Contacts not showing after upgrading to Cyanogenmod 13 (marshmallow) nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had cyanogen mod 12.1 on my device for a long time, yesterday I saw 13 update was out so I went ahead and updated it. Had to reflash gapps after update. Now everything is working fine and smooth, but my Phone dialer contacts is empty. I can see all my contacts in contacts.google.com, but for some reason it's not syncing with my device.
I tried clearing cache for Telephone app, tried removing and adding my google account again. But not worked.
Any help?

[Q] No more Google account capability on Nook

First I have to say I like the "similar threads" function, even though it did not help me this time.
Here is my issue:
My nook had CM7 with nightly 118. I had not used it in a while, so I tried to install 7.1 (which failed prob with a bad md5). I also downloaded nightly 153 which also failed...
I booted BACK and downloaded both again, but 7.1 still failed. nightly 153 went through though, but when I rebooted i got a black screen instead of the CM7 spinning logo.
I went back into recovery and installed my old nightly 118 and was able to get back to normal...or so I thought.
I tried to open G+ and it failed to connect, tried to open Market and it told me I needed a google account. I clicked on the yes button to add one and it took me nowhere. I looked under accounts and both my google account were missing. I tried to add them back, but I only had Corporate, Yahoo, and Facebook in the list.
Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? I assume I will just have to wipe it all and start from scratch, but I would prefer not to have to do that...
Thanks for any suggestions.
DnA
Are you running CM7 off the eMMC or a SD card?
Did you install the gapps?

This used to happen to me a lot, and the only reliable fix that I've found is to reflash gapps.
I don't know why it started, and I don't know why it doesn't happen to me anymore. Sometimes it happened when I reflashed CM7, sometimes it happened in the middle of routine use. It doesn't appear to happen to most people at all, but that might just be under-reporting because the symptoms seem totally random until you realize that anything needing access to your Google account fails.
Reflash just gapps. You'll have to sign in, and probably add your second Google account manually, but your data will be intact.
CM7 off the emmc, gapps already flashed, and I will try that! thanks for the replies!

Reflashing gapps worked like a charm! Thanks for the help!

Any time! If you come up with a better fix, please post it!
I had the same problem after ungrading to 177. Resintalling Gapps with only deleting cache did not work I had to reinstall Gapps deleting Data and Cache.
I don't understand what happened, but it all works fine now, so far.
Ouch, I've never had to wipe data to fix this, just reflash gapps.

[Q] Can not connect with gapps CM11 and problem with modem

When I try to login with my google account e.g. in play store it tells me, it has problems connecting with the google servers and that I should try again later. This is happening since 3 days.
I have installed CM11 after CM10 did suddenly not boot anymore. I tried several version, now I have version 20140223. I also tried several versions of gapps, with some it did not even show me the log in screen, they just closed. With 2-11_GApps_Core/Standard_4.4.2_signed it shows me the login scren and after entering my details the above error. The Connection to the internet is working and using a browser on the phone I can also login to google. I often made several wipes inclusing system and reinstalling CM
Right now I don't even get my contacts back on the phone, because of that.
Additionally it tells me after some time that an problem with the modem occured and that it needs to reboot.
What can I do? I search for several hours in the internet and did not find anything which fixes the problem.
Edit:
On CM10 I could already not connect to the play store anymore, but at least my address book was synchronized with google.
Use only core gapps. After flashing CM11, don't flash gapps, reboot, go to system and then reboot to flash gapps.

Thank you, it worked!
What I did:
Reboot, wipe the 3 standard things, wipe system, install CM11, NO wipe, reboot to system, reboot to recovery, install gapps without any wipe, reboot.

[Q] Installing any app makes the phone to reboot

Hey guys.
Phone is CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4) and Paranoid Android (Android 4.4)
What happened:
Phone crashed (screen became full of colors and phone restarted). After reboot everything on the phone was gone - GApps, all my apps, save a few of like a 100. Basically a fresh CM install without GApps.
What I did was flash GApps (correct package). Everything worked fine until I've tried to install an app. Phone immediately rebooted.
I've tried wiping everything, doing factory resets, installing older CM builds, now I've even installed Paranoid Android ROM. Still the same problem persist:
If I try to install any app from Play Store or just from an apk with I file manager - phone immediately reboots. The only way I can now use it is by disabling Play Store so it doesn't start to update something
Has anyone ever encountered this?
Is this the right forum to ask?

