Sorry for this post i need help,i want to know what version is better lolipop, kitkat or jb?
Please somebody can help me?
Android 6.0.1.
Persinaly I'd say stick with 4.4.2 which I have done.
I did the fota to 5.0.1 but had some issues. I was able to easily go back my previous version by odin ING the stock 4.4.2 for my county and carrier without issues, except that doing an odin requires you to back up all your stuff (photos contacts etc) before flashing

Of course choose newer version.
Don't think you can flash a 4.3 bootloader over a 4.4.2 bootloader.

For this question I already have made a reply in the other thread that you started.
For the main question of this thread...
For the Material style UI and some bug fixes go with LP. I personally recommend you to go with KK and try to fix those ugly Stagefright bugs before any other things.

I upgraded to 4.3 last night. I greatly dislike it, and want to downgrade back to 4.2.2
I tried running my phone in Odin mode and installing an older version of 4.2.2 (from May, I believe), but every time I run it, the FAIL box appears. Is there a another way of downgrading, or I am doing it wrong?
Thanks for any and all help!
At this point you are stuck on 4.3 ( I'm guessing Mj6 leak) until there is an odin flashable rom for mj9 the Mj6 update contained knox security among other things that prevents the downgrade (blown qfuse and such) hope that answers your question

I believe he took the OTA update that AT&T pushed overnight. But yes, your correct that he will be unable to downgrade for the foreseeable feature due to Knox and what will likely be another incremental qFuse. I'm staying on 4.2.2 with SafeStrap on MF3 for a few more weeks to see what developments take place due to the release of 4.3 finally.
We need to be more specific when stating limitations. We can assume MJ9 incremented the qfuse based on past updates. So what that means is you cannot revert aboot/BLs to a prior version. It remains unclear as to whether MJ9 BL's will boot prior kernels. I havent had a chance to look at the MJ9 files yet.
What about taking his phone to Best Buy to have them flash MF3 on it?
Could be they still have it in the computer maybe.

The blowing of a q-fuse means it is literally impossible to downgrade, even for Best Buy. Once you're on it, that's it. All they can do is take the new 4.3 build and flash it.
I received the OTA update.
Anyways, thanks for all the quick replies. Is there a way to re-add the "Mobile Data" toggle? I don't like how they removed that, and limited the toggle tray to 10 (instead of being able to scroll through all the toggles).
EDIT:
Is there a way to re-hide the apps in the App-Drawer? (I liked being able to display only the ones I wanted)
awsomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need help. I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH - I337) Rooted from AT&T. I got two problems.
First I cannot update my version from JellyBean 4.2 to 4.3. Every time I had downloaded the update when the device restarts and it reaches 21% on the update it said's "Update Fail". What can I do?!
NOTE - (Someone told me that because I rooted the phone I cannot update my phone through AT&T servers)
Secondly my device from time to time restarts it self.
And sometimes the wifi stars connecting and disconnecting every few seconds.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Having root can stop the install.

The ATT updates can fail due to the device being rooted as stated by others here. Just as it has been recommended do a back up and a factory reset to see if it helps with your rebooting issues and wifi. Check your baseband under settings/about and if it ends with MDL i would recommend that you DO NOT update. The reason for this is that since you are rooted you can install ANY custom ROM on your phone, you can even install the latest google edition ROM 4.4.2. If you do the ATT updates and your baseband changes to MF3 or MK2 then you will be stuck with just limited ROMS and you will also be stuck with all the ATT/TW bloatware. Trust me 4.4.2 is soooo much better your phone will run alot faster and you will have the latest google version on your phone. I was on MDL and all the ATT updates failed on me and i just decided to install the google edition ROM and man oh man I LOVE IT!

You may not be able to flash 4.3 roms and above with no issues. Your bootloader is locked down and no custom kernel flashing either. Also, only TW roms. That said there is newer beta Safestrap 3.7.1? that is letting 4.3 TW roms flash. I think!
I am on an original phone and not up on Safestrap. Read all you can here about it. Threads will be in General and Q&A.

