Before Christmas, I purchased a UGOOS UT4 and AM1 from official Ugoos site for my TV in workshop. Now it’s finally come to my place. As a UT3s holder I am waiting UT4 first of all, AM1 is my first amlogic box and I talk about it a little bit later.
Unboxing
It seems to me that Ugoos team decided to change style for these new series at all. I bought UT3s in wooden color box with only one sign “ugoos” on the top side and specs on the bottom.
Now it is mainly black and white colored box. All the info now situated on the sides of top cover. From info on the pack, we can conclude that box has 4k resolution and OTA update function from the box. From behind, I see Rockchip logo and main specs: rk3368 SoC, G6110 GPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB Rom and dual band Wi-Fi. On the other side, there are listed contents in the box. (Sorry for this photo, make it with my shoe)
Package contains:
Box itself
Remote Controller
Separate Antenna
Power adapter
Standard 1m HDMI cable
Short 2.0 usb cable
Manual
Pack seems to be rather careful, all the staff are in plastic, box is in foam plastic.
First steps
First pleasant moment is a new standard remote controller. I like these new, much more soft touch buttons’ action, unlike old UT3s RC. Good news is that new RC fits for UT3s box also, seems RC codes are the same. (Later I discover that RC codes are the same for Amlogic AM1 box too) So, if I want to stay with UT3s on my main TV I can replace RC with new one.
Ugoos team get back to metal in their design of new boxes: both UT4 and AM1 have almost the same aluminum box style. In the center, there is a plastic piece with led light under it. Connectors look neat and place correctly on their places. Rubber feet don’t scratch my table. As you remember, UT3 models were completely made of plastic.
So plug in the box and saw the standard Ugoos animation. First run takes device about 20 seconds. Box comes with Android 5.1.1 firmware. In status vendor software version is: 0.0.1.b build number dates on 12.11.2015. OTA function in system update menu looks familiar with my UT3s box.
Ugoos settings for this box not yet installed, it means I cannot control fan, led indication and box has no root from the box. I ask Ugoos support on their official page on Facebook about it: they said next OTA update will come with these settings in next few months.
Start screen shows us six icons: settings, rockchip standard explorer, gapps, kodi, youtube and google chrome.
Standard rockchip apps are also in pre-installed list such as apkinstaller, e home media center, game control setting, video and apps manager.
I don’t use them at all except file explorer: this explorer is rather simple and convenient especially after last Es explorer update, now it is terrible to use remote controller in it. There is only one shortcoming in RK file explorer: no alphabet ranging in files.
Kodi
For UT4 device Ugoos used last stable release of Kodi: Isengard 15.2. Then I saw that Ugoos implemented rockchip patch in this Kodi for hardware acceleration (Kodi-Videos-settings-acceleration). This patch should improve video playback and raise compatibility. I make several standard tests with KODI: plug in the box with my 5.1 Yamaha test 5.1 surround and path through with spdif – not spotted any bugs or problems. Also change file sources: first play movies from my PC then use HDD and micro sd card. Everything works as it should be.
Tests
I have already knew everything about RK 3368 SoC, however I perform the Antutu benchmark test and result is expected:
More interesting info I can get from A1 sd bench
It shows that Ugoos made a good nand choice. (In another review I saw that nand made by Samsung, cause I don’t want open device by myself)
Only after few weeks I can say something more informative about stability and working process, but now I feel optimistic about Ugoos UT4.
In couple a days I will tell something about Amlogic AM1.
I just received mine today. Looking for info on rooting it. Anyone done it yet?
Also, I've plugged in the USB cable between my PC and the OTG port but the PC never sees any new USB device. Clicked "Connect to PC" in USB Settings, made no difference.

Asked Ugoos support about rooting and other features. They told: "we working on that, soon you will get update via OTA"
Tronsmart RK3368 users also waiting for a new Ugoos firmware
Since first release already one month passed, so it seems to me we get it really soon.
I am also waiting for fan and led controller feature like on UT3s
I was surprised to see that it's got a 32bit android installed, not 64bit. Now it's no use to me until I get an ARM64 Ubuntu or something loaded onto it. I've ordered a geekbox in the meantime.
By the way - my GeekBench 3 results on this box http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/4953462
Ugoos team esterday released new 0.0.2 beta for UT4 box. It not comes with OTA, because they make one partition instead of two. Need to reflash using android tool.

Looks like a great update. Too bad I don't have any Windows PCs so I can't update my firmware. Amazing that a company can release products that run entirely on Linux but still requires Windows to manage the things. Ridiculous.
Have you been able to install the update?
I still can't get any PC to see my UT4 when plugging in the USB cable. I have booted up the UT4 with the Recovery button held in, and it enters the recovery menu. But still no activity on USB, I still can't use adb to talk to the thing. The PC kernel never sees anything new on the USB bus.

The New Ugoos AM1
Hi Guys
I received my Ugoos AM1 last week. It has Amlogic S905 with 2GB RAM and 16GB hard disk and the rest are almost similar to any android box. This also has dual band wifi and gigabit ethernet.
Rooting option is available under setting.
I tried some 4k samples etc, all works as desired including other browsing tasks. Nothing to complain. Just that my heat sink had come off and was making a clunk-clunk noise when I picked up the device during unboxing. I had to open and fix it myself. But no issues with performance. It gets warmer with more media consumption which I guess is normal.
Is there anyone tried to install Remix OS on this device if not what is the process to do so. Also if I want to get back to the OEM ROM if something goes wrong how to do that?
thanks

I saw thread on freaktab about it. Guy installed Remix Os on Telos box. He decided to reflash device back because of inability to watch youtube in 1080 in standard app and had some problems to get back using recovery. But if you have burning tool it should not be a big problem.

lilstevie - Open Source LK (LittleKernel) Bootloader + Recovery
What is LittleKernel?
LittleKernel is an opensource bootloader for qualcomm devices available from codeaurora.
Why LK?
TL;DR Version
LK allows running separate boot and recovery that are fully independant of eachother.
Sony use a special method of booting into recovery for their updates, this is not available when you are unlocked, and there is no button combination to enter this mode. As a result the common method to get recovery on Xperia devices has been to use an initrd that has a script to load either normal boot or recovery boot based on a button press. This is a far from ideal solution as when you update your kernel it also updates your recovery. If something goes wrong you are stuck needing a computer to reflash the kernel partition.
With the recent addition of TWRP support for the latest devices there have been advances made in this technique making recovery updatable it still requires the flashed boot image to support that method. This is less than ideal still as it reduces choice in what you want on your device, giving the decision to the dev of the rom you have flashed. This also leaves you in the position of needing your computer if a kernel update fails for any reason.
LK solves these problems by separating out boot and recovery to their own kernels with their own ramdisks like every other device, if you flash the boot kernel, recovery isn't touched and will be there for you as a failsafe in case anything goes wrong. This removes the need to have a computer near by in case of breakage occuring.
What progress has been made?
LK is operational, small bugs still need work and driver porting for lcd and notification led are underway.

