Hi, I recently got a Moto 360 as a present. But sadly, I soon came to the realization that you can't run Android Wear without GAPPS installed (I'm running CM10.2). I'm not going to install Google's spyware just so I can use a watch.
Are there other Apps that work with AndroIid Wear Devices? My smartphone does support Bluethooth 4 and BLE. A little bit digging showed me that some dedicated people got some functionality to work on their Iphone without Google Services. Alos when I install the Pebble App it recognzes my phone (but can not connect)
I really just want to get notifications to my watch, control music , set an alarm and maybe get my pulse data on my phone. Are there third party apps that can do that?
The person who ported the Android Wear functionality to Iphone has a Github repository of his Iphone app under shiitakeo/android_wear_for_ios . If there is no option I will have to write my own app and I'm going to orient myself on what he did there.
So you are looking for an app to connect your android phone to the iOS wear connect app on moto360? And not android wear app?
I'm looking for a third party android app that lets me connect my Moto 360 with my Phone aCyanogenmod 10.2 without gapps installed.
Without gapps I can't install the offical Android Wear app. Taking a peak in the IOS world shows me that it' s possible to do that with a device that supports Bluethooth 4.0 and BLE. The Pebbles app also recognizes my watch but does not let me connect it, this tells me that they must use a similiar protocol or maybe even the same. My question is, if someebody already did write such an App, that lets you connect your Android phone with your smart watch (without installing gapps!), or if I have to do this on my own. (I'm a software developer but never did anything with Bluethooth or much in Android.)
I'd also like to find a non-gapps solution for this. Have you found one?

I'm currently looking for a good, cheap, reliable smart watch. Currently I was looking at the K8 smart watch http://m.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_238976.html
However, I found out that it lacks music control, BT notifications for other apps, and other features of a tethered watch. I'd like to see if anyone knows of a smart watch which runs on android (regular android not android wear) and has music control, and Bluetooth notifications. Alternatively, if you know a way to add those to functions to an android based device such as the K8 I'd love to know how. My budget is less than 130. However if the price is slightly above that but worth it I might give it a shot. Thanks you all in advanced!
Hi,
I have already been using android and iOS phones. However, since 2014, I only used iPhones (iPhone 6 & iPhone 6S Plus). The 6S Plus is my daily driver and I also use iPads. My girlfriend also uses an iPhone.
Today, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
I have to admit, the screen really is gorgeous, way better than the iPhone 6S Plus screen.
However, there are some functions I miss right now (which maybe exist but I don't know).
On my iPhone, I am used to tell Siri to "remind me of XY in 30 minutes". Is there any equivalent of this on Android? Like to add a reminder with only voice input.
Using my iPhone, I also shared shopping lists with my girlfriend. Is there a way to do this cross-platform?
Last but not least, I miss the drag down iPhone "Finder", where you, on your homescreen, can enter anything you want and it quickly searches through your phone (apps, music, photos etc). Like for instance, instead of searching for an app by its icon, I just enter "shaz" and it immediately points me to the app (shazzam in this example).
Would be great if there are solutions for these questions.
Many thanks in advance!
Hi, welcome back to Android!
1. Google Now provides this functionality as does S Voice. I prefer Google Now, but S Voice can be activated even when the screen is off. GN's "OK Google" command can be setup for activation from any app (even locked) but the screen has to be on.
2. Not sure, but it would probably need to be an app which is available on both platforms.
3. I don't use the stock app launcher so I'm not sure if it is included, but you can set this up as an option on a custom app launcher (custom home screen) like Nova Launcher.

Google now launcher will be your best friend, shopping list u mean like sharing notes? U could use Google keep and have your girl download the same app. Google now also does #3

1-) Google Now will do that for you, an even better all around voice commander than SIRI.
2-) Try Our Groceries from the Play Store, there must be a lot other apps that do the same.
3-) Samsung S Finder will do the same for you, just edit your Quick Toggles and locate S Finder in the first row of Quick Toggles and you'll always have it handily available.
Thanks a lot guys, my problems are solved !
Hey guys, can you tell me the chepest smartwatch which can run Wearable Widgets app.
I don't need to read SMS, Messanger, listen music, watching video and etc. I need smartwatch which I can connect to my smartphone via bluetooth and with Wearable Widgets or something similar app can share screens.
I like to ride bike and often I need to use GPS navigation on my phone. I don't want to hold it on my hand, or use holder in my bike and I decide it will be nice if I can just look at my watch and see direction, current speed, attitude, etc.
So I don't want to spend 200-300$ just for that. I don't even use watches at all, I'll use it only when I drive.
I'm not sure where to write this.
But I'm looking to buy a smartwatch to pair with my Note8 and i just cannot choose.
I need one that i would able to browse the internet and write back on fb messenger or viber or whatsapp. Either with keyboart or voice controll or something.
And would be great if it lasts me a day ... I was looking at these No.1 watches but idk about round watches. Not sure if i would be able to read everything if it cuts off from the screen...
And the not round ones are usually ugly block like... I need one with features like the apple watch basically there u can write back or voice recog in messenger etc etc. But with more style and ye .. less cheaper...
You want a watch with the sophistication of an Apple watch that works with your flagship Samsung phone. The best (and obvious) choice is the Gear S3.
