Help getting rid of a keylogger - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not knowing what i was doing i tried rooting my verizon gs5(before finding out my version won't allow it)
few months later i've gotten my card stolen twice and only when i've entered it on my phone. I tried using AVAST to scan for stuff on it but i haven't gotten a return.
thread on reddit for full details /r/techsupport/comments/3yy0g0/help_i_have_acquired_a_keylogger_on_my_android/
Can anyone help me figure this out? or where to post to get the best help for this.
Thanks

download a file explorer and just look for where the files are stored and delete them i wasnt able to go to the website but thatd be my best idea

The simplest way to get rid of the kyelogger would be a factory reset, and if you're resetting you might as well flash a stock tar and to be safe, otherwise you could try and find the keylogger but by the time you find it it might have been quicker to just reset it and restore.

[Q] MF3 Need to Factory Reset & Root!

This is my first post on here, but I've used these forums before to root my S3 and at one time my current S4. My problem is with MF3... I used
this post [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387577] to root my phone once, but since I couldn't install TWRP or CWM, I thought I could downgrade the software version with Odin. Well, I was wrong, and I unrooted my phone in the process... Upon trying the same technique I mentioned earlier, it now says "permission denied" upon entering the first prompt <<cd /mnt/extSdCard>>
AND, I can't use Odin to factory reset. Using posts such as this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZTTTk7vbVM] doesn't seem to work either. When putting my phone into download mode, I pull up Odin, and select the file in the link (the software file .tar I think), it says it fails shortly after starting.
Really, I need help with two things:
1. Obtaining root access
2. Resetting phone to factory settings
I might not have to do a factory reset, but I've noticed my wifi will NOT enable since I unrooted and this is a big concern for me. I know that all my troubles are because the bootloader is locked (and I'm messing with stuff I don't fully understand...), which is why I'd like help obtaining root again in the final hope that Safestrap [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448925] is the answer I'm looking for so I can use my favorite ROM, LiquidSmooth!
PLEASE help me any way you can! I've tried to provide as much information as I can think of, but I'm new to this stuff, so bear with me. I have no real experience in rooting and whatnot, but so far, I've followed directions by users of this forum, so I have faith that there's a solution to this mayhem. Thanks for any help you can provide! =)
Your first mistake was not reading about what you can and can not do while on mf3. Your second was trying to put a recovery on. And your third was trying to use Odin to down grade your firmware.
I'm surprised your not having issues booting. The only way right now to get your phone back to normal is to see if best buy will flash the mf3 firmware for you
Edit, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45359306

I guess you're trying to be helpful, but your condescending tone isn't helping. I READ everything, I just don't UNDERSTAND everything... The second paragraph actually provided some help, so thanks for that. I was just hoping for something I could do myself to re obtain root so that I can try the Safestrap method I provided in my original post. I will post a reply to the root method post and see if anyone can help me there, since that's my main issue is not being able to get root access back. I don't have any problems booting though, only when I boot into recovery mode do I get a loop in which I just have to get to the Samsung warning screen and select "cancel (reboot phone)". Thanks for reading this and providing some direction.

No, your main issue is that you don't understand what you are reading and you shouldn't be doing anything to your phone until you do. Dozens of people just like you pass through this forum everyday with similar issues because they didn't read or take the time to understand what it was that they did read. Someone takes the time to tell them to read and learn and they don't listen or think they don't have to. Then, they screw their phones up and come back here crying for help. So it's not a condescending tone, it's people getting tired of the same crap. You admitted that you didn't understand everything you read so why would you do anything to your phone before you do understand it? Can you not see the problem?

CPUID?

Ok guys I was given this A500 after my brother in law passed away. It is bricked. It will get stuck at the acer boot screen. I have to get the cpuid so I can unlock it but I don't know how to retrieve it. Can anyone help me please. I'm about to pull the last of my hair out. Then it will be on to the beard and I would rather not go there. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If it's got an ext sd card check to see if there's a " clockwork mod/backup " folder on it. Yr cpuid is stored in a txt file in the backup folder. And is by far the easiest way to get it....
If there isn't - you will need to follow the Linux procedure to retrieve it, as fergs did.
The update.zip method "may" work, you can find one in the root guide to use and instructions as well.
Good luck chap!!

There was no card in it when I got it.. He wasn't very tech say so it should be stock. From what I can tell it has the stock bootloader. I have tried us be view and can find nothing that looks right I read somewhere that it would only work if the tablet was hooked to my computer before it went bad. It wasn't as it wasn't mine when it worked. We. It quit on him he went and got another brand tablet and just said this one was junk but wouldn't give it up. I am trying to fix it for my inlaws. I'm not the best at this stuff either but have done a lot of reading. Some stuff makes sense others dont. I have tried multiple times and multiple stock rooms through the update.zip way.

