Is there any setting to enable headphones because i tried many different headphones different brands. what type and brand of headphones you are using i will try them.
(Please do not mention Bluetooth headphones because they are not working in some apps and working in some apps).

My main headphones are ones from Sennheiser and Phillips plus some which came with other MP3 players I've owned. I've had no problems with any of them. However the headphones I use have no built in microphone and have only three bands or connections on the plug. Is this where the difference is?
As far as Bluetooth goes I've had no problems so far using Google Play Music, Google Maps, Poweramp music player and Podcast Addict apps and listening using bluetooth on my Sansa headset or my car bluetooth FM transmitter.

Head Phones Working at last
Thanks to all who tried to solve this headphone issue.
The actual problem was that in lollipop when you are connecting any headphones, there is no headphone icon indication on the top.
In previous android versions a headphone icon was shown when you connect a headphone to smartphone.
This is what that i just noticed but the real problem was this that i was connecting HUAWEI headphones which are not compatible with wileyfox storm due to headphone pin connections. then i went to mobile accessories store and connected many headphones one by one but due to no headphone notification icon i can not judge which head phone is working and which one is not.
Finally i connected SAMSUNG headphones any played a video they worked fine but still without notification icon.
Now the question is why they removed headphone notification icon in lollipop. this is troublesome for new users.

Phone Speaker plays audio when head phones plugged in

I have this problem with my BA in that the speaker on the device still plays the audio when my head phones are plugged in.
Does anyone else have this problem.
I am using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter I bought off ebay that was for this device. The head phones work nicely and play in stereo.
The device is WM6.
Thanks
Same problem
I had the same problem but just once. I played mp3 with HTC audio manager and then I received a phone call. After I end my phone call, the song continued to play but then the sound also come out from the speaker not just from my earphone. I used a motorola 2,5mm stereo earphone
Thanks
Actually. you are right. That is exactly what happened to me. I tried my earphones again today, and it worked fine.

[Q] Head phones with mic

Hey people. Thanks for all info, been reading about the defy here for some time. Got one now and I love it. I had a few smartphones before and this is by far the one I would stick to forever if I had to.
So, my question is: Are there any good head phones (in-ear plugs, with mic and maybe even music controlers) avaliable, and that I can be certain to be compatible with the Defy? Or could I just buy any that works fine with other Android or Motorola devices? Motorola is not sold in Sweden where I live, so it's not like I can check out any stores IRL here...
With my Xperia x20 mini, exacly what I described came along with the phone. Too bad that you just got these normal plugs with the defy. Cos there is just no way I would use those. As of now I stick to my old head phones but I'd love the mic function with my In-ear plugs.
Thanks for any help!
Ekholm
Ok, so I found this site:
thinkmotoroladefy.com/wiredheadsets.html
and it's all looking good, except for the part that they are a bit low-priced. I'm looking for high quality ones. I.e my current head phones was about 90 USD.
For information, iphone handsfree works fine
Thanks!
By chance, does anyone know if "Klipsch Image S4i" would work? they seams to be perfect! Volume, track fwd bwd and play...
I got one of these a few months ago, works fine with my HTC Desire. Not the best headphones in the world, but more than capable of handling a bus ride. You can unplug the headphones, clip on a small plastic hook and use it as an in-ear Bluetooth headset too. Two birds with one stone
I can get around 10 hours out of them between charges.
Thanks, it seams to be mono, right? Mono doesnt sound too thrilling...
If you use power amp you can set it up to use the controls on headphones to start and stop music, instead of calling the last number you called. It will work on the lock screen too.
This was the only way of getting it to work i found for the defy and i tried about 10 different headphones with in-line controls. Bluetooth stereo sets like the one above with controls seem to work fine for music however, ive got a sony bluetooth set and the controls worked right away on the standard media player.

