Hi,
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 and installed CyanogenMod 12.1 on it.
I flashed Open Gapps on it (I took Pico version for ARM) and I made the Wipe cache (I made a Wipe data before installing CM12.1) but I have big issues with it : there are a lot of errors like "google play service crashed", etc.
I came to the conclusion that I made a mistake with my version of Open Gapps.
I try to install TK-Gapps to replace it but I always have a Error code 40
On the TK-Gapps thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tk-gapps-t3116347) it's said that about error 40 :
#40 - NON-TK GApps Currently Installed: Your device has an incompatible GApps package currently installed
Solution: Read FAQ #7 for an explanation and step by step instructions to fix

But the link to the solution is dead !
Does anyone has a solution ?
Thank you very much in advance

Hello,
TK Gapps were updated long ago.Try a recently updated one. Here's one you can try opengapps.org
___
v7
XDA Assist
That's why you get error 40,
You attempted to install TK-GApps over Open GApps. You need to wipe /system and install ROM + new GApps package.
I'm using Open GApps Pico 20151211 and it's fine.
Sent from my GT-I9500
From what I've seen, opengapps is pretty much like Russian roulette. Most of the times you get a good package, but at some point you'll get a bad one.
Try tomorrow's open gapps. Maybe they will work. My suggestion is to find an gapps package that works for you and just stick with it. The gapps apps will be updated anyway once you have installed and booted up the phone.
Ok for that.
KrasCGQ, you were right. I made a wipe system and reinstalled the rom.
At first it didn't work but finally, i don't know why but it came back to normal
Thanks for your help