On MF3, your only option for a recovery is Safestrap 3.65 and you can only flash other 4.2.2 ROMS. Trying to use the updater in the GPE 4.2.2 ROM will possibly brick your phone. If you update to MK2 then you can have 4.3 ROMS but the 4.3 GPE ROM uses a different kernel and so you won't be able to use it.

Yes, but if anyone is asking for the record it's still in beta, only on Hashcode's goo.im, and if they're still on MF3 they should stay if they want GPE and check which ROMs are compatible in the Safestrap thread before going to MK2.

You can't come back to android 4.2.2. The unique u can do is install android 4.4.2 (latest one):
1. Log and sig in Sammobile.com
2. Download and unzip this firmware: HERE
3. Flash it through ODIN (you have the instructions in the URL I pasted u)
4. If you wanna root it, u will void ur warranty (KNOX: 0x1)
I assume the firmware your on has knox, to confirm boot into download mode and see if there is a reference to KNOX.
If you have knox you can not downgrade. I know 4.3 was safe for a while before knox got implemented but can't remember the last safe knox free rom on 4.3.

Nope if you flashed official Samsung firmware you'll have knox. You won't even be able to downgrade to 4.3.

I'm pretty sure I uninstalled Knox. Does that not make a difference?
What is it that Knox is doing that prevents downgrading?
Knox is an app but tied into the bootloader deep down. If you've got it in the boot loader then you can not downgrade. It's the bootloader. When knox was fully implemented it bought a new bootloader. Any one on the new bootloader can not downgrade to the old bootloader unfortunately.

If Knox brought a new bootloader, and it was released with 4.3, surely I can at least downgrade back to 4.3?
Unfortunately you can't downgrade. As 4.2.2 was on the old bootloader. As I suggested boot into download mode, volume down and power button and see if there is a knox counter. If it says knox you have the new bootloader. If there is no reference to KNOX at all then you can safely install stock 4.2.2.

I still don't understand how it is that I can't go back to 4.3, since it uses the same bootloader as 4.4.
I went into download mode and my phone said the following:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-I9500
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Knox warranty void: 0
RP SWREV: A3
Galaxy S5 Rooted
Model : G-900F
Android version : 5.0
I have tried installing the latest version of the S Health app and when i open it, it says 'S health services needs to be updated to the latest version etc, press OK to update and Cancel to close the app' I clicked OK and it open the Samsung Apps app and it says package not found.
I have tried downloading the apk file from google and when i try to install it says ' App not installed'.
I am rooted and I wasn't the one to root the phone, I bought a used phone. Can someone help me out with how to get the S health app working?
Thanks

Yea you can upgrade if you go back to KK
If factory resetting fails to fix it, just flash the stock Lollipop ROM you are already running using ODIN
Grab the ROM from sammobile . com

Okay I am sorry, I am a total noob at this, can you please guide me which exact firmware i need to download? a stock lollipop one
I did the *#1234# thingy and i got these
AP: G900FXXU1BOC7
CP: G900FXXU1BOC7
CSC: G900FITVBOC1
please guide me to the right firmware, I would be so grateful. I just want to un-root my phone, maybe S health will work for me then.
Thanks
You only need to find firmware for the G900F, and your country
So pick the newest from sammobiles firmware section for those two above criteria
Fyi flash OA6 not OD3 or OF6, or OG1. The last two will cause you hassles with other things.

I don't think you can downgrade from LP to 4.3.
What error are you getting in Odin?
That warning appears when you flash a custom recovery like CMW, TWRP or Philz. That's normal and just a little visual annoyance.
But if you didn't flash a custom recovery try flashing with Odin the last Kit Kat Stock firmware for your country, because a downgrade from Lollipop to Jellybean is pretty big in terms of what Samsung did on our phone.