Apache14 - Open Source Infrared Receiver & Transmitter Library
I have been working on the open source library for allowing the use of the IR transmitter and receiver on the Tablet Z, At the beginning of this project I believe there was no other project looking into IR functionality in community driven roms (so this project was started from scratch).
As this project was started from almost no information about the IR device / protocol ect. there have been many stages of the development, this was split into 3 very distinct stages, please see below a lost of these stages and the progress made.
Stage 1 (Analysing communications)
This stage was mainly finding how the information was sent to the IR device and in what form. It was found that the IR device was connected to a tty serial port on the qcom main processor (ttyHSL2 in user space), from this I was able to "sniff" out the data sent and received by the application on the sony stock rom. This data was analysed and all possible commands where extracted (Get raw data, Send raw data, send specific key, get version).
Stage 2 (Create native library)
After the commands where known a library was created (in C) to enable the use of the IR blaster chip, this was a lot of trial and error as it was very timing specific (sleeps / poll ftw ). This part was surprisingly easy and i was able to get a working library that enabled learn and send command within a few days
Stage 3 (Create a application for everyone to use)
Once the library was completed to a point where it was usable, an application was created making use of the library as a JNI library. As I have little android java experience this is probably the weakest aspect of the project to date. This app went through a number of revisions and started off as 2/3 buttons for testing (this is illustrated below in the picture / video section. The xda member isimobile took one of the revisions and made improvements to the UI as well as using an SQL database to store the keys.
One aspect of the original plan that has not been explored is the robotics aspect, however this is mainly due to the amount of work required being much more than i first planned on.
Please find the links to source code (for library and app) as well as some videos and pictures to illustrate the projects timeline.

zacthespack - LinuxOnAndroid Project (Standard/ROM/Native)
As it stands below is the current placement with the three parts of the project:
Standard LoA - I have completed testing of all current images and everything works as it should, when running stock you must make the system partition r/w but this has all be added to my thread. In fact, this is the best device so far in terms of smoothness and actually usability over VNC.
However I have also made good progress with getting rid of VNC and using the Android frame buffer for graphics out put, so it takes more to switch between Android and Linux BUT you get a much better linux experience. I hope to release this in the coming few days once a few graphics glitch with Unity have been fixed.
LoA ROM - I have also started work on the ROM, getting my read around the ROM git structure has been the first port of call and actually getting my mods integrated into a repo so others could build is what I am working on at the moment. As it stands I have pretty much finished integrating the required code to launch and boot the images within the ROM so no need for a stand along app, just pull down the status bar and hit boot linux. Also added the settings for it all into the ROMs settings menu to make it all feel nice and one. I have plans then to integrate Linux and Android more, with the final result being a free version of everything Ubuntu edge can do but on hardware that you can actually buy
Native Linux - Only just started on this now as personal I prefer the other two parts of the project as I like to still have android at my finger tips when needed
So in all while I may have not completed as much as other projects I do think my project has a lot more to do and is certainly not something I will be stopping any time soon. Users already have access the standard LoA and I have started to see more Tablet Z popping up as installing the app, we also hope to push a 'alpha' of the ROM to the tablet Z very soon once the git is all sorted so people could integrate LoA into other base ROMs if they so please.

sailnw - App for Sailors and Cruisers Using Waterproof Tablet
As I mentioned in the contest entry, the app I am working on is for active sailors and cruisers which would utilize Xperia Z's waterproof features and excellent form factor for use in salt water environments under way. At this stage I am collecting input from active sailors and cruisers regarding features and design of the app. Planning to have app flow and some screen designs in September. Also actively looking for project participants on the development side.
No forum thread is available for this entry.
rayman - Tablet Multiboot Manager
Goal: Create a multiboot solution for the Tablet Z.
The goal consists of two parts:
1) Ability to dynamically boot images without flashing them
2) A solution for picking the boot image to run.
Step 1 was completed within the first week after receiving the tablet,
and sources are available on my github.
Step 2 was much more complex. I first evaluated the solutions
currently available, primarily kexecboot(.org), MultiRom (TWRP-based
for N7) and petitboot. Common to all those solutions is that they are
overcomplicated. Some automatically scan for things that looks like
roms and some requires special made update.zip's. On top of that most
solutions are less than good looking.
With that in mind, I set out to create something extremely simplistic - the result is Hydra.
There are some minor features missing before it's ready for release, but the GUI and boot setup works.
Features:
* Auto-aligning grid of large, good looking icons for selecting image - currently a maximum of 10 images.
* Flashy buttons automatically created based on a target-specific image
* Optimized graphics display to ensure smooth rendering
* Automatically append required commandline arguments
* Read boot configuration from a simple boot.ini format - supports boot.img's and raw kernel + ramdisk + cmdline setup.
* Auto-boot a default image after a configurable timeout
Planned Features:
* Per-boot.img runtime settings - planned but that's for version 2.0
* Scrollable grid - allowing for more than 10 images.
* Automatically locate boot.ini's in a boot subdir on all storage units that are mountable. This means autodetecting available images on microsd or usb harddisk.

anthonycr - Lightning Browser (Open Source Web browser)
I've kept the source code updated on github (https://github.com/anthonycr/Lightning-Browser). A direct download to the latest beta is here (https://github.com/anthonycr/Lightni...s.apk?raw=true), and a description can be found on the main project page.
What I've accomplished:
- added a History page
- added better bookmark layout (fixed bug in full-screen mode)
- better full screen URL handling
- added some more animations
- incognito mode (does not record URLs visited or searched, and runs without cookies for extra protection)
- notify user of SSL certificate errors
- popup tabs now work
- fixed bug where certain sites wouldn't display until touched
- better full-screen video (flash is still partially broken… it’s Adobe's problem)
- memory management
- HTTP authentication
- multiple search engines
- ability to change download location
- text re-flow
- ability to import bookmarks from either the stock browser or Chrome if you are signed in
- text size