I installed CyanogenMod 7.2 on my Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537457).
When I first installed it, I also installed Gapps. However, as I do not want to use Gapps anymore (like Gmail, GMaps, Googlesearch etc.), I want to get rid of them - but I am unable to do so.
I did a complete wipe in the Clockwork Recovery, meaning: wiped cache, wiped, wiped batt stats, formated sytem, data and cache and did factory reset. After that, I reinstalled CyanogenMod 7.2 again, this time without installing Gapps.... BUT: Gapps are nevertheless included.
What did I do wrong? How can I can a Cynanogenmod now on my Galaxy Y GT-S5360 without Gapps?
(Forgive me if I used wrong terminology etc., as I a new to this. I did, however, spent a lot of time searching this forum and others to find a solution before I came bothering you with my question. Thanks in advance!)
if you look at the features of that rom it says gapps are included so I dont know why you flashed it seperatly
anyway
if you want to remove any system apps install link2sd from the playstore then you can use it to uninstall any system app you want
Thanks for your answer. I just realized that Gapps are already included. As I am new, I used another, more detailled, step-by-step guide, which used the Percy Rom (with the above link), in that guide, I was told to separately install Gapps... :silly: Thanks for the other hint, too. :good:
Try to uninstall it after you flash CM 7.2
Hey guys, so i'm trying to install the following items:
-SlimLp F2FS (Android L)
-M-Kernel_a73.zip
and
-Slim_full_gapps.BETA.5.0.x.build.0.x-20150213-482
I use NRT to get into TWRP and from there I follow the following steps (my system is already in F2FS mode which i reformatted from the existing Ex?? one)
Clean Flash:
Wipe syste, data, cache, dalvik cache
Flash the rom
Flash Slim gapps or L Gapps (IDK WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GAAPS AND L GAAPS IS and they take me ultimately to the same link so wtf)
Reboot
The main issue is, after the tablet reboots and opens up I don't see the play store, i don't see ANY google items and I can't install anything. It seems to me that the GAAPS zip isn't being installed properly. I've already installed the main ROM, then GAAPS, then the M kernel and nothing seems to work. I don't see any playstore icons even in the app drawer. Can someone please explain to me what i'm doing wrong? Thanks!
Can someone please help?
bump for a response
Hey guys,
Recently I flashed
ClockWorkMod recovery - v 6.0.1.9
Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightly -cm-12.1-20150706-NIGHTLY-mako.zip
It all worked out (with great difficulty) and the phone works fine.
However, I have no google apps. Coming from stock factory setting to a rom with no google apps is quite difficult.
So, i tried flashing the gapps along with the rom but i keep getting a status 7 error message and the installation gets aborted, the result being when i reboot my phone i get a plethora or error messages of all the google apps which stop working (i.e none of the gapps work).
I have tried flashing the following (file names) gapp zip files with no luck.
gapps-5.1-2015-06-02-15-21
gapps-5.1-2015-07-03-13-41
gapps-L-4-21-15
gapps-lp-20150211-signed
BaNkS-dynamic-gapps-L-6-21-15
pa_gapps-modular-mini-5.1-20150315-signed
Even the gapps link on the cyanogenmod wiki page does not work. ( i think i included that filename in the above list)
On reading other forums, members say that the recovery must be updated.
Quite honestly i am quite apprehensive to do anything to the recovery as i got stuck into a bootloop once and it took me a day to get out of it.
P.S i am a complete amatuer in this process, this is the first custom rom i flashed after staying on stock factory images for 2 years.
I really do need help, as no other rom works well except the cm 12.1 and itwould be absoutely brilliant if i have the google apps too!
Thanks in advance.
solution found
Hey there, I have the s4 (GT-i9505)
I had the same problem until today and I have found the solution to it,
I updated my cm12.1 nightly to 20150706,
Downloaded slim gapps 5.1.x mini latest (20150706), [I searched for it on Google]
Tried flashing the cm and then the gapps but it didn't work, and gave me all the errors of apps that have stopped which was very annoying.
So then I did a little research and figured out that I was using twrp v2.6.0.0 which was quite old , so I never gapps after the root. So then I updated it to the latest version by connecting my phone to the PC in download mode and downloaded the twrp v.2.8.0 (latest) and recovery booted my phone.
Factory reseted my phone, installed both the cm12.1 and gapps by selecting the zip files and then flashing them. Wiped the dalvik cache. Finally rebooted my phone.
And to my surprise it actually worked. Thank god that now I have the play store and all the other apps without any annoying popups.
I'm on my phone so I can't seem to be able to upload any links .
I'm sorry you gotta have to search on Google for the download links.
Have fun buddy. Hope it works on your nexus 4. Enjoy !!
Got it working!!
So, followed some forums ( including mehsan23) and updated my custom recovery. The most surprising thing is that you can do this by downloading zip files of the latest cmw recovery and flash them on to your existing recovery and the recovery automatically updates.
Then flashed the gapps on cm12.1 wiki page and it worked! So relieved! However the Google app crashes but its alright I can do without it.
Thanks guys!!
P.s thanks again mehsan23
Hey Gang - I've got an issue here getting opengapps installed into marshmallow.
Background - N10 needed a refresh - we officially updated a few times (from 4.x to 5.0 to 5.1,etc) and by the end, the tablet was taking forever to reboot (updating or optmizing 160+ apps every boot), so I finally decided to start fresh. I though.. why not marshmallow.
I followed the guide here:
http://www.techtimes.com/articles/9...ndroid-6-0-marshmallow-on-google-nexus-10.htm
Basically unlocked the tablet, installed twrp and then embarked. I diverted from the original instructions to use 2.8.7.0 and used latest. (3.0.2.0)
the marshmallow image referenced in the link installed well and the system boots/runs much better... my problem comes with installing opengapps from twrp. I downloaded the arm/6.0/stock version and pushed to file system with adb, then tried an install from twrp. It seems the opengapps installer (20150519) performs a software check to ensure the version of gapps is compatible with the version on Android. My problem is that it seems to be verifying against the recovery kernel and not the installed kernel.
I have the understanding that the load I installed is in fact 6.0, however it appears that twrp is built from 5.1.1 and the openGapps installer queries (I think) the twrp kernel, then determines that it cannot install. I get an error 20 message and specific dialogue that says the
"This GApps pkg is for Android 6.0.x ONLY
Please download the correct version for
your ROM: 5.1.1 (SDK 22)."
It then fails and returns me to TWRP. So next I tried the TWRP version (2.8.7.0) specified in the techtimes link I referenced above, and I get a similar error except ROM 4.4.4 SDK (19).
So it would appear that Gapps is checking local runtime only.
Is there any to fix this, or is it something I am doing wrong?
Help please!
Same problem here.

