Can't stand messenger anymore... Too laggy. I've searched all over but I honestly cannot find this apk. I'm shocked at the lack of downloads 0.0
Anyway, does someone have a link? Or know where I can look?

From my experience, scrolling through multiple conversation threads lags horribly while it loads contact images, and when sending messages the animation stutters. I personally use Signal.

What? Google Messenger was not originally part of AOSP. It was like chrome replacing browser. If you get a non google android device it has Messaging, not messenger. Messaging is from AOSP. Other wise what would a non google android device have? No SMS capabilities?
Are you sure you're not thinking about Nexus devices?

I just ask that a few posts up, it is identical to Google Messenger, except in this the main color is green wheres as Google Messenger is blue. Someone mentioned the performance being different, but I'm talking performance aside, I dont see any difference. How is it that this application is identical to Google Messenger?

Performance aside, how is Google Messenger ' nicer looking' ?? If the app is identical looks wise( other than one being blue and the other green) , how can one look better than the other? I'm not questioning you, im trying to make sure I'm not missing something.

The messaging app that comes with the phone? Its 1. An ugly shade of green 2. Not as nice as Google Messenger download Google messenger and run through every thing you will find a few differences also Google messenger is customizable by layers while Motorola's stock messenger is not if you look in the right areas you will find the differences between the looks and functions of Motorola's messaging app and Googles

Google Messenger is not AOSP. Google Messenger is closed source and not available to publicly compile. AOSP Messaging is.
If you're going to get aggro with people over something, at least be right.

No I just pick attitude with people who start stuff with me and tbh as far as I knew AOSP used Google messenger but that's because in every AOSP based rom I ever used Google Messenger was put on there by stock. Also no I don't do this all over XDA I only ever posted in the Moto X Pure page I do not even do this on other threads in the Moto x pure page. I said one thing on TruPureX and you called me lazy and disrespectful toward the Dev and I got annoyed at you and the funny thing was I actually was right..... I did not get aggro over something that I was wrong about clearly here I was wrong however on the TruPureX thread all I did was suggest something. I suggested something to the Dev and you called me disrespectful and lazy even though I'm constantly on that thread helping others. I got aggro at you and I came here and bursted on this thread too because I was fed up with everyone and I thought I was right even though here I was wrong. On the TruPureX thread making a suggestion does not make you wrong. Making a suggestion does not make you lazy. Making a suggestion does not make you disrespectful. So stop stop attacking me and just leave me alone.
This thread has gone off the rails... Seems to have outlived its purpose IMO.

I'm no dev, and I don't like to be a negative nelly, but you're trying to take a piece from Sense UI and make it work in AOS/KP. Two very different beasts making it a tough challenge to pull off right. It would be nice, but it probably won't happen.
I know this isn't what you asked for, but since what you asked for is pretty unlikely to happen, I thought I'd offer this as an alternative.
I use Swiftkey-3 as my keyboard, and it is a fantastic keyboard aside from the fact that it has an option for showing arrows.
Here is a screenshot just so you know what it looks like.
It might get you what you want in a very easy way, easier than trying to flash a sense keyboard over an aosp rom.
Plus it has several themes which look nice. This one looks really good with ICS I think.

What version of Swiftkey ? I have v1.1.91 ... just got it from the Amazon store 1-2 days ago. I see no option for turning on arrows, nor does mine even look like that. That looks like a stock Android keyboard while mine is rather HTC-Sense-looking (larger buttons, light gray color, etc).

You have to go to options, and the theme section. Different themes will change the color. Also the arrow option is in the theme section.
Your version is old, it may not have all of that. I am using 3.0.4.343
I bought it back on the old version and I upgraded for free, but I bought it on the google market, not sure how amazon handles updates like that.
My version is 2 upgrades newer than yours I think. First there was your version, SwiftKey, then Swiftkey-X then Swiftkey-3.
Yeah, that's the problem. I actually got it for free from Amazon. Later, it appeared that maybe Swiftkey pulled the app 'cause you couldn't update it. Seems that the version after mine was Swiftkey-X and they weren't doing upgrades between "major" versions.

That stinks. But I think it's only a few bucks on the Google Market, so it might be worth it to you.
Get SwiftKey-3 if you do, not X.

I don't think its a tough challenge at all as long as u make it a separate app not a flashable zip that modifies the default touch input keyboard which aosp roms don't have.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844512. It works great. It just doesn't have arrows
Arrows are the must for me. Use them to go back and forth to edit the misspelled words in the messages I type.

Hate to split hairs, but disabling is not removing. Will making sure these dont inadvertantly start up and chew on cpu and memory help performance? Possibly. But removal also gets you that much needed storage back.

Does anybody know how to remove the Verizon pre-loaded contacts? It's been mentioned that Verizon has locked them down, too. You used to be able to delete them but not anymore. I remember that you can freeze com.partnerbookmarks (apologies if that file name isn't 100% accurate) on older phones to get rid of the carrier-provided bookmarks and was wondering if there was something similar to get rid of the Verizon contacts. Not a dealbreaker, but just curious.