mamenyaka - Ubuntu Touch Porting
I am mamenyaka from XDA. My project is about porting Ubuntu Touch to the Tablet Z.
My thread is located here, and you can also check out the Ubuntu wiki page of the device.
Ubuntu Touch is running in a separated container on top of an Android kernel, so it is made out of two images: the device image and the ubuntu image.
The ubuntu image is provided by ubuntu in the form of a .zip file.
The device image is built by me, and it is based on CM.
To install Ubuntu Touch, you just need to flash the two .zips in recovery.
The journey
The first step was to build the device image and remove unnecessary Android components. Some hacks were needed, because some components relied on external parts of CM that were excluded from Ubuntu Touch and some proprietary blobs were missing too. And there were some modifications needed by Ubuntu Touch, documented in their porting guide.
After successfully building the image, it turned out that WiFi and the Camera didn't work.
The WiFi needed some extra binaries and the kernel module itself needed to be loaded manually at init (insmod). But the WiFi is now working, and that is the most important part. Without it no development can be done with the Ubuntu SDK, because it downloads and installs a lot of packages on the device that are necessary to deploy your QT/QML apps.
The camera was fixed partially by acquiring the right blobs, but the Camera app itself is buggy, I think. Maybe it will be fixed in future releases.
All my work can be found and reproduced by using my github repos (the ones for Sony) and by following the porting guide.
The future
As Ubuntu Touch is making the switch from being "just another Android shell":
Instead of booting into android and firing up the Ubuntu system after
android has booted, the new images now boot into Ubuntu and initialize
android inside an LXC container during boot.
the development will continue. Sadly, from 07-12 until now there has been no new porting guide, so the ports do not work with the new image (yet) and the development of the old format has stopped. Until then I am releasing updated images and experimenting with dual boot. In the xda thread I wrote a little tutorial on how to do dual booting with Ubuntu Touch and CM based Android ROMs, but it's not the real thing, but it works without the need of a PC (no need to flash boot.img via fastboot).

rydo88 - Tablet Z Smart House System
No response received asking for project update. Information below taken from project thread:
As for the hint, I’m going to start with two of them, as I didn’t add one last week. This project originally began as part of this prescient home and then I decided I could adapt part of it to be more fun than practical.
1. A great place to set down one’s drink.
2. Tabletop gaming.
What I’m calling the proof of concept project was put together while moving. It starts with a secret… I’m a bathroom reader. Okay, so maybe that’s not a huge secret (books and magazines strewn around the bathroom is a bit of a giveaway), but it’s not exactly a polite conversation topic. It was conceived while describing the project to a friend who pointed out that he doesn’t cook, but there was an alternate use he found noteworthy (i.e. reading the royal reports on the porcelain throne). Henceforth this will just be described as the book preparation device (or BPD to save some typing). The materials needed are superglue, a sharp knife (preferably something like an Exacto), an NFC tag, and a magazine that you don’t want to read anymore. Use the superglue to laminate a block of pages together, either the whole magazine or just a section large enough to house the NFC tag. The one I did was about a 3 inch square through the whole magazine, excluding the cover. This also left the edges loose, providing a more authentic magazine look, rather than a big mess of superglue. Once this is set and dried, outline the NFC tag on the block for the pattern to cut. Cut and remove layers until you’ve made a cavity large enough for the tag to fit. Snugness is a personal preference, I left mine so that the tag was removable, but a tight fit and some glue could make this more permanent. Sony’s native Smarttag software works well for this application. Just customize the options so that the tag (blue in this case) triggers the tablet to open Play Books. A nice feature of Sony’s application is that there are ‘end’ actions, so a second contact with the tag causes a second set of actions to occur. I set this option to return to the home screen and read the time aloud (so that I know how late I am to wherever I’m headed). Once this is set up, leave the magazine near your reading chair. Place the tablet on the BPD as you sit down and presto! Your book is opened, as if by magic. When you’re done reading, set the tablet down again, stand, stretch, and poof! Your tablet has closed the book, told you how long you were lost in it, and is ready to travel to the next project.
I’ll add some pictures and a video here before too long. Maybe even a witty/catchy acronym to rename the project.
Concept:
To utilize NFC and other features of the Tablet Z in order to produce a system which causes the tablet to perform actions in a semi-predictive matter.
Methodology:
I intend to modify items to produce convenient and unobtrusive ways of integrating NFC tags. This will provide the infrastructure for the system. On the device, software will be used to carry out instructions specific to the tag and other variables.
To put my sciencey talk into a more tangible example, take for instance the kitchen. What function would be handy for a tablet to perform by itself? The most obvious answer to me, is for it to open up a recipe. In order to accomplish this, I intend to create a stand with an integrated NFC tag, which would trigger the tablet to open a recipe app. Depending on the software side (which I plan on mostly using existing apps, as I'm not much of a coder), I would ideally have the system cross reference a menu that's been planned out (i.e. that you had planned for meatloaf on Monday night, the tablet would open directly to a meatloaf recipe). As a starting point, it will likely open to a random recipe. For anyone following along at home, the action should be easily modified on the software side. Perhaps some people prefer to catch up with HBO or listen to some Sinatra while cooking. The idea is in the same vein as the whole home-of-the-future concept.
This concept will be extrapolated to several rooms.Other planned functionality would be to automatically turn on the TV in the living room, play music in the den, set alarms in the bedroom, and perhaps a few other tricks along the way.
Before I wrap this post up, I'd like to say thanks to XDA and Sony for holding this competition and giving me the opportunity to create this project. I'd also like to say thanks to everyone who takes the time to follow the projects in this contest and hope that everyone has a bit of fun.

Everyday there are more and more Chinese gadgets in the market, but not all the products are able to stand out. However it is incredible how those devices can imitate the features from the known brands.

