Actually i got this issue also on my nexus 5 but didn't know where to post it. since i got marshmallow it happens in messaging apps most common on whatsapp but also on sms. for example in whatsapp if i got a message on a group chat the first notification from a specific participant has notification sound but others from the same participant in a row doesn't. i do get the notification itself but without the sound. if one send message and another participant follows him i do get both sounds. in sms (using Google's messenger) if one send two messages in a row only first one has sound. i know it sounds real strange but this issue is very annoying.
your help much appreciated

I've recently installed Android on my HD2 and I absolutely love it. The one thing that isn't working 100% is the SMS inbox. Some messages appear 3-4 times and some are nowhere to be seen. Those are SMS I sent and received after installing so it's not a dodgy import. I'm using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Are you talking about SMS or message in box of your xda account or your google mail inbox account? You don't call a text message as message inbox. Anything with message inbox that's an email. SMS is to use texting to send to another phone. MMS is to use picture or a short video clip to send to another phone.
My bad. In my own little world messages are SMS. Yesterday's SMS all seem to have been stored correctly. Maybe it was a one off. If anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
Ty
I can recommend using GO SMS Pro as opposed to the stock one, much better.
I've played around some more and installed Go SMS Pro, which is pretty cool. The problem with wrong SMS display persists though.
I think it's when I send SMS via the voice command of the google bar, they don't get stored correctly when I look at them in the history. For example I just sent a message via voice command but the content of the messages in Go SMS is wrong. It shows up with the same message text as the previous SMS I sent, or not at all. I haven't found anything on the problem anywhere. Does anybody have any Suggestions?
Hi, I've noticed a weird issue with Go SMS and threaded group messaging. I was wondering if you guys had this issue and if there is a fix for it? I like Go SMS but my issue is when i get a threaded group message ill get two messages. One will be from the actual contact that sent it. After a few seconds it will disappear then follow up get included into the thread that its supposed to. After it gets included to its proper place it still has that same contacts old texts messages pushed to the top of the conversation list. So it acts like i got a new text (or a recent text) from that person. I click on the conversation is from a long time ago.
Same here! Bump!
Same here, I ended up switching to textra because of this.
You would think find much help here do to GO sms having their threads closed due to security concerns they refuse to clear up
Wayne Tech Nexus
hey everyone Using GlowFly, SMS Enhancer, and SMS Popup (all similar apps), and their Quick Reply feature, stock messaging and Chomp both show the same message going out twice (the recipient actually receives one message).
Anyone know what I can do to fix it?
i got nexus 4 4.4.4 runing mahdi rom ty alot for the help
The hangouts application is my preferred way to SMS and text. When I receive a message, I receive a notification like I should. After I open the hangouts app and then engage in further conversation, I get a notification sound after each message I receive although I am still chatting to the person. The notification sound rings with each incoming message weather I am in the application, within the very chat, or weather I am on the homescreen or anywhere else. The only way I've known to subdue it is by turning off the sound notification for hangouts messages completely.
I've had this problem since 4.4.0 update. Today after I flashed Lollipop I was expecting it to go away but it didn't. I thought about it and then decided to ask if anybody else have had the problem before.
Something I strongly suspect is when I cleared the "Google services Framework" in hopes of getting 4.4.0 OTA ASAP I might have messed up. At that time this was suggested by many websites which later turned out to be counter helpful and create problems with the GCM.
So, if anybody knows how it could be fixed, and I could get notifications in the normal way it would be much helpful.
Thank you.
Hey guys I have a bit of a bug since I converted my T-Mobile 6T to the international version.
With the T-MOBILE version I had the two sounds different from each other and when I received a text message vs Emails, I got the ringtones that I defaulted to. But with the international version when I receive a text message I seem to only get the notification sound and not my SMS ringtone that I have it set at. But if the messaging app is opened at the time it does default to my set SMS ringtone.
It's an annoying bug cuz when my phone is set down and I receive a text message I can't differentiate if it's a email or a text message.
Anyone with this issue?

I had an issue, after converting, restoring OnePlus Backup, I still had to re-assign my ringtones before they worked right.
I'm experiencing this as well. Converted to international ROM (beta) and that's when it started. It seems to be a pervasive, longstanding issue the more I look into it.
Can't change SMS notification sound