Maybe you just need to flash gapps right after the rom. I flashed cm without gapps once and when i booted back into recovery to flash gapps my phone crashed.
Doing them one after the other is the way to go.

Thanks for suggestion, I've tried that several times, didn't help...
I had the opposite after a crash on a nexus 4 over a year ago.. phone would reboot unistalling any app wether by play store or settings/apps.
after trying everything for most of a day, the only thing that fixed it was formatting the data partition.. not wiping, there's a format data option in twrp

Google play services stopped working & google contacts not syncing

hello everyone
I am having 2 problems with my recently flashed AOSP android 6 rom on my galaxy s4 gt-i9505..
I keep getting this notification "Unfortunately google play services have stopped working" and I dont know how to get rid of it.. Gapps are flashed so that's not the cause..
The second thing is my contacts that are synced with my google account are not showing up in the contacts after flashing the rom.. It synced everything except for the contacts.. I checked my google account in my PC to see whether i have the contacts or not, and they are still there but just not syncing in my phone.
Appreciate your help.

Google apps problem is related to the gapps package flashed.
Your contact sync problems might also be related to this.

Yeah i think ur right I flashed CrDroid ROM with Gapps
Platform: ARM
Android: 6.0
Variant: Full
Size:498.69 Mb
All the apps are working fine I flashed it about a week ago and didnt had any problems.
I flashed the same rom and gapps before. The contacts problem was there too but they synced later some how lol..
This time, I got the phone into a brick I think because of the layers themes.. so I flashed everything and wiped cache.. but these problems dont seem to go away..
So what do you guys suggest? I tried Gapps, the micro and mini variants because I dont want all google apps, and they both got me the same problems.

Do a clean flash.

PSA: Contact sync and MTP without USB Debugging on 8.1 final seems to be broken

Clean flashed 8.1 final and when I set back up, noticed not all my contacts synced over. Thought that was weird. Steps I took to resolve:
1. Go to accounts and turn off sync and back on
2. Reboot
3. Factory reset through menus
4. Delete contacts from website, waited for them to disappear from phone, restored and synced back to phone still missing same contacts on phone that are showing on the website
5. Reflash 8.1 again but same result
None of these steps worked to resolve MTP without USB debugging on to work either. Win10 laptop says the driver couldn't be loaded. As soon as I turn on USB debugging, works without issue.
Went back to 8.0 with dec security patch since they released that too.
Also, fwiw, post showed up on the P2XL forums with the same contact sync issue seemingly affecting people with the OG PXL, P2 and P2XL as well as me posting with the 6P so this is obviously a system wide issue not specific to a particular model. I also noticed my 6P was super laggy while on 8.1 final.
Well, just got done clean flashing 8.0 with dec security patch and those contacts are still missing from phone but show on the website. Perfect. Looks like it's a server side issue but at least MTP is working again without USB debugging.
If anyone is still having the contact sync issue, if you remove the google+ URL that is autopopulated in the persons contact that isn't syncing, that will allow it to sync. No clue what is going on but I went through all my contacts and updated everything as well as removed google+ association with each contact. I also went ahead and deleted my google+ account entirely b/c lets face it, it's useless.
Hi, yesterday evening I had the exact same problem. I did more or less what you did
1) clean flash 8.1 (+ TWRP + Magisk before first setup)
2) setup restoring googl backup
3) realized some contacts were missing (?!?)
4) checked on goggle contacts on the web interface and all contacts were there. Therefore, a sync issue.
5) tried several things as you did. Nothing solved.
Hence:
1) clean flash again (no TWRP and no Magisk this time)
2) setup restoring Google backup
3) contacts missing again ... Damn!!!
4) looked for all missing contacts. They were not so much, approx 10 over 480 (in total). I realized they was the ones connected to G+ circles
5) I went to the web version of Google contact and I renamed one of those contacts. Boom! Suddenly all the missing contacts have been synced.
I do not really know if this is a general solution. At least it worked for me. That's why I'm sharing my experience.
Edit: I forgot to say that, at the end of the process, I rebooted into the bootloader, I installed TWRP and then flashed Magisk. All is working good since then.