Hi everybody I'm new,
Does anyone can confirm this pinout for Defy's jack 3.5mm?
1. Tip - Left audio
2. Ring - Right audio
3. Ring - Ground
4. Sleeve - Mic
or this used in most mobiles:

I use Razer Moray+™ they have no remote function so you have to answer the call on the phone. But you have a mic and the work good for musik and phone calls.
anyone got an update for this, still looking for ear buds with a mic.
Klipsch Pro Media set(based on the S4i but a bit better build for traveling etc).
Awesome set up with defy. The S5i rugged set is also great as they are moisture proof and very overbuilt.

Thx,
Yeah, exactly as you wrote.
I remade cheap handset with remote (from eg. www.ebay.com).
It works with any headphones
I used my original headset on a iphone before. So I assume that every headset that works on the iphone should also work on the defy.

I wonder if Sony Ericsson's headsets work. These seem pretty good:
goo.gl/TquJQ
goo.gl/eQc9W
Would be good if they work.
BTW, I tried Samsung Galaxy SL's Stereo In ear handsfree and the sound quality was just awesome! Might get myself one of those!!
I've tried the iPhone standard headphones and sound works but Mic and controls don't. There is a pair of sennheiser mm50 Nokia. Which will work fine. Ordering one shortly.
Hi
I can confirm that at least not all iphone headset work the defy, even if the pinout is identical. I tried the Sennheiser MM70i and they don't work!
I soldered the mic of the standard Headset to the MM70 and now im happy,
but definitely nothing i can recommend
greetings

[Q] Bluetooth headphone connection to DVP

When I use my sony MW600 bluetooth headphone connect to DVP, I found it worked on dial, answer and enjoy the music. However, when i turn to viedo the sounds came out from the phone, and back to music the bluetooth headphone work again.
Does any body have the problem with it?
Its a WP7 problem, audio from videos is not sent via A2DP. We dont know yet if it will be marked as a feature never to be changed or identified as a bug and fixed in the future.

This bothered the hell outta me. I have the Sony DR-BT21 and DR-BT101's and I loved the sound quality that I got out of the phone with either of them. When it came to video, I realized Bluetooth audio playback for video was a limitation of WP7 rather quickly and I ended up carrying the stock headphones whenever I wanted to watch a video from BitBop and Netflix.
The solution I came up with was to buy a Nokia BH-905i. Definitely not the cheapest pair of Stereo Bluetooth Headphones you can buy (MSRP is ~249.99-299.99, I got them from Amazon *using the WP7 app* for $179), but there is a 2.5 to 3.5 cable that comes with it (actually two, one's for the iPhone) that will still allow you to use the Active Noise Canceling (ANC for short) and not switch headphones.
Pros: 25Hr BT Battery Life; 13 if you have the ANC on
Con/Trade-off: No FF/Rew/Play functionality when plugged into the 2.5mm.
Interesting bonuses: You can charge your headphones AND listen to music; Even if the battery died, you can still use the headphones with the 2.5mm Jack WITH ANC for 15 hours!
I had a pair of Motorola BT Headphones about 3 years ago that were cheaper (think $50 to $75) and wrap-around your neck and also featured a male 2.5mm jack. If I come across it again I'll post the model number for you/anyone else that's interested.
Hope it helps.

Crackling sound through 3.5mm jack, new phone.

Hi guys, so im wondering if anyone else have encountered a similar problem to mine.
I usually play music through bluetooth headsets, works absolutely flawless!
But in my car, a 2010 Audi A4 i only have the option to talk via the phone, car doesnt support music playback. So when i plug my 3.5mm in and try to play music (via spotify) i get this crackling sound. Doesnt happen on other devices like my JBL speaker, but the wierd thing is that my girlfriends iphone doesnt produce any crackling sound what so ever in the car. So im looking for options, i run stock OOS and kernel, no root or anything.
Would V4A help with this?
Anyone else got a similar problem?
Someone might recommend me to get a bluetooth adapter via AMI in the car but sadly the car doesnt have AMI. Or atleast i cant find it anywhere!
Any other solutions you guys could recommend?
Thanks in regards.

