MMS from Mexico w/Metro PCS - Xperia Z General

Hello All,
Just wanted to share the information with others who might be trying to use the roaming feature of Metro PCS in Mexico.
I am using a US-based Sony Xperia Z that is originally a c6606 model, T-Mobile branded, sim unlocked. Using this forum I was able to upgrade to Lollipop 5.1.1 using the c6616 firmware and instructions on this forum.
I was then able to root the phone using instructions here as well.
However for the longest time I could not send MMS messages from my phone while in Mexico. Only make and receive calls.
The APN settings had been downloaded automatically when using the phone in the US.
Based on a recommendation I found online, maybe here somewhere, I changed the APN to fast.metropcs.com. The automatically downloaded settings had it as fast.t-mobile.com. After making that simple change, I was able to send MMS messages for the first time.
Thought maybe this information might help someone else.

APN Type
default,supl,mms
That'll help with data and MMS

Wireless hotspot

Hi all,
I bought the AT&T Atrix 4G as I can use it here in Australia on the Telstra network. Is there any way / hack to allow me to use the wireless hotspot feature? Would be very handy; I obviously can't sign up for an ATT account.
I installed the new update, so I can't root the phone yet.
You can get root , go to the below thread, you will need to go back to the original 1.2.6 SBF, just follow the directions from the thread below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016060
You shouldn't need root to enable this feature. All you need is to add a Custom APN. There's several threads on the subject. The link below is the thread that has the instructions for creating the Custom APN. I also found some thread where users with the latest update have no issues with this as well.

Try searching the Atrix 4G General Forum for "wireless APN" for more information. I hope that helps
I read somewhere that ATT is going to crack down on this. I'll see if I can find it.
I know this isn't an iphone but I'm sure it's the same thing on their end.

i use my atirx in Australia on Telstra as well and i lost my hotpost ability with the ATO update to .57 now i just get the msg saying my account isnt setup of hotpot. curse AT&t's black heart
I'm using the Atrix on AU vodafone's 850MHz network. also updated and also getting the message saying I need to update my AT&T account. :/
I wanna know it too. I´m in Brazil, with TIM network and i can´t tether because of at&t...
had the same problem after the update, im in canada. edit your APN settings to add "default, tether" under APN type.
No luck with that Fido. i tried it with a couple of different apn's that give me a data connection and im getting the same msg. Feels like its deeper than an APN combo

are you sure you entered it right? i got that att message too before i added the apn type...the mod to get mobile hotspot to work is just using the right apn. heres how i set up my apn set up, i only fill out two things.
APN = internet.fido.ca
then go all the way to the last option
APN Type = default,tether
also double check that the lock icon next to your apn is unlocked.
fido ur right i just needed to add default, tether to my apn type.
u had a space in ur original post throw me off a bit but i have it working now hope this works for every one else to.

go to the development section, there are a few threads with the att tether info.
Hi everybody.
Had the same problem like most of you. I´m in Spain with vodafone and after updating I couldn´t use my atrix as hotspot anymore so googling a bit I found this app.: android-wifi-tether.
After installing the app you get this message:
No Access Control!
Sorry but your kernel does not have all necessary features for the Access Control feature of this application. Access control will be disabled
This is the only issue I found, but the rest works great for me.

APN on the Galaxy S3 for rogers

Hi Everyone,
I am new to Android. I just got a galaxy S3 from Rogers and I unlocked it. I am now using it under Fido. I have 2 major issues that maybe the forum can help me out.
1) when I got the phone the build in settings for Fido LTE did not work so I added my own APN and it now works. The problem is that is I take out the battery or shut off and restart the phone I lose the APN settings. According to Samsung the Apn is fixed to rogers and you cannot add any new APN. Is there a work around to allow me to store more APN as I travel a lot ?
2) I have visual voice mail. since this is a rogers phone, the visual voice mail program is built into the phone. So when I download the visual voice mail app for fido it tells me that there is conflict with another program in the system. Is there a way to get rid of the visual voice mail app for rogers so my visual voice mail for fido will work ?

Signed up for T-Mobile 30$ whatever plan today, and texting and data works fine, but if someone sends me a picture I can't see it, and if i try to send one it also doesn't send. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the software, user error, or T-Mobile. If it's in the wrong thread, feel free to move it. Any help is appreciated :good:
I'm also using LiquidSmooth ROM.
MMS doesn't work for me either.
I have T-mobile post-paid and MMS is working on Liquidsmooth. Does prepaid have a different APN?

It can take anywhere from 24-48 hours after you set up your plan for everything to work. So be patient and also check your apn settings. It's kinda tricky for the Nexus

MMS not working is almost always going to be an APN issue. Most carriers have different APN's for prepaid vs. Monthly contracts, so just call your carrier and ask for the APN's for your plan. There will probably be two, one for web and one for mms. Then Go to settings, mobile networks ( may have to hit more under wireless & networks heading), access point names, and enter the correct info. A lot of times there will just be an extra APN listed that you can delete depending on your contact type. Hope this helps

Locked APN Settings interfering.

Hi guys,
I am having trouble with sending and receiving MMS. I bought the phone unlocked from Telstra and am using a Kogan sim. I have put the Kogan apn settings in and the internet works fine but the MMS never works. I have a feeling that the default Telstra apn settings for MMS are interfering with the Kogan apn settings (they use the same port and proxy but different MMSC).
I was wondering if there is any simple way to delete the Telstra APN settings off my phone, so that they don't interfere with the other settings. Just in case someone asks, the Telstra APN settings are locked. Any apps (if such a miracle would exist to make my life easier)??
Thanks!

MMS issues?

Anyone else have issues sending and receiving mms messages? I'm using a verizon s5 on t-mobile, my mms worked on ATT but not on t-mobile thanks alot

YES!
I JUST fixed it this week.
My MMSC setting got reset. Couldn't send or receive MMS. I installed Textra, because it's settings have a place to change the MMSC.
The APN settings in the verizon build are locked, so you cant change globally (unless you find a way to unlock them).
Also heard that getting a new SIM card might fix it, as the phone loads the APNs from there.
