Hi I've just got myself a n6p & the device is brilliant I have one issue & am wondering if there is a solution to it. My Bluetooth won't find my universal Sony car stereo, wont find my son's bt headphones it will find his m7 & my htc m8. Things I have tried are clearing bt app cache & rebooting, settings location 3 dot menu, I've booted into safe mode & tried to connect and I've just flashed elementalx kernel to see if that would solve it which it hasn't. Am I better resetting it and taking it back to the store.
# update
I have reset the stereo Inc removing the car battery terminal for 5 mins & still my Sony stereo will not show on my device list, I have a also tried my partners m8's & dare I say it my brothers iThingi & they won't connect but my old m8 will.
# Update
Been digging a bit more and it dosnt only seem to be with the issue https://code.google.com/p/android/i...ry Stars&groupby=&sort=&id=189188#makechanges

correct, that means that your phone is visible to other devices that are in search mode.
often times, you will need to enable the other devices to be visible to your phone.
In other words, just because bluetooth is enabled on a device, doesn't mean it is discoverable to other devices, they need to be made discoverable.

I had the same, you have to go to:
Settings -> More -> Bluetooth.
And there you can pair with detected devices.
AQlso, if you go:
Settings -> Wireless controls
And tap "bluetooth", but NOT the on/off switch, there will be a list of visible devices you can pair with.
thanks for that, really helped
cheers Ray
You might want to check out BTmanager in the windows folder too,,
Not sure if anyone else has this issue, but every time I turn on my bluetooth headset, I need to pair it. Have never had this issue with any of my other phones. Any ideas? My phone is stock, rooted with tethering hacked. I have disabled some bloatware, but nothing related to bluetooth or connectivity. Is it possible bluetooth is somehow connected to some stock LG Bloatware I am not aware of? thanks all!
I too experiened the same problem a while back till I installed "bluetooth auto connect" (free from google play store).
Hope this info is helpful to you.

Help paring will not connect to audio just phone works.
My LG G2 will not stream music to my car. The phone Bluetooth works just fine. When I move to connect to the media streaming the car say no Bluetooth audio device connected. The car is a Mercedes E 350 2010. I had a nexus 4 also an LG phone and I had no issues streaming. I am aware of the menu that you can get to check the boxes for phone audio and media audio. I have tried every option I can think of with no luck yet. So far I unpaired the device, I factory rest the phone all to no avail. When I attempt to pair just the Bluetooth media to the car the car asks me to up in the pass code and I do then the phone asks for the same code. This lets me know that the 2 devices are communicating. Once I have entered the pass code the car says connecting….. then is says connection to Bluetooth media device unsuccessful called LG T-Mobile and Mercedes and not one of them has any idea that was helpful or I had not tried yet. . I am rooted but running stock. Have 2 headsets that both work fine streaming music. Any ideas would help.

Tried resetting the car radio? My alpine will only store info for 3 devices then it will ask for that code and won't connect until at least one spot is cleared.

Not a bad idea. It is a stock system so I will look up how to reset if that's an option.

If you can't figure out how to reset radio, disconnect your car battery for a minute then hook it back up, should clear its memory

Problem solved. Both my Ipad and LG G2 needed the set up to be requested from the car. You must use the cars external authorization set up process not the normal way you sync your phone to make calls.

I am coming from a long history of HTC use and so I apologise if this question has an obvious answer.
Previously, if I wanted to connect to my bluetooth in the car (previously paired with), I would just hit the bluetooth button in quick settings to turn it on and that was it, just like connecting to wifi.
If I do this on my S7E, I then get another screen popping up that tells me my device is visible to others and lists previously paired devices for me to select from, and then I have push the back button to leave that screen?
Is there a simpler way as I used to do on my HTC?
cheers
C.
PS - I am sure this will be the first of a number of questions as I get used to TouchWiz and Marshmallow......Sorry.....

Have you ever *paired* your new phone with your car?
I've only had two cars with BT in them, but in both cases the car and phone had to be paired before they would work together.
Once that was done then it would work as you expect.
Specifics of getting your *car* into pairing mode I can't help with, but once you do that you should be able to select it while scanning from the phone (as you've seen already the phone will list devices it finds) and you can finish walking through the pairing.

Oh yes, it was paired with the bluetooth fine (its actually a visor BT device, not the car itself), and when I turn on the BT it shows up on the list of previously paired devices)
Don't have to make it a trusted device for it to auto-pair?
Why turn Bluetooth off at all?
Just leave it on.