I would like to talk about the TV-Box iPPLi ip.i9, device which has the SoC Rockchip Rk3288 Quad core Cortes-A17 @ 1.8Ghz, being the first android TV device in the market with this chip.
By default the firmware doesn’t support Google Play, hopefully two weeks later the company developed an upgrade with some improves and including Google Play.
Specifications
As we can see in the pictures, the device has a cylindrical shape, which allow the camera to have a better view.
The box includes the remote control however I prefer to use a wireless keyboard with mouse through the USB port and it works perfectly.
Another advantage of the Android operating system is the easy control and manage of the device, it is like another android phone but with the limitations of the tablets without SIMs.
At the moment I am using it as a video player (multimedia contents in my NAS) with Kodi (the new version of XBMC) or video streaming with youtube, Netflix, ipla, etc.
Thanks to the rockchip processor it is really simple to root it, there are different tools which allow you to do that: iroot and/or root_genius.
The CONS points, but don’t forget his low price:
- Microphone doesn’t work or it doesn’t have it.
- Ethernet port doesn’t work or it is not enable.
- Updates from RockChip or iPPLi
The POSITIVE points of this great TV-Box
- The RK3288 chip, which is one of the best chips now in the market for this kind of device http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockchip http://www.cnx-software.com/2014/02/27/rockchip-rk3288-specifications-released/
- It is fast
- 100% compatibility with the rest of devices, smartTV, NAS, other mobiles and tablets
- High Definition in the TV, thanks to the HDMI port
- Possibility to modify the OS, a minimum of knowledge is required
- Additional capacity through the TF card slot or through the USB port
- Support from iPPLi (http://www.ippli.com/contacte.asp)
- High benchmark from AnTuTu 37881
- Google play supported, not all TV-Box in the market have this support
- Remote control: iRDa remote control, free rockchip android application, kodi remote controller, or my favorite wireless keyboard (USB port)
Quick upgrade guide
1.Download and extract the firmware image and upgrade tool (FactoryTool, Windows OS)
2.Start the upgrade tool (FactoryTool.exe), change language to English (globe icon)
3.Still in (FactoryTool.exe) load the firmware image file by clicking the Firmware button
4.Plug the AC power adapter to ip.i9
5.Connect the upgrade USB cable (with full USB plugs on both ends) to ip.i9 ONLY!
6.Press and hold the Recovery button (located under the USB OTG port) using a paper clip
7.Connect the upgrade USB cable to PC while still holding the Recovery button, device will now boot into recovery mode
8.Release the button and if you do not have USB drivers installed you will get prompted to install, point to FactoryTool_v1.31/Driver
9.Once the drivers are successfully installed, on the upgrade tool press the RUN button to start flashing the image file
10.Once the upgrade is done the device will boot to finish the upgrade process, disconnect the ip.i9 from PC.
Mine was all time connect to the TV, show I could see the process and when the gadget was booting.
I have re-signed up a new account, so now I have the limitation for the numbers of links, sorry for that.
Hey great post!
An interesting review, many times people just look at the good points I find good that you highlighted the CONS, and I guess maybe you got a defective unit? because eth not working or camera without mic... sounds a bit strange.
Well, thanks and good luck with it
hello friends. I some time ago but just the ippli I gave use. update it to the ROM that includes the store to google and because of that I have problems. the device never completely shut down. does not save. before updating this did not happen to me. Someone has the stock ROM ?? the original that has no store. thanks in advance. regards
Thank you!
I finally made it! Had to work on this about 3 hours, but the secret was pressing the resetbutton really hard. Was too soft in the start.
Though I have a problem getting Netflix to run. Really annoying. Anyone else got that problem? I can install the app, but the movies doesnt play, just buffering all the time... Popcorn time works, though...

What you need
A Windows Phone with accelerometer and compass (magnetometer). (Gyroscope not required - but makes every movement smoother and more accurate)
App Headtrackr ($2, full featured trial available)
PC
Opensource software opentrack
A pc game that supports FreeTrack/TrackIR or a similar protocol (e.g. Star Citizen, Elite: Dangerous, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and many more)
headband / hair tie / tape or something similar strap your phone to your head / headphones / headset (see pictures at the end for examples)
Video of head tracking with Headtrackr in Star Citizen:
Tutorial/Instructions also available as PDF and Word document here: www.headtrackr.com/instructions
And available in german here: www.headtrackr.de/instructions
First of
Please note, Headtrackr only transmits your movements to your PC. The desktop application opentrack then relays the movements to your game via different protocols (most commonly freetrack). I, the developer of Headtrackr, am not affiliated with the developers of opentrack or freetrack.
If a game does not support head tracking you have to contact the developer of that game and ask them to implement freetrack! I will not be able to do anything.
To test whether the game you would like to use head tracking with works, you can install the free trial version of Headtrackr!
Instructions
Setup
Install Headtrackr
Preconfigured download of opentrack 2.3 rc5: View attachment opentrack_2.3_rc5_d.zip Onedrive mirror: here.
The latest version of opentrack can always be downloaded from the official site here.
Please note: All tested versions will be listed below. It’s not guaranteed newer untested versions work with headtrackr!
Open the Zip file and extract it to a location of your liking. No installation needed.
Configuration
You can download a preconfiguration file here (right click -> save as)
Save it to the “settings” folder in your opentrack install folder and you can skip the opentrack config steps
Start opentrack.exe
Opentrack configuration steps
Select “UDP sender” as Tracker.
Tap on the “…” button on the right to select a port, in this example we’ll be using “4242” (If there are any problems with receiving data, change the port!).
If you have a firewall, you might need to allow this port in your firewall settings.