Hmmm was worth a shot for the ext sd card...update.zip was a long shot, usually these issues can only be resolved with a manual nvflash method...this will also determine if the tab is one of those with a faulty memory chip in which case it is toast
But to find out you will need the cpuid - there is a guide stickied in the General forum by 'srbeen' on how to use linux to retrieve your cpuid. I am no help with this as I've never had to use it and I'm illiterate in regards to llinux. Have a read thru the thread and see what you think.. @*fergs* might be able to help you out if you ask him nicely
good luck with it

Thanks but I don't have Linux nor do I know how to use it either. I usually root my phones but that's about it. Maybe change little stuff so I've never needed to use it. Guess I better learn huh. I have read about the memory chips I'm hoping it's not toast. Don't wanna dish out the cash for a new one.

Flash to stock through twrp

Maybe I'm blind but I've looked through all the relative threads and can no longer find a way to do this. I need to turn in my phone so I can upgrade and my hard drive went out a month ago and have yet to get it fixed. I'm not concerned about the BL locking but do need it back to stock everything. Could anyone hook me up with a flashable or imgs installable through twrp? Or if you know where I could find them would you point me that way? Any help is appreciated. I'm on the Tmo h918.

SM-S727VL Root and Recovery

I cannot for the life of me get this phone rooted or a recovery installed. Odin always fails and ADB doesn't recognize the device. Does anyone have any info on rooting this device? I really just want to at least be able to update this thing to nougat.
Nobody knows much about this device since it's not that popular. Some team named TWRP builder built a twrp for the SM-S727VL but it cannot be flashed even when converting to .tar.md5 or .tar.
Also I believe the bootloader on this phone is locked and CROM service does not function (if I am correct) on this device. CROM service will show it being unlocked but it seems to be lying to you.

Well that figures, im willing to use my device to work at it if anyone knows where to start.
I have 3 of these... not a noob but not an expert...say Pre-elite lol. I'm wanting to learn how to go further than use everybody else's solutions to root my phone's if somebody can give me some advice as to where to start as in I know how to root put it that way I was one of the people back in the day with the Evo when it was actually difficult no worries most of them were fine but these files we keep flashing these ROMs these kernels these firmwares where does one start when a phone like this 727 VL is obscure supposedly and nobody is doing anything to be able to root them I have everything that I need I'm sure and if I don't get it. It's somebody point me to a person or in the right direction to get started on what I need to due to learn how to write for I mean what where's the first step on these I've always just use everybody else's files. If that even makes any sense to anybody and anybody can give me a hand or show me the right way I'd be willing to do the work from there on I just need somebody to stick up a finger and say go there.... I mean if we have a twrp written, and we have OEM unlock, then why can't one of us do this I've been around long enough I've read long enough I've never once posted in these forms but I've read them daily... I know I got the skills I just need to know which ones to use. Odin fails like he said, fastboot for some reason still won't recognize, I actually made it one step with one of mine but it has to be a little incorrect because the only thing noticeable is it pops up with vo LTE at the top instead of just regular LTE like this one I'm on now. I was able to flash it with Odin believe it or not with what seems to be possibly just stock S727VLUDU2AQG1_ENG_boot_boxwares.tar
BUT the point is I was able to flash it with Odin and also it did change something because my phone now says there's been unauthorized changes and it wants me to restart it all the time so it can correct itself however it does not, it stays whatever it is, yes I know this is pretty vague however I got to the point where I just started trying anything on one of these phones to see if I could get any kind of anything to work and it did.. kind of.
I will say the USB drivers that's you find every where now do not work you have to go back to looks like version 1.5.5 1.0 SAMSUNG-USB-Driver-for-Mobile-Phones-15510.
With these drivers fast boots if I remember correctly will recognize it when you do fastboot devices however it still hangs on waiting on device. I'm sure I got more information my brains just a little foggy at the moment it is like 3 in the morning and I hope I didn't break any rules posting.
I did try flashing from SD card with no success yet nothing at all just error after error. I have tried twrp however it's supposed to be for this 727 VL I'm sure it's the same one everybody's got because it's only in one place that I've found but it comes up twrp-3.2.1-j7popqltefnvzw-201 and it will not flash.
I realize I have been pretty obscure however there's no reason why if all 5 of us with this VL stick together we can't get it rooted because I'm not going to give up LOL
Keep up the good work
I to have a j7 sky Pro, we need to figure out how to get this bootloader unlocked I would love the links to any from builds or twerp builds you have for this j7POPQLTEFNVZW

I have a twrp that I managed to find on the internet but i have heard that it was for an older version of the phone. meaning it has to be updated somehow. I do know that the phone had a security patch update on June 1, 2018. I am currently trying to figure out if how to update the twrp or something, but I think I might need a little assistance. Because I am no expert ROM developer or anything of the sort but I am trying to learn, so I can eventually build a custom ROM for this phone.

