
It's only a workaround, but downloading Always on Amoled from the Playstore is working just fine. Fingerprint is always on, no need to push it, and you get double tap to wake, plus other useful features. Definitely worth a try
it's the same hardware, only Samsung is the usual ****. improvements only on new smartphone to increase the sales

Already tried this method , but the battery drain is huge. Maybe someone will figure out how to do it exactly like the new A series.

probably sure someone will make a way to have the function also on s7, but the problem is that there will need root to work

Was going to say that having the reader on constantly may cause some form of wake lock.