On “Protocol” select “freetrack 2.0 Enhanced” for most games. Some games only support other protocols but freetrack is the most common.
On “Filter” select “Accela”. Tap on “…” and set a small value for both “Rotation smoothing” and “Translation smoothing” as seen below. This will filter out any inaccuracies from the sensors on your phone and make everything smoother.
Now on to the “Mapping” settings:
On the tabs “Yaw”, “Pitch” and “Roll” you can select a movement mapping. At the default mapping settings there is a 1:1 mapping, meaning you have to turn your head 180 degrees to move the view in your game 180 degrees. (This of course is not feasible since you can’t see the monitor anymore).
For all three I suggest a setting of 100:180 (see screenshots below)
Now on to settings that depend on how you strap your phone to your head and on the game you want to play
On the “Options” tab of the “Mapping” settings there are the “Output remap” settings.
Set Yaw, Roll and Pitch so, that your character follows your movements. If for example your character looks right, while you look left, you have to check “Invert” on “Yaw”. Same for looking up/down (Pitch) and rolling your head.
(You can also use the small octopus as a test before you start your game. It should move exactly like your in-game character)
Click the “Save” button to save these as your default settings.
Whenever you want to start tracking or testing, click “Start”.
Phone configuration steps
Unfortunately Windows Phone does not allow tracking movement with the display turned off. Because the display is one of the biggest battery drainers I would recommend the following (however, it is not needed for the app to work):
Turn your display brightness to the lowest setting (not needed with OLED displays)
Turn on Quiet mode, battery saver and/or airplane mode. This saves power and also ensures no interruption while playing.
Headtrackr setup
Make sure your phone’s WiFi is on and connected to the same network your PC is connected to.
Start Headtrackr
Tap on “Configuration” and enter your PC’s IP address and the port that was selected in opentrack.
That’s it, now you can test your connection:
Click on start in opentrack and then on “test connection” in Headtrackr. You should see the octopus turning left and right. If not, your connection is not working. Make sure you have entered the correct IP address / Port and both phone and pc are connected to the same network.
Save the configuration by pressing “Confirm”.
That’s it, you are now ready to start.
Tips and Tricks
Use the head shaking feature of Headtrackr to re-center your view in game. Simply shake your head and one second after the audio cue has played your view will take your current orientation as the new center value. In settings you can adjust the sensitivity of the head shake detection.
Known problems with opentrack and games
Tested opentrack versions: opentrack 2.3 rc5 and opentrack 2.3 rc9.
Please note: opentrack 2.3 is still in development and not withour errors.
Known problems with opentrack 2.3 rc5
“Output remap” can map one axis to another. (E.g. you can’t set that pitch means roll and roll means pitch)
Known problems with opentrack 2.3 rc9
On opentrack 2.3 rc9 and higher you have to first click “Start” in opentrack and then on the phone via “START TRACKING”. If you start tracking on your phone first, the re-centering feature of Headtrackr doesn’t work correctly.
Known problems with Star Citizen
At this moment, Star Citizen is still in alpha. Sometimes headtracking does not work. Restarting Star Citizen, opentrack and sometimes your pc can fix that problem. (Tests have shown that Star Citizen works better with opentrack 2.3 rc5 than the current newer versions)
Problem: No Text-To-Speech output in Headtrackr
Speech for your language has to be installed. Go to system settings -> language and make sure of that. If it’s not installed you can do that there.
Examples of how you can easily strap your phone to your head
Why did I develop Headtrackr?
I have always waited for a viable virtual reality headset. With Oculus Rift we might get one in a few months/years. But I just couldn't wait that long. Unfortunately the next best thing (TrackIR) costs way to much for me (180€). (Or rather: I think it costs way to much for the features it delivers)
I already had a Windows Phone and multiple apps released, so I developed Headtrackr as an alternative to TrackIR.
You might ask yourself: Why is Headtrackr so much cheaper than TrackIR? It must be pretty bad.
No, TrackIR is so expensive because you pay for the hardware as well as the software. With your phone you already have all the hardware you need and only need the software!
I personally can't go back to playing games like Star Citizen without head tracking.
If you find any bugs, have any questions or have any suggestions feel free to contact me in the comments, per pm, mail or from inside the app.

hi i am trying to use headtrackr with my phone acting both as an HMD/vr.headset and as an gyroscope data sender for opentrack..
my problem is that i can get headtrack to work in potrait mode but not in landscape with screen facing my face..
would be really awesome if Headtrackr could receive an update to fix this problem it would act not only as a headtracker device for freetrack games bu also for VR games !!
i hope that this can happen some day awesome app btw

I noticed this problem a few months ago. I wrote a UWP version of Headtrackr with the goal to fix this problem and make it possible to work with VR games. The current version is still a WP8 app that can't work when it's not in the foreground, so it can't have any other app open (for streaming your pc's video output).
Unfortunately I hit a snag that I was unable to figure out. (Worked on it for 3-4 weeks) The sensor API in Windows 10 has this problem where when your phone is in landscape and you look in certain directions it suddenly changes axises and angles. I was unable to find any documentation on this issue. Why this happens, how this happens or how to compensate for it. It's one of the most frustrating things I have encountered. This problem did not exist in Wp7.5 or Wp8. I was planning on taking another look at it in a few weeks.
I was really confused, because I was reading everywhere on how this api is meant for VR and AR but could'nt find a single example that actually worked correctly without those issues.
i see so facing two problems here,
here is an idea how about adding VNC capability to headtrackr, this way there will be no reason to switch to a streaming app..
i also found this article seemed relevant.. especially the sensorbatching feature and readingtransform-initialize..
WP VR is really a lackluster unfortunately :/
Yeah, I solved the problem with background head tracking with the UWP app. That works by registering the app as an "ExtendedExecution" with LocationTracking as its type which allows the headtracking code to continue running while the streaming app is in foreground. (I also thought about creating a combined Headtracking and Streaming app, but for the time being that would take to long)
The article you linked is unfortunately useless. I read it a few months ago. At first I thought that would be the solution but in reality it doesn't change anything. Since then Microsoft seems to have released some online courses on the subject (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/mt715765.aspx). I'll go through them tomorrow to see how they solved the sensor problem.
Believe me, I would be more than happy to find a solution to this. I have been looking forward to try one of my devices as a VR device for some time.

Samsung Gear 360 Manager ported for use on (almost) all devices
LAST UPDATED: 26th April 2023, Version 1.5.00.1-1
Requirements:
- A Gear 360 2016 or 2017 (BOTH work with the same app)
- Android 5.0 or above
- A phone newer than like 2014. The Live View will not work on any phones with the equivalent or lower power than a Galaxy S5, but try it anyway
Latest Version Download:
Download
Important:
After installing, grant the app permission to access location in the background, in App Info > Permissions > Location > Allow all the time. This allows it to access the current WiFi network name while the app is not open, such as when you are actually connecting to the camera's WiFi.
If updating from an older version:
Please uninstall the old version first, since 1.5.00-1 needs a clean state for the phone gallery fix to work.
Firmware updates and Firmware source code
As of January 2021, Samsung have taken down the server that contained the firmware update config files for both models of the camera. Through the use of the Wayback Machine and some reverse engineering of the XML syntax read by the app, I was able to fully reproduce the firmware XMLs on GitHub. There is a new version (1.4.00.4-FW or above) of the app which can use these XMLs and download the binary files of the update from this forum post and install them on the camera. You need to set the firmware you want to use (or latest) in the settings (after connecting your camera) before the app will be able to download an update.
The Source Code is no longer available on Samsung's website, so has been mirrored on the same forum post. More info on what the files contain can be found on the GitHub repository linked above.

