Hello everyone! I have manually installed Lollipop 5.0.2 in my Nexus 7 wifi but I don't know how to root it. I have been reading in google that to root Lollipop is a little more complicated than KitKat. Can I flash SuperSu from the recovery or I need to flash a custom kernel first?
Thanks!
You should probably try the NRT (Nexus Root Toolkit) by WugFresh. I rooted my tablet in 2 minutes with that!

Geez.
Throw on TWRP with fastboot then use it to flash ChainFire SuperSU update, update the binaries from there.

Ok! I used this method with KitKat. Are you sure that it works in Lollipop too? What about the modified kernel? Is it necessary?
SuperSu v2.45 is ok?
Thanks!

Worked for me. Shouldn't affect the kernel you already have.
Don't know what chainfires current version is.
Or you could try CF Autoroot.
I used UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip but there's probably a later one by now.

The title on this thread is just a bit misleading... This in no way explains how to install, what kind of Z5 P device it is or anything... Hardly worth a whole new thread, either, when this is being discussed in the 'Marshmallow available now' thread...

I think I have latest firmware from :
1298-2969 Customized MAA 32.1.A.1.185-R7C
Same customization of mine but I'll wait for the one rootable.
Hi OP. Were you be able to update it?pls consider to check if the kernel is the same as stock version of firmware 163? if it is still the same, I think we can still use the current custom kernels
Kernel is the same.

Does a diffrent firmware void your warranty? And if i do can i also turn back to my own cda when tmobile nl 6.0 has been released?
For E6853
The custom kernels work, but it's registered at the older firmware version, making the system update pop up even though you have it installed. I customized the stock kernel for the latest update with the help from @tobias.waldvogel tool from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605

It has DRM restore injected, latest TWRP 3.0.1 and support for root. The rest is stock.
I would recommend flashing the latest firmware with Flashtool without wiping any data and flash the kernel afterwards in fastboot
Fastboot flash boot kernel.img

Make sure to navigate to the correct directory you have it downloaded so it can detect the IMG.
No need for installing recovery as it already has this. From recovery just flash the latest SuperSU and you have root.

What recovery do you have original or custom such as TWRP.

Then you can update the firmware again by putting dload folder in sdcard. After it updates your phone will unroot. By the way never uae kingroot. Kingroot is a sh*t app that will create problems in your phone.

For kingroot you don't need to unlock the bootloader. However I do not recommend anyone to use kingroot.

I thought Huawei sell their phones off contract. By the way you can contact your operator so that they can install Vodafone EMUI. Even if you install firmware you still will be able to use your network. For apps download them from play store.

Yes, i confirm, I had 2 devices with totally blocked bootloader, rooted with kingroot.
No recovery, no fastboot, none!
The "nandroid" (not nandroid really but img files), are for recover the /system and /data without turn off the phone using RohesoftDriveExpert
This app mounts created images, and reflashes the created images WITHOUT turn off the phone.

No, you will have be more carefull after rooting, for prevent mistakes, now you will have to reinstall yor rom again to unroot your device.

I saw this (https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tips.md#ota-installation-tips) to install an ota when you rooted.
I did some research to know what is flashfire and I read that it could work on other devices than pixel, nexus and samsung.
So I just wanted to know if someone tried and if it works
