Why is my 6P always turning WiFi On? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Pretty much sums it up. I have location based wifi turned off but whenever I get in a spot with open WiFi it will turn on automatically. I don't mind it most of the time but I really don't want it to happen at work.

Are you on Project-Fi?

No I'm not, I'm on AT&T.

This did install not long ago and maybe I should delete it. I kinda wondered because I think that may be a project fi app.

Correct the app is related to Project Fi.
Did you disable Wi-Fi scanning as well?

It hasn't happened since I disabled that app, that was definitely the issue.

My guess is that they are setting Wi-Fi to scan less often for available networks. Devs have been making that tweak fire a long time.

Yes
Are you sure? I googled this and so far the conclusion seems to point that it disable Wi-Fi connection and only wake up periodically. This breaks apps that requires constant data connection, like Google voice.

Fingerprint to sign in to apps

My previous phone was the Galaxy S6 and it allowed me to use my fingerprint to sign in to apps.
My nexus 6p doesn't. Is there a setting I need to enable to get this feature?
Here's a picture from my wife's gs6

Here's a screenshot from my nexus 6p
Notice how her galaxy s6 has three option to sign in using her fingerprint but mine doesn't?
How do I get the nexus 6p to allow this?
Both phones are running game through most recent version of the bank of America app.

Apps will have to be update to allow for nexus fingerprint. Samsung uses own proprietary app that BOA app was updated to work with. They will come eventually as more phones go to this method.
It says it right in the app description:
"Note: Fingerprint sign-in is currently only supported for select Samsung devices. We’ll be adding support for more devices in future releases."
Yea it sucks. Very slow adoption rate

Mostly because most still think it's a gimmick like 3d screens. Once it has been common place for a year or so you will see more adaption...if it lasts that long.

Google notifications

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. Every once in a while I get a pop up notification from Google. Opening it, it directs me to Google settings. Is it telling me I need to change something? I didn't think so. Everything seems to be working fine. More annoyingly, I can't swipe it away. It seems the only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone. Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on here?
Thanks very much for any help & here is screen shot of what I'm talking about.

See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3366469 It seems to be something to do with Nova launcher.

Thanks very much for that. Narrowing it down to something to do with Nova launcher is a start at least. I'll research further. It's still very annoying though!

Hmm I occasionally get this pop up when I say ok Google from the lock screen with ok Google always on enabled. It appears for a couple of seconds then goes away, I thought it was to say Google now is recording audio?

Do you have any 3rd party launchers/widgets installed ? You may want to look into that list of apps first. I would also uninstall lesser known apps first, one by one, and check which one caused the issue
I actually did that, no widgets, no launcher just the page you see in the screen shots, no lesser known apps, nothing fixes it.

I'm not sure if this would work, but try disabling Nearby Device Scanning from settings and see if this fixes the issue.
I used to get that when the profile sharing thing was enabled, can't remember what it is called exactly but it was a Samsung thing that lets you share your gallery to family members etc. I debloated my phone though so can't remember the name exactly.
I don't get the error when I'm connected to WiFi only get the error when I'm not connected to any data or when I'm on 4g.

This problem is getting fixed when the device restarts and starts when I am turning on wifi scanning in location service. Even after turning it off.. its not turning off.