You can't remove them. But, in People, menu, contacts to display, hit customize, then disable the Verizon Wireless preset contacts.

Im actually very happy with it stock as is. I would love bootloader unlock only because everyphone i've had was able to be. Im loving active display and touchless control. The camera is great compared to what i had (droid razr hd). Using the Xposed framework allowed me to have the little UI tweeks i like. I would just love a stock 5x5 or 4x5 launcher. I would use nova and always did on AOSP, but I like the Circles widget, it just will not work with 3rd party launchers. Wish we could figure that out too

I'm the same way.. I went from a Motorola electrify to a gs3 on uscc and was excited to finally do what I wanted with my device but with the radio problems of the Samsung devices I opted for Motorola device when switching to Verizon. I do miss that I cannot use my SD card and I only have 11 gigs of free space but I have awesome coverage no dropped calls and now my gs3 is more of an mp3 and game device.

So...does disabling a bunch of apps do the same thing as freezing them?
I was able to go through and disable most if not all of the bloat on this phone and I guess I just assumed it was taken off line. Is that not the case? If it is the case, I highly recommend it as it doesn't screw you out of future stuff.
For those who dont know, Cyanogenmod has definitely modified the aosp browser apk so that it works. I extracted and installed it along with banks bookmark syn and it works perfectly. No broken bar at the top of the screen when using quick controls. History, incognito mode, and bookmarks all work.
What I did
Flashed Rom
Flashed gapps
Flashed banks bookmark sync
Boot up and setup
Move CyanogenMod's browser to system/app
Overwrite Old aosp browser and fix permissions
Reboot

So why the great excitement in OP?
Custom ROMs provide Browser since November. It's available to install from Play Store for few months already.
But who cares if one can't read tiny letters because chromium does not provide text wrap functionality like web kit used to before KitKat.
When someone opens new thread claiming he has "working" Browser people will think somebody finally implemented old web kit into Browser so it is independent from androids onboard chromium web view.
There's at least one thread about it already: Chromium Webview in 4.4 breaks the AOSP browser

You will understand if you use quick controls in the asop browser. Not many ppl use this thus it's not widely reported.
There's a graphical glitch on top of the address bar, so far non of the aosp browser I tried doesn't have it.
This is the first one with full working screen.
Also browsing history is a hit and miss thing, some browser has it, some browser doesn't. I don't know why.
This is the most complete browser for me till date, non working text wrap and flash I have already got used to it. It's ok not to have it now, but nice to have it in the future I hope.
I'm just a big fan of aosp browser that's why I'm so excited there's something fixed after such a long time.

Reading the content in the OP would let them know what i was talking about. Complaints about broken graphics when using quick controls, problems with incognito, and history have been more popular with the average consumer.
I have Browser provided with SlimKat ROM and I haven't seen problems you described. Incognito was fixed about two m months ago. I've just checked, works fine. Though the lack of text wrapping after double tap to zoom prevents me from using it. And even if I force myself to read tiny letters on XDA posts them comes the moment when I want attach screen shot and...
I can't, another thing broken in chromium
All I can do to express my feelings about this is to totally refuse using Chrome, which Google is forcing on us since Nexus 4.
So I'm using Dolphin. It has it's own integrated web view engine so is independent from Chromium. It wraps text correctly, it's fast and it handles flash playback fine.
+1 for Dolphin!

I'm not alone!!!!!!
I TOO, have only used FULL SCREEN for the life of my phone and since I got a new note 3 with KitKat there has been a black bar on the top which I have not been able to remove.
Soooo many thanks for this. I cannot stand 100% of all the other browser's out there.
Edit: For some reason the font size stays at 100% and cannot be increased. Mainly on google search. Any advice?
UPDATE: EMOJI'S ARE NOW FIXED, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE WORKING FINE. PLEASE TEST.
[Introduction]
Hello!
This is a mod that will replace Android's Default Colour Emoji (introduced in KitKat I believe) with Apples Default Emoji.
I may be in a minority here but I personally recognize and prefer Apple's iOS themed icons over the Google, and most of my friends have either an android phone with an old version that will not show colour emoji or have iPhones. This means if I try to send a message with Android Emoji it could look completely different on the receiving end.
I found a solution for this by angelsel here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563757
This worked great, except due to changes in fallback_fonts.xml between KitKat and L, if you flash the KitKat version, the phone will glitch and will not work correctly so I updated a flashable zip posted in the comments by Fusionalex and am sharing it here with you now
[Features Summed Up]
Replaces the stock Emoji with the Apple Emoji (used on iOS and OSX)

UPDATED: 8th January 2015
Fixed the black and white emoji that occasionally cropped up

I am not a dev, I simply updated a mod that came with a guide that assisted in doing so, that being said, I will assist where possible and update this as much as I can.
This should work on Nexus 7 as well but untested, if not I can easily make a Nexus 7 version so let me know
If anybody thinks I am using their work and would like me to remove files please let me know - thanks!
To each his own, but talk about a step backwards. I have friends on iOS who prefer the Android icons - the iOS ones just look outdated and ugly today.

