Can't make change to obb folder - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm trying to make changes to the Android/obb folder but it just fails.
I tried three different root explorer and nothing seems to work. It has rw rw r permissions.
Is it because of systemless root ?
Thanks for the future help

Fixed it simply by rebooting.
I feel idiot.

How this you go about installing it ? Am assuming if you managed to delete it you must have rooted and got adb running or Root Explorer.
If you have root explorer and have placed the files in system/app the only issue I think you have is with the permission.
Mount as RW
Navigate to system/app , long press the mms.apk and select permissions, change the permissions to
Read Write
Read
Read
Now do the same for the other file, once your done check below your file description , the permissions should now be similar to the other files present there.
Mount as RO
Reboot,
hopefully it should work.
Cheers,
Vikram.

I think that only .apk will be needed. .odex exist after start of application, so I think that it is only some cashe/data file.
My mms.apk can try download here.

A500 w/ minimalist 3.2 cannot copy files to read only folders

I'm fairly new to android, and rooting and custom roms and all that i have an a500 with the minimalistic 3.2 rom, and but this has happened with any other custom roms or stock firmwares aswell (all rooted)..
Anyway, ill use this as an example, one time, and I was trying to install the samsung Ebook.apk and it required a separate sytem app, and everyone said move this other app (my files. Apk.) to system / apps and change permissions, I've tried with several file managers and it always says that it is read only,
This happens when trying to move files to other system folders... Isn't rooting supposed to give me access to these and let me edit files or put files there ect
I'm probably just stupid, but but any help would be appreciated

Can you just push the files with ADB and edit the permissions?
I could not get ES File Explorer to gain root permissions with the Minimalist Rom, but the ADB method worked for me (installing Polaris Office).
I've heard a lot about adb but have never used it.. Ill look it up and see if I can set it up... thanks
use root explorer. Great file manager and gives youba button to mount the filesystem r/w

You need to remount the relevant folders as read/write. Most file explorers can do it. Most people swear by Root Explorer, but that's pay software. I use ES File Manager, which is free.
Thanks a lot but but how do i change permissions with root explorer? I (i am supposed i change them to 644)

how do i go about doing that?
I've tried to find it, but just can't find out for the life of me!
You need Root Explorer, ES Explorer or similar. Before you paste into /system/app you must mount /system as read/write within the app, then paste your file in. Once there, tap and hold on the file and a menu will appear with an option to fix permissions. You need to set owner with read/write and group and world with read only (it looks like rw-r--r--).

That's the bit i'm struggling with!
I'm sure i sound a complete retard, but i've tried long pressing on the system folder and i can't see any way to change permissions(i've checked properties but i can't edit any permissions)
I'm using ES Explorer, i have astro file manager too, but still struggling!
Sorry if i'm being a pain
EDIT: I've found the problem... i didnt enable root browser in the options ¬_¬
sorted it for now i think!
Thanks a load both of you
EDIT #2: I've changed the permissions, then something forceclosed, and now i've restarted and am stuck on the google screen on boot not good i assume!
I can't do anything with the device now!

Root explorer problems

I've tried different file explorers and this one seems to work the best but I still cannot fully get root access. I can rename a system file but when i try to move one to the system it says its failed. Can someone help me out?

Can't change read/write permission on system folder

I have always liked to change the read/write permissions on System/Media/audio/ui so that I can delete a couple of the sounds and then copy some from my sdcard to replace them, usually I use Rom ToolBox but since I got my S7 Edge I can't do it anymore regardless of the ROM.
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this please.
Will be appreciated