Can you update the car stereo firmware? At that age possibly not, but I had similar issues with a different phone and updating the media panel firmware fixed connectivity.
Also, try changing the Bluetooth codec in settings > advanced to see if that helps connect.
The crackling via 3.5 jack sounds like a faulty wire or lose connection on input or output. Do you get the same issue when you plugin the jack to your JBL input socket?

Could probably update the firmware, but the shop is most likely gonna ruin me haha.
Thats the wierd thing, doesnt happen on my JBL speaker, or a wired pair of headphones. Hence why i was sure it was the car. But my girlfriends phone sounds crystal clear, old moto x style didnt have the problem either!
Had the same problem with 3.5mm headphones until I removed the pre-applied plastic screen protector... This thing was causing too much static electricity in my jeans pocket as I walked resulting in crackling noises in the headphones
We have two op5, And The other sounds exactly same, cracling sound. The other Works just fine. We also have A4 b8. Our other car, VW Caddy, both Works fine.
Wires are good, jacks also.
Any ideas Whats wrong?
I have the OnePlus 5t and a 2011 a4 b8 and have the same issue... tried with 2 different aux cables (that worked fine with my old phone) Glad I'm not the only one. My phone sounds fine on any other device. Blasting music through my headset right now no problem. But in the a4 I get crackles any time I bring my phone volume over half! If anyone finds a solution I'd love to try it. Unfortunately can't get viper arise to install on stock room (rooted) so I haven't tried that route. My only Idiea is to try an amplifier.

Phone call audio not routing through 3.5mm jack audio cable or headphones

This is a general appeal for ideas, but mostly directed at Havoc [Havoc-OS v2.8 2019-09-09] users - I need your help. I've searched high and low for a solution and at this point I need someone else using Havoc to confirm something for me. The issue is phone call audio routing when headphones or 3.5mm audio cable is plugged in. On my old S2 for many years when I was driving I'd connect an audio cable to the 3.5mm jack and it would send audio (music, audiobooks, podcasts etc) to my car stereo. Then if I made or received a phone call, the audio from the other party would also come through the car stereo and the phone mic would easily pick up my voice a metre or so away, just like it would on speakerphone mode for a regular call.
Now I have an issue with the Note 4 where all regular audio out, music etc, will go to the car stereo but for some reason it isn't routing phone call audio to the car stereo OR the phone's external speaker. They can hear me fine from the Note 4 mic but I hear nothing. In addition, the call recording reveals that their voice IS being recorded along with mine....but there's no way for me to hear them.
I have tested this at home as well with regular wired headphones (not the handsfree type designed for phones with a mic on the cable), just plain old headphones I use to listen to stuff at the PC. The same thing happens: music and other normal audio goes to headphones but I cannot hear any audio in a call.
This is weird and I can't figure it out. My old S2 did this effortlessly for many years through multiple different ROMs and still does it now running Nougat. In my searches I came across what appears to be a solution, one of the only apps of it's kind for many years called SoundAbout, but it crashes straight away on my phone, and I read the same complaint from several users on Oreo onwards. The app seems to have been abandoned by it's dev years ago.
I've looked everywhere in Havoc settings and I can't find anything obvious that addresses the issue so I'm turning it over to you smart people. Any ideas? Before you say something like "just use a bluetooth headset in the car" - No. I'm not looking to change anything, I just want this (very simple) thing to work as it has for years, since Gingerbread! Btw, I only discovered this today for the first time as I'd never tried it before so I have no idea if it would have worked on earlier versions of Havoc or any of the Oreo ROMs I ran.
Thanks guys.
TLDR - [Havoc-OS v2.8 2019-09-09] phone call audio not routing to car stereo via 3.5mm jack, all other audio goes out just fine.