Dave

Nope, just had to be paired.
Trusted Device brings in the Smart Lock stuff, which enables the option of having your phone NOT authenticate you (pattern/pin/finger/passwd) when connected.
For example, I have my car bluetooth set as a trusted device so that when I'm driving I don't get any identity challenge to use the phone (like for navigation), the screen will just come on as requested.
Smart lock is blocked by my exchange administrator as I get my work emails on my phone.
I turn the Bluetooth on the phone off because I don't turn the one in the car off and it's just outside the house and will stay connected.

Hello all.
I am having some bluetooth connectivity problem with my moto g 4 US xt1625 Retus channel (non amazon version) stock everything.
Basically the connection to my smartwatch is unstable and keeps dropping on and off.
Normally I would be blaming the smartwatch for this BUT it connects absolutely perfectly to my moto G2 (cyanogenmod 14) without any hint of misbehavior
I've already tried;
Forgetting and re-pairing device (also rebooting phone before repairing)
Factory resetting watch
clearing app data and cache of system bluetooth apps ("bluetooth share" and "bluetooth MIDI")
Disabling 4G (sometimes interferes apparently)
Disabling wifi
Running phone in safe mode.
*edit - also tried disabling power optimisation for both system bluetooth apps AND the watch companion app
I also reconnected my smartwatch to my old moto G 2 after trying all these things and it still works perfectly.
Old moto G2 had blutooth 4.0 LE and this moto G4 has bluetooth 4.2 LE which would offer no comparability issues.
Has anyone had any similar problems with their bluetooth?
Thanks in advance
I think my next move will be to root, and start removing G apps that could be interfering with the bluetooth connection

I have had a problem with my Fitbit connecting that didn't happen on my G2 or G3. I keep my cordless home phone connected with no problem though. What I have to do is forget the Fitbit in my bluetooth devices and it connects fine. If it's even showing up in the bluetooth devices it won't connect. That seems strange that it will only connect that way but others have reported the same thing. Maybe try and see if it connects after you forget it in the bluetooth settings and it's not even showing up.

OK maybe you're on to something.
If I connect to the watch using the companion app, then enter bluetooth settings and "forget" the device..... It still appears to be connected
But a few seconds later, it automatically pairs and re-appears in the "paired devices" list.
Is there a way to prevent re-connect?
Actually, after "forgetting" it several times, It's staying connected and has done for a 15 minutes now.
I'll report back if and when it disconnects.
Cheers
Ok so the watch disconnected a couple of times in a few hours. (this is a huge improvement from before)
Each time, "forgetting" the watch in bluetooth settings caused an automatic re-pair and return to good connection.
Maybe I can use "tasker" or similar app to automate this unpair upon disconnect?
Cheers

Yeah, it's strange that it works that way. I think it's the device not compatible with that version Bluetooth. My Fitbit doesn't try to reconnect once I forget it unless I make it pair then it will actually work sometimes and sometimes it doesn't when paired. It always works if I don't pair it at all. Have you tried clicking on the gear besides your watch in more settings once it connects and unchecking what ever connectons it shows in the check boxes?

If i click the gear next to the watch in the bluetooth settings, the only options i have are to rename the device, or to forget it
I have no checkboxes or anything like thar.
Do you have advanced bluetooth settings installed or something???

Some of my devices have check boxes for contacts, audio, etc. but not all. I thought maybe that would be something to look at.

Ok, its still messing around. I'm going to install the Temasek unofficial cyanogenmod 13 and see if that is an immediate fix, or if the additional options offers a fix.

update;
after ugrading moto g4 to android nougat (7.0.1) I no longer have any issues with bluetooth connectivity.
6.0.1 was to blame!
my phone is updated to stock Nougat also and still having bluetooth issues staying connected to my car (2012 ford fusion with mysync) I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

I seldom connect my phone to mysync but my wife does. She also keeps her G4 connected to the Panasonic home phone system while home. I've noticed that since the update to Nougat mysync is very slow to connect on her phone. The Panasonic cordless phone seems to connect fine. Mysync will usually connect although she has to drive for 10 or 15 minutes before it does occasionally and other times it connects instantly. One time I had to delete her phone in the car and add it back. I wondered if it was a problem of it not disconnecting from the Panasonic, but that shouldn't be past the end of the driveway. Then again it may be just a rip in the space time continum. ?

Hello, I have Android 8.0 and tried to use some JVC headphones. But it doesn't see them at all.
I read this is an issue on many phone models, acknowledged by Google, that will be fixed eventually. I see 8.1 has some mention about bluetooth, so the first question is if there is any chance of getting that update sooner on A1?
When I turn on bluetooth outside it sees quite a long list of devices, so apparently the receiver is strong (can pick up signal from far away). But most of the devices are not listed by name, but by a string of numbers and letters. The headphones are not among them. I could pair it, instead with another phone running Miui.
I tried playing with all settings in Developper options with no effect. (They seem to go back to default option anyway.)
Did anybody find a solution to this?