Connecting to the camera
A longstanding "issue" with this app is its tendency to get stuck on a "Loading" screen when Gallery or Camera is selected. This can usually be resolved as follows:
1. Disable WiFi direct in the mod settings, since it is buggy. Restart the app. Verify you have granted the app background location (see above).
2. Open the app and verify the camera is connected with Bluetooth (if the Connect button appears on the main screen, tap it)
3. Disable mobile data, any VPNs and disconnect from the camera's WiFi if it is already connected
4. Open Camera or Gallery. The loading screen will show, and the WiFi settings will open (if you have that option disabled, open them now)
5. Wait for the camera's WiFi to appear. Connect to it. Return to the app.
6. The loading screen should disappear after a few seconds. If it doesn't, repeat from step 1 (it sometimes takes two attempts)
If the camera's WiFi automatically disconnects due to lack of internet, then read on...
Fixing WiFi automatically disconnecting
On some devices the camera's WiFi network will automatically be disconnected by the phone as it doesn't have internet. This can be resolved in one of three ways:
1. If a notification appears asking you if you want to stay connected, tap it and say yes. This decision will be remembered and it will no longer disconnect.
2. If you are running Android 8.0 or above, run
Code:
adb shell settings put global captive_portal_mode 0
3. If you are running Android 7.x or below, run
Code:
adb shell settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
Please note that options 2 and 3 will disable Captive Portal detection, if you wish to re-enable this then run the same command but with 1 in place of 0.
Known Issues:
- Live Broadcast doesn't work on 2016 camera or when using Soft AP. Cannot be fixed.
- WiFi Direct is buggy. Probably down to the app's mode being made for Samsung's modified WiFi direct, unlikely to be fixed
FAQ:
Q: What's the difference between WiFi direct/non WiFi Direct (Soft AP) mode?
A: WiFi Direct uses an experimental modification for enabling the Samsung WiFi Direct mode for all devices. It's quite buggy right now, but in theory allows you to update the camera's firmware (known to be dangerous, be careful). It also means you don't disconnect from the internet when using the app
Q: It's stuck on "Installing Samsung accessory service"
A: Install it manually
Q: I'm trying to use Live View/Gallery but the app gets stuck on loading
A: See the Connecting to the camera section above
Q: I have a 2017 camera and don't know the password for its WiFi!
A: Switch your camera to iOS mode (on the camera itself, using the menu). It will display a password, write that down. Switch back to the normal mode and continue as normal, entering the WiFi password you wrote down when prompted
Q: Does Live Broadcast work?
A: On the 2017 camera, when in WiFi direct mode apparently so. I've not tested it, and it doesn't work on any other configuration however
Q: What do the mod settings do?
A: See the "Mod Settings" section below
Q: There's a new version of the app on the Play Store, when will you update?
A: Check the last few pages of the thread. If the original APK has been posted already, the mod will be updated soon™. If it hasn't been, and you have a Samsung device compatible with the original app, please grab the APK and post it (the original APK is hard to get hold of)
Q: I found a crash!
A: Please post it in the thread, WITH A LOGCAT (don't know how to logcat? See here)
Mod Settings:
Since version 1.0.00.18, the mod has built in settings to allow a single unified APK. They can be found in the app's settings, under Mod Settings
WiFi Direct
Enable WiFi direct mode. Disabled by default as it's fairly buggy
Override Camera Recognition
Force your camera to appear to the app as a certain model. This isn't actually that useful, as it just causes crashes because of incompatible settings (default: don't override)
Always Show Live Broadcast
This is NOT aimed at allowing broadcast on 2016 cameras (they can't do it), but at countries where Live Broadcast is hidden. Enable this to always show it (disabled by default)
Automatically Open Settings
Automatically open the WiFi Settings/WiFi Direct settings when connecting to save you time (enabled by default)
Enable 4K
Enables 4K stitching and streaming from the camera, which may crash on very slow devices (enabled by default)
Porting Guide:
I don't plan to stop updating the mod any time soon, but if you want to port it yourself I have a rough guide available Here
Old Versions:
You probably shouldn't use these, they have bugs
1.5.00.1-1
1.4.00.4-FW
1.4.00.4 (without the firmware mirror, firmware updates will not work)
1.1.00.5
1.0.00.18
"Test" build 190617
1.0.00-2: WiFi Direct, Soft AP
Even older, pre-2017 camera app:
1.0.18-39
1.0.18-34: 4K, 2K
Thanks to:
- Bin4ry for the original port
Tools used:
- Apktool
- V10 Studio/Notepad++ for smali editing
- JEB for viewing Java code in APK
Disclaimer: You are responsible for your Gear 360 when using this app. Updating the firmware, whilst possible in WiFi Direct mode, may brick your device. It's recommended you find a compatible Samsung device and use that to update
Thanks to @Bin4ry for the original port, this is his OP from before work was transferred to me:
Deprecated archived post:
Hi all,
in the last days i was working on a port of the Gear 360 Manager app.
You should be able to use the app now even with non-Galaxy devices, or older Galaxy devices which are not officially supported by Samsung. I myself use it with a Sony Xperia Z5 without problems now
Mods:
1.) Removed device lock
2.) Forced 4K Video support, this way the app does NOT downgrade videos to 2k for other devices than Galaxy S7!
3.) Several Mods needed to get the app running on non-galaxy devices!
Requirements:
1.) You need to be on Android 5.0 or higher (App depends on API Level 21!)
2.) You need to install Samsung Accessory Service from playstore Link (they come preinstalled on many Samsung phones and the playstore may tell you incompatible )
Download the modified version (currently based on original Samsung Gear360 Manager version 1.0.4) here:
Update:
Version 1.0.10:
Force 2k Version : http://ul.to/5zsfz9mr
Force 4k Version: http://ul.to/kysjk5c8
IF YOU ARE RUNNING NOUGAT see this post of User Quinny899, he modded the new Nougat app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70377990&postcount=418
Known problem for this verison 1.0.10:
Make sure you allow the permissions (on my devices the permission are not requested automatically). To do that go to:
Settings -> Apps -> Gear 360 Manager -> Permissions -> Allow everything there.
Google-Drive Link:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3l36qXIC0HddDlJc3lTaEZPbEk?usp=sharing
Old Verson 1.0.4:
Update 20.06.2016: Even longer videos can now be stiched in 4k [tested on Xperia Z5] and some more bugfixes!
Force 4k Version : http://ul.to/i8ieooet
Force 2k Version: http://ul.to/uznv4asf
Drive Links:
Force 4k Version : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3l36qXIC0HdaWxxT3g1TU1sMFU
Force 2k Version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3l36qXIC0HdNXI4aF9SbEtWVFk
Make sure to download the file correctly, if you have any issues while installing make sure you are on Android 5 or higher!
Known issues:
1.) When switching to LiveView and Device browsing sometimes the app shows only "loading..." without doing something!
--> Please check if you phone is connected to the Cameras Wifi (normally Called "AP_GEAR360..."). If you are still connected to you homenetwork etc. please just manually connect to the gear's wifi and switch back to the gear manager app
2.) Sometimes the Samsung Accessory Service force closes while using the app!
--> If that happens go to Android Settings -> Apps -> choose the Samsung Accessory Service and click "Stop now", also go to the Gear 360 Manager and click "Stop now" here too! After that just open the Gear 360 manager again and continue working.
3.) Overlayicons in the Liveview are low-res and look crappy, i will try to fix that in a future release.
4.) On some phones the stiching of videos > 10 seconds will take very long time. In this case please use the Force 2k Version, 4k maybe too much for your phone to handle!
5.) Problably more, i don't use share to social media or stuff like that, so these points are still untested.
X.) If your phone seem not to support Live view you can try this mod by RostoVisualFX http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3471526
That's it for now. If you have any issue please make sure to include a logcat output for me. Without an log i cannot help you.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens to your hardware.
Best Regards
My Note 4 completely died today. No power, not even with USB cable connected. Not sure if the installation of the app has caused this but I thought I'd mention it. I haven't had any issues with the phone before. Could be a total coincidence, of course. Will have to send the phone in for repair
I have attempted to use this software with the Note 3, but I am running into some issues.
Whenever I click on live view it seems to freeze up and I keep viewing a black screen with the camera options. After about 10 seconds, the screen turns black and then returns to the app after 10 more seconds. I am unsure if I am connecting through wifi direct.
When I try to share a gear 360 pic or video from my phone, it takes me to the flipboard share screen.
I can't view images or videos from the camera. Whenever I click on the media it attempts to stitch the images together, but only gets about 60% done.
I am able to view images and videos which have already been stitched and transferred from the computer, but it is pretty glitchy and doesn't always work.
Thanks for your work thus far, Bin4ry. This will be amazing if it works on many different phones.

