I want to get myself a new SD Card for my Magician:
I will choose between a standard 1 GB SD Card and the SanDisk UltraII SD 1GB
First of all, does it really make the difference if i take the UltraII? How much faster is it anyway? It would cost me almost 50% more.
Secondly, can the Magician even handle the Ultra? Are cards up to 2GB even supported?
Or should I consider a bigger card?
Currently I've got a 256 Sandisk standard....
SD cards
In general you probably won't see the speed deference between the basic and ultra on a PDA, because of the speed of the interface.
If you use a card reader (using USB 2 interface) then you will see the speed increase.
Personally, I've just bought a Sandisk 1GB Ultra plus card:
http://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-(SD)/SanDisk-Ultra-II-(USB)-SD-Plus-Card---1GB
Will have to wait and see how good it is!
Apparently 4GB sd cards are coming soon, which should drop the price of the 1GB cards even further.

If you going with a 2gb card - go with the sandisk ultra... I purchased an A-Data 2gb 150x and it does not work.
SanDisk Ultra are good cards.
I am perhaps hours from buying HTC Tytn..and from what I can see maximum size you can buy is 2 gig. Compared to my pocket pc (which had an sd and cf slot), I can put up to 4gig cards in its slot. I am going to really miss having a bigger capacity for extra programs, and memory for files. If they do come out with a larger Micro SD,, lets say eventually 4gig for example, do you think that all it would take to be able to adopt this new size would be to to a ROM upgrade (update) or is it written in stone that the max on this unit is 2 gigs.
Thx for any input, and especially any enlightenement in regards to larger micro sd's that are on the horizon.

AFAIK there is no 2Gig limit and 4 gig would be OK, but lets here from others.

4GB is coming soon.. but will it work?

Anyone know if that will work on a hermes device?
Is MicroSDhc a different incompatible standard?
I dont think wm device do support sdhc system so we are limited to 2 gb or at maximum 4gb but no sdhc....
i will be more then happy if anyone can prove me wrong...
PS:just a note somewhere i read that the maximum possible capacity for micro sd is 32gb but im not sure is it obtainable with sd 2.0 specification (sdhc) or with standard sd 1.1 specification....??
SDHC cards don't work in normal SD slots, like the Hermes has one. There is hope for non SDHC 4GB MicroSD cards though, because there have been 4GB SD cards and now also 4GB Mini SD cards available, that are non SDHC compliant and work in standard Pocket PCs. So let's hope for non SDHC 4GB MicroSD that will work in our Hermes.

That's where th iphone looks good. Damn... 8Gb !
I may be buying the 32 GB card soon since I have too many programs (medical, games, applications, and especially super high-def movies encoded in 2,000 kbps bit rate--imagine movies like Avatar) that I am running out of room on the 16 GB card.
Has anyone use a 32 GB card that is fast and stable? Which brand do you use and how much did you buy it for and where?
Please provide the link to the seller. Thanks.
I guess the 32 GB is not that easy to buy.
SanDisk is the only one who makes them as far as I know. It came out just a month ago. Its $200 and only a class 2.. I'm holding off on it until a class 6 comes out. Check www.sandisk.com
Can tab 7.7 support 64gb sdcard? When i see the spec on web, it says upto 32gb, that confused me

Yes, a 64 GB MicroSDXC card works fine.
I bought this card at Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329538822&sr=8-2
and it works great with the 7.7 tab.
I can even format it to NTFS format and transfer 6 - 8 GB movie file to the 64 GB card and watch it perfectly on the 7.7 tab.
But I think the c/p value isn't worth of it.
2 times storage room than 32g sd card, but price is 4 times of it...
Micro SD sucks. Sammy could have put in a regular sized SD card, it is a tab there is plenty of room. *128 GB* SD cards are cheaper than the skimpy 64 gb micro SD cards.
Yep, works as mentioned above.
Sure you could have two 32GB cards, but myself I'd rather not have to swap them out all the time.
Hey guys, i'm looking to get the shield tv, I want to spend the less possible. The 16Gb version is on sale for 20$CAD less, so 179.99$CAD. And I found some 128Gb micro SD cards for less than 50$CAD. For a total of around 275$CAD I could get the 16Gb + 128Gb sdcard. The 500Gb is 440$CAD at checkout. Now the real question is, should i got for the 16Gb with external memory mounted as internal memory (how does it work for you? Do you recommend it?) or go for the 500Gb? I want to use it to run my plex server on it and all my movies, musics, etc.. would be on my external hdd. And a lot of gaming.
What would you recommend me to do?
I wish I went for the 16gb option...
Edit: since I hate it takes 2 hours to wipe if going with a custom OS and/or unlocking the bootloader.
I do have to say having 500gb was a good idea before marshmallow 6.0 and adoptable storage arrived. Now the 500gb is more optional.

It all depends what you want to use the extra storage for.
For a few games, I think you don't need the Pro. But if you want to keep your video library on the Shield...
Personally I would choose again: 16GB Shield + 64GB microSD + external HDD (for media).
But a 16GB Shield for 125€? I wouldn't hesitate!
PS: Bought the Shield on Black Friday for 175€ (remote included), the 64GB SanDisk Ultra (class 10) for 15€ on a later offer and the HDD (Seagate Expansion 2TB) one Black Friday earlier for about 75€. I don't know the situation in Canada, but in Germany the difference is of 100€ between the two versions (200€ vs 300€)

How does the storage work with a sd card? Can you put the full version of a game on it(obb, data, ...)? I'm thinking of doing the same for my media, but for game I plan to play a lot of my already bought play store games (GTA, Modern combat, Talos, ans other big games..) but I juste want to be sure i can have games on the sd card.
Cannot really say. My games are rather few and small. I don't even think I go to really use that SD card. Maybe the official Nvidia forums are better source of information about this.
You have to format the SD card as "Internal Storage" .. AKA Adoptable Storage.
Once this is complete you will have the option to install / move apps (or games) over in their entirety.
I have to point out though that I have tried a Class10 SD card and found performance to be noticeably slower.. Enough to the point that I decided not to use it... So.. It will work but performance may or may not become an issue for you.

This is your best bet if you want speed for your adoptable storage. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extr...nements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin:6518305011
