Was band 12 disabled on the ALE-L04 model? Im using it on MetroPCS and on lte discovery it only shows band 4, I know in my area there is coverage for 12. I had a moto e 2015 and it worked on 12 until the 5.1 update, just wondering if Huawei disabled it because of Tmobiles certification requirements. Also does anyone know how to get into the engineering(service) menu? Thanks in advance.

Any TMO USA customer's with a Oneplus 2 able to connect the Band 12 LTE? Does the Oneplus 2 have VoLTE?
I have read a few articles/posts about band 12 being disabled on the 2015 Moto E's and G's. Something to do with not being able to make 911 calls when band 12 is the only available connection and VoLTE is not supported on the device. Since that is a violation of federal laws, Moto has removed the bands via a firmware update.
Just curious if the OP2 has the same issue as I just ordered one with an invite.
Thanks!!!!
I'll let you know if I get mine before you. I ordered this morning. Hopefully someone else has the answer and can shed some light on it.
The more pertinent question to ask is, does/will the OP2 have/support e911 to pass volte certification on T-mobiles network for band 12? Because band 12 is enabled for the North American version (A2005) according to the FCC site. If this is the case, then band 12 functionality will be good to go with it. So, the short answer is, no, band 12 will not work out of the box with T-Mobile.
Edit: However, there is this.
Edit 2: This too.
Per another thread here on XDA, band 12 is working on the OP2. It will not cause issues if you also have access to TMO 3G bands. But this will prevent making/receiving calls if band 12 is the only available signal from TMO due to the lack for VoLTE.

Is it possible to enable LTE band 40 for MXPE? There are threads on band 12 support for AT&T, could this be replicated for band 40 as well? I am away from the US now, and the carrier offers LTE only on band 40 (Moto X Style has band 40 support, not MXPE )
Does anyone know how to do this? Please share!
Thanks!

Have you confirmed that band 40 doesn't work? Motorola's specs aren't always complete. Also where are you that you need band 40. I think that a Russian, Asia and Australian band.
Hi d2kplus,
Thank you for your quick reply. Yes I have confirmed that band 40 does not work. LTE does not work on my phone, it does on other phones that have band 40 enabled. FYI, I am in India.
I don't believe so - LTE bands are actually HW specific, and the Style and Pure differ slightly on the supported bands, and 40 happens to be one of them that the Style has, but not the Pure.
The difference with Band 12 on the Pure is that it was always physically present, but it was originally deactivated in the original firmware by Moto at the request of TMobile due to some certification issues. The M update just officially enabled what was already there.
hello, just wondering if i can change 4G bands on my Motorola 4G Plus (XT1642) i cannot use 4G on USA or Mexico, only 3G or H+, i was checking on google and saw something to change baseband to unlock all bands or something like that, can some expert tell me if this is possible or not?? here is my Phone Information:

Just wondering if I need to change the Modem file or something to make it work on another country as 4G
Same issue in the Netherlands with my Moto Plus. No 4G only G3 or lower
the weird thing is that no one knows if this is possible lol, no experts yet for moto g4 plus
Or it has multiple bands and it's unclear what you want to change. It has Edge HSPA and LTE for GSM and evdo and LTE for CMDA. That makes it a true world phone. Unless your variant does not support it.

Do that and you probably wont have service at all. I don't think anyone has been able to unlocked bands.

No it's still stock android, though if i use my Galaxy s5 4G pops up immediately
Did not see any reason to use custom rom jet...
Got it fixed, call your provider and ask to reset QOS / data. 4G pops right up after restart.
For those wondering: it's not possible. One can technically unlock additional bands following QPST tutorials, and actually changes does stick, however model number cannot be changed which is the one that "tells" the device which bands to use. This has been my personal experience
It's not that. You can unlock the bands with QPST, but if the actual RF amplifiers cannot work on those bands, you won't get signal. One can be lucky if for example adds 800MHz band to a device that already has 850MHz, but the signal strength might be lower than expected.

I did "add" via Qualcomm software the EU band 20 to my US phone that had band 5, and I will be able to test it when I get there next week. The US phone has the other main two EU bands (bands 3 and 7, urban mostly).

So you're telling me there's a chance? I do have a XT1622 which has bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 19(800), 20(800), 28(700), 40(2300). I'm trying to use it with band 4 (1700/2100), what should I try next then?
Band 4 is "special" because it has such a wide frequency difference between uplink and downlink that I doubt it will work. The UL for band 4 is the same like band 3, but the DL for band 4 is more like band 1.
Not sure if they can be "coupled" like that, it might... Qualcomm modem reprogramming - to get in that mode it's easy on our phones, Power on + Vol Up and then scroll to Qcom... You need the special software (2 pieces, both running in the same time on PC), don't ask me how, just search on XDA.
Hello.
I tried searching but I did not come up with any answers to this issue. I bought the Verizon Prepaid Moto E4 for about $50 (found out later that Wal-Mart hast it for $40). I have it network unlocked but I need to know what LTE bands are active and if other bands are available and can be activated. Lot's of conflicting data in the Internet.
Verizon says Bands 2, 4 and 13. Other sites have more bands but they may be melding several sub-models.
I want to take this phone overseas and then swap out the SIM card for a local carrier. The Verizon SIM is used with WiFi to get messages, emails, etc. Local SIM's are cheaper for local calls and data.
Anyone knows for sure of the LTE band support? The model under the battery is XT1767 and the SKU is MOTXT1767PP. I looked at the FCC documents, they mention other channels too.
Thanks

Now if I go to the FCC and check for the FCC ID, the report says that the following LTE Bands were tested
2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41 and 66
In the SlickDeals E4 (big) thread, there is a mention that they used a Vodafone in Spain and Europe, AFIK they use Band 7. So maybe all of this Bands are active,
Any chance to unlock the bootloader of this model? [emoji31][emoji45]

No chance unless an exploit is found, which is highly unlikely.
Get the unlocked, retail version or the US Cellular version. Those can be bootloader unlocked through Motorola.
LTE bands can be enabled on this device by using Qualcomm's leaked software QPST. This method was successful on both the AT&T & Verizon branded variants of the Moto E LTE (Surnia).

"Hi! Your handset Motorola XT1767 supports 3G & 4G LTE on Band 1(2100 Mhz) without video calls. To have uninterrupted 4G service across circles, we recommend a 4G compatible handset on both band 3(1800Mhz) & band 1(2100 Mhz). You are active on 4G SIM."
Received this message from my carrier, Idea cellular India. So this phone might also support Band 1 too.
Anybody on Verizon, how's connectivity on LTE band 13?
Update: Band 13 coverage has been great. In fact, reception in my area seems identical to my Nexus 6.