Hey,
that sounds very strange. But i cannot imagine how the app can cause such problems, because this is a normal userspace app and it does not have any access to relevant system files, bootloader or such. I can only think of a strange coincidence. Hope you will get your phone repaired soon. Maybe you some things, this guy tells a few tricks about the issue:

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Can you please provide me a logcat of the problems, like mentioned in the first post i really need such thing to be able to help.
Best Regards
I just tested on a nexus 4, it connect ok, but I can't see 360 folders or anything, I'll try to upload the log later.
Bluetooth settings crash
After installing the modded app everything worked fine. But now everytime i try to access the android bluetooth settings it crashes. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Strange thing. Try to uninstall the app and Samsung accessory service. This should not really happen!
The 2K versions opens on a Motorola X (2014), it connects to the Gear 360. Clicking on live view begins to load the gui with all the buttons and then the screen goes black.
The log is from the app aLogcat, hope it helps:

Thanks. But the logcat is not complete it is cut after the first startup lines. I need a full one where the error of the gear360 manager is shown.
If alogcat don't give you a full one please use adb logcat and reroute output to a file.
Adb logcat > mylog.txt
This creates the log file in your current directory.
Thanks and best regards

Saving and sharing stitched photos works. I do find that after viewing a few photos it won't complete the stitch or transfer. It almost seems like a buffer or memory issue of some sort. Restarting the app makes it work again. Video transfer still doesn't work (yet).
I have updated to version today (20.06.2016), please test and report back WITH logcats in case of problems.
With this version i am able to fully download and stich 4k Videos on my Xperia Z5, the stiching is as fast as on a Galaxy S7, i cannot see any difference there.
Also i cannot find any more bugs which are important
If on your device bugs occur please report them and DO A LOGCAT!
Without the logcat i cannot fix it!

Firmware-Update
Hello,
it is running on my nvidia shield. Thank you! But I have problems to use it to update the firmware of the gear 360. I can download the update from the net, put trying to intsall results only in endless "searching for update". Is there a solution?
Best regards
Caulius
i have heard that people are having some issues until the update starts, make sure that you are properly connected in wifi and bt to the camera.
Best Regards
Installed your latest June 20th 2k version on my Note 4 (Marshmallow).
When I save a video from the Gear 360 to my device, it crashes at 100% and nothing shows up in My Device tab after app restart.
However, if I browse to DCIM/Gear 360/ in file manager, I see the newly stitched video there. Now if I 'open with' and select Samsung Gear 360 Manager app, it opens and plays the 360 video in all its glory.
And then after a little while, when I reopen the app, it finally shows it there in the My Device tab.
There was one instance where in file manager, the final stitched video was appended with ".MP4.TEMP". I removed the .TEMP and "open with: Samsung Gear 360 Manager" and it worked.

This thread is dedicated to discussion, research and mods for the JAX SLX7786 Head Unit range.
What is it?
The JAX SLX7786 is a series of touchscreen Android 4.4 head unit. The most common size reported is 10.1", although 9" models have been seen in the wild.
The common characteristics of these head units are:
Specifications
OS Android 4.4.4
CPU RK3188 series (PX3)
Cores 4 cores
MHz 1.6GHz
RAM series DDR3
RAM capacity 1G
ROM series iNand Flash
ROM capacity 16G
Double SD card/MuIti-Media Maximum capacity: 64G
Screen Size Different Car DVD model different size (Edit: this particular one is 10.2")
Screen Resolution 1024*600
Screen Panel CTP (Capacity Touch Panel)
GPS module GPS/Beidou
WIFI Built-in(IEEE 802.1 lb/g/n)
3G Unicom/Telecom/Moblie(Adapter)
USB(Port) 3 pieces USB2.0(Extensible)
SD card slot 2 pieces
Moblie HD Support FAT/NTFS
Who makes them?
Good question. As far as I can gather it's a similar arrangement to the MTCB units; a number of manufacturers sell the unit based off of a central reference design. Who makes the reference design, and therefore who holds the kernel source, I do not know.
How can I get one?
The main place I have seen these for sale has been Aliexpress; most of the 10.1" units on the market seem to be this particular unit/ROM. The only other 10.1" units on the market (as far as I'm aware) are Joying units and pretty clearly marked as such.
The only surefire way to make sure it is a SLX7786 unit is to get the seller to send you a photo or screenshot of the build number under the System -> About page and check whether it matches the build mentioned below.
I think I already have one. How can I tell?
The easiest way to tell is looking at the System -> About page on the unit. If your build number contains the following then you have a SLX7786 unit:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
JAX or 885 as first three characters, and
Contains WQ-16EN
The full details of the build number are as follows:
[VENDOR]-[YY][MM][DD][HH][MM][0G]-WQ-16EN-[CARMAKE]
Where:
[VENDOR] = JAX or 885. Unsure why this changes from unit to unit, assuming different vendors.
[YY] = Build year, [MM] = build month and so on.
[0G] = String may or may not appear depending on model
[WQ] = Assuming this is OEM, like KLD and JY is for MTCB units
[16] = Not sure
[EN] = English ROM
[CARMAKE] = M6 for Mazda 6, ACCORD8 for Honda Accord, etc
How can I help XDA development?
Ask the seller for the most recent update, citing the bugs listed below. Share link with me via PM, or upload to Google Drive and PM me the link.
Do a full backup with Partitions Backup (excluding /user and /userdata), upload to Google Drive and PM me the link.