Is there a way to tell if the bootloader is locked? (Sorry if I am asking noobish questions. I am just trying to learn.)
You can tell the Bootloader is locked because you get “Secure Check Failed” if you try to flash anything that has been modified. For example; The TWRP recovery file. We need root to bypass the Bootloader.
Allow
allow what
I feel like you're telling me to do something that's way over my head cuz I do not understand what do you mean by allow
I have read write access to root files now !!
I can now access all files on my 2nd of 3 J7s. I am attaching pics. When I try to duplicate and copy on my other J7 ,the factory ones, I get check file permissions access denied. However I've passed it on this one particularly. It also now gives me a security notice on the lock screen of unauthorised actions have been detected please restart phone to correct them. However even when you restart the phone it stays so it isnt temporary. I have actually even going to factory reset to see believe it or not it stays. So the next step would be one in which I need some input to know which files I need to modify to be able to install BusyBox Superuser and from their custom recovery excetra and we're in I believe correct me if I'm wrong.
Can't post pics yet so someone get at me here and I will send them to you to post. Or on my FB at Mighty.Whity.Titan

Can you please share the method that you used to gain read/write access? If you indeed have temp access, I can make it permanent also what firmware build are you on?
Absolutely
I'm not home right now but I'm headed there I'll be there in a couple hours I can if somebody wants to give you their email or email me because I can't post links or anyting I have the file that I used the wrong and I have the driver for Samsung for Odin that I used which I think I've mentioned in my original or previous post and by the way it is not temporary. This is permanent. I did a factory reset and it stays. I just need to know which permissions which file to go to to get my Superuser installed because it's still will not let me install that. But email me or tell me how to send it on here or something that way I can let you guys know or give you guys what I got. I'll tell you this I did not flash it with a v l ROM. I flashed it using a Verizon ROM the only thing that didn't work was my wife I which I think I originally and said back when I made my first comment on this thread I haven't done anything else I set my phone down and it was done clear back there I just didn't realize it. But it is not a VL ROM it's a Verizon ROM a v not a straight talk and my wife I would not which turned out to be something unrelated. I'm in no way trying to keep this from anybody because I know just how much we all want these damn things. But I would sure love to finish the job that I started but I do not mind handing over what I've got.

Root then LGSmartcard Service Error

Hi,
I have an LG V20 H910-10c (Nougat 7.0) and I am having an issue that I am praying someone can help me out with. I have already tried a Factory Wipe/Reset and Wipe Dalvik/ART & Cache and have Formatted Data to remove Encryption, etc..
Timeline: The phone worked fine in all aspects before Rooting it.
After Rooting it, I had this issue.
I then tried a Factory Reset and got stuck in a TWRP Bootloop.
I fixed the Bootloop issue with a Reset (Yes then Yes).
The issue is still there.
ISSUE: When I boot into Android, I get the following message;
"LGSmartcardService has stopped"
.....and I cannot use my External SD Card (TWRP sees it fine, I Flashed SuperSU from it).
I have Googled my brains out and simply cannot find any suggestions, except to perform a Factory Reset, which I did and that's what put me into the Bootloop and I reset the way you said and now it boots up okay, except that error message is still there.
I have not put any apps on the phone or anything. It's factory fresh (except for Rooting it).
I hope I'm not violating any rules by posting this, but the page I used to Root it has a REAL SMALL downloadable file called "V20-Root.zip" that contains everything, including the Batch files with the steps that they perform in them. I did NOT use the ROM, as that's ONLY for Sprint users and my phone is an AT&T model (Unlocked and my Carrier is MetroPCS). But I put it here, just in case someone wishes to bless me by taking a look and seeing if there's something to note. I am not a coder by any means. I do understand some basics, but I couldn't see anything that would cause this sort of problem. I did NOT install the ROM listed, because it's for Sprint users ONLY and I have an AT&T (Unlocked, using MetroPCS) H910. Here's the link to the page:
https://tinyurl.com/yacdendm
I really need my Ext SD Card to be seen! I use it extensively and it would be a real hindrance not to have it! Plus this is my ONLY phone (no landline) and I am disabled and must run everything, including my home network and laptop, etc. from it and I need its space for things I have to have available on my phone to do things that I need to do, so any help would be appreciated GREATLY!
Please Help Me and Thank You!
