I'm referring to the multi view when hitting the square button. My S5 had a button to do this but don't see that on the 6p. Thanks!

I guess there no way to do this?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Not by default - and you mean the Task Switcher. Gravity box (an Xposed module) might be able to do it, but you'll need root

Xposed, custom ROM or maybe a launcher from playstore with the feature built in. There is a lot you can do really.
Not a launcher - that doesn't affect the task switch view
Chainfire has an app called "recently". It requires root, but can add a clear all button. Note that this actually kills the processes, not the individual "tasks" so things like music in the background will also get killed.

Anybody know how I can get the Swipe up action? for example to bring up recent apps or currently running apps. I used nova to do this however I'm not a fan of this launcher overall, I had an iphone 5 with the zephyr tweak and I want something similar to this. Please let me know

You will need a non stock launcher for that. TW does not support this and I have never seen one modded to do this either.
It is what it is...
You mean long-pressing the home button? Or you want a swipe up gesture to do that? Because as far as I know that's not possible. You'd need Nova or the like to do so.

Get Nova Launcher Prime. It supports a bunch of gestures and its wicked fast.
Yup exactly I want a Swipe gesture to replace the long press home button.

You'll need a different launcher. Luckily, the Android eco-system contains many different options.
Personally I prefer Apex Launcher but people also seem to like Nova Launcher quite a bit too. I set the swipe down to open my app drawer and the swipe up to directly launch Google's voice search, but the combinations/options are really endless.
Try both, or others and see what you like.
Try swipepad free from the play store, it is the best swipe launcher you can use with ANY launcher. You can set up your favorite apps or recent apps. It works so smooth.

Is there any app / way to achieve this? There are two many apps that I do not launch on a regular basis which I do not want to appear in the App Menu but keep the app available to launch when required using Swapp or any other Gesture App Launcher like GMD. My Nexus 4 is rooted. I have tried few apps to hide but I am unable to launch them while hidden.

Many third-party launchers have the ability to hide apps (nova, apex, action) from the app drawer. If you wish to run one of these hidden apps, simply search for it-either in the launcher's search or with Google now.

Sorry, forgot to mention.. If possible I would like to avoid third party launchers. I am happy with the stock launcher.

Stock launcher doesn't have this option. If you want to hide icons, you have to get a third party one. Sorry.

I've looked around and it appears there are a number of paid apps that apparently let me change the soft keys, but I'm not 100% sure if they'll work with the stock LG G2 "OS"...
I want my multitasking button back... No need for a settings button, IMO.

Absolutely. And I'm handy with UNIX, so navigating the filesystem and using text editors to muck with XML isn't a problem. I'm just not a developer.
Also interested in being able to change it that key to recent apps.

Just tested, no you can not. It will always hide after you lock your screen, so you'll have to swipe/touch to bring the soft keys back up.

And also it will always overlap over the screen. There are ways to keep the navbar from disappearing, but you won't be able to access anythi g underneath it because it doesn't shift the screen up, just overlay

I just tried SoftKeyZ. No luck
Big letdown because it looks like a great app. Hopefully the dev can get it working for us in the future.

My quasi solution was auto hide soft keys, auto to 0, auto hide only had anywhere on the bar checked, and swipe. You still need to swipe after wake, but if you need anything under it, just tap the left side to hide. If you use the mock option, home will leave space for it.

I sent the nova developer an email about it. He said he is looking into it. He can enable if LG allows third party apps access to that feature.

i'm sure most of you know already, but holding the home button will bring up recents.
Yes, but, not,as,convenient as having a dedicated button. Personal choice I guess.

I use GMD soft keys to hide them completely then use LMT for pie. That way I can completely control my button layout, gain screen real estate, navigate from left right and bottom and do it with whatever colors I choose. A must have for me.

What did you set your device input for LMT? I cant get it to work. Thanks.
Like instead of the capacitive and home hardware buttom. A line at the lower part of the screen is used to show on screen buttons
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4
I've always used the line that you add to your build.prop file and it adds it by itself but it doesn't work in the note 3, I tried it and it went into an infinite systemui force close, so I guess it's a no go.
I'm also interested in them as I use the s pen too much and I hate pressing the home button with it.

there's a simpler way
just install this from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatedevgroup.softkeyenabler&hl=en
SoftKey Enabler
Darn it has to be rooted

I'm using Swipe Home Button. It uses gestures for various actions. It's not perfect, but it keeps my pen off the home button. No root required. I have it paired with a "screen off" app, so I can avoid using the power button, too.

There's also Virtual Button Bar, which is more of a pop-up menu of icons (can be set to always be visible). It's not being developed anymore, but it still works, and served its purpose while I was using it.

Nova with the Tesla Unread plug in gives you icon notification badges.
Nova ftw! I have their paid app with gestures and other goodies...
I have used nova in the past and liked it but I don't like it on my 6p. I use the Gmd immersive app to hide my soft keys and when I use it on the stock launcher the screen becomes larger. When I use it with nova the screen stays the same size and when the soft keys hide nova just leaves a large black box instead of expanding the screen.