Music player: Yes, although you can't use steering wheel controls to skip tracks. I'm using Poweramp.
Home screen: yes, just install another launcher and it will ask you if you want to change launchers the first time you press home. Select the one you downloaded and click "always". Personally I'm using Car Launcher Pro and it works fantastic (and has on screen music controls) although it's a paid app. See the picture of my setup for a preview.
Hey i would like to add some technical issues i have with this rom.
1.)I like to confirm that you can not use the back and forward track buttons on other apps than the stock app provided.
2.) Under the car settings jax menu, entering the password 1234 grants you access to additional features. My gain controls in these menu do nothing. Bluetooth source isn't any louder, aux etc when adjusted.
3.)Was not able to change the default music app with a skin version or anything. (tried to remove via root, the installed a musicskin.apk in the system folder.
4.) Steering wheel controls is buggy, had to fiddle with it on different days until all the buttons are map, then no problem
5.)Viper4Android does not work with the stock apps (radio,bt, music, video). Works on some apps when i first installed it, reinstall doesn't work on some. Buggy
1.) Was able to root with KingRoot.

Hi bro,
I have solution for Audio output issue...
Today I found the solution, so no need to root anything.
While Mapping the steering controls., don't map -Vol.
Now my Audio output is same as my Original Car stereo.
Reason : I will post a video for this issue, because I cannot explain here...

Also if you know any app which shows both Audio & Video playlist in same app.

Your build seems a lot newer than the ones I have. Would you be able to back them up using Partitions Backup and send them to me? Google Drive links are probably the best.
EDIT - Don't worry about /user and /userdata partitions as this is your own data and not part of the ROM. Sorry, should have mentioned this before :cyclops:

Just a small update...
I've managed to extract my stock ROM from my unit using the Partition Backup tool by Wanam listed in the OP. I plan on uploading the dump, as well as the two other firmwares collected to date, to AndroidFileHost as soon as I get developer status approved there.
Also I have added some tools to extract the firmware to post #2. The Rockchip drivers are fairly useless at the moment as we don't know how to connect to ADB, Fastboot or U-Boot (the bootloader), but the RK3xxx tools are what I'm using to work these ROMs. Again, as you need to be a member at 4PDA to download these (which is a pain to obtain) I will upload them to AndroidFileHost at the same time.
At some point this weekend I'll be doing a 3-way diff on the firmware we have so far to assess whether they are homogenous, i.e. can be flashed to any unit. I have a feeling they are, other than the apks in /system/app.
If it is indeed the case I'll release a modded ROM with SuperSU and (hopefully) Xposed and Viper4Android preinstalled to kick us off with custom ROMs. My endgame here is to have a source built kernel and have the device booting CM13, but as I know 9/10 of sweet f*** all about programming in Java or building from source I'm hoping somebody with dev knowledge will be able to assist.
If not, I'd be willing to kick off a bounty to get a unit for a dev who knows what they are doing so we can get some up-to-date firmware on here.
Also I've noticed that @AbduL_PT may be able to port TWRP to the device; he has already ported it to a number of other RK3188 devices so he may be able to do this one. @AbduL_PT if you're still around give us a yell
Let me know what you guys think.
For those of you that are considering purchasing one of these units, they are now AU$363 (15%) off on Aliexpress from this particular seller for 11/11 day. If you're in Australia you can also use CashRewards for another 11.11% off.
Just bought another one for my partners' Mazda 6. Yes, our family has two Mazda 6s  mine is the Mazdaspeed6/Mazda 6 MPS though.

Kyle you are the man! Keep up the good work! :good::good::good::good::good:
I gotta read into backup the rom but then i can do it no problem.
I would like to note that i bought my unit a few weeks ago.
Also, i can listen to music while the gps app is open. Sygic, and iGo maps is what i used.
For those of you playing at home, I didn't realise that Xposed pre-Lollipop didn't require a flashable zip to install, as I only got into it with Marshmallow. Xposed installs fine on the unit with the installer from rovo's page.
I did play around with GravityBox [KK] shortly today, doesn't look like I can make the soft keys appear as I'd like though :crying: (as mine is installed in a RHD car the buttons are on the wrong side). Quite a lot of things actually do work though so it is running OK.

I also bought my unit not that long ago - 23/10/2016 actually. Given my car is a little bit older maybe mine is old stock as they're not moving them as quick.
Updated third OP post with information on system.img.
The findings on this mean I can cook a custom ROM and anybody can flash it, provided they back up their /system/app folder before installing and restore it afterwards.
Hi,
Small update..!!
I tried to access seller's files.
But I'm not sure the file which are uploaded in the month November belongs to JAX SLX7786 or not.
Please check from your side.

Now I'm downloading "4.4 885 B版 20161110.rar" firmware from the above highlighted link, I will update you guys about this firmware after installation.
UPDATE : The above firmware "4.4 885 B版 20161110.rar" has same GUI as I posted the below image, but this firmware is just a crap for my Honda Accord. Because I can see only Home Screen, nothing is responsive, it looks like Hang. I have tried to restart the Unit, but still nothing is working
This Firmware has different launcher, it includes Music player within the Home Screen. Also the music player is different.

Please look closely at the Home Screen

You are a legend thanks!
I can see at least three packages there that are for the SLX7786 - 安卓4.4老马六专用软件.rar (which is for the Mazda "Horse" 6, my car), and all the ones for the Accords, which are for yours. The others I'm not sure of, I'll have to crack them open and have a look.
In case anybody else is planning on downloading these, you can download from Baidu without having an account by using this Tampermonkey/Greasemonkey script. I haven't been able to get our device added to AndroidFileHost yet, so I'll be uploading the files as soon as I do.
EDIT - After some poking around I think I've stumbled across a repository for these units. Most of the units are designatured 7706, not 7786. Even more interestingly, there seems to be some files marked with a "STM8" designation, as well as a project file. Looking it up, the STM8 is a microcontroller that can be programmed for MCU use. We might have MCU source here, but I'm not sure. Somebody better versed in microcontrollers would be able to tell.
I also found a file with an update for the ix35 which might help the Russians I linked in the previous thread.