Should be getting people to stop buying iPhones - not changing Android Emoji to iOS ones
I personally have been using this mod for months. I feel the difference between Android and iOS emojis are different enough to confuse people texting from Android to iOS and vice versa. My girlfriend of course has an iPhone so it's easier to communicate because I see what she sees. That being said while the Android emojis are lively and colorful, the iOS emojis do provide a nice sense of detail.
Again, this is coming from an anti Apple guy. And Apple didn't make those emojis, Softbank JP did, correct me if I'm wrong.
Exactly what I was looking for......I am used to whatsapp Smiley's and android Smiley's really confused me.....thank you so much.....works on KitKat too.....I'm currently using it with vanir rom

Where most of my friends wouldn't even know Android had Emoji (most of them don't even know what Android is...) It's an optional thing I thought I'd share that I like to use
I personally can't always tell what the Google Emoji is to correspond to the Apple (Softbank) one.

This is the reason I too use this mod, I'm not fond of Apple but I don't find that the Apple Emojis (Technically Softbank you're right, but people recognise them for their use in Apple devices) don't look out of place within Android and it helps me understand

The only reason I wouldn't use it on KitKat is because it'll change some font settings, but if it works for you then great glad other people like it

Thanks! Mediafire...
I like Andoid Emoji, but in my opinion, I think Apple Emoji is better.
Furthermore, it's the icons that WhatsApp is using and we are used to them.
Thanks for share. I will try

There's no way around it....Apple's emojis are WAY better than Google's.
Sweet! works great! However, I've noticed that on L, it leaves a few emojis in their original google emoji design, anyone else get this?
EDIT: Disregard this, didn't read OP >.<

It seems Googles emoji are quite minimal in their design but I personally like Apples detail, so I'd have to agree

It annoys me that this happens its not too bad because you can still distinguish emoji apart but it doesn't feel as polished.
I will work on fixing it in the near future but a lot of the tools the original creator of the mod used appear outdated (that being said I've not done a lot of research)
If I fix it I'll obviously upload it here and if anybody else wants to, I have no problem with that
Thanks for the mod OP. Any update on if you got all the emojis working? Getting the Nexus on Wednesday and this is one of the first mods i'm installing.

No luck as of yet - there's only very few that don't work so it very rarely bugs me however I am occasionally searching for some kind of solution - its quite complicated from what I've read so far and I'm quite lazy so... I will continue to try just don't expect anything soon/ever as I'm sure someone far more intelligent than I will do it easily
Hey all, if you catch wind of any 3rd party Facebook apps with material design (whether out or in development) post them here! I'm on the hunt for one. I'll definitely share if I find anything.

It's not based on the material design, more like Google+. Klyph. It's not under development currently, the developer abandoned the project. He open sourced it though. I use it and it's pretty good.
Talon for Twitter has new app for Android L . and amber rss reader also now in material design .both only work in Android L

This is why apps with an "L" theme only work on "L":
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It's completely separate from the design used in KK, and only usable in "L". Backward and forward compatibility.

Thanks for the heads up on those; Talon seems to only be a teaser from the dev on their Google+ channel so far (I have Talon installed and it's not Material themed and after joining Beta community there is no Beta update in Play Store either), and Amber force-closes every time I try and log in to Feedly through Google sign-in...
both apps running just fine , screenshots included and both are indeed just a teaser of things to come from the devs but the apps are running just fine .

I managed to track down the Material Talon in the end (separate APK download, not a beta version through store)
Is the Material version of Amber a standalone APK as well? Do you have a link to either the beta community or the standalone APK? It's a paid app in the store so I would prefer a legit route!

Looks like you need to be a member of the Reindeer Crafts G+ community before you can access that link; just gives a "this post cannot be found" error for me atm. Request to join submitted, but until then I'll just have to be patient!
Update: Yep, just been accepted to G+ community and can now open that link and the new material version doesn't crash on account login! woo!

Thanks, I found Klyph and was about to post about it. While not based on material design its still got a better feel than the official Facebook app!
I've been rocking the new Material Talon. I have to uninstall it occasionally because at times it force closes as soon as I open it. Still excited for when it becomes official it looks pretty dang nice!

I'd like to know as well if there's any 3rd party app for Facebook with Material Design.

I found a few bugs in that app that are "known issues" which prevent me from using it. The main one being that some people don't allow access to their profile information through 3rd party apps. So if you look at a friends Facebook from official app, you will see their posts, etc. If you look at it from Fast, the page will be almost empty. That's a problem with all 3rd party Facebook apps though. Stuck with the official if you don't want to use mobile browser. :/
