Wifi Profile Issues on Note 4 - Forgetting Settings, losing wifi profiles - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 General

Not sure if it was the fact I rooted using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/general/easy-steps-n910t3-dofc-dog1-how-to-root-t3177225
I realized after a reboot my wifi settings has been being wiped, at first I thought it was because I used titanium backup to restore wifi profiles (wiped all wifi settings to try and fix) or if my root method has had this issue.
After wiping all wifi settings after I used titanium backup I still lost my wifi settings
I reset my phone and issue was still occuring
I found an issue with the note 3 forgetting passwords and I figured I'd do the same using a build.prop editor in the app store.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685519
Code:
Original:
ro.securestorage.support=true
Modified:
ro.securestorage.support=false
In doing these changes I inadvertently managed to store passwords as text instead of an encrypted hash so applications that show stored wifi passwords will now work on the phone

[Q] SPH-L900 - When I restore backed up /data folder only, I lose wifi tether

So I've posted another thread about losing mobile cell services when my backed up /system folder is restored and this led me to messing around with advanced restore (after a fresh install). I realized that when I restore my backed up /data folder, I lose wife tether (as opposed to a fresh install which wifi tether does work on).
Any idea's on a fix without having to completely reinstall the ROM? All else works fine but tethering a must for me at this time and after other issues I've had I'm not interested in reinstalling and resetting up my phone.

I think that some people had similar issues and used something along the lines of
Code:
restorecon /data/misc/wifi
But I'm not entirely sure... I'm doing that from memory of something I recall reading 3 weeks ago.

recovering wifi settings and passwords

A little tip that may save you some time
In the process of recently flashing a stock/rooted rom from zippy01 (check it out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759143)
I managed to lose my user data
I'd made backups, but a couple of things didnt restore, the wifi (locations and passwords) and bluetooth settings (paired devices).
So I spent hours trying to access my 4 previous backups, looking for the elusive settings.
I tried using CWM, titanium and twrp, even accessing the archives using ext4 explorers etc.
I thought I'd found them a number of times but after restoring, nothing had changed.
Then I stumbled across a useful app called Nandroid Manager *ROOT
It has a host of features and tools, including a restore feature (from backed up archives) that includes Wifi and bluetooth settings.
I wish I'd found this app a few days ago, I hope it saves you some time.

[Q] Program to save wifi passwords?

I just found out that the S5 hashes the wifi passwords in the supplicant file. I know I can't un-hash them but is there anyway to save my passwords and have them automatically restored when I change my ROM? I used to be able to just use Titanium Backup but that no longer transfers the passwords, just the SSIDs.
Maybe a program that I could save the passwords into separately and then could auto-input them?
I cannot use Google backup but am rooted.

transferring all settings, apps and data to replacement Nexus 6P? (fingerprint issue)

I have a Nexus 6P, and need to transfer everything on it (settings, apps, data, etc.) to a new replacement device (also a 6P). Both devices are rooted and have TWRP installed.
I have a TWRP nandroid backup from the original device, and I'm having issues restoring it onto the replacement. When I restore the cache, data, and system backup options, everything seems to work perfectly except for the screen lock and fingerprint security settings. (In addition to the nandroid backup, I also copied the Internal Storage partition of the old device to the new one.)
When I restore the backup and boot up the new device, it has all my settings except for the fingerprints I had saved in Nexus Imprint. I have tried to set up the fingerprints again, and get a "fingerprint not enrolled" error that prevents me from registering my fingerprints again.
I've experimented a little, and have made two backups on the original device -- one with my original screen lock and fingerprint settings, and a second with the finger prints deleted and no screen lock. I've also tried deleting the *.key files locksettings.db from /data/system with no luck. I can access the new device and set up the screen lock again, but can't figure out how to register my fingerprints to use the sensor again.
Please help me get this figured out. I still have the original device on hand, if there's anything I need to change or I need to make a new backup with different settings. (I also have Titanium Backup pro, or could try Helium if that would help.) Ideally I'd like to find a way to transfer everything -- user apps (plus settings and data, as well as system settings -- without having to set everything up manually on the new device.
Thanks!

Restore apps and settings from previous phone

Hi,
I've received my Mi A1 yesterday in exchange for my Nexus 5X.
After powering on the phone, I could choose to restore from "the cloud". After entering my Google credentials, the phone didn't let met choose which backup I'd like to restore. On my 5X and also on the Nexus 5 it could choose a backup and then install all apps including (partially) app settings automatically.
Here on the Mi A1 no apps were restored and also if I install a previously used app from Google Play, the settings aren't restored. In the settings I've ticked the checkbox to restore app settings.
Does anyone have an idea about how to install all apps automatically or at least how to restore the app settings from the Google Drive backup?
I'm speaking about this feature:
https://www.androidcentral.com/how-restore-your-apps-and-settings-new-android-phone
Actually I got the option to import the app settings, call history from my old phone while setting up the phone.
I've got the hint to create a shortcut with Nova Launcher for the activity ".backup.component.CloudRestoreFlowActivity" from the Google Play Services. But the issue is, that this activity is missing on my phone.
Could you check if it is available on your phone?
Experiencing the exact same problem
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Were you able to solve it?
Check to see if the appdata is actually being backed up, in settings -> System -> Backup, and see when the last app data backup was performed. For many, some of those things are stuck in pending and don't actually get backed up.
Exact same issue
I have the exact same issue. Have you found a solution?
I had the same issue switching from a Nexus 6P (8.1) to Mi A1 (7.1.2).
Nothing got restored (WiFi Passwords, Call Log, ...)
I restored the apps with TitaniumBackup, because i rooted the phone anyway.
I wasn't able to find a solution. Instead I had to install everything manually...