The error is telling you the problem. You are on 5.1.1 and trying to flash a gapps for 6.0. either upgrade your rom to a 6.0 rom or flash gapps for 5.1.1

Then why does the SDK version reported by the opengapps installer change when changing the TWRP version, but not when changing the Android version installed on the device?

The only reason the gapps version would be different is if you are flashing different versions. TWRP does not change the version and it does not have a kernel. Sometimes opengapps doesn't seem to play well with TWRP on this device. You could try Khaon's TWRP and / or a different gapps version like Bank's.

I am having the same problem twice - 1) When I try to install 7.1.x it states I need to install version 6.0.1.
2) When I try to install 6.0.1 it states I need to install version 7.1.x.
Error 20 each time and it's Lineage 14.1 for Nexus 7 I am attempting to install them in (which is Android 7.1.2).
In addition I am now again (upon 3rd install attempt) being shown error 70, but I (having had it resize the system partition) have more than enough space for as much: (this website is blocking me from posting a link to the photo so simply change the following to the correct format) (drive.google(dot com)/open?id=1aaCiOwzoGRgrZPkJPuEj3jQOc-3hgnH3) so this doesn't make sense...
What now must be done to install this apps application?
I have tried all possible versions of Gapps. None of them install. What must be done in addition to this topic's early post is what I am unclear about. Those instructions claimed that increasing the size of the system partition would do the job, yet did nothing of the sort. I even tried reinstalling the OS, following the instructions here then again attempting to install all forms of the Gapps application, but yet again none would install.
Gapps problem
I faced same issue, gapps error return by 20.

Not to revive a dead thread, but since I've had the same issue as the last post, and resolved it on the same device, Nexus 7 (2013 flo 16 gb) I thought I'd chime in to tell how I worked around it for that device. I could not install any Android 9 ROM that would allow me to install any Open GApps without getting that aforementioned error 70 in TWRP. I finally tried the combination of AICP (unofficial) based on Pie [AOSP Extended (unofficial) also worked] and GApps for Android 9 arm Pico. That version of GApps and either of those two ROMs allow me to get the Nexus 7 running again with Android Pie. I don't know why that worked, but I should mention I didn't have that problem with my Nexus 7 deb that has 32 gb onboard, so I'm guessing it had something to do with the different sizes. I can run any Pie ROM on the deb tablet. I hope this helps.
I recently flashed my ROM to Resurrection remix named RR-N-v5.8.5-20170925-a6000-Final and installed gapps named open_gapps-arm-6.0-stock-20171022 then I installed some apps from play store. SOme apps like Backdrops after installation makes my phone to restart and whet it boots up it shows "google has stopped responding " also "process system is not responding" and then is restarts again. I tried reflashing several times but nothing seems to work.
1. Wipe Art/cache system, data, internal
2. Install HEX Firmware
3. Install 5.8.5 RR
4. Install arm 7.1 pico gapps
5. wipe cache and reboot.
Rom take some time to Battery Collaboration and Performance.
so keep patience and enjoy.

First, I would like you to know that you DID NOT follow the instructions correctly. INSTRUCTIONS said, you will flash Opengapps 7.1.X ARM not 6.0 Marshmallow. Links were already given but still you did not follow.
Download the correct gapps package - ARM > 7.1 > Pico.
Code:
http://opengapps.org
Dirty flash it but if there's still an issue, you can clean install your RR 5.8.5 Final again and flash the gapps 7.1.
Good luck!
